Abstract OBJECTIVE: To determine the frequency of sexual dysfunction in patients diagnosed with intraepithelial lesion treated with cervical cone. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A longitudinal, observational, descriptive, and prospective study included women with an active sexual life diagnosed by biopsy of high-grade cervical intraepithelial lesion who underwent the cone technique with an electrosurgical loop and a questionnaire to assess sexual function before and 12 weeks after the procedure. The Female Sexual Function Index with a cut-off of 26.5 points or less was used to determine whether the patient had sexual dysfunction. RESULTS: Thirty-one patients were examined with a mean age of 44 years SD ± 9 with cut-offs of 29 and 58 years. Ten patients were smokers, and the same number were menopausal. Two with hypertension and three with diabetes. A statistically significant p = 0.046 higher frequency of sexual dysfunction was observed after the intervention. The desire factor was lower before the intervention p = 0.023. Desire and arousal were lower after the intervention, but there was no statistically significant difference p = 0.077. There was no trend between the remaining factors. CONCLUSIONS: Cervical cone with electrosurgical loop, as a treatment option for patients with cervical high-grade intraepithelial lesion, is associated with a higher percentage of sexual dysfunction three months after the procedure. The domains of sexual function most affected were desire and arousal.
