RESUMO

Endometritis is an inflammatory process trigged by factor such as use of progestin contraceptives, prolonged progesterone activity, accumulation of uterine gland secretions, bacteria infection of nearby organsand other structures, which may result uterine alterations of high risk to reproduction and the animal’s life. Thematerial came from a ovariosalpingohisterectomy of a Canis familiares (Linnaeus, 1857), female dog, threeyears old, mixed breed, nulliparous, which was referred to the laboratory that, after macroscopic analysis, standard histopathological procedure and microscopic analysis, it was observed endometrial atrophy, calcification, fibrosis, lymphocytic infiltration and cartilaginous metaplasia, resulting from the chronicinflammatory process.

RESUMO

Leiomyosarcomas are rare malignant neoplasias originated from smooth muscle and may affectprimarily female reproductive organs. The aim of this work is to report a case of uterine leiomyosarcoma in thebitch. A female dog, mixed breed, 6 years old showed history of use of contraceptive and it underwent to aelective ovariosalpingohysterectomy. Multiple uterine masses were observed grossly and the histopathologyconfirmed a uterine leiomyosarcoma associated with cystic endometrial hyperplasia and ovarian cysts.

RESUMO

Polyorchidism is a rare congenital anomaly defined as the presence of more than two histologicallyproven testicles. In this context, the objective of this study is to report the occurrence of two intra-abdominalsupernumerary testis in a rabbit. A rabbit was referred to the ISPA/UFRA for elective orchiectomy. On physicalexamination, it was detected the presence of testicles in the scrotum. In the necropsy record was describedpresence of bilateral structure similar to testis and epididymis which microscopically showed normalmorphology. This case report describes for the first time polyorchidism in a rabbit with two intra-abdominaltestis and two testicles located in the scrotum proven through histological analysis.
