Two cases of candidal cystitis associated with pregnancy have been described. As far as can be ascertained no similar cases have been reported. The clinical features, predisposing factors, route of infection and treatment of candidal cystitis have been discussed. The literature on urinary candidiasis has been reviewed (Summary)

A case of true hermaphroditism and its treatment are described. Although in this case the genetic sex and hormonal sex were female, the psychic sex was strongly male, and evidence is put forward to suggest that extrauterine environmental factors were responsible for this. (Summary)

Fifty cases of circumvallate placenta occuring in 2,019 pregnancies are discussed. The condition is believed to result from separation of the edge of the placenta early in pregnancy with subsequent curling up of the placental margin, In the antenatal period the condition may cause bleeding which is indistinguishable from that due to placenta praevia. Data on 73 consecutive cases of carcinoma of the cervix uteri observed in the University College Hospital are presented and the morbid anatomical and clinical features and the treatment are analysed. Amongst our patients this disease occurs 10 to 15 years earlier than in Britain and the United States of America. It is suggested that this is the result of earlier sexual activity and childbearing. The Bonney-Wertheim operation has been performed 20 times in this series with one post-operative death. There have been three recurrences over the first 2.5 years of follow-up. Additional particulars, taken from the records of other hospitals and the Registrar General, are also given for the purpose of comparison and orientation regarding some demographic data. (AU)

A series of 8 urethral diverticula diagnosed at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University College of the West Indies in just over one year is described. A review of the literature is presented. Emphasis is made on the frequency with which this condition is overlooked in clinical practice. Investigation shows that most British medical schools do not include any mention of urethral diverticulum in their teaching programmes. Evidence is presented to show that urethral diverticulum is usually of congenital origin (AU)

A case of post eclamptic anuria complicated by duodenal obstruction due to haemorrhage into a duodenal cyst is described. The difficulties encountered in the management of the case are discussed. A review of the literature on duodenal cysts is given.(AU)
