RESUMEN
El programa de Pesquisa Neonatal Ampliada ofrecido a los Recién Nacidos de sala Cuna a partir del 2007, a través de un convenio con el laboratorio de Enfermedades Metabólicas del INTA, y el programa de Pesquisa precoz de hipoacusia congénita iniciado en forma pionera en Chile en 2001, ambos de Clínica Las Condes, siguen la tendencia en países desarrollados de ofrecer la posibilidad de diagnóstico y tratamientos oportunos de enfermedades congénitas gracias al progresivo avance tecnológico y del conocimiento médico. Se revisa en breve la historia de las pesquisas neonatales, la racionalidad e indicación de su realización, y se enumeran las enfermedades que se buscan por esta nueva pesquisa. Se realiza una descripción breve de algunas de estas enfermedades a modo de ejemplo y se analiza el fundamento detrás de la pesquisa neonatal con Emisiones Otoacústicas, la metodología empleada y los resultados obtenidos hasta el 2006.
ABSTRACT
The expanded neonatal screening test offered to all newborns in the Nursery since 2007 by a combined program with the Laboratory of metabolic diseases of INTA, and the Early Congenital Deafness detection program who starts as the first national program in Chile in 2001, both from Clínica Las Condes, follow the tendency of early diagnosis and treatment of Congenital Diseases seen in developed countries as a consequence of the continuous technological and medical knowledge improvement. A brief review is done of the history of neonatal screening and the rationality of its use and indication, and a list of the diseases searched by this new screening is presented. The article continue with a brief description of some of the specific diseases searched by the new expanded neonatal screening and finish with the background and details of the Otoacustic Emissions method used in the early Congenital Detection Program, showing the results obtained until the year 2006.
