The incidence of leprosy was 1.77 per cent but the proportion of serious lepromatous cases was low only 9 per cent. This fugure is low compared with figures of 20 per cent, 30 per cent and 40per cent reported in some parts of India

The results of (276) lepromin tests in the Silver Jubilee Children´s Clinic are analysed and the figures from the Lady Willingdon Leprosy Sanatorium are given for the sake of comparison The following tentative conclusions and questions suggest themselves (a) In healthy persons the older age group tends to show a higher percentage of positives. How far this is due to small sub-minimal infection with M. leprae it is impossible to say owing to the paucity of the numbers, and to the absence of information from nonendemic areas. Is this one of the reasons why adults are less susceptible to leprosy than children? (b) In children the positive reactors appear to decrese as the closeness of contact increases
