RESUMEN

The layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have demonstrated significant potential as non-noble-metal electrocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Their unique compositional and structural properties contribute to their efficiency and stability as catalysts. In this study, CoCuFe-LDH composites were grown on graphene (G) via a cost-effective and straightforward one-step hydrothermal process. A 2-level full-factorial model was employed to determine the impact of Co (1.5, 3, and 4.5 mmol) and graphene (10, 30, and 50 mg) concentrations on the onset potential of OER and HER, which were the chosen response variables. OER and HER activity variabilities were assessed in triplicate using Co[3]Cu[3]Fe[3]-LDH/G[30] (central point), which were determined at 0.01% and 0.02%, respectively. Statistical analyses demonstrated that Co[4.5]Cu[3]Fe[3]-LDH/G[10] and Co[1.5]Cu[3]Fe[3]-LDH/G[10] showed the lowest onset potential at 1.52 V and -0.32 V (V vs RHE) for the OER and HER, respectively, suggesting that a high cobalt concentration enhances OER performance, while optimal HER catalysis was achieved with lower cobalt concentrations. Moreover, the trimetallic composites exhibited good stability with negligible loss of catalytic activity over 24 h.

The concept of factorial invariance has evolved since it originated in the 1930s as a criterion for the usefulness of the multiple factor model; it has become a form of analysis supporting the validity of inferences about group differences on underlying latent variables. The analysis of differential item functioning (DIF) arose in the literature of item response theory (IRT), where its original purpose was the detection and removal of test items that are differentially difficult for, or biased against, one subpopulation or another. The two traditions merge at the level of the underlying latent variable model, but their separate origins and different purposes have led them to differ in details of terminology and procedure. This review traces some aspects of the histories of the two traditions, ultimately drawing some conclusions about how analysts may draw on elements of both, and how the nature of the research question determines the procedures used. Whether statistical tests are grouped by parameter (as in studies of factorial invariance) or across parameters by variable (as in DIF analysis) depends on the context and is independent of the model, as are subtle aspects of the order of the tests. In any case in which DIF or partial invariance is a possibility, the invariant parameters, or anchor items in DIF analysis, are best selected in an interplay between the statistics and judgment about what is being measured.

This study validates a stability-indicating LC method for detecting organic impurities in the chlorzoxazone dosage form. Using a Waters X-Select R HSS T3 analytical column, mobile phase of it was made by mixing of water, methanol, and glacial acetic acid in the ratio of 700:300:10 (v/v/v). The drug product and drug substance were subjected to the stress conditions such as acid, base, oxidation, heat, and photolysis as per the recommendations of the International Conference on Harmonization (Q2) methodology. The study revealed the susceptibility of 4-chloro-2-aminophenol to alkaline environments, emphasizing peak homogeneity and stability. The method verification, per ICH guidelines and USP<1225>, established precision, specificity, linearity, accuracy, and robustness for quality control. The mean impurity recovery ranged from 95.5% to 105.2%, the correlation coefficient (r) was greater than 1.000, and the RSD values (n = 6) ranged from 0.6% to 5.1% across the LOQ-150% ranges. Full-factorial design tested final method conditions, evaluating multiple parameters concurrently. Graphical optimization within the design space defined strong method requirements, ensuring consistent and reliable outcomes. The study develops and validates chlorzoxazone stability-indicating methods, employing advanced statistical approaches like design of experiments and factorial design, with resilient conditions established through graphical optimization of the design space.

Objectives: The objective of the present study was to develop natural excipient-based solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) of butenafine hydrochloride (BUTE) using a modified solvent emulsification technique and to evaluate the competence of aloe vera nanolipidgel in enhancing the penetration of BUTE. Materials and Methods: BUTE-SLNs were prepared using a 23 factorial design to correlate the effect of formulation components on the BUTE-SLN. Particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, entrapment performance, and drug loading were assessed in the formed SLNs. The fabricated BUTE-SLN was evaluated for transmission electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and X-ray diffraction study studies and revealed the encapsulation of BUTE in lipid in the amorphous state. BUTE-SLN-based aloe vera gel was formulated and evaluated compared with the marketed product with respect to primary skin irritation, hydration, skin permeation, and antifungal activity. Results: The BUTE-SLN aloe vera gel, optimized for its formulation, features excellent slip properties and controlled drug release. DSC and XRD studies confirm its amorphous nature with effective drug entrapment. The gel provides enhanced skin deposition, improved antifungal activity, and reduced irritation. This makes it a cost-effective and innovative alternative to traditional dosage forms. BUTE-SLN promisingly showed no irritation, higher hydrating potential, slow and sustained release, and enhanced antifungal activity. With an aim to target deeper skin strata, minimize the side effects of drugs and symptomatic impact of fungal infection, and shorten the duration of therapy, BUTE-SLN was successfully prepared. The mean particle size and PDI were 261.25 ± 2.38 nm and 0.268 ± 0.01, respectively. Conclusion: BUTE-SLN gel offers improved topical delivery of BUTE with significantly higher compatibility and antifungal activity than the marketed formulation.

Spilled oil in ocean can spread to the shoreline and cause long-term impacts on the shoreline's ecological environment. Therefore, removing oil accumulated on shorelines is crucial. This study proposed an innovative ovalbumin (OVA) fluid-assisted method for the cleanup of oiled shoreline substrates. The oil removal efficiency of OVA fluids was systematically investigated. Higher concentrations of OVA fluids effectively enveloped and immobilized the oil, aiding in its separation from the sand surface. The increased temperature reduced the viscosity of emulsions, facilitating improved flow and oil removal. High salinity promoted the creation of oil particle aggregates molecules and facilitated the release of oil from the sand surface. The factorial analysis demonstrated that a high salt environment significantly enhances the combined impact of temperature and pH on oil removal performance. Different methods for the responsive separation of washing effluents were studied, and the most effective separation method was adjusting the pH of effluents to 4.54 (the isoelectric point of OVA). Separated precipitates exhibited good decomposition efficiency through thermal decomposition and biodegradation. OVA fluids boast advantages, such as low cost, easy recyclability, and non-toxicity, while ensuring high oil removal efficiency and making them a promising eco-friendly technique for the cleanup of oiled shorelines.

BACKGROUND: Multi-Arm, Multi-Stage (MAMS) clinical trial designs allow for multiple therapies to be compared across a spectrum of clinical trial phases. MAMS designs fall under several overarching design groups, including adaptive designs (AD) and multi-arm (MA) designs. Factorial clinical trials designs represent a combination of factorial and MAMS trial designs and can provide increased efficiency relative to fixed, traditional designs. We explore design choices associated with Factorial Adaptive Multi-Arm Multi-Stage (FAST) designs, which represent the combination of factorial and MAMS designs. METHODS: Simulation studies were conducted to assess the impact of the type of analyses, the timing of analyses, and the effect size observed across multiple outcomes on trial operating characteristics for a FAST design. Given multiple outcomes types assessed within the hypothetical trial, the primary analysis approach for each assessment varied depending on data type. RESULTS: The simulation studies demonstrate that the proposed class of FAST trial designs can offer a framework to potentially provide improvements relative to other trial designs, such as a MAMS or factorial trial. Further, we note that the design implementation decisions, such as the timing and type of analyses conducted throughout trial, can have a great impact on trial operating characteristics. CONCLUSIONS: Motivated by a trial currently under design, our work shows that the FAST category of trial can potentially offer benefits similar to both MAMS and factorial designs; however, the chosen design aspects which can be included in a FAST trial need to be thoroughly explored during the planning phase.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Children's Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CEBQ) among Chinese preschool children aged 2-5 years. Additionally, we investigated the associations between eating behaviors assessed by the CEBQ and body mass index (BMI). METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of Chinese preschool children aged 2 to 5 years (n = 11,780). The CEBQ was employed to assess participants' eating behaviors, and factor analysis of the CEBQ was conducted; sex and age differences in eating behaviors were examined. Correlations between children's BMI z scores and eating behaviors were analyzed via linear regression analysis controlling for age; sex; ethnicity; maternal age, education level, ethnicity and BMI; paternal age, education level, ethnicity and BMI. RESULTS: The factor analysis confirmed the eight-factor structure of the CEBQ, which explained 67.57% of the total variance. Two items were excluded owing to low factor loadings. The subscales showed satisfactory internal reliability (Cronbach's alpha range: 0.76-0.90). Significant sex and age differences were observed for several CEBQ subscales, and BMI z scores were found to be associated with various eating behavior subscales. CONCLUSIONS: This study's findings support the validity and reliability of the CEBQ for assessing eating behaviors among Chinese preschool children, and children's eating behaviors might be affected by age and sex. Furthermore, BMI was found to be associated with specific eating behaviors. Understanding these associations can inform interventions that promote healthy eating habits in this population.

The main concern with concrete at high temperatures is loss of strength and explosive spalling, which are more pronounced in high-strength concretes, such as Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC). The use of polymeric fibers in the mixture helps control chipping, increasing porosity and reducing internal water vapor pressure, but their addition can impact its mechanical properties and workability. This study evaluated the physical and mechanical properties of UHPC with metallic and PVA fibers under high temperatures using a 23 central composite factorial design. The consistency of fresh UHPC and the compressive strength and elasticity modulus of hardened UHPC were measured. Above 300 °C, both compressive strength and elasticity modulus decreased drastically. Although the addition of PVA fibers reduced fluidity, it decreased the loss of compressive strength after exposure to high temperatures. The response surface indicates that the ideal mixture-1.65% steel fiber and 0.50% PVA fiber-achieved the highest compressive strength, both at room temperature and at high temperatures. However, PVA fibers did not protect UHPC against explosive spalling at the levels used in this research.

This study explores how gender and age interact in shaping beliefs about fair pay through a factorial survey experiment conducted with German employees. Respondents evaluated hypothetical worker descriptions varying in age, gender, and earnings. While no gender gap in fair earnings was found for the youngest hypothetical workers, a significant gap favoring men emerged with increasing age. This suggests that male workers receive a higher age premium on fair earnings than female workers. The findings highlight the need to understand how gender interacts with other characteristics to legitimize workplace inequalities.

BACKGROUND: The concept of quality in health care has evolved, placing greater importance on the patient's needs, culture, and social context, as well as their participation in clinical decision-making, as highlighted by Mead and Bower's Person-Centered Care Model. The aim of the present study was to design and validate an instrument to assess the extent to which healthcare services provided by PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos) offer person-centered care according to user perceptions. METHODS: The first phase comprised the development of 57 items based on the analysis of responses from an open-ended questionnaire administered to 30 users of Pemex healthcare services. This questionnaire was designed considering the four factors of the person-centered care model, however, the high correlation between the 4 factors (i.e., r ≥ .80) indicated an overfactoring effect and consequently an increase in the risk of overfitting. Therefore, an exhaustive analysis of the instrument was performed, starting with the review of the individual behavior of each item, and carrying out exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Using a sample of 330 individuals, an exploratory factor analysis was perfomed. Afterward, a confirmatory factorial analysis was carried out with 335 participants. Finally, a new confirmatory factorial analysis included 130 participants due to the refinements made in the previous phase. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω at every phase. RESULTS: The exploratory factor analysis retained 35 items in a single factor that accounted for 49% of the variance with an internal consistency of Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω = 0.97. Because the factorial structure by confirmatory factorial analysis was unsatisfactory, the initial model was refined, leading to the retention of 11 items and a final model with adjustment index of χ2 = 127.53, χ2/gl = 2.89, RMSEA = 0.07, IC RMSEA 0.06 to 0.09, TLI = 0.95 and CFI = 0.96, with an internal consistency of Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω = 0.93. Due to the refinements, a new confirmatory factorial analysis was conducted with suitable goodness-of-fit criteria in most items (χ2 = 151.44, χ2/gl = 3.43, RMSEA = 0.13, IC RMSEA 0.11 to 0.16, TLI = 0.93 and CFI = 0.94), resulting in a Cronbach's α and McDonald's ω = 0.98. CONCLUSIONS: The instrument exhibits suitable psychometric properties to be employed to measure the degree to which medical care is patient centered. This instrument represents a strategy for promoting an innovative healthcare model.

Background: Adherence to adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) is low in women with breast cancer, which increases the risk of recurrence and mortality. A consistently reported barrier to adherence is low perceived necessity of AET and high concerns. Existing interventions to support medication beliefs have mixed effectiveness and rarely target medication beliefs specifically. We developed an information leaflet with five candidate components aiming to increase necessity beliefs about AET and reduce concerns; (1) diagrams explaining how AET works; (2) icon arrays displaying the benefits of AET; (3) information about the prevalence of side-effects; (4) answers to common concerns and (5) quotes and pictures from breast cancer survivors. Guided by the multiphase optimisation strategy (MOST), we aimed to optimise the content of the information leaflet. We planned for the dataset to be open access to provide an exemplar for other investigators to use. Methods: The content of the leaflet was optimised in a fully powered online 2 5 factorial experiment. Each candidate component of the leaflet was operationalised as a factor with two levels; on vs off or enhanced vs basic. Healthy women (n=1604) completed the beliefs about medicines questionnaire and were randomised to view one of 32 versions of the information leaflet. The 32 versions comprised unique combinations of the factor levels corresponding to the five candidate intervention components. Time spent on the information leaflet page of the survey was recorded. After viewing the information leaflet, participants completed the beliefs about medicines questionnaire again, a true/false questionnaire assessing their objective knowledge of AET, a subjective rating of their knowledge of AET, and a questionnaire evaluating their satisfaction with the information they received. Importance of this dataset: The factorial dataset provides the opportunity for other investigators interested in using the MOST framework to learn about complex factorial designs, using a real dataset.


Most women with breast cancer are treated with adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) to reduce the chance of breast cancer coming back. However, many women do not take the medication as recommended. Women's beliefs about the medication are a common reason for not taking AET. Some women do not think AET will help them, and some women have lots of concerns about AET. At the moment, we do not know the best way to change women's beliefs about AET. Therefore, we ran a study to help us understand what combination of information might help change women's beliefs about AET. We developed a written information leaflet with five parts; (1) diagrams about how AET works; (2) visual figures of the benefits of AET; (3) information about how likely each side-effect is; (4) answers to common concerns about AET; and (5) pictures and quotes from women who have taken AET. In an online survey, 1,604 healthy women answered questions about their beliefs about the medication. Each woman was shown one version of the information leaflet picked at random. There were 32 possible versions of the information leaflet, which contained unique combinations of the five parts of the leaflet. After women read the leaflet, they were asked to complete the same questionnaire about their beliefs about the medication. They were also asked questions about how satisfied they were with the information they received, true or false questions about AET to assess their knowledge after reading the leaflet, and a rating of how informed they felt about AET. We also recorded how long women spent looking at the leaflet. One of our aims was to make the dataset from this experiment openly available so other scientists could use it to learn how to conduct similar experiments.

Olive leaves are a rich source of polyphenols with healthful properties and represent one of the most abundant waste products of olive oil production. The aims of this study were to explore the phenolic composition of olive leaves from the three main Tuscan cultivars (Leccino, Moraiolo and Frantoio) collected in Siena and Grosseto provinces and to investigate the possible use of these compounds as varietal and geographic origin markers. Discriminant factorial analysis (DFA) was used for distinguishing between different cultivars and locations. Apigenin and caffeoyl-secologanoside showed significant differences between cultivars. DFA showed that ligstroside, apigenin and luteolin have the most influence in determining the differences between sites, whereas total polyphenols, olacein and hydroxytyrosol acetate allowed for separation between leaves from the same province. The results of the present study indicate that concentrations of phenolic compounds, measured through high-resolution mass spectrometry, can be used as a marker for both the cultivar and of geographical origin of olive leaves, and possibly of olive-related products, as well as across small geographic scales (less than 50 km distance between sites).

In practical visual search fields, observers often encounter errors that result from an unknown number of targets, which may induce reduced accuracy and speed. Our current study addresses the potential enhancement of collaborative search efficiency as a dyad to mitigate such incurred search costs. Utilizing the capacity coefficient, we evaluated search efficiency and explored the interplay of task difficulty and termination rule in collaborative visual search. Our prediction that collaborative benefits increased with elevated task difficulty was not supported in Experiment 1, where participants were tasked with judging the presence of any target. In contrast, Experiment 2 demonstrated that dyads exhibited greater search efficiency during exhaustive searches for multiple targets with elevated task difficulty. Notably, our findings indicated an advantage in dyad searches compared to baseline predictions from individual searches. Our results underscored the significance of task difficulty and termination rules in leveraging human resources for improved collaborative visual search performance.

Material Extrusion (MEX), particularly Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), is the most widespread among the additive manufacturing (AM) technologies. To further its development, understanding the influence of the various printing parameters on the manufactured parts is required. The effects of varying the infill percentage, the number of layers of the top and bottom surfaces and the number of layers of the side surfaces on the tensile properties of the printed parts were studied by using a full factorial design. The tensile test results allowed a direct comparison of each of the three parameters' influence on the tensile properties of the parts to be conducted. Yield strength appears to be the most affected by the number of layers of the top and bottom surfaces, which has twice the impact of the number of layers of the side surfaces, which is already twice as impactful as the infill percentage. Young's modulus is the most influenced by the number of layers of the top and bottom surfaces, then by the infill percentage and finally by the number of layers of the side surfaces. Two mathematical models were considered in this work. The first one was a polynomial model, which allowed the yield strength to be calculated as a function of the three parameters mentioned previously. The coefficients of this model were obtained by performing tensile tests on nine groups of printed samples, each with different printing parameters. Each group consisted of three samples. A second simplified model was devised, replacing the numbers of layers on the side and top/bottom surfaces with their fractions of the cross-section surface area of the specimen. This model provided results with a better correlation with the experimental results. Further tests inside and outside the parameter ranges initially chosen for the model were performed. The experimental results aligned well with the predictions and made it possible to assess the accuracy of the model, indicating the latter to be sufficient and reliable. The accuracy of the model was assessed through the R2 value obtained, R2 = 92.47%. This was improved to R2 = 97.32% when discarding material infill as an input parameter.

In the present study, the influence of the electrical parameters of the pulsed electrospinning process, such as the electrical voltage, the frequency of pulses, and the pulse duration, on the structure of obtained nonwovens was determined for the first time. It was found that all the parameters studied strongly influence the average diameter of the obtained fibers and that the pulsed electrospinning process carried out under specific conditions makes it possible to obtain, among other things, bimodal nonwovens. A 23 factorial design was used to determine how the selected electrical parameters of the pulsed electrospinning process affect the structure of the resulting electrospun mats. It is shown, among other things, that by appropriately selecting the parameters of the electrospinning process, the thickness of fibers can be controlled, resulting in nonwovens with a desired morphology.

Many notable applications have been described for magnetic nanoparticles in delivery of diverse drugs and bioactive compounds into cells, magnetofection for the treatment of cancer, photodynamic therapy, photothermal therapy, and magnetic particle imaging (MPI). In response to the growing demand for magnetic nanoparticles for drug delivery or biomedical imaging applications, more effective and eco-friendly methodologies are required for large-scale biosynthesis of this nanoparticles. The major challenge in the large-scale biomedical application of magnetic nanoparticles lies in its low efficiency and optimization of nanoparticle production can address this issue. In the current study, a prediction model is suggested by the fractional factorial designs. The present study aims to optimize culture media components for improved growth and iron uptake of this strain. The result of optimization for iron uptake by the strain ASFS1 is to increase the production of magnetic nanoparticles by this strain for biomedical applications in the future. In the present study, design of experiment method was used to probe the effects of some key medium components (yeast extract, tryptone, FeSO4, Na2-EDTA, and FeCl3) on Fe content in biomass and dried biomass of strain ASFS1. A 25-1 fractional factorial design showed that Na2-EDTA, FeCl3, yeast extract-tryptone interaction, and FeSO4-Na2-EDTA interaction were the most parameters on Fe content in biomass within the experimented levels (p < 0.05), while yeast extract, FeCl3, and yeast extract-tryptone interaction were the most significant factors within the experimented levels (p < 0.05) to effect on dried biomass of strain ASFS1. The optimum culture media components for the magnetic nanoparticles production by strain ASFS1 was reported to be 7.95 g L-1 of yeast extract, 5 g L-1 of tryptone, 75 µg mL-1 of FeSO4, 192.3 µg mL-1 of Na2-EDTA and 150 µg mL-1 of FeCl3 which was theoretically able to produce Fe content in biomass (158 µg mL-1) and dried biomass (2.59 mg mL-1) based on the obtained for medium optimization. Using these culture media components an experimental maximum Fe content in biomass (139 ± 13 µg mL-1) and dried biomass (2.2 ± 0.2 mg mL-1) was obtained, confirming the efficiency of the used method.

In an effort to tackle the skin reactions frequently observed with topical application of ivermectin (IVM), a study was conducted to develop and optimize transethosomes (TESMs) loaded with IVM for scabies treatment. A three-factor, two-level (23) full factorial design was employed. Soyabean phosphatidylcholine concentration (A), ethanol concentration (B) and Span 60 amount (C) were studied as independent factors, while entrapment efficiency (EE), particle size (PS), polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential (ZP) and drug release after 6 h (Q6h) were characterized. The skin sensitivity of the optimized formulation was evaluated by skin irritation test and histopathological examination. The EE% ranged from 88.55 ± 0.576% to 94.13 ± 0.305%, PS was from 318.033 ± 45.61 nm to 561.400 ± 45.17 nm, PDI was from 0.328 ± 0.139 to 0.671 ± 0.103, ZP was from -54.13 ± 1.09 mV to -60.50 ± 2.34 mV and Q6h was from 66.20 ± 0.30% to 93.46 ± 0.86%. The IVM-loaded transethosomal cream showed lower skin irritation and a more intact epidermal layer with intact keratinocyte, compared to the marketed cream which showed severe destruction of the keratin layer. Therefore, patient compliance can be improved by encapsulating IVM within TESMs to minimize its skin reactions.

Sulphidation of nZVI (S-nZVI) has shown to significantly improve the arsenic removal capacity of nZVI, concurrently modifying the sequestration mechanism. However, to better apply S-nZVI for groundwater arsenic remediation, the impact of groundwater coexisting ions on the efficacy of arsenic uptake by S-nZVI needs to be investigated. This present study evaluates the potential of S-nZVI to remove arsenic in the presence of typical groundwater coexisting ions such as Cl-, HA, HCO3-, PO43- and SO42- through batch adsorption experiments. Individually, PO43- and HA had a dominant inhibition effect, while SO42- promoted As(III) removal by S-nZVI. Conversely, for As(V) removal, HCO3- and SO42- impeded the removal process. X-ray spectroscopic investigation suggests that the coexisting ions can either compete with arsenic for the adsorption sites, influence the S-nZVI corrosion rates and/or generate distinct corrosion products, thereby interfering with arsenic removal by S-nZVI. To investigate the cumulative effects of these ions, a 25-1 Fractional Factorial Design of experiments was employed, wherein the concentration of all the ions were varied simultaneously in an optimized manner, and their impact on arsenic removal by S-nZVI was observed. Our results shows that when these ions are present concurrently, PO43-, SO42- and HA still exerted a dominant influence on As(III) removal, whereas HCO3- was the main ions affecting As(V) removal, although the combined influence of the ions was not merely a summation of their individual effects. Overall, the finding of our study might provide valuable insight for predicting the actual performance of S-nZVI in field-scale applications for the remediation of arsenic-contaminated groundwater.

OBJECTIVES: Most studies examining age differences in coping across adulthood come from cross-sectional studies and focus on the broader categories of problem- and emotion-focused coping. We aimed to establish a factor structure for coping items used in a national, longitudinal study of aging (MIDUS) and examine age patterns in coping strategies over 10 years. METHOD: We performed exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, and factorial invariance testing. Next we conducted a series of multilevel models for each coping factor with participants from waves II and III of the MIDUS study (N = 2,661, Mage = 55, 58% women, 84% White). RESULTS: We found a four-factor solution: instrumental action; denial/disengagement; positive reappraisal; focus and venting of emotions. Invariance was established across time and age. At baseline, age was positively associated with the use of three strategies, though younger adults used more focus and venting of emotions. There was an overall decrease over 10 years in use of all strategies, which was moderated by age. Positive reappraisal declined more steeply among midlife participants, whereas the remaining strategies declined more for older participants. CONCLUSION: Results highlight the multi-dimensionality of MIDUS coping items and underscores the import of age in understanding changes in coping across midlife and older adulthood.

Objectives Resilience is the ability to navigate adversity and recover from challenging situations. Developing resilience at a young age promotes mental health and provides benefits throughout one's lifespan. Validated measures for assessing resilience at a young age are required in both clinical practice and epidemiological studies. The Child and Youth Resilience Measure-Revised (CYRM-R) is a tool used worldwide to assess resilience in children and young people. The objective of this study was to develop a Japanese version of the CYRM-R and investigate its psychometric properties.Methods Children in grades 5-9 were recruited via a two-stage cluster random sampling taken from the Japan Adolescent and Youth (JAY) Longitudinal Cohort Study. The participants completed the Japanese version of the CYRM-R . The CYRM-R consists of two subscales, personal resilience and caregiver resilience, with a total of 17 items. The linguistic validity of the Japanese version of the CYRM-R was ensured through translation and back-translation.Cronbach's alpha coefficients were examined for the total score and the two subscales to assess the internal consistency of the Japanese version of the CYRM-R scale. In addition, correlation coefficients of the subscales were calculated. For factorial validity, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted on the same two-factor structure as in the original version to assess the model's goodness of fit. Results A total of 2,266 children (50.0% male) were included in the study. The overall Cronbach's alpha of the Japanese version of the CYRM-R obtained from this sample was 0.956; For the personal resilience subscale, Cronbach's alpha was 0.932; for the caregiver resilience subscale, it was 0.919. Significant positive correlations were also found between subscales (r = 0.827, p < 0.001). A confirmatory factor analysis was conducted using a two-factor structure for validity. The model fit was good (RMSEA = 0.085, SRMR = 0.041, CFI = 0.934).Conclusion The Japanese version of the CYRM-R maintained the same two-factor structure as the original version. The study findings showed that the Japanese version of the CYRM-R had adequate internal consistency and factorial validity for assessing resilience in children and youth. Therefore, this scale is a valuable tool for identifying individuals or groups at risk in terms of children's resilience and for evaluating the effectiveness of support and interventions.
