RESUMO
Because men are living longer than in the past, they are now exposed to an increased risk of morbity and mortality, since the incidence of prostate carcinoma rises as men age.The diagnosis of prostate carcinoma may be suspected by digital retal examination(DRE)PROSTATE SPECIFIC ANTIGEN(PSA) and transrectal ultrasonography(TRUS).The highes index of suspicion comes from utilizing DRE and PSA annually as studies to point out those patients in whom further examination by TRUS is prudent. The ultrasonography-guided biopsy is perfomed for any area that is tactilely or visually suspicious, reserving six-extant biopsy for patients who have PSA elevation disproportionale to gland size
