RESUMEN

Laser shock peening (LSP) is a powerful technique for improving the fatigue performance of metallic components by customizing compressive residual stresses in the desired near-surface regions. In this study, the residual stress distribution characteristics of 6061-T6 aluminum alloy induced by LSP were identified by the X-ray diffraction method, and their dependent factors (i.e., LSP coverage, LSP energy, and scanning path) were evaluated quantitatively by numerical simulations, exploring the formation mechanism of LSP residual stresses and the key role factor of the distribution characteristics. The results show that LSP is capable of creating anisotropic compressive residual stresses on the specimen surface without visible deformation. Compressive residual stresses are positively correlated with LSP coverage. The greater the coverage, the higher the residual stress, but the longer the scanning time required. Raising LSP energy contributes to compressive residual stresses, but excessive energy may lead to a reduction in the surface compressive residual stress. More importantly, the anisotropy of residual stresses was thoroughly explored, identifying the scanning path as the key to causing the anisotropy. The present work provides scientific guidance for efficiently tailoring LSP-induced compressive residual stresses to improve component fatigue life.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: At present, the number and overall level of ultrasound (US) doctors cannot meet the medical needs, and the medical ultrasound robots will largely solve the shortage of medical resources. METHODS: According to the degree of automation, the handheld, semi-automatic and automatic ultrasound examination robot systems are summarised. Ultrasound scanning path planning and robot control are the keys to ensure that the robot systems can obtain high-quality images. Therefore, the ultrasound scanning path planning and control methods are summarised. The research progress and future trends are discussed. RESULTS: A variety of ultrasound robot systems have been applied to various medical works. With the continuous improvement of automation, the systems provide high-quality ultrasound images and image guidance for clinicians. CONCLUSION: Although the development of medical ultrasound robot still faces challenges, with the continuous progress of robot technology and communication technology, medical ultrasound robot will have great development potential and broad application space.

To study the influence pattern of femtosecond laser scanning path on the welding effect of skin tissue, this experiment analyzed the influence of scanning path on the surface morphology, degree of thermal damage, tensile strength, and microstructure of skin samples after skin attachment by designing nine scanning paths to weld skin tissue. The results showed that the skin samples connected by interrupted parallel mattress eversion sewing method with d = 0.2 mm showed no obvious color changes in morphology, the skin samples were connected on both front and back sides, the tensile strength was the highest, reaching 12.80 N/cm2 , the thermal damage parameter was low at 1.08 × 10-2 , the microstructure had obvious directionality, and the texture was clear and uniformly distributed.

RESUMEN

A camera-based dark-field imaging system can effectively detect defects of microns on large optics by scanning and stitching sub-apertures with a small field of view. However, conventional stitching methods encounter problems of mismatches and location deviations, since few defects exist on the tested fine surface. In this paper, a highly efficient stitching method is proposed, based on a simplified target-tracking and adaptive scanning path correction. By increasing the number of sub-apertures and switching to camera perspective, the defects can be regarded as moving targets. A target-tracking procedure is firstly performed to obtain the marked targets. Then, the scanning path is corrected by minimizing the sum of deviations. The final stitching results are updated by re-using the target-tracking method. An experiment was carried out on an inspection of our specially designed testing sample. Subsequently, 118 defects were identified out of 120 truly existing defects, without stitching mismatches. The experiment results show that this method can help to reduce mismatches and location deviations of defects, and it was also effective in increasing the detectability for weak defects.
