ABSTRACT Pantanos de Villa (RVSLPV) is the only coastal wetland located within the urban area of Lima that is recognized as a Ramsar site. Little is known about the diversity of macroinvertebrates that inhabit the area and what environmental factors influence them. The objective of this study was to determine the composition of the community of aquatic beetles and evaluate their relationships with the physicochemical variables of the water. For this, 12 sampling stations were established in six lagoons of Pantanos de Villa and there were evaluated in situ: dissolved oxygen (DO), electrical conductivity (EC), water temperature (T), hydrogen potential (pH), and turbidity (Turb). 1475 aquatic beetles grouped into three families and 13 species were identified, reporting two new records for Peru: Desmopachria challeti K. B. Miller (Dytiscidae) and Hydraena quechua Perkins (Hydraenidae). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Canonical Correspondence (CCA) show that the physicochemical variables with the greatest influence were CE, pH, and turbidity. In this sense, Hydrophilidae species were associated with a high tolerance to CE. On the contrary, related to values lower than the average of T, CE, Turb, OD, and with slightly high alkalinity, we found the species of Dytiscidae and Hydraenidae (except G. peruvianus); they would require other conditions, probably related to the size and depth of the lagoons, as well as the floristic diversity.

RESUMO
The Chilean water penny genus Tychepsephus Waterhouse, 1876 is revised, with descriptions and photographic illustrations of life stages including two larval morphotypes, the pupa of one morphotype, and adults of two species. The pupa of Tychepsephus has not been reported previously. Tychepsephuscekalovicisp. nov. is described, and Ectopria (Chilectopria) grandis Pic, 1947, syn. nov. is proposed as a new synonym of Tychepsephusfelix Waterhouse, 1876, which is redescribed. Taxonomic treatment of the adults of both species includes images of the habitus of males and females, morphological variation, and male and female genitalia. Males and females are sexually dimorphic. Information on the habitat of Tychepsephus is provided and illustrated with photographs, and the known geographic distribution of the two species is mapped. The occurrence of Tychepsephus in Argentina is reported; therefore, the genus no longer can be considered endemic to Chile. The taxonomic status and geographic distribution in South America of other species of Psephenidae, particularly members of the subfamily Eubriinae, is reviewed.
RESUMO
The New World species of the minute aquatic beetle genus Notomicrus Sharp compose a much greater diversity than their Old World congeners, with 14 of the 17 known Notomicrus species occurring in the Neotropics. A recent phylogenetic study recovered four primary New World species groups and found that there are a number of undescribed species across all of these main lineages. Here, we provide a taxonomic key to these New World species groups, including two described species that we currently do not place in any group ("incertae sedis" species), complete with images and illustrations of diagnostic characters and taxonomic notes including a list of known species in each group. This work provides a scaffold for further planned taxonomic revisions within the genus. In addition, we review the first of the four New World groups, the josiahi species group and describe one new taxon, N. interstinctus sp. nov. from northern Brazil. Provided are descriptions, habitus images and illustrations of diagnostic characters.
RESUMO

The water scavenger beetle genus Chasmogenus Sharp, 1882 is reviewed in northeastern South America using an integrative approach that combines adult morphology and molecular data from the gene cytochrome c oxidase I (COI). Eighteen new species are described: Chasmogenus acuminatus sp. nov. (Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname), C. amplius sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. berbicensis sp. nov. (Guyana), C. brownsbergensis sp. nov. (Suriname), C. castaneus sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. clavijoi sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. cuspifer sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. flavomarginatus sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. gato sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. guianensis sp. nov. (Suriname, Guyana), C. ignotus sp. nov. (Brazil), C. ligulatus sp. nov. (Suriname), C. lineatus sp. nov. (Venezuela), C. pandus sp. nov. (Brazil, French Guiana, Suriname), C. schmits sp. nov. (Suriname), C. sinnamarensis sp. nov. (French Guiana), C. tafelbergensis sp. nov. (Suriname), and C. undulatus sp. nov. (Guyana). We found genetic support for an additional new species in Guyana which is currently only known from females that we refer to as Chasmogenus sp. C. We examined the holotypes of the four species previously known from the region, and found that C. occidentalis García syn. nov. and C. yukparum García syn. nov. are conspecific with C. bariorum García, 2000 and are synonymized with that species, which is here redescribed. We redescribe C. australis García and expand the range of this species to include northern Brazil, Guyana, and French Guiana. All species are aquatic, with most being associated with forested streams and forest pools. Of the 21 species, more than half (11) are only known from a single locality indicating the genus may have many more micro-endemic species yet to be discovered in the region. Characters of the male genitalia are essential for confirming the identity of some species, consequently it is not always possible to make positive identifications of unassociated female specimens based on morphology alone. Habitus images are provided as well as a revised key to the genus for northeastern South America.
RESUMO
The primary and secondary chaetotaxy of the head capsule and head appendages of the three larval instars of the water scavenger beetle genus Derallus Sharp are described for the first time based on two species: D. angustus Sharp and D. paranensis Oliva. Morphometric characters derived from the head capsule and mouthparts are included, together with detailed illustrations of all characters. Chaetotaxy of these larvae is compared with that of Regimbartia attenuata (Fabricius), another species belonging to the Derallus-clade of Berosini.

RESUMO
Elmidae is one of the most diverse families of aquatic beetles, with more than 1500 species in 148 genera. Cylloepus is the genus with the most species in Americas, with 52 species and 2 subspecies currently known. The genus is easily recognised by external morphology; body elongate, pronotum with a longitudinal impression on the disc and elytra striate and punctate. In this paper, based on the study of several international reference collections, we propose two new combinations, and describe two new species of Cylloepus (C. bispoi sp. nov. and C. segurae sp. nov.) from Ecuador and Bolivia.

New World species assigned to the Helochares subgenus Hydrobaticus MacLeay are reviewed based on adult morphology and DNA sequence data. Nine species are recognized, including five here described as new: Helochares (Hydrobaticus) laevis n. sp. (Mexico), H. (Hydrobaticus) nexus n. sp. (Ecuador, Panama, Venezuela), H. (Hydrobaticus) politus n. sp. (Guatemala), H. (Hydrobaticus) trujillo n. sp. (Venezuela), and H. (Hydrobaticus) zamora n. sp. (Ecuador). New records are provided for the three previously described species: Helochares (Hydrobaticus) championi Sharp, 1882 (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua), H. (Hydrobaticus) maculicollis Mulsant, 1844 (United States), and H. (Hydrobaticus) normatus (LeConte, 1861) (United States to Costa Rica). A ninth species, known only from five poorly preserved female specimens from Peru, is left undescribed until additional material can be found. Most species are known to exhibit some parental care, with the egg case being attached to the abdomen of and carried by the female. Intraspecific genetic distances within several species are very high, in some cases more than 8% in the mitochondrial gene COI, suggesting there may be additional cryptic species remaining to be identified. All taxa are illustrated and a key to species is provided.

The aim of this paper was to know the composition and structure of water beetles community in different streams along a wide altitudinal gradient (476-4411 m altitude) in Cusco, Peru. For that, 12 sampling stations were established and two collects were carried out during May and July-August 2013 (dry season), in the running water and stony substrate. A total of 3069 individuals were collected between larvae and adults of aquatic beetles, belonging to 23 genera, grouped into 10 families. Elmidae presented the highest richness (13 genera) and abundance (90.4%), being distributed along the whole gradient. The most representative genera by abundance were: Austrelmis, Neoelmis, Heterelmis and Anchytarsus. The Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney and Kruskall-Wallis non-parametric statistical tests for richness, abundance and community structure, clustering analysis (CLUSTER) and similarity analysis (ANOSIM) showed significant differences in the composition of the beetles community along the gradient studied. The percentage similarity analysis (SIMPER) allowed to identify the genera that most influenced the community structure, stand out Neoelmis and Heterelmis in stations located at low and medium altitude, and Austrelmis in stations of higher altitude. A positive correlation of temperature with the richness, diversity and equity, and a negative correlation with these variables altitude was evident.
