This article aims to report the experience of psychological treatment offered to a patient who lived in a hospital specialized in mental health. He presented symptoms of self and hetero-aggressive outbursts, in addition to a ritual of spreading his own feces on the hospital walls. An intervention with the use of clay was proposed as an expressive resource. This material was shown to the patient during the sessions that occurred three times a week over one year. During the process, it was possible to see the improvement on the aggressive symptoms and the remission of the rituals with the feces. The clay provided the de-potentialization of the aggressive contents of the client's psyche and acted as an intermediary object between patient and therapist.

The aim of this article is to analyze the visual media production of a psychiatric patient, seeking to understand the material as an expression of his psychic dynamics. A case study was carried out with a visitor of a community center in a psychiatric hospital in the state of São Paulo. Some works of art were chosen for the study after participative observation in the studio. To assist in the analysis of the paintings, an interview was conducted with the participant, focusing on his life story and comments regarding the art he produced. Through painting, it was noticed that there was a de-potentialization of threatening content from the client's psyche. It can also be observed that painting provided an expressive space for the participant to deal with fantasies of his internal world.

RESUMO
The present study evaluated the effect of the aqueous extract from leaves of E. speciosa on some physiological and biochemical parameters of reproduction and the onset of puberty in pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG)-primed immature female rats. High pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to quantify the phenolic compounds in the methanol/methylene chloride (1:1) extract, the ethanolic and ethyl acetate fractions and the aqueous residue of E. speciosa. E. speciosa (0, 8, 32 or 64 mg/kg) were administered for 15 days to 24 non-PMSG-primed and 24 primed rats with 0.01 IU of PMSG. At the end of the treatment period, animal were sacrificed and their body, ovarian, uterine weight, ovarian protein or cholesterol level, as well as data on puberty onset were recorded. Of the 16 polyphenolic compounds quantitatively revealed in the extracts and fractions of E. speciosa after HPLC analysis, quercetin, rutin, apigenin and eugenol were the most abundant. Non-primed rats showed a significant increase (P < 0.05) in the uterine relative weight at the dose of 8 mg/kg when compared with the other treatments. The uterine proteins and the ovarian cholesterol (P < 0.05), respectively, showed a reduction at doses of 64 mg/kg and 32 mg/kg in non-primed rats. However in PMSG-primed rats, a significant decrease (P < 0.05) was observed in ovarian cholesterol at 64 mg/kg. In conclusion, E. speciosa potentializes the PMSG-inducing effect on folliculogenesis in PMSG-primed rats.

INTRODUCTION: Despite progress in understanding the pathophysiology of the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), it remains a devastating clinical disorder associated with high mortality rates, and those who survive can experience significant long-term morbidity. Recent advances in the management of ARDS have mostly been achieved in supportive care, including the use of protective mechanical ventilation, neuromuscular blocking agents, prone positioning, and conservative fluid strategies. However, to date, no pharmacologic therapy has been able to act effectively on disease-specific pathways or to reduce mortality. In this context, current advances in understanding the potential roles of alternative approaches, such as cell therapy, offer new hope for ARDS. AREAS COVERED: This review discusses the use of mesenchymal stromal (stem) cells (MSCs) in pre-clinical experimental models of ARDS and in ongoing clinical trials. EXPERT OPINION: Through the secretion of soluble mediators and extracellular vesicles, MSCs have been shown to modulate inflammation, enhance bacterial clearance, and reduce organ injury and death, making them a potential novel treatment for ARDS. Initial clinical trials have demonstrated the safety of MSC administration in patients with ARDS but further investigations are required to further characterize the efficacy profile of these therapies.
