RESUMO
PIP: The research covers 5 years (1965-1970). All attempts at abortion are considered, irrespective of whether they were successful. It appears that the percentage of induced abortions is extremely high, ranging between 77% and 87%, although the figures may vary depending on the personnel that conducted the survey (data from a survey by medical personnel showed 67.2% of 665 patients). Mortality due to abortion increased from 26% in 1965 to 54% of total maternal mortality in 1969, while total maternal mortality rose from .24% to .33%. An educational program is required to prevent abortion.^ieng
