RESUMO
The objective of this work is to check the growth of quince cultivars grafted on Japonês rootstock. One year old plants of quince cultivars Smyrna, Portugal, Mendoza Inta-37, Provence (Cydonia oblonga) and Japonês (Chaenomeles sinensis) grafted on Japonês rootstock, were planted to field, in 4 x 3 m spacing in Marechal Cândido Rondon, west of Paraná State. We measured the trunk diameter at the grafting zone at four, eight and twelve months after planting. After one year of planting, the plants were removed from field and it was measured the higth of the graft sprouting above the graft, dry mass of roots, dry mass of shoots, and total dry mass. Japonês intergeneric rootstock is an excellent option for commercial cultivars of quince, and showed the highest growth.
Objetivou-se com esse trabalho verificar o desenvolvimento vegetativo de cultivares de marmeleiro enxertadas sobre o porta-enxerto Japonês. Mudas de um ano de idade dos marmeleiros Smyrna, Portugal, Mendoza Inta-37, Provence (Cydonia oblonga) e Japonês (Chaenomeles sinensis), enxertadas sobre o marmeleiro Japonês, foram plantadas a campo, em espaçamento 4 x 3 m, em Marechal Cândido Rondon, Oeste do Paraná. Foi mensurado o diâmetro na região da enxertia aos quatro, oito e doze meses após o plantio das mudas. Passado um ano do plantio, as mudas foram cuidadosamente retiradas do campo e foram mensurados a altura das plantas acima da enxertia, massa seca das raízes, massa seca da parte aérea e massa seca total das mudas. O Japonês, como porta-enxerto intergenérico, é uma excelente opção para os cultivares comerciais de marmeleiros; a cultivar copa Japonês apresentou maior desempenho vegetativo a campo.
