RESUMO

Video tracking involves detecting previously designated objects of interest within a sequence of image frames. It can be applied in robotics, unmanned vehicles, and automation, among other fields of interest. Video tracking is still regarded as an open problem due to a number of obstacles that still need to be overcome, including the need for high precision and real-time results, as well as portability and low-power demands. This work presents the design, implementation and assessment of a low-power embedded system based on an SoC-FPGA platform and the honeybee search algorithm (HSA) for real-time video tracking. HSA is a meta-heuristic that combines evolutionary computing and swarm intelligence techniques. Our findings demonstrated that the combination of SoC-FPGA and HSA reduced the consumption of computational resources, allowing real-time multiprocessing without a reduction in precision, and with the advantage of lower power consumption, which enabled portability. A starker difference was observed when measuring the power consumption. The proposed SoC-FPGA system consumed about 5 Watts, whereas the CPU-GPU system required more than 200 Watts. A general recommendation obtained from this research is to use SoC-FPGA over CPU-GPU to work with meta-heuristics in computer vision applications when an embedded solution is required.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Displeasure with the functionality of clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) is considered the primary challenge in CDSS development. A major difficulty in CDSS design is matching the functionality to the desired and actual clinical workflow. Computer-interpretable guidelines (CIGs) are used to formalize medical knowledge in clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) in a computable language. However, existing CIG frameworks require a specific interpreter for each CIG language, hindering the ease of implementation and interoperability. OBJECTIVE: This paper aims to describe a different approach to the representation of clinical knowledge and data. We intended to change the clinician's perception of a CDSS with sufficient expressivity of the representation while maintaining a small communication and software footprint for both a web application and a mobile app. This approach was originally intended to create a readable and minimal syntax for a web CDSS and future mobile app for antenatal care guidelines with improved human-computer interaction and enhanced usability by aligning the system behavior with clinical workflow. METHODS: We designed and implemented an architecture design for our CDSS, which uses the model-view-controller (MVC) architecture and a knowledge engine in the MVC architecture based on XML. The knowledge engine design also integrated the requirement of matching clinical care workflow that was desired in the CDSS. For this component of the design task, we used a work ontology analysis of the CPGs for antenatal care in our particular target clinical settings. RESULTS: In comparison to other common CIGs used for CDSSs, our XML approach can be used to take advantage of the flexible format of XML to facilitate the electronic sharing of structured data. More importantly, we can take advantage of its flexibility to standardize CIG structure design in a low-level specification language that is ubiquitous, universal, computationally efficient, integrable with web technologies, and human readable. CONCLUSIONS: Our knowledge representation framework incorporates fundamental elements of other CIGs used in CDSSs in medicine and proved adequate to encode a number of antenatal health care CPGs and their associated clinical workflows. The framework appears general enough to be used with other CPGs in medicine. XML proved to be a language expressive enough to describe planning problems in a computable form and restrictive and expressive enough to implement in a clinical system. It can also be effective for mobile apps, where intermittent communication requires a small footprint and an autonomous app. This approach can be used to incorporate overlapping capabilities of more specialized CIGs in medicine.

RESUMO

Microgrids (MG) treat local energy supply issues effectively and from a point of view of the distribution grid, may be a power supply or virtual load. Despite holding a myriad of benefits, MGs also bear a set of challenges, including a higher fault rate. Currently, many articles focus on control techniques; however, little has been written about the techniques of control, hierarchical control, and fault-tolerant control (FTC) applied to MGs, which is the motive of this bibliographic revision on control systems. A brief comparison of the different approaches in the field of present-day research is carried out primarily addressing hierarchical control and fault tolerance. The objective of this investigation is to attract the interest of researchers to the field of control and fault tolerance applied to MGs, such as: modeling, testbed, benchmark systems, control and hierarchical control strategies, fault diagnosis and FTC.

The effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy has rendered HIV infection a manageable chronic condition. Currently, the health systems face the challenge of adopting organizational healthcare models capable of ensuring the delivery of comprehensive care. The Chronic Care Model has been reported for its effectiveness, particularly in terms of delivery system design. In this study, the Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (ACIC) questionnaire, a soft technology widely used for other chronic conditions, was employed on a teaching hospital to evaluate healthcare provided to people living with HIV/AIDS. The ACIC technology is a self-explanatory instrument which diagnoses, among the six components of the Chronic Care Model Framework, areas for quality improvements, indicating at the same time, intervention strategies and achievements. These components are healthcare network organization, delivery system design, self-management support, decision support, clinical information systems, and community. From May to October 2014, the tool was applied to the multidisciplinary teamwork at the points of care identified, as well as to the hospital management board. Respondents broadly rated care as basic. A pronounced contrast was observed from evaluation by management board and health professional staff in some components like organization of healthcare and clinical information system. The self-management support and delivery system design were the components best evaluated by the multidisciplinary team. Combined with the array of services offered, the entry points available at the hospital can ensure healthcare comprehensiveness. However, some gaps were detected, precluding the delivery of an effective care. The ACIC was considered an adequate technology to provide knowledge of the gaps, to promote productive discussions and reflections within teams and to indicate actions to achieve improvements on healthcare for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Fundamento: La mayoría de los sitios web utilizan galerías de imágenes para mostrar sus productos y servicios, la página web del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus no tenía una galería de imágenes médicas donde los profesionales de la salud pudieran compartir, organizar y preservar el patrimonio fotográfico de las Ciencias Médicas del territorio. Objetivo: Proponer una Galería de imágenes en el sitio web del Centro Provincial de Información de Ciencias Médicas de la de Sancti Spíritus. Desarrollo: Para el diseño de esta Galería se utilizó el sistema de gestión de contenidos Drupal porque es totalmente gratuito, personalizable, muy potente y flexible, incorpora las funcionalidades más comunes, es prácticamente un estándar "de facto", facilita la internacionalización, facilita la escalabilidad, el sistema implementado constituye un medio idóneo para lograr el acceso abierto a las imágenes médicas. Conclusiones: La Galería de imágenes médicas del sitio web es una fuente de consulta para los profesionales de la salud, esta contribuye a la actividad docente, asistencial e investigadora de los profesionales.


Background: Most of the web sites use galleries of images to show their products and services, the web site of the Provincial Center of Information of the Medical Sciences University of Sancti Spíritus didn't have a gallery of medical images where the professionals of the health could share, organize and preserve the photographic patrimony of the Medical Sciences in the territor. Objective: To propose a Gallery of images in the web site of the Provincial Center of Information of Medical Sciences University of Sancti Spíritus. Development: For the design of this Gallery the system of administration of contained Drupal was used because it is completely free, customizable, very potent and flexible, it incorporates the most common functionalities, it is practically a standard "of facto", it facilitates the internationalization, it facilitates the scalability, the implemented system constitutes a suitable mean to achieve the open access to the medical images Conclusions: The Gallery of medical images of the web site is a consultation source for the professionals of the health, it contributes to educational, assistance activity and investigative of professionals.

In this work we describe the development of a program that simulates the propagation of photons through refractive and reflecting optical components such as lenses, mirrors and stops that includes a biological tissue sample as the main issue to be investigated in order to get a simulated value of light distribution, in particular, of the unscattered light. The analysis of the photons that travel through the sample is based on the program Monte Carlo Multi-Layered with some modifications that consider a Gaussian beam as initial source of light. Position, directional cosines and weight of photons exiting the turbid media are used to propagate them through an optical system. As a mean of validation of the program, we selected a typical optical system for measurement of collimated transmittance. Therefore, several tests were carried out to find the optical system that gives the theoretical collimated transmittance at different values of the optical properties of the turbid media. Along this validation, the optimal experimental configuration is found. Using this results, a comparison between the simulated optimal configuration and the experimental set-up was done, by using a colloidal suspension as a turbid media.

A informação é um de grandes combustíveis da prática dos cuidados. A Enfermagem foi instada a desenvolver sistemas de informação em ambiente informatizado. Os autores do artigo atual, desenvolvendo sua atividade de Enfermagem num Centro de Dia para idosos, desenvolveram uma aplicação informática de registros de Enfermagem, que otimizou o trabalho de Enfermagem. O presente artigo tem o desiderato de explanar o processo de criação e desenvolvimento da aplicação e debater os contributos da mesma para a prática de Enfermagem.


Information is a major fuel of nursing practice. Nursing was asked to develop information systems in computerized environment. The authors of the current article, developing its business in Nursing Day Centre for oldery people, developed a computer application to recording health information, which has optimized the work of nursing. This article is the desideratum of explaining the process of creating and development of the application and discuss the contributions to the same practice of Nursing.


La información es un combustible importante de la práctica de la enfermería. De enfermería se le pidió a desarrollar sistemas de información en el entorno informático. Los autores del presente artículo, el desarrollo de su negocio en el Centro de Día de enfermería para las personas mayores, ha desarrollado una aplicación informática de los registros de enfermería, lo que optimiza el trabajo de enfermería.Este artículo tiene el objetivo de explicar el proceso de creación y desarrollo de aplicaciones y estudiar las contribuciones a la misma práctica de Enfermería.

La creación y la innovación son parte esencial de la vida en todas sus esferas; para cualquier rama de la economía, constituye un componente básico. El registro, la protección y la remuneración de esa actividad creadora están amparados por leyes que contienen las disposiciones normativas que conforman lo que se conoce como Sistema Internacional de la Propiedad Intelectual. La propiedad intelectual comprende el derecho de autor y los derechos conexos, así como la propiedad industrial, y se encuentra organizada en sistemas, por países, sectores o instituciones. La organización de la propiedad intelectual en sistemas institucionales es una prioridad en nuestro país y constituye una garantía para la sociedad, porque permite identificar la creación desde su concepción, insertarla en la modalidad correspondiente y decidir si publicar, proteger o mantener en secreto. Mucho se escribe sobre propiedad intelectual; sin embargo, no resulta fácil encontrar una metodología que sirva de guía para la organización sistémica de esta actividad en las organizaciones. El propósito de la presente contribución es proponer una guía metodológica para su diseño.


Creation and innovation are essential processes in all life contexts; it is a basic component for any economy branch and also it is an essential component. The registration, protection and remuneration of this creative activity because of they protected by laws containing the normative dispositions conforming what is known as International System of the Intellectual Copyright which includes the copyright and related rights, as well as the patent rights and it is organized in systems by countries, sectors or institutions. The organization of the intellectual copyright in institutional systems is a priority in Cuba and it constitutes a guarantee for the society, because it allows to identify the creation from its conception, insertion in the corresponding modality and to decide if to publish, to protect or to maintain it in secret. A lot it is written on the intellectual copyright, but it is not easy to find a methodology serving as a guide for the systemic organization of this activity in the organizations. The purpose of the present work is to propose a methodological guide for its design.

OBJETIVO: Desenvolver um sistema de apoio à pesquisa no campo da informática, baseado na busca automática de informações sobre a porcentagem de pacientes com determinadas características e o cruzamento dessas informações entre si. MÉTODOS: Utilizou-se um computador com processador Pentium III 650 MHz, 128 MB de RAM, placa de vídeo de 32 MB, 20 MB livres em disco rígido e capacitado com Windows 98/2000/XP. O banco de dados utilizado para armazenar as informações é o Interbase versão 6.1 e o programa foi desenvolvido em linguagem Delphi 5.0. Foram cadastradas 304 fichas dos pacientes operados de esotropia no setor de Motilidade Ocular Extrínseca do Departamento de Oftalmologia da Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo, no período de 02/07/76 a 09/03/92. Para cadastrar os pacientes no programa, foi elaborado um questionário, com as possíveis variações clínicas relevantes para esse tipo de desvio. Foram apresentados exemplos de totalizações e cruzamentos de informações. RESULTADOS: Esse novo programa poderá contribuir para a pesquisa científica, agilizando o levantamento de dados. Após o cadastro dos pacientes, qualquer tipo de levantamento, seleção de um grupo específico de pacientes ou cruzamento de dados poderá ser obtido em segundos. CONCLUSÃO: Pode ser feito em todas as especialidades oftalmológicas, variando o questionário de acordo com cada especialidade. Assim um relatório atual poderá ser acessado instantaneamente quando se deseja fazer uma pesquisa ou consulta.


PURPOSE: To develop a system of support to the research in the field of the computer science, based on the automatic search of information, on the percentage of patients with certain characteristics and the crossing of this information among themselves. METHODS: A computer with Pentium III 650 MHz processor, 128 MB RAM, 32 MB video plate, free 20 MB in the hard disk and fitted with Windows 98/2000/XP. The data base used to store the information is Interbase version 6.1 and the program was developed in Delphi 5.0 language. Three hundred and four charts of esotropia-operated patients were registered in the Extrinsic Ocular Motility Sector of the Departament of Ophthalmology of the College of Medical Sciences of the Santa Casa of Misericórdia of São Paulo, in the period from 07/02/1976 to 03/09/1992. To include the patients in the program, a questionnaire was elaborated, with the relevant clinical variations of this type of misalignment. Examples of totalizations and crossings of information were presented. RESULTS: This new program will be able to contribute to scientific research, accelerating data collection. After registering the patients any type of survey, election of a specific group of patients or crossing of data may be obtained in seconds. CONCLUSION: This can be made for all ophthalmologic specialties, varying the questionnaire in accordance with each specialty.

RESUMO

Este trabalho procura, de forma didática, explicar os benefícios de uso de uma técnica de gerenciamento de projetos, chamada de Estrutura Analítica do Projeto - uma ferramenta gráfica para identificar os resultados principais a serem desenvolvidos por um projeto. Os exemplos são reais, aplicados a um sub-projeto da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde em Enfermagem (BVS-Enfermagem) para o desenvolvimento de Catálogo de Sites. Destacam-se os benefícios de visualização gráfica para um maior entendimento entre profissionais de diferentes áreas.


This work search of didactic form to explain the benefits of use of one technique of management project, called Work Breakdown Structure: a graphical tool to identify the main results to be developed for a project. The real examples are applied to a sub-project of the Virtual Library in Health in Nursing (BVSEnfermagem) to development of the Sites Catalogs. It is distinguished the benefits of graphical visualization for a major agreement between professionals of different expertise


Este artículo presenta, de una forma didáctica, algunas explicaciones sobre los beneficios de lo uso de la técnica de gestión de proyectos, llamada de Estructura Analítica del Proyecto una herramienta grafica para la identificación de los principales resultados que han de ser desarrollados en un proyecto. Los ejemplos son reales, aplicados a un subproyecto de la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud Enfermería (BVS-Enfermagem) para el desarrollo del catalogo de sitios. Son destacados los beneficios de visualización grafica para un mejor entendimiento entre profesionales de diferentes áreas.
