RESUMO

PIP: This document contains provisions of the 1988 Regulations of Cuba's Public Health Law relating to primary health care, maternal-child health care, sex education, contraceptives, and health care of the elderly. The regulations guarantee maternal-child care in a program which will be revised and updated periodically. All pregnant women will receive medical assistance, and pregnant women at risk will receive specialized care. Institutionalized deliveries are also guaranteed. Attention will be paid to early diagnosis and proper treatment of uterine and breast cancer and to reproductive health care. Children will receive preventive and curative medical assistance. Health education activities will be directed toward the prevention of adolescent pregnancy. Assistance to the elderly will take the form of rehabilitation services, hospital care, housing, domiciliary assistance, and social organizations.^ieng

RESUMO

This Decree sets forth the Health Code of El Salvador. Among other things, it describes health activities with respect to maternal-child health. It provides that it is the "ineluctable obligation of the State to promote, protect, and restore the health of the mother and child by all means at its disposal." To this end, health organizations are "to give preventative and curative attention to the mother during pregnancy and delivery and after birth and the same to children from conception to the end of schooling." The State is also to promote the creation, maintenance, and development of organizations whose goal is the protection of the mother and child. The Decree lists, among health infractions, the failure to have a blood test for syphilis performed on every pregnant woman. The Decree also provides that the Ministry of Health, in conformity with its resources and regulations, is to give assistance to the elderly and to indigent disabled persons.

RESUMO

This Despacho sets forth the organization and functioning of administrative departments in Venezuela's Ministry of the Family. Among the Directorates of the Ministry are the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to the Family, the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to Children, the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to Youth, the General Sectoral Directorate for the Promotion of Women, and the General Sectoral Directorate for Attention to the Elderly. The following are the duties of the General Sectoral Directorate for the Promotion of Women: 1) to agree and coordinate with public and private organizations on the planning and execution of programs designed to achieve the participation of women in the socioeconomic development of the country; 2) to promote and develop plans and programs relating to the occupation and employment of women and the defense and improvement of their standard of living; 3) to formulate and promote plans and programs directed at obtaining information and social, legal, and economic assistance for women, which will support the process of their incorporation into the socioeconomic, cultural, and political spheres of the country; 4) to develop orientation and education programs relating to the legal and social rights of women; 5) to carry out studies and research relating to the position and condition of women within the national context and to promote the participation of the public and private sectors in these studies and research; 6) to direct, coordinate, and supervise the execution of programs designed to encourage the social protection of women within the institution of the family; 7) to coordinate, promote, and organize the implementation of programs designed to inform and orient women about social, cultural, and recreational activities; 8) to maintain relations with national and international organizations related to its area of competence; and 9) to carry out other duties set by laws, regulations, and resolutions.

RESUMO

This Decree requires all persons or organizations interested in carrying out activities with respect to the promotion of health or prevention of illness in persons aged 60 and older to obtain authorization from the Costa Rica Ministry of Health. Authorizations are valid for five years. General and particular rules for the functioning of activities are to be issued by the Department for the Elderly in coordination with the Accreditation Commission of Health Establishments. The Decree calls for the Department for the Elderly to make periodic inspections of institutions and requires the Department to approve any publicity on activities. Authorization can be withdrawn from persons and organizations that violate the provisions of this Decree or other health laws and regulations.

RESUMO

This Costa Rica Decree creates a National Council for the Elderly, composed of representatives of various government and nongovernment agencies, to act as an advisory and coordinating body of the Executive with respect to the definition and execution of an integral national policy for the elderly. The functions of the Council are the following: 1) to formulate and propose to the ministers and President specific policies, strategies, and programs for the elderly; 2) to coordinate the work of institutions that carry out related functions; 3) to promote training, rehabilitation, and any other kind of program possible for respective institutions; 4) to analyze periodically the evaluation of activities executed by public and private institutions; 5) to request from organizations dedicated to giving attention to the elderly information required to achieve the Council's objectives; and 6) to request technical and financial support from state institutions with respect to anything related to programs for the elderly.
