El trabajador en las diferentes áreas del poder judicial contribuye a agilizar dicho servicio, mejorando la atención al público, agilizando procesos que redundan en beneficio de los justiciables y a la sociedad en general, en la realización de este trabajo están sometidos a condiciones de estrés, su salud metal depende en gran medida de su inteligencia emocional y de la forma que sea capaz de manejarla. Esta investigación, de enfoque cualitativo, tuvo como objetivo reflexionar sobre la información científica orientada a brindar una visión general de Inteligencia emocional a nivel de Iberoamérica y sus efectos en la salud mental. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda sistemática en español e inglés con las palabras clave inteligencia emocional, poder judicial, salud metal; arrojando un total de 64900 artículos. Seguidamente, se realizó la depuración a través de la revisión de títulos y resúmenes, quedando 21 artículos. Finalmente, se llevó a cabo el examen del total de los documentos siendo 16 investigaciones las que contaban con todos los criterios de inclusión y calidad, pasando a formar parte del estudio. Las bases de datos empleadas para esta revisión fueron: Scopus, Science Direct, EBSCO, Proquest, Scielo y Redalyc. Los resultados de esta investigación determinaron que, con el beneficio de esta práctica, hubo de reducción de los niveles de agresión de tipo verbal, en comparación, a los efectos alcanzados en agresión física, hostilidad e ira, hacia los usuarios que cuando no maneja la inteligencia emocional.


The worker in the different areas of the judiciary contributes to streamline said service, improving customer service, streamlining judicial processes that benefit the defendants and society in general. This research, with a qualitative approach, aimed to compare the different scientific articles aimed at providing an overview of Emotional Intelligence at the Ibero-American level. For this, a systematic search was carried out in Spanish and English with the keywords emotional intelligence, judicial power; yielding a total of 64900 articles. Subsequently, the debugging was carried out through the review of titles and abstracts, leaving 21 articles. Finally, a total examination of the documents was carried out, 16 investigations being those that had all the inclusion and quality criteria, becoming part of the study. The databases used for this review were: Scopus, Science Direct, EBSCO, Proquest, Scielo and Redalyc. The results of this research determined that, The results obtained showed a similarity in the research designs, which were carried out in their entirety with the non-experimental design. There was a general reduction in the levels of verbal aggression, in comparison, to the effects achieved in physical aggression, hostility and anger, when emotional intelligence is handled.

Esta investigação, de abordagem qualitativa, teve como objetivo comparar os diferentes artigos científicos que visam fornecer uma visão geral da inteligência emocional a nível da Ibero-América. Para tanto, foi realizada uma busca sistemática em espanhol e inglês com as palavras-chave inteligência emocional, poder judicial; rendendo um total de 64.900 artigos. Em seguida, foi realizada a purificação por meio da revisão de títulos e resumos, restando 21 artigos. Por fim, foi realizado o exame total dos documentos, sendo 16 investigações que atenderam a todos os critérios de inclusão e qualidade, passando a fazer parte do estudo. As bases de dados utilizadas para esta revisão foram: Scopus, Science Direct, EBSCO, Proquest, Scielo e Redalyc. Os resultados desta pesquisa determinaram que, Os resultados obtidos mostraram semelhança nos desenhos de pesquisa, que foram realizados integralmente com o desenho não experimental. Houve uma redução geral nos níveis de agressão verbal, em comparação, aos efeitos alcançados na agressão física, hostilidade e raiva, quando a inteligência emocional é gerenciada.

Objective: to analyze the effects of a Mindfulness-based intervention on nurse leaders' emotional intelligence and resilience. Method: a pilot study of a randomized crossover clinical trial. The sample (n=32) was randomized into Group A (n=18) and Group B (n=14) and evaluated at the pre-test, post-test and follow-up moments. The outcomes were assessed using the Emotional Intelligence Measure, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire and the Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire, and analyzed using Generalized Linear Mixed Models. Results: a total of 32 nurses with a mean age of 42.6 years old were evaluated. The analyses showed significant interactions between the effects of the group x moment factors on the Self-motivation (p=0.005), Sociability (p<0.001), Self-control (p=0.013), and Total (p=0.002) emotional intelligence skill scores; as well as on the Observe (p=0.042), Describe (p=0.008), Non-judgment (p<0.001), Act with awareness (p=0.004) and Total (p<0.001) mindfulness facets. Post-test: there was a statistically significant increase in the Sociability (p=0.009) and Self-control (p=0.015) emotional intelligence skills; as well as in the Non-judgment (p=0.022) and Total (p=0.002) mindfulness facets. Follow-up: a significant increase was observed in the Non-judgment (p=0.024) and Total (p=0.026) mindfulness facets. The "resilience" variable did not present statistical significance in the "group x moment" factor, both in the post-test and during follow-up. Conclusion: the Mindfulness-based intervention used proved to be effective in increasing nurse leaders' emotional intelligence and dispositional mindfulness skills. Objetivo: analizar los efectos de una intervención basada en mindfulness sobre la inteligencia emocional y la resiliencia de enfermeros líderes. Método: estudio piloto de un ensayo clínico aleatorizado cruzado. Muestra (n=32) aleatorizada en el grupo A (n=18) y grupo B (n=14), se los evaluó en el pretest, postest y seguimiento. Los resultados fueron evaluados mediante la Medida de Inteligencia Emocional, el Cuestionario de Resiliencia de Connor-Davidson y el Cuestionario Mindfulness de Cinco Facetas, y analizados por el Generalized Linear Mixed Models . Resultados: fueron evaluadas 32 enfermeras con una edad promedio de 42,6 años. Los análisis mostraron interacciones significativas de los efectos de los factores grupo vs. momento en los puntajes de las habilidades de automotivación (p=0,005), sociabilidad (p<0,001), autocontrol (p=0,013) y total (p=0,002) de inteligencia emocional; de las facetas observar (p=0,042), describir (p=0,008), no juzgar (p<0,001), actuar con conciencia (p=0,004) y total (p<0,001) de mindfulness. Postest: hubo un aumento estadísticamente significativo de las habilidades de sociabilidad (p=0,009) y autocontrol (p=0,015) de inteligencia emocional; de las facetas no juzgar (p=0,022) y total (p=0,002) de mindfulness . Seguimiento: se observó un aumento significativo en las facetas no juzgar (p=0,024) y total (p=0,026) de mindfulness . La variable resiliencia no presentó significación estadística en el factor grupo vs. momento en el postest y seguimiento. Conclusión: la intervención basada en mindfulness utilizada demostró ser eficaz para aumentar la inteligencia emocional y las habilidades de mindfulness disposicional de los enfermeros líderes. ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the relationship between the emotional intelligence of healthcare workers in a hospital environment and their perception of the safety climate in the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Cross-sectional, analytical study, carried out with 81 health workers who worked in hospitals during the pandemic, between September and November 2021. Data collection was carried out using an electronic form, which included a sociodemographic/occupational questionnaire and the Brazilian versions of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire and the Schutte Self Test. Spearman's correlation test and simple and multiple linear regression analyses were applied. Results: An increase of 1 point in emotional intelligence levels resulted in an increase of 0.487 points in the perception of the safety climate. The most significant predictor of this perception was the ability to manage other people's emotions (β=0.334; p=0.003; R2=0.168). Conclusion: A higher level of emotional intelligence in hospital healthcare workers was related to a greater perception of the safety climate during the COVID-19 pandemic.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional de los trabajadores de la salud en un ambiente hospitalario y la percepción del clima de seguridad en la pandemia de COVID-19. Método: Estudio transversal, analítico, realizado con 81 trabajadores de la salud que actuaron en hospitales durante la pandemia, entre septiembre y noviembre de 2021. La recolección de datos se realizó mediante formulario electrónico que incluyó un cuestionario sociodemográfico/ocupacional y versiones brasileñas del Safety Attitudes Questionnaire y del Schutte Self Reported Test. Se aplicó la prueba de correlación de Spearman y analices de regresión lineal simple y múltiple. Resultados: Un aumento de 1 punto en los niveles de inteligencia emocional resultó en un aumento de 0,487 puntos en los niveles de percepción del clima de seguridad. El predictor más significativo de esta percepción fue la capacidad de gestionar las emociones de los demás (β=0,334; p=0,003; R2=0,168). Conclusión: Un mayor nivel de inteligencia emocional en trabajadores de la salud en un ambiente hospitalario se relaciona con una mayor percepción del clima de seguridad en la pandemia de COVID-19.

Método: Estudo transversal, analítico, realizado com 81 trabalhadores de saúde que atuaram em hospitais na pandemia, entre setembro-novembro de 2021. A coleta de dados foi realizada com formulário eletrônico reunindo questionário sociodemográfico/ocupacional e versões brasileiras do Safety Attitudes Questionnaire e Schutte Self Test. Aplicou-se teste de correlação de Spearman e análise de regressão linear simples/múltipla. Resultados: O aumento de 1 ponto nos níveis de inteligência emocional repercutiu no aumento de 0,487 pontos nos níveis de percepção do clima de segurança. O preditor mais significativo dessa percepção foi a habilidade de manejo das emoções de outros (β=0,334; p=0,003; R2=0,168). Conclusão: Um maior nível de inteligência emocional de trabalhadores de saúde em ambiente hospitalar tem relação com uma maior percepção do clima de segurança na pandemia COVID-19.

O modelo de demandas e recursos foi utilizado para identificar o poder preditivo do estilo pessoal do terapeuta e do trabalho emocional (demandas), e da inteligência emocional e autoeficácia profissional (recursos) sobre as dimensões da síndrome de Burnout (SB), em uma amostra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileiros. Os dados foram coletados por meio de plataforma online, tendo como instrumentos de pesquisa um Questionário de dados sociodemográficos e laborais, o Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, o Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeut, o Questionário de Avaliação Relacionado a Demandas Emocionais e Dissonância da Regra da Emoção, Medida de Inteligência Emocional, e Escala de Autoeficácia Geral Percebida. Os resultados obtidos revelaram um modelo preditor das dimensões da SB, constituído pelas variáveis dissonância emocional, automotivação, demandas emocionais, instrução, envolvimento e autoeficácia. Ressalta-se a relevância de estratégias voltadas para a prevenção da SB nessa categoria profissional, bem como a necessidade de ações que visem a promoção e o desenvolvimento da inteligência emocional e da autoeficácia como fortalecimento dos recursos emocionais para atuação na prática clínica.(AU)


The Model of Demands - Resources was used to identify the predictive power of therapist's personal style, emotional work (Demands), Emotional intelligence, and professional self-efficacy (Resources) over the Burnout syndrome dimensions in a sample of 240 Brazilian clinical psychologists. The data was collected by an on-line platform using a Labor and social demographic data questionnaire, a work Burnout Syndrome Evaluation questionnaire (CESQT - Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo), the short version of the Therapist Personal Style Questionnaire (EPT-C Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta), an Evaluation questionnaire related to emotional demands and emotion rule dissonance, and the Emotional Intelligence Measure (EIM) and Perceived General Self-Efficacy Scale (GPSS) as research instruments. Results showed a predictor model of Burnout syndrome constituted by the variables Emotional dissonance, Self-motivation, Emotional demands, Instruction, Involvement, and Self-efficacy. We emphasize the relevance of strategies to prevent Burnout Syndrome in this professional category and the need for actions to promote and develop emotional intelligence and self-efficacy as a strengthening factor of the emotional resources to work as a clinical psychologist.(AU)


Se utilizó el modelo demandas y recursos para identificar el poder predictivo del estilo personal del terapeuta y del trabajo emocional (demandas), y de la inteligencia emocional y autoeficacia profesional (recursos) sobre las dimensiones del síndrome de Burnout (SB), en una muestra de 240 psicólogos clínicos brasileños. Los datos se recolectaron de una plataforma en línea, utilizando como instrumentos de investigación un cuestionario de datos sociodemográficos y laborales, el Cuestionario para la Evaluación del Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo, el Cuestionario del Estilo Personal del Terapeuta, el Cuestionario de Evaluación Relacionado con Demandas Emocionales y Disonancia de la Regla de la Emoción, la Medida de Inteligencia Emocional y Escala de Autoeficacia General Percibida. Los resultados obtenidos revelaron un modelo predictor de las dimensiones de SB, constituido por las variables disonancia emocional, automotivación, exigencias emocionales, instrucción, implicación y autoeficacia. Se destaca la relevancia de las estrategias dirigidas a la prevención del SB en esta categoría profesional, así como la necesidad de acciones dirigidas a promover y desarrollar la inteligencia emocional y la autoeficacia como fortalecimiento de los recursos emocionales para trabajar en la práctica clínica.(AU)

Introduction: Physical exercise is one of the most relevant lifestyle choices for the prevention of diseases; however, participation in this type of activity remains low. Therefore, it is necessary to deepen the understanding of related psychological factors in men and women. Objective: To determine whether personality traits, emotional intelligence and negative affective are differentially related to physical exercise characteristics in men and women. Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 579 physically active people (61.1% men) between 18 and 59 years of age. The Big Five Inventory (BFI-15p), Brief Emotional Intelligence Scale (EQ-i-M20), and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) were used. Results: Compared with men, women exercised fewer days and minutes per week, had fewer years of participation and performed fewer different physical exercises. On the emotional intelligence scale, compared with men, women showed less stress management, adaptability and general mood but greater interpersonal intelligence. With regard to personality traits, compared with men, women showed greater openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism. In males, heightened levels of general mood and extraversion were associated to a lasting commitment to physical exercise over time. Conversely, in females, depression was negatively associated with the years dedicated to physical exercise. Conclusion: Distinct approaches are essential for men and women, acknowledging the varied ways psychological factors are linked to physical exercise based on gender.

El factor de atención emocional ha sido reportado con frecuencia negativamente asociado con indicadores de salud mental; al contrario de los resultados obtenidos con los factores de claridad y de reparación emocional. Los objetivos del estudio fueron examinar las relaciones entre atención, claridad y reparación emocional con los factores de respuestas rumiativas y determinar si la relación entre la atención emocional y rumiación varía de acuerdo con los niveles de atención, claridad y reparación emocional en estudiantes universitarios de Lima, Perú. Para ello, primero se realizó un estudio de la estructura factorial y la confiabilidad de la TMMS-24 y de la Escala de Respuestas Rumiativas, en 320 estudiantes de una universidad pública de Lima, Perú. Segundo, se llevó a cabo un estudio correlacional mediante la aplicación de ambos instrumentos a 529 estudiantes de la misma universidad. En la muestra total se obtuvo que ambos factores de rumiación correlacionaron positivamente con atención emocional, pero solo reproche correlacionó con claridad y con reparación, siendo tal correlación negativa. Para determinar si la relación positiva entre atención y rumiación varía con los niveles de atención, claridad y reparación, se compararon las correlaciones entre atención y rumiación correspondientes a los grupos de baja, media y alta atención, claridad y reparación. Estas comparaciones mostraron que la relación entre atención y los factores de rumiación variaban solo en función del nivel de reparación. Los resultados indican diferencias importantes en la manera en que se relaciona cada factor de rumiación con la atención emocional, por un lado, y con la claridad y la reparación emocional, por el otro.


The emotional attention factor has been often reported as negatively associated with mental health indicators, contrary to the results attained with the emotional clarity and repair factors. The objectives of this study were to examine relationships between emotional attention, clarity and repair and factors of ruminative responses and to determine whether the relation between emotional attention and rumination could vary according to the levels of emotional attention, clarity and repair in university students from Lima, Peru. For this, in first place, a study was carried out to determine the factor structure and the internal consistency of the TMMS-24 and the Ruminative Responses Scale in 320 undergraduates of a public university in Lima, Peru. After this psychometric study, it was carried out a correlation study in 529 undergraduates from the same university. In the whole sample, both rumination factors positively correlated with emotional attention, but only brooding correlated with clarity and repair, negatively. In order to determine whether the positive relation between attention and rumination varies with the levels of attention, clarity and repair, the attention-rumination correlations were compared between groups of low, medium and high attention, clarity and repair. These comparisons shown that the relationship between attention and rumination factors varied only as a function of the level of repair. These results indicate important differences in the way that each rumination factor is related with emotional attention, on the one hand, and with emotional clarity and repair, on the other.

Contexto: la investigación busca determinar la relación entre la inteligencia emocional y la calidad de vida en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica que reciben tratamiento de hemodiálisis de un hospital de la ciudad del Cusco, considerando el riesgo de la enfermedad para el logro de una mejor vida y los recursos existentes en la psicología de la salud. Metodología: el estudio se ubica en un nivel básico con un alcance correlacional y un diseño no experimental-transversal. Se incluyeron 96 pacientes diagnosticados con insuficiencia renal crónica que asistían a hemodiálisis y que fueron evaluados con el inventario emocional BarOn y el cuestionario KDQOL SF-36 para la calidad de vida. Los datos de identificación de los pacientes fueron obtenidos de las fichas de registro utilizadas, previo consentimiento informado de los evaluados. Posteriormente, para el análisis de datos descriptivos e inferenciales, se emplearon frecuencias y porcentajes; además de estadísticos de asociación, como el tau-b de Kendall, chi cuadrado y d de Somers. Resultados: la relación para inteligencia emocional y calidad de vida muestra un valor de p < 0,05, mediante la prueba de chi cuadrado; el estadístico tau-b de Kendall = 0,340 explica la dirección positiva de la relación e intensidad moderada de la asociación; el estadístico d de Somers = 0,339 ratifica que la inteligencia emocional en general mejora la calidad de vida de los pacientes en una intensidad media. También, se halló una relación significativa para cada una de las dimensiones de la inteligencia emocional con la calidad de vida. Conclusiones: existe relación directa entre inteligencia emocional y calidad de vida en pacientes con insuficiencia renal crónica en hemodiálisis.


Background: The research seeks to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure who receive hemodialysis treatment at a hospital in the city of Cusco, considering the risk of the disease for achieving a better life and the existing resources in health psychology. Methods: The study is located at a basic level, following a correlational scope and a non-experimental - cross-sectional design. 96 patients diagnosed with chronic renal failure attending hemodialysis were included, who were evaluated with the BarOn Emotional Inventory and the KDQOL SF-36 questionnaire for quality of life. The identification data of the patients were obtained from the registration forms used, with the prior informed consent of those evaluated. Subsequently, for the analysis of descriptive and inferential data, frequencies and percentages were used, in addition to association statistics such as Kendall's Tau-b, Chi square and Somers' D. Results: The relationship for emotional intelligence and quality of life shows a value of p < 0.05, using the Chi-square test, the Kendall Tau-b statistic = 0.340, explains the positive direction of the relationship and moderate intensity of the association. , Somers' D statistic=0.339 confirms that emotional intelligence in general improves the quality of life of patients at a medium intensity. A significant relationship was also found for each of the dimensions of emotional intelligence with quality of life. Conclusions: There is a direct relationship between emotional intelligence and quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis.

Resumen Objetivo: Conocer la relación que existe entre la Inteligencia Emocional y los Eventos Estresantes de la Vida en los Adultos Mayores. Materiales y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo correlacional realizado en 95 participantes de Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México. Se aplicó una Cedula de Datos Personales, la Escala de Meta-Estado de Ánimo y el Inventario de Estrés en la Vida de Adultos Mayores. Resultados: El 64.2% de los participantes pertenecieron al sexo femenino, los eventos que más experimentaron los AM en el último año fueron la presencia de una lesión o enfermedad en el Adulto Mayor (67.4%), el no poder realizar actividades que disfrutaba mucho (65.3%) y la muerte de un miembro cercano a la familia (63.8%). No se encontró relación significativa entre la Inteligencia Emocional y los Eventos Estresantes de la Vida en los Adultos Mayores (rs = -.06, p = .56), sin embargo, se realizó en análisis con cada uno de los eventos y los resultados mostraron que la Inteligencia Emocional se relacionó de forma positiva con la muerte de un miembro cercano a la familia (rs = .65, p = .05), la alteración en la salud de algún miembro en la familia (rs = .54, p = .05), el no poder realizar actividades que disfrutaba (rs = .54, p = .05). Conclusiones: La experiencia repetida de los Eventos Estresantes de la Vida pueden impactar de forma negativa la salud del Adulto Mayor, se requiere de más estudios que permitan identificar como la IE puede ayudar al Adulto Mayor a enfrentar estos eventos.


Abstract Objective: To know the relationship that exists between Emotional Intelligence and Stressful Life Events in Older Adults. Materials and Methods: Correlational descriptive study, in 95 participants from Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico. A Personal Data Record, the MetaMood Scale and the Stress Inventory in the Life of Older Adults were applied. Results: 64.2% of the participants were females, the events that the elderly experienced the most in the last year were the presence of an injury or illness in the Elderly (67.4%), not being able to carry out activities that they enjoyed a lot (65.3%) and the death of a close family member (63.8%). No significant relationship was found between Emotional Intelligence and Stressful Life Events in Older Adults (rs = -.06, p = .56), however, an analysis was carried out with each one of the events and the results showed that Emotional Intelligence was positively related to the death of a close family member (rs = .65, p = .05), the alteration in the health of a family member (rs = .54, p = .05), not being able to do activities they enjoyed (rs = .54, p = .05). Conclusions: The repeated experience of Stressful Life Events can negatively impact the health of the Elderly, more studies are required to identify how Emotional Intelligence can help the Elderly to face these events.

Background: Emotional Intelligence (EI) has emerged as a pivotal factor in work effectiveness and well-being within the healthcare domain. Specifically, its significance is heightened in the nursing sector, where emotional and social demands are high. Additionally, job satisfaction and conflict management are recognized as vital predictors of patient care service quality. However, there is a dearth of research addressing the mediating role of conflict management in the relationship between EI and job satisfaction within a nursing context. Objective: This study aims to assess the mediating role of conflict management in the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction among nurses. Methods: The STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies was followed. A cross-sectional and explanatory design was employed. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaires to measure emotional intelligence, conflict management, and job satisfaction. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was conducted to test the proposed hypotheses. Results: A total of 208 nurses aged between 18 and 65 years participated (M = 41.18, SD = 8.942). The findings confirmed a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and conflict management (ß = 0.64, p < 0.001). Similarly, a positive relationship between conflict management and job satisfaction was observed (ß = 0.37, p < 0.001). Moreover, conflict management was validated as a mediator in the relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction (ß = 0.77, p = 0.002). Conclusion: The study underscores the importance of emotional intelligence and conflict management as predictors of job satisfaction in nurses. The results suggest that interventions aimed at enhancing emotional intelligence might be an effective avenue for increasing job satisfaction, especially when conflict management strategies are integrated.

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a new normality, a scenario where different circumstances trigger emotions such as concern about returning to face-to-face classes, to which higher education students adapt. The objective was to identify how emotional intelligence and coping with stress explain students' concern about returning to face-to-face classes post COVID-19. Methods: This was an explanatory and cross-sectional study. The sample by intention was 588 students from the Faculty of Health Sciences. The Rotterdam Emotional Intelligence Scale (REIS), the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE), and the ACAD-COVID-19 scale were used. For data collection, the instruments were digitized. Bivariate analysis with Chi-square and multivariate logistic regression was performed. Results: The mean age of the participants was 19.72 years; most were single and without children (96.9% and 96.8%, respectively). 74.3% did not work, 80.8% were from the first years of study, and 52.7% belonged to nursing school. About 94.2% of participants indicated having adequate emotional intelligence, 91.3% expressed coping with adequate stress, and 67.2% indicated serious concern about returning to face-to-face classes. An association was found between gender (p=0.042), age (p=0.002), year of study (p=0.027), emotional intelligence (p=0.001), and coping with stress (p=0.001) with concern for return to face-to-face classes. Emotional intelligence identified as adequate (OR: 2.580; IC95%: 1.117-5.960) and coping with stress identified as adequate (OR: 2.008; IC95%: 1.018-3.960) are more likely to express serious concern about the return to face-to-face classes after the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: According to the results, the need to safeguard the psychological aspects of students is highlighted, especially emotional intelligence, as well as to improve coping with stress so that they can better manage concerns about returning to face-to-face classes. The educational authorities should implement strategies to improve these aspects in order to ensure the adequate return to face-to-face classes in new scenarios.

Resumen Objetivo: Conocer la relación de la inteligencia emocional (IE), satisfacción laboral y consumo de alcohol en el personal de enfermería que labora en un hospital de tercer nivel de atención. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo, transversal y correlacional. La muestra fue de 129 profesionales de enfermería que laboran en un hospital de tercer nivel, divididos en áreas críticas y no críticas. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron una Cédula de Datos Socio-demográficos, Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24), Cuestionario de Satisfacción Laboral S10/12 y AUDIT. Resultados: El 75% fueron mujeres, con estudios de licenciatura, más del 45% consumieron alcohol en la última semana. Se encontró que existe una relación positiva y significativa entre la inteligencia emocional y la satisfacción laboral (rs = .236, p < .001), también se encontró relación negativa y ssignificativa entre la satisfacción laboral y el consumo de alcohol (rs = -.195, p < .05). Conclusiones: Se muestran diferencias entre la IE, la satisfacción laboral y el consumo de alcohol en el personal de enfermería de acuerdo con el área en la que labora. Así mismo se observa la relación positiva entre la IE y la satisfacción llaboral, además de relación negativa entre satisfacción laboral y consumo de alcohol. Este estudio manifiesta la importancia de conocer a profundidad que factores impactan el cuidado que proporciona el personal de enfermería dentro de los servicios hospitalarios y cuáles son los métodos que utilizan para afrontarlos.


Abstract Objective: To know the relationship between emotional intelligence, job satisfaction and alcohol consumption in nursing staff working in a tertiary care hospital. Materials and methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational study. The sample consisted of 129 nursing professionals who work in a third level hospital, divided into critical and non-critical areas. The instruments used were a Socio-demographic Data Sheet, Trait Meta Mood Scale (TMMS-24), Job Satisfaction Questionnaire S10/12 and AUDIT. Results: 75% were women, with undergraduate studies, more than 45% consumed in the last week. It was found that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and job satisfaction (rs = .236, p < .001), a negative and significant relationship was also found between job satisfaction and alcohol consumption (rs = -.195, p < .05). Conclusions: Differences are shown between EI, job satisfaction and alcohol consumption in nursing staff according to the area in which they work. Likewise, there is a positive relationship between EI and job satisfaction and a negative relationship between job satisfaction and alcohol consumption. This study demonstrates the importance of knowing in depth what factors impact the care provided by nursing staff within hospital services and what are the methods used to deal with them.

Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre inteligencia emocional y las estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés en trabajadores asistenciales de un Hospital de Tercer Nivel de Atención durante el 2021. Material y método: Se realizó un estudio transversal analítico. Se utilizó dos encuestas: El test de COPE, el cual mide cómo afrontar el estrés y el Inventario de Coeficiente emocional de Bar-On, que mide el nivel de inteligencia emocional. La variable principal fue el afrontamiento al estrés; la independiente, la inteligencia emocional. Resultados: Se trabajó un total de 290 trabajadores asistenciales. La inteligencia emocional se correlacionó significativamente de manera positiva (Pearson = 0.6003) con el afrontamiento al estrés. Las estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés con mayor media fueron planificación, reinterpretación positiva y crecimiento, afrontamiento religioso. Estas estrategias tuvieron una correlación positiva con la inteligencia emocional, estas correlaciones fueron 0.5271, 0.5200 y 0.2051, respectivamente. Para el análisis de regresión múltiple, se observó que el promedio de puntos del Test de BarOn aumentó en 0.261 puntos por cada punto que incrementa el TEST de COPE (coef. = 0,261; IC95%: 0.215 - 0.307); ello ajustado por todas las covariables de interés. Conclusión: Existe una relación entre la inteligencia emocional y el afrontamiento al estrés; también, se encontró relación con las estrategias de afrontamiento al estrés.


Objective: To determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress coping strategies in health care workers of a Third Level of Care Hospital during 2021. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was carried out. Two surveys were used: the COPE test which measures how to cope with stress and the Bar-On Emotional Coefficient Inventory which measures the level of emotional intelligence. The main variable was coping with stress. The independent variable was emotional intelligence. Results: A total of 290 health care workers were worked. Emotional intelligence was significantly positively correlated (Pearson = 0.6003) with stress coping. The stress coping strategies with the highest mean were planning, positive reinterpretation and growth, and religious coping. These strategies had a positive correlation with emotional intelligence, these correlations were 0.5271, 0.5200 and 0.2051 respectively. For the multiple regression analysis, it was observed that the average BARON test score increased by 0.261 points for each point increase in the COPE TEST (coefficient = 0.261; 95%CI: 0.215 - 0.307); adjusted for all covariates of interest. Conclusion: There is a relationship between emotional intelligence and stress coping. A relationship was also found with stress coping strategies.

La inteligencia emocional se define como habilidades para conocer y dominar emociones propias y de otros/as. Los objetivos del presente estudio fueron validar un instrumento de inteligencia emocional en una muestra de estudiantes de Educación Física de Chile y describir las habilidades emocionales de la muestra. Se evaluaron 226 estudiantes de Educación Física de dos universidades de Santiago de Chile. Se aplicó la Escala rasgo de metaconocimiento emocional (TMMS-24). Los resultados revelan que el instrumento, reducido a 19 ítems, presenta tres factores que explican el 56,8% de la varianza total, con un alfa de Cronbach de 0,916. En relación con los niveles de inteligencia emocional, la muestra presenta valores altos, sin que existan diferencias significativas en las dimensiones claridad, atención y reparación del TMMS-24 entre damas y varones. Al comparar por años de carrera, sólo hay diferencias en la dimensión claridad, donde los/as estudiantes de 5º año poseen mayores puntajes que los/as de 2º. Se concluye que los/as estudiantes de Educación Física poseen altos índices de inteligencia emocional, sin diferencias entre damas y varones.


Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to know and master one's and/or others' emotions. The objectives of this study were to validate an emotional intelligence instrument in a sample of physical education students from Chile, and to describe the emotional skills of the sample. 226 physical education students from two universities in Santiago de Chile were evaluated. The Emotional Metacognition Trait Scale (TMMS-24) was applied. The results reveal that the instrument, reduced to 19 items, presents three factors that explain 56,8% of the total variance, with a Cronbach alpha of 0,916. In relation to the levels of emotional intelligence, the sample presents high values, without there being significant differences in the dimension's clarity, attention, and repair of the TMMS-24 between women and men. When comparing years of career, there are only differences in the clarity dimension, where 5th year students had higher scores than/as 2nd years. It is concluded that physical education students have high rates of emotional intelligence, with no differences between women and men.

Introducción: La inteligencia emocional es una habilidad blanda, definida como la capacidad de reconocer las emociones propias y ajenas para gestionarlas frente a otros de manera adecuada. Este tipo de inteligencia se relaciona con competencias y aptitudes humanas en diferentes áreas sociales, académicas y de trabajo. Objetivo: Describir el papel de la inteligencia emocional en la práctica clínica de los residentes médicos, como marco de referencia para su aplicación en la educación teórico-práctica y la realización de futuras investigaciones. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión de la literatura en las bases de datos PubMed, LILACS y Google Scholar. Se emplearon operadores lógicos mediante distintas combinaciones: MeSH: Emotional Intelligence, Medical Residencies, Education, Medical, Education, Medical, Graduate; y DeCS: Inteligencia Emocional, Residencia Médica, Educación Médica, Educación de Postgrado en Medicina. La búsqueda se limitó por año, idioma y acceso libre, teniendo en cuenta criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Se obtuvieron 279 resultados, de los cuales fueron seleccionados 26 para ser incluidos en la revisión y síntesis de los resultados. Resultados: Los resultados se organizaron según su relación con la inteligencia emocional en: medición en residentes médico-quirúrgicos, niveles de estrés y burnout, empatía en la relación médico-paciente, desempeño académico, bienestar y satisfacción laboral. Conclusiones: La inteligencia emocional en los residentes médico-quirúrgicos se ha relacionado con menores niveles de estrés y burnout, comunicación asertiva, mayor empatía con los pacientes y calidad en la atención médica; además, con elevado rendimiento académico, mejores habilidades de enseñanza, liderazgo y motivación; y, finalmente, con mejor bienestar psicológico, satisfacción laboral y rendimiento clínico(AU)


Introduction: Emotional intelligence is a soft skill, defined as the ability to recognize one's own and others' emotions in view of managing them in front of others adequately. This type of intelligence is related to human competences and skills in different social, academic and occupational areas. Objective: To describe the role of emotional intelligence in the clinical practice of medical residents, as a frame of reference for its application in theoretical-practical education and the development of future research. Methods: A literature review was carried out in the PubMed, LILACS and Google Scholar databases. Logical operators were used by means of different combinations from the Medical Subject Headings: Emotional Intelligence, Medical Residencies, Education, Medical, Education, Medical, Graduate. The following combinations from the Health Sciences Descriptors were also used: "Inteligencia Emocional [emotional Intelligence], Residencia Médica [medical residence], Educación Médica [medical education], Educación de Postgrado en Medicina [postgraduate education in Medicine]. The search was limited by year, language and free access, taking into account inclusion and exclusion criteria. A total of 279 results were obtained, of which 26 were selected to be included in the review and synthesis. Results: The results were organized, according to their relationship with emotional intelligence, in measurement in medical-surgical residents, levels of stress and burnout, empathy in the doctor-patient relationship, academic performance, well-being, and job satisfaction. Conclusions: Emotional intelligence in medical-surgical residents has been related to lower levels of stress and burnout, assertive communication, greater empathy with patients, and quality in medical care; furthermore, with high academic performance, better skills for teaching, leadership and motivation; and, finally, with better psychological well-being, job satisfaction and clinical performance(AU)

Introducción: Actualmente, se ha expuesto el papel que desempeñan las habilidades cognitivo-emocionales en el desarrollo de la resiliencia. En consecuencia, estudios realizados hasta el momento indican que un buen nivel de inteligencia emocional tiene una influencia beneficiosa en el funcionamiento psicológico y social, al mejorar los procesos cognitivos, sociales, emocionales y conductuales. Se realizó una revisión sistemática mediante 2 búsquedas en distintas bases de datos, tales como PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science, Psicodoc y PubMed Central. De este modo, se obtuvieron un total de 472 documentos que, tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión y exclusión quedaron 5 estudios para revisión. Objetivo: Identificar la influencia que ejercen los programas de intervención en la promoción de la resiliencia y la inteligencia emocional en militares. Desarrollo: Se mostró la relación que ejercen los programas de intervención en el desarrollo de la resiliencia e inteligencia emocional en el bienestar personal de los miembros de las fuerzas armadas. Conclusiones: Los militares que poseen mayores niveles en resiliencia e inteligencia emocional presentan mayor bienestar psicológico y físico, así como mayor capacidad para adaptarse y recuperarse con mayor éxito ante situaciones difíciles y mostrar mejor preparación para el combate. Por tanto, se considera que futuros estudios de intervención tengan en cuenta los resultados del presente trabajo, de modo que les permita corroborar estos hallazgos(AU)


Introduction: Currently, the role of cognitive-emotional skills in the development of resilience has been exposed. Consequently, studies conducted so far indicate that a good level of emotional intelligence has a beneficial influence on psychological and social functioning by improving cognitive, social, emotional and behavioral processes. A systematic review was carried out through 2 searches in different databases, such as PsycINFO, Scopus, Web of Science, Psicodoc and PubMed Central. Objective: To identify the influence of intervention programs in the promotion of resilience and emotional intelligence in the military. Development: A total of 472 documents were obtained and, after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 studies were left for review. The existing relationship between the intervention programs in the development of resilience and emotional intelligence in the personal well-being of the members of the Armed Forces was shown. Conclusions: Military personnel with higher levels of resilience and emotional intelligence have greater psychological and physical well-being, as well as a greater capacity to adapt and recover more successfully in difficult situations and show better combat readiness. Therefore, it is considered that future intervention studies should take into account the results found in the present work, in order to corroborate these findings(AU)

As self-regulation theory has increasingly been used as a theoretical lens to explain the effects of psychological contract evaluations and employee outcomes, we test whether emotional intelligence (an ability for self-regulation) is a potential moderator of these relationships. More concretely, using a multiple times survey design in an education-based organization with 247 participants, we examined whether emotional intelligence moderates the mediation effect of emotional exhaustion on the relationship between psychological contract fulfillment and turnover intentions. Using a structural equations model (SEM) framework, our results support our hypotheses that individuals with low emotional intelligence do not experience the benefits of having fulfilled psychological contracts. Psychological contract fulfillment significantly reduces the likelihood of emotional exhaustion but only for individuals with high emotional intelligence. Consequently, turnover intentions are lower for emotionally intelligent individuals who experience the fulfillment of psychological contracts. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. We conclude our study by suggesting that emotional intelligence should be considered as a relevant individual difference in future psychological contract research.

OBJECTIVE: Strong empirical research has shown a relationship between body dissatisfaction and symptoms of eating disorders (ED) and the direct and combined influence of emotional factors and dimensions of emotional intelligence (EI) on ED symptoms. However, whether these emotional variables and competencies moderate the well-established relationship between body dissatisfaction and ED symptomatology has not yet been tested. Neither have studies of this nature been performed among high at-risk populations such as Mexican female adolescents. Thus, this research aimed to explore the moderator role of EI subdimensions in the relationship between body dissatisfaction and ED symptoms among female adolescents from Sinaloa, Mexico. METHODS: A total of 485 female adolescents aged 14-19 years old (M = 16.81, SD = 1.33) who were students in middle school, high school, and college completed questionnaires about body dissatisfaction, ED symptomatology, and EI. We conducted moderating analyses. RESULTS: Subdimensions of EI significantly moderated the relationship between body dissatisfaction and symptoms of ED. For participants high in body dissatisfaction, lower levels in stress management ability and higher levels in the interpersonal EI and Adaptability EI dimensions were associated with higher levels of ED symptomatology. DISCUSSION: Subdimensions of EI have an important role in moderating the association between body dissatisfaction and symptoms of ED. The findings of this study contribute to improving the knowledge about the role of emotional competencies in ED. Proposals for future research and to improve preventative approaches are discussed. PUBLIC SIGNIFICANCE STATEMENT: This study shows the moderating role of EI dimensions in the well-established relationship between body dissatisfaction and ED symptomatology. The research was conducted with a population at high risk of ED: female adolescents in the northwest of Mexico. Results showed that low Stress management EI, high Adaptability EI, and high Interpersonal EI were associated with higher levels of ED symptomatology among participants with high (but not low) body dissatisfaction. These insightful results have theoretical and practical implications.

Physical inactivity is a current worldwide, and especially Mexican adolescents. Therefore, this study has the following objectives: (i) to analyze the PA-LT pattern of Mexican adolescents; (ii) to analyze whether there are differences in emotional intelligence, basic psychological needs, academic motivation, self-esteem, and academic satisfaction according to the PA-LT pattern; (iii) to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence, basic psychological needs, academic motivation, self-esteem, and academic satisfaction. A total of 748 secondary school students participated, of which 374 were girls (Mean age = 13.99; SD = 0.30) and 374 boys (Mean age = 14.02; SD = 0.33). The questionnaire comprised the following scales: IE, NPB-ESC, EMA, EA, and SIE. The main results obtained show that none of the girls stick to any active physical activity pattern during their spare time. In addition, physically active boys obtained better scores in emotional clarity, emotional repair, perception of academic competence, perception of social relationships, extrinsic motivation, intrinsic motivation, self-esteem, and satisfaction with school.

The current study aimed to present the process of adaption and validity evidence of the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24) for the population of Brazilian school adolescents. The study included 4,681 students aged 10 to 19 years old, attending public schools in 12 cities in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. According to the original scale, the exploratory and confirmatory factorial analyses indicated adequate fit indexes and satisfactory reliability for the model composed of 24 items and three factors (attention, clarity, and repair). The scale showed a significant positive correlation with life satisfaction and psychological well-being. The results reveal that the TMMS-24 is adequate for the assessment of emotional intelligence among Brazilian adolescents and may contribute to research and interventions regarding emotional competencies among this population.
