RESUMO
This Decree sets forth the organization and functioning of Mexico's National Institute of Perinatology. The objectives of the Institute are the following: 1) to support the functioning and consolidation of the National Health System and to contribute to the fulfillment of the right to health protection with respect to perinatal care; 2) to support the execution of sectoral health programs within the scope of the System's functions and services; 3) to provide health services to women experiencing high risk pregnancies, in particular, services related to preventive and curative medicine and surgical procedures; 4) to provide medical consultation and hospital assistance, as well as services for human reproduction, growth, and development, in the installations created for this purpose; these services will either be free of charge or the charge will be based on the social and economic conditions of the users; 5) to provide measures of social assistance for those patients who lack economic resources; 6) to conduct studies and clinical research in the biomedical field and related sciences for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of perinatal diseases and in compliance with the provisions of the General Health Law and applicable regulations; 7) to provide technical and scientific information on health findings and improvements as well as to publish the outcome of studies and work undertaken; 8) to promote and hold meetings and carry out scientific national or international exchange programs with similar institutions; 9) to advise and deliver opinions to the Health Secretary when requested; 10) to function as an advisory committee for the relevant institutions of the Federal Public Administration and social and private institutions in this field; 11) to exploit specialized human resources for attention to perinatal problems in compliance with the applicable regulations; 12) to organize and implement educational and professional programs in the field of perinatal care for the professional, technical, and auxiliary staff; 13) to confer academic awards and give recognition to studies in compliance with applicable regulations; 14) to promote the execution of health protection activities according to the applicable regulations; 15) to provide all other services and necessary activities to fulfill the goals of this Decree and other applicable regulations. Further provisions of the Decree deal with the duties of the Governing Board and the Director General, among other things.

This Resolution sets forth the Regulations on the organization and functions of the Peruvian National Maternal-Child Institute, created by Supreme Decree No. 022-87-SA. The following are among the functions of the Institute: 1) to propose a policy of maternal-perinatal care; 2) to encourage and realize basic, clinical, and operative research, developing technologies appropriate to the national maternal-perinatal health situation; 3) to disseminate to all levels scientific results in the maternal-perinatal area; 4) to coordinate and develop specialized training programs in maternal-perinatal health directed at health personnel and the community; 5) to contribute to the improvement and training of all personnel participating in activities aimed at gynecological, obstetrical, and perinatal care; 6) to intensify the training of specialists required for the care of women and childbirth; 7) to facilitate the decentralization of maternal-child care in order to achieve specialized care; 8) to propose rules and procedures for maternal-perinatal care; 9) to advise the High Directorate of the Ministry of Health with respect to maternal-child care; 10) to coordinate, support, and evaluate activities carried out by public and other institutions directed at maternal-perinatal health care; and 11) to increase and improve the quality of institutional care services for women of child-bearing age, pregnant women, child-birth, and the recently born, with the priority of developing care of greater sophistication. This Despacho sets forth the organization and functioning of administrative departments in Venezuela's Ministry of the Family. Among the Directorates of the Ministry are the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to the Family, the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to Children, the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to Youth, the General Sectoral Directorate for the Promotion of Women, and the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to the Elderly. The following are the duties of the General Sectoral Directorate for the Promotion of Women: 1) to agree and coordinate with public and private organizations on the planning and execution of programs designed to achieve the participation of women in the socioeconomic development of the country; 2) to promote and develop plans and programs relating to the occupation and employment of women and the defense and improvement of their standard of living; 3) to formulate and promote plans and programs directed at obtaining information and social, legal, and economic assistance for women, which will support the process of their incorporation into the socioeconomic, cultural, and political spheres of the country; 4) to develop orientation and education programs relating to the legal and social rights of women; 5) to carry out studies and research relating to the position and condition of women within the national context and to promote the participation of the public and private sectors in these studies and research; 6) to direct, coordinate, and supervise the execution of programs designed to encourage the social protection of women within the institution of the family; 7) to coordinate, promote, and organize the implementation of programs designed to inform and orient women about social, cultural, and recreational activities; 8) to maintain relations with national and international organizations related to its area of competence; and 9) to carry out other duties set by laws, regulations, and resolutions.
