Neotropiella Handschin, 1942 is a pantropical genus of Pseudachorutinae with 18 species, 16 of which are from the Neotropical Region and 13 from Brazil. The genus has several species with unclear descriptions. Herein, we describe a new species of Neotropiella, survey the genus based on published papers and discuss its morphology, providing an updated genus diagnosis plus a detailed comparison table and a key to all known species. Neotropiella arretada sp. nov. is unique in the combination of a postantennal organ with 14-20 vesicles, its mandible with five teeth, its maxilla apically pointed and its unguis with a pair of reduced teeth. Widely distributed taxa may be species complexes, especially due to their unclear descriptions.

Though Collembola is a widespread hexapod its use of chemical compounds for defense has been reported for only a few European species. Chemical composition analyses of the hemolymphatic secretion of Neotropical Collembola using Gas Chromatography with Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) has been performed for the first time. The GC-MS analysis revealed 32 constituents, such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, esters, alcohols, a phenol, an aldehyde and a ketone. Benzyl benzoate, the main component (at 46.98%), is a compound with known acaricide and insecticide properties. This is the first report on chemical constituents produced by Neotropical Pseudachorutinae, genus Brasilimeria, and will permit future secretion comparisons for Collembola. The taxonomic description of the species producing the secretion analyzed is provided; Brasilimeria assu sp. nov. (Collembola, Neanuridae, Pseudachorutinae) is the third known species of the genus; an updated diagnosis of the genus, an identification key, and further remarks on the species Brasilimeria Stach, 1949 are provided.

A new genus and a new species of Paleonurini (Collembola, Neanurinae) are described in this paper. The new species Ectonura snowdeni sp. nov., is the first record of the austral genus Ectonura for the Neotropics. A new genus from Southeast Brazil, Itanura gen. nov., is created based mainly on head tubercles arrangement. Its type species is Neanura brasiliensis Arlé, 1959 comb. nov., which is redescribed with the designation of a lectotype. Its distribution range is expanded with two new records from high altitude mountains of Southeast Brazil. Specimens from these two localities exhibit small morphological differences with those of the type locality, which are discussed.

Three new species of Brachystomellidae from high altitude fields of southeast Brazil are described and illustrated and additions made to the description of Micronella porcus (Denis, 1933). The new species are Neorganella rotundatae sp. n., the second for the genus, Micronella itacaman sp. n. and Micronella longisensilla sp. n. Diagnosis of the genera have been extended. An identification key to the genus Micronella Arlé, 1959 is provided.
