RESUMO
A brief review of the prevalence of chromoblastomycosis in Latin America and specially, in our country is made. Seventy two patients who were clinically and epidemiologically diagnosed in the Havana province between 1963-1973 are studied, and epidemic variables of interest are analyzed. Hormodendrum pedrosoi was the prevalent pathogen. The creation of a national register for a better knowledge of the prevalence of this disease in our country is proposed. The training of mycologic dermatologist and their location in places in lack of this kind of specialist are suggested. The early diagnosis and treatment are emphasized.
