RESUMO

The quality of welds is critical to the safety of structures in construction, so early detection of irregularities is crucial. Advances in machine vision inspection technologies, such as deep learning models, have improved the detection of weld defects. This paper presents a new CNN model based on ResNet50 to classify four types of weld defects in radiographic images: crack, pore, non-penetration, and no defect. Stratified cross-validation, data augmentation, and regularization were used to improve generalization and avoid over-fitting. The model was tested on three datasets, RIAWELC, GDXray, and a private dataset of low image quality, obtaining an accuracy of 98.75 %, 90.255 %, and 75.83 %, respectively. The model proposed in this paper achieves high accuracies on different datasets and constitutes a valuable tool to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of quality control processes in the welding industry. Moreover, experimental tests show that the proposed approach performs well on even low-resolution images.

RESUMO

This research proposes a new index to evaluate the stability of the melting process, in three-phase electric arc furnaces (EAFs), based on the acoustic signals generated during the different stages of the casting. The proposed stability index is obtained by characterizing the time and frequency domain of the acoustic signals. During EAF monitoring, acoustic signals were acquired using a microphone coupled to an NI USB-9234 acquisition system. To validate the results, the voltage and current signals were measured with the aid of a Circutor AR6 power analyzer for three-phase electrical networks. The results showed that the acoustic signal energy in the frequency range of 1 to 12 kHz can be used as an indicator of the process stability in the EAF. Finally, the validity of the proposed stability index is evaluated from the process characterization using the harmonic distortion analysis methods and the dynamic U-I characteristics of the arc voltage and current signals. The results obtained demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposal and constitute a starting point for advances in the automatic control of the process in the EAF, from the acoustic signals.

A literature review was carried out to determine the impact of mechatronic in the health sector. Its development was evaluated from the point of view of different investigators, which has allowed its insertion in this sector. It was also proven that robotics and digital processing of images and signs have higher incidence in medicine. Also, an analysis of mechatronic applied to this science was carried out, which demonstrated that the surgical and therapeutical areas are the most favored and receive nourishment through innovative techniques that are more reliable and less invasive for the patient

The Neuroscience of Personality is a research area of recent development. Its aim is to understand the structure and functioning of personality from current developments in neuroscience. At present, it has been able to establish meaningful relationships between different personality factors and some cognitive processes and neuropsychological functioning in clinically normal population. This research aimed to evaluate the correlations between normal childhood personality and immediate auditory memory in a group of school children with normal academic performance. We evaluated a group of 36 children aged between 6 and 8 years without a history of neurological disease, psychiatric or neuropsychological or congenital or acquired brain injury, and no family history of neurological or psychiatric disease. We performed a statistical analysis of correlations and the degrees of correlations established between the three types of immediate auditory memory and each of the 13 personality factors in children. The correlations that were significant at p < 0.05, R Pearson, corresponded to those presented between factor B (Intelligence low-high) and logical memory (371), the factor C (Emotion unstable-stable) and associative memory () .400), and factor G(Unconcerned–Conscious) and digital storage (366). The correlation analysis results are discussed from theoretical and conceptual proposals in cognitive psychology and neuroscience.

RESUMO

This article summarizes the points of view of professionals from different nationalities, working in diverse organizations and dealing with concepts and activities related to health promotion effectiveness evaluation. This collection of views came from a panel presentation and dialogue held during the First Brazilian Seminar on Effectiveness in Health Promotion. Four professionals working in evaluation and health promotion--two from the United States, one from French Canada and another representing an international professional organization--facilitated by one Brazilian and one Puerto Rican moderator, had an informal dialogue with the audience. Four questions about how these professionals perceive evaluation in health promotion were asked to initiate the dialogue. The panelists deliberated five aspects of health promotion evaluation, asking: "how", "how much", "what for", "with whom" and "why". Professionals working in developing countries (in this case, Brazil) and those dealing with indigenous communities (in developed countries) tended to put more emphasis on "what for?", "with whom?" and "why?" regarding initiatives to evaluate effectiveness of health promotion. Questions associated with "how?" and "how much?" were more often mentioned by professionals working for international or governmental agencies. A 90-minute dialogue among panelists with a clearly Brazilian bias, was not sufficient to produce conclusions on the predominant character of international evaluation efforts of effectiveness. Nevertheless, this debate framed the five aspects of evaluation into a value perspective. The questions, "what for?", "with whom?", "why?", "how?" and "how much?" are linked to a political or technical presumptions that could be orchestrated in evaluations of health promotion effectiveness.
