ABSTRACT The study aimed to analyze the productive narrative discourse of students who attended kindergarten in special language schools in Chile, considering the expressive and mixed Specific Language Impairment (SLI) with the periodicity of reading stories at home. Enriched natural environments into the family provide better opportunities to develop early literacy, linguistic and social skills. Children with SLI may show difficulties in narration, affecting academic, social performance, and generally affecting their quality of life. The narrative discourse in a sample of 150 preschoolers was evaluated using a formal instrument that included the retelling of three original stories. The performance of narrative development and reading stories by parents at home were examined. A form was applied to collect demographic information from families. Through a comparative-descriptive study, descriptive and inferential statistics (two-way ANOVA) were used to analyze the variables. The results show that type of SLI, frequency of reading and the interaction of both variables did not cause statistically significant effects in the narrative discourse. However, qualitative findings were observed, in the quantity of oral discourse related to storytelling.

RESUMO

Mixtecs and Zapotecs, originating from the Oaxaca area in Mexico, are among the largest indigenous groups of workers in California. Many adults in this community only access the health care system when sick and as a last resort. This article describes the development of a radionovela to inform the community about the importance of preventive health care. It was developed following the Sabido Method. The methodology to develop a radionovela may be of interest to other public health practitioners who want to develop educational materials in an engaging format, especially for communities that rely on oral, not written information.

RESUMO

This article has evolved from an exhibition produced with PROOF: Media for Social Justice entitled "My Body Is a War Zone," which was part of a larger project ("Legacy of Rape") consisting of stories from women in four postconflict regions. Drawing on interviews conducted with women in Santa Marta, Colombia, in May 2012 and January 2017, I explore the use of testimony, photography, and exhibition as a means of empowering survivors to become activists. Using the Colombian example, I argue that such exhibitions can transform national and public dialogue by engaging audiences on a personal and emotional level.

The article presents the summary of a PhD thesis project whose research subject refers to the influences that tales have on the psyche of the child, taking into account its therapeutic aspect linked to the psychic conflicts derived from the non-pathological processes of development and maturation. The objective of the study is to describe the evolution of childhood conflicts through five tales created by the author, representing conflicts: separation, fears, Oedipal complex, dependence-independence and aggressiveness, from the psychoanalytic theory standpoint. The article establishes correlations between psychoanalysis, fairy tales, and projective techniques. The articulation begins with Freud, passes through the conceptual framework proposed as a research base, through the therapeutic traits of the tales and ends introducing the childhood tales technique.(AU)

This work is the result of research that began with studies of specialization in children's literature "on the stories that count for children" at the University of São Paulo (USP), maybe because I myself be a storyteller. In this condition, as far as I can remember, I was always in the atmosphere I experienced, since childhood, when people gathered around the stories of counter. Convinced of the importance of telling and listening to stories from my own experience, I realised a deepening in the studies for a master's degree in Sciences of religions at PUC-SP, whose dissertation focussed on: "storytelling as a way for the sacred" that culminated in the defense of the doctoral thesis in Social Psychology from PUC-SP, where we work the identity of contemporary storytellers and the social and cultural impact of the importance of the tell and listen to stories in modern cities. The methodology employed was the tale of oral tradition. From this experience, in this text, we will draw up reports of our understanding and contribution of traditional tales to modern societies and their employment in education and related field(AU)
