RESUMO

Service-dominant logic established that for the success of service industries, it is vital to acknowledge the customer as an active agent in the commercial ecosystem. To carry it out, the consumer must participate in value creation. The resource integration theory exposes the importance of recognizing the customer as an agent capable of improving the company's competitive advantage. It is only necessary for the participants to perceive benefits to make their resources available and integrate them into the co-creation process. This study aims to find the key customer-based factors that influence the brand value co-creation (VCC) process in the banking sector, analyzing the dynamics in different customers across national cultures and idiosyncrasies. In this paper, we analyze the potential heterogeneous idiosyncrasy of customers and how it leads to becoming more engaged in the co-creation process. Quantitative research was performed in five countries, obtaining a total of 2,029 valid questionnaires where latent profile analyses and ANOVAs were performed to identify and describe the latent profiles (LPA) of consumer co-creators of brand value. Afterward, a PLS-SEM was performed to test the research model in each segment. The results show four different profiles of customer co-creators of brand value, from non-co-creators (detractors), skeptical and neutral, to customers committed to co-creating brand value with their banks. The results indicate that detractor customers lack the motivations and resources to carry out co-creation behaviors. On the other hand, creativity and connectedness were crucial for customers co-creators of value. To the authors' understanding, no studies have used latent segmentation to find the profiles of customer co-creators of brand value.

RESUMO

Avian diversity in the Neotropics has been traditionally attributed to the effect of vicariant forces promoting speciation in allopatry. Recent studies have shown that phylogeographical patterns shared among codistributed species cannot be explained by a single vicariant event, as species responses to a common barrier depend on the biological attributes of each taxon. The open vegetation corridor (OVC) isolates Amazonia and the Andean forests from the Atlantic Forest, creating a notorious pattern of avian taxa that are disjunctly codistributed in these forests. Here, we studied and compared the evolutionary histories of Ramphotrigon megacephalum and Pipraeidea melanonota, two passerines with allopatric populations east and west of the OVC that represent different subspecies. These species differ in their biological attributes: R. megacephalum is a sedentary, forest specialist mostly confined to bamboo understorey, whereas P. melanonota is a seasonal migrant and generalist species that ranges in a variety of closed and semi-open environments. We performed genetic and genomic analyses, complemented with the study of coloration and behavioural differentiation, to assess population divergence across the OVC. We found that the evolutionary histories of both R. megacephalum and P. melanonota have been shaped by this environmental barrier. However, these species responded in different and asynchronous manners to the establishment of the OVC and to past connections between the currently isolated South American forests, which can be mostly explained by their distinct ecologies and dispersal abilities. Our results support the fact that the biological attributes of species can make their evolutionary histories idiosyncratic.

The sulfasalazine is widely used in inflammatory bowel disease, especially in mild and moderate ulcerative rectocolitis. However, its use is related to several side effects, including severe liver dysfunction. We report the case of male patient, 21 years, with the moderate ulcerative rectocolitis, complaining of inappetence, fever, arthralgia and jaundice for seven days. Personal history includes use of sulfasalazine 4 g/day during six weeks. The physical examination revealed jaundiced, with members in rash and lower extremity edema. Laboratory exams showed an increase in bilirubin, liver enzymes and canalicular and C-reactive protein. With the diagnosis of hepatotoxicity by sulfasalazine, this medication was suspended, and introduced prednisone 20 mg/day and ciprofloxacin 1g/day. He was discharged on the third day of admission after clinical and laboratorial improvement. Currently, he is asymptomatic and in use of azathioprine 150 mg/day.
