Abstract Introduction: In Mexico, cardiac rehabilitation (CR) as an interdisciplinary intervention with therapeutic impact in patients with heart disease is growing. There is the need to know actual conditions of CR in our country. Objectives: The objective of this National Registry is to follow-up those existing and new CR units in Mexico through the comparison between the two previous registries, RENAPREC-2009 and RENAPREC II-2015 studies. This is a descriptive study focused on diverse CR activities such as assistance training, and certification of health professionals, barriers, reference, population attended, interdisciplinarity, permanence over time, growth prospects, regulations, post-pandemic condition, integrative characteristics, and scientific research. Results: Data were collected from 45 CR centers in the 32 states, 75.5% are private practice units, 67% are new, 33% were part of RENAPREC II-2015, and 17 have continued since 2009. With a better distribution of CR units along the territory, the median reference of candidates for CR programs is 9% with a significant reduction into tiempo of enrollment to Phase II admission (19 ± 11 days). Regarding to previous registries, the coverance of Phases I, II, and III is 71%, 100%, and 93%, respectively; and a coverance increases in evaluation, risk stratification, and prescription, more comprehensive attendance and prevention strategies. Conclusions: CR in Mexico has grown in the past 7 years. Even there is still low reference and heterogeneity in specific processes, there are strengths such as interdisciplinarity, scientific professionalization of specialists, national diversification, and an official society that are consolidated over time.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a degenerative condition resulting from the loss of dopaminergic neurons. This neuronal loss leads to motor and non-motor neurological symptoms. Most PD cases are idiopathic, and no cure is available. Recently, it has been proposed that insulin resistance (IR) could be a central factor in PD development. IR has been associated with PD neuropathological features like α-synuclein aggregation, dopaminergic neuronal loss, neuroinflammation, mitochondrial dysfunction, and autophagy. These features are related to impaired neurological metabolism, neuronal death, and the aggravation of PD symptoms. Moreover, pharmacological options that involve insulin signaling improvement and dopaminergic and non-dopaminergic strategies have been under development. These drugs could prevent the metabolic pathways involved in neuronal damage. All these approaches could improve PD outcomes. Also, new biomarker identification may allow for an earlier PD diagnosis in high-risk individuals. This review describes the main pathways implicated in PD development involving IR. Also, it presents several therapeutic options that are directed at insulin signaling improvement and could be used in PD treatment. The understanding of IR molecular mechanisms involved in neurodegenerative development could enhance PD therapeutic options and diagnosis.

Introducción: En México, la Rehabilitación Cardíaca (RC) como intervención interdisciplinaria con impacto terapéutico en paciente con cardiopatía está en crecimiento. Existe la necesidad de conocer las condiciones actuales de la RC en nuestro país. Objetivo: El objetivo de este Registro es dar seguimiento comparativo de las unidades nuevas y existentes entre los registros anteriores, RENAPREC-2009 y RENAPREC II-2015. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo centrado en diversas actividades de la RC: formación asistencial y certificación de sus profesionales, barreras, referencia, población atendida, interdisciplinariedad, permanencia en el tiempo, perspectivas de crecimiento, normativa, condición pospandemia, características integradoras e investigación. Resultados: Se recolectaron datos de 45 centros en los 32 estados, 67% son nuevos 75.5% son de práctica privada, 33% fueron parte de RENAPREC II-2015 y 17 desde 2009. Con una mejor distribución de las unidades de RC a lo largo del territorio, la mediana de referencia de pacientes candidatos a RC es ahora del 9% con reducción significativa del tiempo de admisión a Fase II (19 ± 11 días). Respecto a registros anteriores las coberturas de las Fases I, II y III son del 71%, 100% y 93%, respectivamente; con un aumento de la cobertura en evaluación, estratificación de riesgo y prescripción, atención más integral y estrategias de prevención. Conclusiones: La RC en México ha crecido en los últimos 7 años. Si bien aún existe baja referencia y heterogeneidad en procesos específicos, existen fortalezas como la interdisciplinariedad, la profesionalización científica de los especialistas, la diversificación nacional y una sociedad oficial que se consolida en el tiempo.

El Comité de Infecciones en Inmunocomprometidos de la Sociedad Chilena de Infectología presenta aquí una actualización en el Manejo de episodios de neutropenia febril en adultos y niños con cáncer, derivado de los grandes cambios ocurridos en los últimos años en el enfrentamiento de estos pacientes. Para estos efectos, un grupo multidisciplinario desarrolló recomendaciones en relación a: su enfrentamiento inicial, exámenes de laboratorio requeridos, el tratamiento antimicrobiano inicial empírico y frente a focos infecciosos conocidos, las infecciones fúngicas invasoras y profilaxis antimicrobiana.


The Committee of Infections in Immunocompromised Patients of the Chilean Society of Infectious Diseases presents an update in the Management of febrile neutropenia in adults and children with cancer. It comes from the significant changes that occurred in recent years in the confrontation of these patients. For which a multidisciplinary task force group developed recommendations in relation to their initial handling, laboratory exams required, the initial empirical antimicrobial treatment and in front of known infectious focus, invasive fungal infections and antimicrobial prophylaxis.

RESUMEN La hernia diafragmática traumática se define como el paso del contenido abdominal a la cavidad torácica a través de un defecto en el diafragma producido por un trauma. Su diagnóstico es difícil, a menudo puede pasar inadvertido, debido a la gravedad de las lesiones que le acompañan. Las claves para el diagnóstico son un alto grado de sospecha y el conocimiento de los distintos signos en la tomografía computarizada. Una vez diagnosticada la ruptura diafragmática, se repara quirúrgicamente para evitar complicaciones. Se presenta el caso de un paciente masculino, de 88 años de edad con antecedentes de haber sufrido trauma toracoabdominal cerrado hacía 35 años, que acudió con un cuadro clínico de oclusión intestinal. Se publica este caso porque, además de ser una entidad poco frecuente, resulta importante el conocimiento de esta enfermedad, para valorarla dentro de las posibilidades diagnósticas en aquellos pacientes que aquejen síntomas relacionados con sus complicaciones.


ABSTRACT Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia is defined as the passage of abdominal contents into the thoracic cavity through a defect in the diaphragm caused by trauma. The diagnosis of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia is difficult, it can often go unnoticed, due to the seriousness of the accompanying injuries. The keys to diagnosis are a high degree of suspicion and knowledge of the various signs on computed tomography. Once the diaphragmatic rupture is diagnosed, it is surgically repaired in order to avoid complications. The case of an 88-year-old male patient with a history of having suffered closed thoracoabdominal trauma 35 years earlier, who presented with a clinical picture of intestinal obstruction is presented. This case is published because, in addition to being a rare entity, knowledge of this disease is important, in order to assess it within the diagnostic possibilities, in those patients who suffer from symptoms related to its complications

Erythrostemon yucatanensis (Greenm.) Gagnon & GP Lewis is a legume tree native to and widely distributed in southeast Mexico, where its branches are used in traditional medicine. An in vitro evaluation of the antiviral activity of extracts and fractions from the leaves, stem bark and roots against two strains of the AH1N1 influenza virus was performed, leading to the identification of bioactive compounds in this medicinal plant. In a cytopathic effect reduction assay, the fractions from the leaves and stem bark were the active elements at the co-treatment level. These were further fractionated based on their hemagglutination inhibition activity. The analysis of spectroscopy data identified a combination of phytosterols (ß-sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol) in the stem bark active fraction as the main anti-hemagglutinin binding components, while 5-hydroxy-2(2-hydroxy-3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-7-metoxi-4H(chromen-4-ona), which was isolated from the leaf extracts, showed a weak inhibition of viral hemagglutinin. Time of addition experiments demonstrated that the mixture of sterols had a direct effect on viral particle infectivity at the co-treatment level (IC50 = 3.125 µg/mL). This effect was also observed in the virus plaque formation inhibition assay, where the mixture showed 90% inhibition in the first 20 min of co-treatment at the same concentration. Additionally, it was found using qRT-PCR that the NP copy number was reduced by 92.85% after 60 min of co-treatment. These results are the first report of components with anti-hemagglutinin binding activity in the genus Erythrostemon sp.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly influenced the routine of healthcare workers. This study investigated the impact of the pandemic on dental practice and dentists' feelings in Latin America. METHODS: A survey was conducted with dentists from 11 Spanish-speaking Latin American countries in September-December 2020. Professionals were invited by email and via an open campaign promoted on social media. The questions investigated dental care routines, practice changes, and feelings about the pandemic. Descriptive statistics were used to identify frequencies and distributions of variables. Proportions were compared using chi-square tests. RESULTS: A total of 2127 responses were collected from a sample with diverse demographic, sex, work, and education characteristics. The impact of COVID-19 was considered high/very high by 60% of respondents. The volume of patients assisted weekly was lower compared with the pre-pandemic period (mean reduction = 14 ± 15 patients). A high rate of fear to contracting the COVID-19 at work was observed (85%); 4.9% of participants had a positive COVID-19 test. The main professional challenges faced by respondents were reduction in the number of patients or financial gain (35%), fear of contracting COVID-19 (34%), and burden with or difficulty in purchasing new personal protective equipment (22%). The fear to contracting COVID-19 was influenced by the number of weekly appointments. A positive test by the dentists was associated with their reports of having assisted COVID-19 patients. The most cited feelings about the pandemic were uncertainty, fear, worry, anxiety, and stress. Negative feelings were more prevalent for professionals who did not receive training for COVID-19 preventive measures and those reporting higher levels of fear to contract the disease. CONCLUSION: This multi-country survey indicated a high impact of the pandemic on dental care routines in Latin America. A massive prevalence of bad feelings was associated with the pandemic.

INTRODUCTION: Multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) allows simultaneous detection of respiratory viruses, raising questions about their relevance in the clinical feature. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the contribution of clinical, epidemiological, and virological factors in the clinical course of children hospitalized due to ARI with viral co-detection. PATIENTS AND METHOD: Pediatric patients ≤ 15 years old, hospitalized due to ARI at the UC-CHRISTUS Health Network Clinical Hospital between June and October 2014, and who presented a positive respiratory molecular panel test, were included. Respiratory samples (nasopharyngeal swab, tracheal aspiration, or bronchoalveolar lavage) with positive panel tests by Seeplex® RV15 OneStep ACE Detection Seegene® technique, were analyzed with a second technique (xTAG-RVP-FASTv2 Luminex®, USA), which allows simultaneous and semi-quantitative detection of 17 respiratory viruses. Clinical and epidemiological records were collected. RESULTS: One virus was identified in 42/57 children (74%) and two or more in 15/57 (26%). Intensive care unit (ICU) hospi talization was significantly more frequent in patients with viral co-detection (OR = 5,5; IC 95%: 1,5 19,6). The most frequently detected viruses were rhinovirus/enterovirus (HRV/EV) (29%) and res piratory syncytial virus (RSV) (25%), and the most common co-detection was HRV/EV-RSV (33%). In x-rays, patients with HRV/EV infection presented interstitial images more frequently, while RSV was associated with condensations (p = 0.002). For HRV/EV, median fluorescence intensity (MFI, semi-quantification) were 1788 and 2456 in co-detection and single agent, respectively (p = 0.022). Children with HRV/EV co-detection had a longer hospital stay compared to isolated identification (5 versus 3 days, p = 0,028). CONCLUSION: In children hospitalized due to ARI, viral co-detection is frequent and associated with more ICU hospitalizations. Our study highlights the presence of HRV/ EV in viral co-detection and longer length of stay. More studies are needed to define the relevance of viral co-detection in hospitalized pediatric patients.

Meropenem pharmacokinetics in neonates exhibits large interindividual variability due to developmental changes occurring during the first month of life. The objective was to characterize meropenem pharmacokinetics through a population approach to determine effective dosing recommendations in neonates with severe nosocomial infections. Three blood samples from forty neonates were obtained once steady-state blood levels were achieved and plasma concentrations were determined with a validated chromatographic method. Data were used to develop and validate the one-compartment with first-order elimination population pharmacokinetic model obtained by non-linear mixed effect modeling. The final model was Clearance (L/h) = 2.23 × Creatinine Clearance (L/h) and Volume of distribution(L) = 6.06 × Body Surface Area(m2) × (1 + 0.60 if Fluticasone comedication). Doses should be adjusted based on said covariates to increase the likelihood of achieving therapeutic targets. This model explains 12.9% of the interindividual variability for meropenem clearance and 19.1% for volume of distribution. Stochastic simulations to establish initial dosing regimens to maximize the time above the MIC showed that the mean probabilities to achieve the PK/PD target (PTA) for microorganisms with a MIC of 2 and 8 µg/mL were 0.8 and 0.7 following i.v. bolus of 250 and 500 mg/m2/dose q8h, respectively. Meropenem extended 4h infusion would improve PTA in neonates with augmented creatinine clearance.

In addition to genetic and epigenetic inheritance, somatic variation may contribute to cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. CVD-associated somatic mutations have been reported in human clonal hematopoiesis, but evidence in the atheroma is lacking. To probe for somatic variation in atherosclerosis, we sought single-nucleotide private variants (PVs) in whole-exome sequencing (WES) data of aorta, liver, and skeletal muscle of two C57BL/6J coisogenic male ApoE null/wild-type (WT) sibling pairs, and RNA-seq data of one of the two pairs. Relative to the C57BL/6 reference genome, we identified 9 and 11 ApoE null aorta- and liver-specific PVs that were shared by all WES and RNA-seq datasets. Corresponding PVs in WT sibling aorta and liver were 1 and 0, respectively, and not overlapping with ApoE null PVs. Pyrosequencing analysis of 4 representative PVs in 17 ApoE null aortas and livers confirmed tissue-specific shifts toward the alternative allele, in addition to significant deviations from mendelian allele ratios. Notably, all aorta and liver PVs were present in the dbSNP database and were predominantly transition mutations within atherosclerosis-related genes. The majority of PVs were in discrete clusters approximately 3 Mb and 65 to 73 Mb away from hypermutable immunoglobin loci in chromosome 6. These features were largely shared with previously reported CVD-associated somatic mutations in human clonal hematopoiesis. The observation that SNPs exhibit tissue-specific somatic DNA mosaicism in ApoE null mice is potentially relevant for genetic association study design. The proximity of PVs to hypermutable loci suggests testable mechanistic hypotheses.

AQP7 is the primary glycerol transporter in white (WAT) and brown (BAT) adipose tissues. There are immediate and quantitatively important actions of cortisone over the expression of AQP7 in murine and human adipocytes. Short-term response (minutes) of cortisone treatment result in an mRNA overexpression in white and brown differentiated adipocytes (between 1.5 and 6 folds). Conversely, long-term response (hours or days) result in decreased mRNA expression. The effects observed on AQP7 mRNA expression upon cortisone treatment in brown and white differentiated adipocytes are concordant with those observed for GK and HSD1B11.

The use of biological therapies has meant a great improvement in the management of several conditions like autoimmune, neoplastic or others diseases. Although its use has implied significant improvements in the prognosis of these diseases, it is not exempt from complications: infectious diseases as one of them. The objective of this consensus was to evaluate, from an infectious viewpoint, the safeness of the most frequently used biological therapies and give recommendations for the prevention of infections in patients treated with these drugs. These recommendations were based on the highest quality evidence available for the selected biologics. The consensus counts of two manuscripts. This first part details the risks of developing infectious complications depending on the type of biological used for a certain pathology. This evaluation included a broad search in MEDLINE and Epistemonikos of systematic reviews and meta-analyzes of controlled clinical trials and casecontrol examining post-treatment infections with anti-TNF alpha, anti-CD20, anti-CD52, CTLA4-Ig and anti-integrins. The research was complemented by a review of: multicentre cohorts of biological users, the MMWR of the CDC, Atlanta, U.S.A., and national registers and scientific societies in which infectious complications derived from the use of biological therapies were mentioned.

This second part is a guideline that details these recommendations through screening strategies, prophylactic therapies and vaccines indications for bacterial, mycobacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic infections, both for adults and children.

With the idea of proposing solid state systems that have a high storage capacity of molecular hydrogen, a density functional theory study of magnesium oxide (MgO)n clusters (n = 1-10) was carried out. Hydrogen-magnesium oxide systems presented adsorption energy values in accordance with the previously reported studies of physisorption processes; additionally negative values of ΔGads were found describing adsorption as a favorable process. Here, the (MgO)7 cluster presented the highest adsorption energy. The storage capacity by weight of the magnesium oxide clusters was greater than the recommended percentage (7.5%) by the U.S. Department of Energy. QTAIM analysis and non-covalent index plots highlighted the weak nature of the interaction between the MgO clusters and hydrogen molecules, and the fundamental role of the Mg-O bonds' polarity in the systems' storage capacity.

Resumen La incorporación de terapias biológicas ha significado un gran avance en el manejo de diversas patologías de origen autoinmune, neoplásico u otros. Si bien su uso ha implicado mejoras significativas en el pronóstico de estas enfermedades, no está exento de complicaciones, entre estas, las infecciosas. El objetivo de este consenso fue evaluar el perfil de seguridad, desde la mirada infectológica, de las terapias biológicas de uso más frecuente y dar recomendaciones para la prevención de infecciones en pacientes tratados con ellas, basándose en la evidencia de mayor calidad disponible para los biológicos seleccionados. El consenso cuenta de dos manuscritos. Esta primera parte detalla los riesgos de desarrollar complicaciones infecciosas dependiendo del tipo de biológico utilizado para determinada patología. La revisión incluyó búsqueda amplia en MEDLINE y Epistemonikos de revisiones sistemáticas y meta-análisis de estudios clínicos controlados y caso/control que examinaban infecciones posteriores al tratamiento con anti-TNF alfa, anti-CD20, anti-CD52, CTLA4-Ig y anti-integrinas. Esta búsqueda se complementó con revisión de cohortes multicéntricas de usuarios de biológicos, del MMWR del CDC, Atlanta, E.U.A. y de registros nacionales y/o de sociedades científicas en la que se hiciera mención a complicaciones infecciosas derivadas del uso de biológicos.


The use of biological therapies has meant a great improvement in the management of several conditions like autoimmune, neoplastic or others diseases. Although its use has implied significant improvements in the prognosis of these diseases, it is not exempt from complications: infectious diseases as one of them. The objective of this consensus was to evaluate, from an infectious viewpoint, the safeness of the most frequently used biological therapies and give recommendations for the prevention of infections in patients treated with these drugs. These recommendations were based on the highest quality evidence available for the selected biologics. The consensus counts of two manuscripts. This first part details the risks of developing infectious complications depending on the type of biological used for a certain pathology. This evaluation included a broad search in MEDLINE and Epistemonikos of systematic reviews and meta-analyzes of controlled clinical trials and casecontrol examining post-treatment infections with anti-TNF alpha, anti-CD20, anti-CD52, CTLA4-Ig and anti-integrins. The research was complemented by a review of: multicentre cohorts of biological users, the MMWR of the CDC, Atlanta, U.S.A., and national registers and scientific societies in which infectious complications derived from the use of biological therapies were mentioned.

Esta segunda parte corresponde a la guía clínica que detalla estas recomendaciones mediante estrategias de cribado, terapias profilácticas e indicación de vacunas, según corresponde, para infecciones bacterianas, y por micobacterias en particular, virus, hongos y parásitos, tanto para adultos como para niños.

Calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) activates the NLRP3 inflammasome with consequences on homeostatic responses. However, little is known about how this process is orchestrated. Since proteolysis of critical regulators of NLRP3 inflammasome contribute to its activation, we aimed to understand how CaSR stimulates proteolytic pathways to activate the NLRP3 inflammasome. We found that proteasome and lysosome-dependent mechanisms are activated by CaSR to promote the degradation of important regulators of NLRP inflammasome. The pathway involves Gαq/PLC/PKC and Gßγ/PI3K signaling cascades and IRAK1 ubiquitination. In addition, CaSR stimulates Hsp70 expression activating a chaperone-assisted protein degradation that dictates the fate of ASC, NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor family protein 3), IRAK1 and TRAF6 proteins, turning on the NLRP3 inflammasome. In response to CaSR signaling, these proteins are degraded through the combination of CUPS (chaperone-assisted ubiquitin proteasome pathway) and CAEMI (chaperone-assisted endosomal microautophagy) systems being integrated by autophagosomes (chaperone-assisted macroautophagy, CAMA), as indicated by LC3-II, a classical marker for autophagy, that is induced in the process. Furthermore, CaSR triggers the proteolytic cleavage of pro-IL-1ß (IL-1ß, 31 kDa) into mature IL-1ß (IL-1ß, 17 kDa), via the proteasome. Taken together, our results indicate that CaSR promotes NLRP3 inflammasome activation and proteolytic maturation of IL-1ß by inducing CUPS and CAEMI, chaperone-assisted degradation pathways. Overall, these results support the inclusion of CaSR as an activator of homeostasis-altering molecular processes.

Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia del pie en riesgo de ulceración (PRU) según International Working Group on Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) expresada por la presencia de neuropatía diabética periférica (NPD) y/o enfermedad arterial periférica (EAP) y/o deformidad (D) y sus factores asociados en diabéticos tipo 2 en la atención primaria de la salud (APS) de Trujillo. Materiales y métodos: Se captó una muestra de 301 diabéticos tipo 2 de centros de salud, públicos y privados del distrito de Trujillo, pertenecientes a la APS; posteriormente se estratificó según el sistema IWGDF para pie en riesgo, se consideraron diagnósticos de NPD, EAP y D. Se realizó estadística descriptiva y analítica con las variables evaluadas por SPSS versión 22. Además, se solicitó una acreditación de un comité de ética e investigación. Resultados: Los diabéticos tipo 2 mostraron los siguientes diagnósticos: el 13,3 % presentaron NPD, EAP en 18,6 % y D en 64,1 %. Además, se encontró que el 86,7 % no presentan PRU, el 4 % se encuentra en un riesgo leve y el 9,3 % en moderado; con una prevalencia total de 13,3 %. Finalmente, se encontraron como factores de riesgo asociados a la regularidad de atención, hipertensión arterial, hipoglicemia, actividad física y calzado ortopédico. Conclusiones: Estudio epidemiológico único en la APS peruana que muestra una prevalencia de nivel moderado en PRU, pero menor respecto a sus similares latinoamericanos, siendo el componente deformidad la más frecuentes; y con factores asociados positivos y muy débiles cuando se analizó los pacientes con y sin riesgo


Objective: To determine the prevalence of foot ulceration risk (FUR) according to the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF) guidelines, demonstrated by the presence of peripheral diabetic neuropathy (PDN) and/or peripheral arterial disease (PAD) and/or deformity (D), as well as its associated factors, in type 2 diabetic patients attending the primary health care (PHC) in Trujillo. Materials and methods: A sample of 301 type 2 diabetic patients was collected from public and private health centers of the district of Trujillo belonging to the PHC. Subsequently, said sample was stratified according to the IWGDF guidelines on foot at risk, considering diagnoses such as PDN, PAD and D. Descriptive and analytical statistics were performed with the variables evaluated by the IBM SPSS Statistics V22.0. In addition, accreditation was requested from an ethics and research committee. Results: Type 2 diabetic patients showed the following diagnoses: 13.3 % presented PDN, 18.6 % PAD and 64.1 % D. Besides, it was found that 86.7 % have no FUR, 4 % are at slight risk of and 9.3 % are at moderate risk of developing foot ulcers, with a total prevalence of 13.3 %. Finally, the associated risk factors were medical attention frequency, hypertension, hypoglycemia, physical activity and orthopedic footwear. Conclusions: This is the only epidemiological study performed in the Peruvian PHC showing a moderate prevalence of FUR, but lower than its Latin-American peers' experiences. Deformity was the most frequent component, and positive and very weak associated factors were found when analyzing patients with and without risk factors.

Mumps virus usually produces a benign infection characterized by increased parotid volume which, prior to vaccination, mainly affected children and adolescents. After the introduction of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, mumps incidence decreased dramatically. This intervention also produced a change in its clinical presentation, moving to young adult patients, with an increased risk of complications. We report two clinical mumps cases in young adults with different clinical presentations. In both cases, serologic assays were assessed and, in one case, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was performed in order to confirm the diagnosis. The isolated virus was characterized and identifed as G genotype, the same genotype observed during outbreaks in United States and Europe, and different to the vaccinal strain. Mumps virus is currently circulating in Chile and it is important to be aware of possible outbreaks. Viral diagnosis can be difficult, particularly in populations with high vaccination coverage. Therefore, the access to etiologic study through PCR and serology becomes more relevant in order to optimize clinical management and secondary prevention measures.
