RESUMO

The prevailing opinion emphasizes fronto-parietal network (FPN) is key in mediating general fluid intelligence (gF). Meanwhile, recent studies show that human MT complex (hMT+), located at the occipito-temporal border and involved in 3D perception processing, also plays a key role in gF. However, the underlying mechanism is not clear, yet. To investigate this issue, our study targets visuo-spatial intelligence, which is considered to have high loading on gF. We use ultra-high field magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) to measure GABA/Glu concentrations in hMT+ combining resting-state fMRI functional connectivity (FC), behavioral examinations including hMT+ perception suppression test and gF subtest in visuo-spatial component. Our findings show that both GABA in hMT+ and frontal-hMT+ functional connectivity significantly correlate with the performance of visuo-spatial intelligence. Further, serial mediation model demonstrates that the effect of hMT+ GABA on visuo-spatial gF is fully mediated by the hMT+ frontal FC. Together our findings highlight the importance in integrating sensory and frontal cortices in mediating the visuo-spatial component of general fluid intelligence.

Current industrial propane dehydrogenation (PDH) processes predominantly use either toxic Cr-based or expensive Pt-based catalysts, necessitating urgent exploration for alternatives. Herein, we present Zn2SiO4, an easily prepared, cost-effective material, as a highly efficient and stable catalyst for PDH. Uniquely, Zn2SiO4 nanocrystals do not require dispersion on support materials, commonly needed for catalytic active oxide clusters, but function as a self-supporting catalyst instead. During the reaction's induction period, surface Zn species on the Zn2SiO4 crystal reduce to coordinately unsaturated ZnOx single sites, serving as highly active catalytic centers. The Zn2SiO4 catalyst demonstrates a stable performance over 200 hours of PDH operation at 550 °C. We further find that introducing a minuscule amount of CO2 into the propane feed significantly extends the catalyst lifespan to over 2000 hours. This enhancement arises from the special role of CO2 in facilitating the removal of strongly adsorbed H*, preventing the complete reduction of ZnOx. After prolonged reaction, the activity of Zn2SiO4 can be fully restored by etching the surface layer to expose fresh Zn species, available throughout the crystals. The combination of CO2 introduction and catalytic site regeneration strategies is expected to enable a year-long PDH operation using a single batch of Zn2SiO4 catalyst.

Objective: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a significant global public health concern, with variable prevalence rates across regions. The prevalence of transfusion-transmitted HBV infection (TT-HBV) via donated blood necessitates an evaluation of blood safety and potential risks to the population. This study assessed the prevalence of HBV infection among blood donors in Southwestern China over 6 years. Methods: We analyzed 903,023 blood donations from a central blood center in Southwestern China between January 2017 and December 2022. The prevalence of HBV in donations was determined for one-time and repeat donors, considering birth cohorts and covariates. Demographic characteristics, donation frequency, and anti-HBV antibody status were analyzed to estimate the incidence of TT-HBV. Results: One-time donors provided 47.78% of the samples, and 52.22% were from repeat donors. The HBV prevalence decreased from 1.0% in 2017 to 0.87% in 2022 in one-time donors and from 0.30% to 0.09%, respectively, in repeat donors. A significantly lower HBV prevalence was identified in the post-1992 birth cohort (0.33%) than in the pre-1992 birth cohort (1.67%). The estimated incidences of TT-HBV occurring from one-time donors, repeat donors, post-1992 birth cohort donors, and pre-1992 birth cohort donors were 20.76, 13.84, 0.82, and 20.98 per 104 person-years, respectively. Conclusion: Our findings indicate a decreasing trend in HBV prevalence among blood donors in Southwestern China over the 6-year study period. This decline may be attributed to the widespread administration of HBV vaccinations and stringent screening measures implemented by blood donation centers. Continuous monitoring for HBV among blood donors is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of preventive measures and inform future strategies to reduce transmission.

Objective: To explore the correlations of cancer-related fatigue (CRF) with clinicopathological features and quality of life in gastric cancer. Methods: Using a convenient sampling method, 230 patients with gastric cancer admitted to our hospital from March 2020 to July 2022 were collected. They were divided into the fatigue group (n = 152) and the nonfatigue group (n = 78) according to the presence/absence of CRF. Relevant data were collected and compared. Results: Statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in age ratio (χ 2 = 41.671, P < 0.001), T stage ratio (χ 2 = 9.973, P = 0.019), N stage ratio (P < 0.001), PS score (P < 0.001), and the degree of gastric cancer thickening (14.21 ± 3.32 vs. 12.12 ± 3.81 mm, t = 4.572, P < 0.001). Patients with gastric cancer had the lowest CRF Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI) score for general activities (2.26 ± 0.37) and high scores for work activities (6.23 ± 0.24) and enjoyment of life (7.11 ± 1.34). Pearson's correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between patient emotions and the CRF BFI score (r = 0.443, P = 0.001). Patients with mild, moderate, and severe CRF showed statistically significant differences in physical functioning (83.34 ± 21.12 vs. 65.23 ± 21.14 vs. 32.25 ± 17.29, F = 15.382, P < 0.001), role emotional (72.53 ± 21.21 vs. 67.33 ± 27.56 vs. 54.37 ± 26.45, F = 14.483, P < 0.001), fatigue (49.12 ± 18.44 vs. 54.61 ± 26.64 vs. 67.51 ± 14.27, F = 13.581, P < 0.001), bodily pain (56.56 ± 25.12 vs. 76.43 ± 21.71 vs. 80.32 ± 12.39, F = 14.582, P < 0.001), appetite reduction (57.45 ± 25.47 vs. 69.51 ± 16.21 vs. 76.23 ± 27.58, F = 14.592, P < 0.001), and overall health status and quality of life (67.21 ± 19.45 vs. 53.43 ± 22.32 vs. 43.43 ± 12.52, F = 16.494, P < 0.001). After chemotherapy, the average CRF BFI scores of the partial remission (PR), disease stability (SD), and disease progression (PD) groups all reduced than those before chemotherapy (all P < 0.05). At 3 months of follow-up, a comparison of the average CRF BFI scores with those before chemotherapy revealed a decrease in the SD and PR groups and an increase in the PD group. Conclusion: In conclusion, CRF is correlated with age, T stage, and N stage in gastric cancer. The later the T and N stages, the more significant the effect on fatigue. Moreover, CRF can also affect the quality of life in gastric cancer, and the severer the CRF, the poorer the quality of life.

Previous studies have indicated that various blood cell traits are associated with a higher risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). However, the causal relationship remains uncertain. We collected data from the China pulmonary thromboembolism registry study and the China pulmonary health study, using propensity score matching and two-sample Mendelian randomization analyses with summary statistics from genome-wide association studies of blood cell traits and VTE in the East Asian population. Our findings revealed that platelet (PLT) count and hemoglobin (Hb) levels were significantly higher in VTE patients compared to the general population (p value <0.01). Genetically predicted Hb levels were positively associated with VTE, with an odds ratio (OR) of 2.38 (1.13-5.01), p value = 0.022. Similarly, genetically predicted PLT count was positively correlated with VTE, with an OR of 1.33 (1.02-1.74), p value = 0.038. These results suggest a causal relationship and potential targets for prevention.

Objective: Previous studies have found that patients with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) exhibit impaired visual motion perception capabilities, and multi-level abnormalities in the human middle temporal complex (MT+), a key brain area for processing visual motion information. However, the brain activity pattern of MDD patients during the perception of visual motion information is currently unclear. In order to study the effect of depression on the activity and functional connectivity (FC) of MT+ during the perception of visual motion information, we conducted a study combining task-state fMRI and psychophysical paradigm to compare MDD patients and healthy control (HC). Methods: Duration threshold was examined through a visual motion perception psychophysical experiment. In addition, a classic block-design grating motion task was utilized for fMRI scanning of 24 MDD patients and 25 HC. The grating moved randomly in one of eight directions. We examined the neural activation under visual stimulation conditions compared to the baseline and FC. Results: Compared to HC group, MDD patients exhibited increased duration threshold. During the task, MDD patients showed decreased beta value and percent signal change in left and right MT+. In the sample comprising MDD and HC, there was a significant negative correlation between beta value in right MT+ and duration threshold. And in MDD group, activation in MT+ were significantly correlated with retardation score. Notably, no such differences in activation were observed in primary visual cortex (V1). Furthermore, when left MT+ served as the seed region, compared to the HC, MDD group showed increased FC with right calcarine fissure and surrounding cortex and decreased FC with left precuneus. Conclusion: Overall, the findings of this study highlight that the visual motion perception function impairment in MDD patients relates to abnormal activation patterns in MT+, and task-related activity are significantly connected to the retardation symptoms of the disease. This not only provides insights into the potential neurobiological mechanisms behind visual motion perception disorder in MDD patients from the aspect of task-related brain activity, but also supports the importance of MT+ as a candidate biomarker region for MDD.

While live commerce provides consumers with a new shopping experience, it also leads them to experience shopping failures and to develop a self-protection mechanism to prevent wrong purchases. To address this issue, merchants have attempted to explore new marketing methods for live commerce, giving rise to an offense and defense game between streamers and consumers. In this study, we sought to confirm the effectiveness of consumer protection mechanisms and the impact of streamers' information overload marketing strategy in live commerce. Accordingly, we constructed a hypothetical model based on protection motive theory and information overload theory. In addition, we analyzed the data from the simulated live streaming marketing on seven hundred people through partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results indicate that product utilitarian value uncertainty, consumers' experiential efficacy, and response costs, which are the main factors in the formation of consumer protection mechanisms, influence consumers' intention to stop their purchases. Streamers can circumvent consumer self-protection mechanisms through information overload marketing by reducing utilitarian value uncertainty and consumers' experiential efficacy and increasing consumers' response costs. However, consumers would be able to rebuild their self-protection mechanism through consumer resilience, which moderates the effects of information overload. This study's results provide important theoretical perspectives and new ideas for formulating marketing strategies for live commerce.

The black cutworm, Agrotis ipsilon (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), is an important agricultural pest. Phoxim is an organophosphate insecticide that has been widely used to control A. ipsilon. The extensive application of phoxim has resulted in a reduction in phoxim susceptibility in A. ipsilon. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying phoxim tolerance in A. ipsilon remain unclear. In this work, we report the involvement of AiGSTz1, a zeta class glutathione S-transferase, in phoxim tolerance in A. ipsilon. Exposure to a sublethal concentration (LC50) of phoxim dramatically upregulated the transcription level of the AiGSTz1 gene in A. ipsilon larvae, and this upregulation might be caused by phoxim-induced oxidative stress. The recombinant AiGSTz1 protein expressed in Escherichia coli was able to metabolize phoxim. Furthermore, AiGSTz1 displayed antioxidant activity to protect against oxidative stress. Knockdown of AiGSTz1 by RNA interference significantly increased the mortality rate of A. ipsilon larvae in response to phoxim. In addition, the transcription factor AiCncC can bind to the cap 'n' collar isoform C: muscle aponeurosis fibromatosis (CncC:Maf) binding site in the putative promoter of the AiGSTz1 gene. Silencing of AiCncC resulted in a dramatic downregulation of AiGSTz1. These results indicated that AiGSTz1 is involved in phoxim tolerance and is potentially regulated by AiCncC. These findings provide valuable insights into the defense mechanisms used by A. ipsilon against phoxim.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the predictive capabilities of MRI-based radiomics for detecting lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) in patients diagnosed with endometrial carcinoma (EC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 160 female patients diagnosed with EC. The radiomics model including T2-weighted and dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) images was established. Additionally, a conventional MRI model, which incorporated MRI-reported FIGO stage, deep myometrial infiltration (DMI), adnexal involvement, and vaginal/parametrial involvement, was established. Finally, a combined model was created by integrating the radiomics signature and conventional MRI characteristics. The predictive performance was validated by the area under the curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. A stratified analysis was conducted to compare the differences between the three models by Delong test. RESULTS: In predicting LVSI, the radiomics model outperformed the clinical model in the training cohort (AUC: 0.899 vs. 0.8862) but not in the test cohort (AUC: 0.812 vs. 0.8758). The combined model demonstrated superior performance in both the training and test cohorts (training cohort: AUC = 0.934, 95% CI: 0.8807-0.9873; testing cohort: AUC = 0.905, 95% CI: 0.7679-1). CONCLUSIONS: The combined model exhibited utility in preoperatively predicting LVSI in patients with EC, offering potential benefits for clinical decision-making.

Pyrethroids serve as a significant method for managing and preventing parasitic diseases in fish. Among these, deltamethrin (DEL) is used extensively in aquatic environments. Our previous work has been confirmed that DEL exposure can induce oxidative stress and immunosuppression on the gill mucosal barrier of crucian carp (Carassius auratus). However, it is not clear whether DEL affects the susceptibility of farmed fish to bacterial infection. In this study, fish was pre-exposed to different DEL concentration (0, 0.3 and 0.6 µg L-1) and then challenged by immersion with Aeromonas hydrophila (1.0 × 10^8 CFU mL-1). After immersion challenge, fish pre-exposed to DEL developed prominent lipopolysaccharides level in gill and serum and had a significantly lower survival rate compared to the control group. In DEL pre-exposure fish after immersion, the gill apoptosis levels were significantly higher and disrupted the tight junction barrier by downregulating the zo1 and claudin12. Furthermore, fish pre-exposed to DEL exhibited increased activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), and malonaldehyde (MDA) levels in the early stage after immersion but experiencing decreased activities of glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and lysozyme (LZM) in the later stage after immersion. And this process was regulated by the NRF2 pathway. Additionally, fish pre-exposed to DEL after immersion had significantly lower mRNA levels of immune-related genes tlr4, myd88, tnfα, and il-1ß. Overall, these findings indicate that DEL damaged the gill barrier, weakened the immune response, raised LPS levels, and heightened vulnerability to A. hydrophila infection in crucian carp, resulting in mortality. Thus, this work will help social groups and aquaculture workers to understand the potential risk of DEL exposure for bacterial secondary infection in cultured fish.

When investigating the relationship between the acoustic environment and human wellbeing, there is a potential problem resulting from data source self-correlation. To address this data source self-correlation problem, we proposed a third-party assessment combined with an artificial intelligence (TPA-AI) model. The TPA-AI utilized acoustic spectrograms to assess the soundscape's affective quality. First, we collected data on public perceptions of urban sounds (i.e., inviting 100 volunteers to label the affective quality of 7051 10-s audios on a polar scale from annoying to pleasant). Second, we converted the labeled audios to acoustic spectrograms and used deep learning methods to train the TPA-AI model, achieving a 92.88 % predictive accuracy for binary classification. Third, geographic ecological momentary assessment (GEMA) was used to log momentary audios from 180 participants in their daily life context, and we employed the well-trained TPA-AI model to predict the affective quality of these momentary audios. Lastly, we compared the explanatory power of the three methods (i.e., sound level meters, sound questionnaires, and the TPA-AI model) when estimating the relationship between momentary stress level and the acoustic environment. Our results indicate that the TPA-AI's explanatory power outperformed the sound level meter, while using a sound questionnaire might overestimate the effect of the acoustic environment on momentary stress and underestimate other confounders.

In various countries worldwide, the incidence of colon cancer-related deaths has been on the rise in recent years. Early detection of symptoms and identification of intestinal polyps are crucial for improving the cure rate of colon cancer patients. Automated computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) has emerged as a solution to the low efficiency of traditional methods relying on manual diagnosis by physicians. Deep learning is the latest direction of CAD development and has shown promise for colonoscopic polyp segmentation. In this paper, we present a multi-level encoder-decoder architecture for polyp segmentation based on the Transformer architecture, termed NA-SegFormer. To improve the performance of existing Transformer-based segmentation algorithms for edge segmentation on colon polyps, we propose a patch merging module with a neighbor attention mechanism based on overlap patch merging. Since colon tract polyps vary greatly in size and different datasets have different sample sizes, we used a unified focal loss to solve the problem of category imbalance in colon tract polyp data. To assess the effectiveness of our proposed method, we utilized video capsule endoscopy and typical colonoscopy polyp datasets, as well as a dataset containing surgical equipment. On the datasets Kvasir-SEG, Kvasir-Instrument and KvasirCapsule-SEG, the Dice score of our proposed model reached 94.30%, 94.59% and 82.73%, with an accuracy of 98.26%, 99.02% and 81.84% respectively. The proposed method achieved inference speed with an Frame-per-second (FPS) of 125.01. The results demonstrated that our suggested model effectively segmented polyps better than several well-known and latest models. In addition, the proposed method has advantages in trade-off between inference speed and accuracy, and it will be of great significance to real-time colonoscopic polyp segmentation. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the reproductive outcomes after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis in patients experiencing recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) combined with intrauterine adhesions (IUA). DESIGN: Single-center retrospective cohort study. SETTING: International referral hospital for women with IUA and RPL. PATIENTS: Between January 2018 and June 2022, a cohort of 64 women diagnosed with RPL and IUA were studied, with a follow-up period of at least one year after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. INTERVENTIONS: All patients had a diagnosis of IUA from the diagnostic hysteroscopy and were treated with hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, utilizing intraoperative ultrasound monitoring as required. MAIN MEASUREMENTS: Live birth rate and menstrual pattern change (subjective assessment) after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. RESULTS: In our cohort, 59.38% (38/64) achieved pregnancy following hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, with 92.11% (35/38) conceiving within two years of the procedure. The miscarriage rate was recorded at 17.19% (11/64), and the live birth rate stood at 42.19% (27/64). Throughout the extended follow-up period, 64.06% (41/64) of the patients reported increased menstrual blood volume and improvements in menstrual patterns post-hysteroscopic adhesiolysis. Univariate analysis indicated that being aged ≥35 years (P=.026), having a history of infertility (P=.003), the presence of moderate or severe IUA (P=.023), and experiencing menstrual improvements post-surgery (P=.001) were independent predictors of live birth. Multivariate analysis further identified that women with a history of infertility had a reduced chance of live birth following hysteroscopic adhesiolysis (P=.008), while those who reported menstrual pattern improvements postoperatively had an increased probability of achieving a live birth (P=.031). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings indicate that RPL and IUA patients without prior infertility and showing menstrual pattern improvement after hysteroscopic adhesiolysis, are more likely to achieve live births. Standardized hysteroscopic treatment, postoperative anti-adhesion care, and early pregnancy planning are key to improving fertility outcomes in these patients.

Keldysh field theory, based on adiabatic assumptions, serves as a widely used framework for addressing nonequilibrium many-body systems. Nonetheless, the validity of such adiabatic assumption when addressing interacting Gibbs states remains a topic of contention. Interestingly, the knowledge of work statistics developed in nonequilibrium thermodynamics helps us to quantitatively explore this problem. Consequently, we deduce a universal theorem delineating the characteristics of evolutions that transition an initial Gibbs state to another. Based on this theorem, we analytically ascertain that adiabatic evolutions fail to transition a noninteracting Gibbs state to its interacting counterpart. However, the adiabatic evolution remains a superior approximation relative to its nonadiabatic counterparts. Numerics verifying our theory and predictions are also provided. Furthermore, our findings render insights into the Gibbs state preparation within the domain of quantum computation.

Objective: To investigate the role of eosinophil counts (EC) in microvascular invasion (MVI) for enhancing the radiomics based diagnostic model. Additionally, its correlation with early recurrence and tumor immune microenvironment was explored. Methods: Propensity score matching was employed to evaluate on 462 cases whether EC was an independent risk factor for MVI. Subgroup analyses examined EC's effect on MVI across varying hypersplenism degrees. Univariate-multivariate logistic regression identified MVI's independent factors to develop a diagnostic model. Univariate-multivariate COX regression determined early recurrence factors. Co-detection by indexing (CODEX) constructed the immune score (IS), and Spearman correlation analyzed its association with peripheral immunity. Results: EC was an independent risk factor for MVI (p=0.038, OR=1.304 (95% CI: 1.014-1.677)), and its effect on MVI disappeared with the severity of hypersplenism. The diagnostic model with EC was significantly improved (AUC=0.787 (95% CI: 0.737-0.836) vs AUC=0.748(95% CI: 0.694-0.802, p=0.005)). MVI was an independent risk factor for early recurrence (p<0.001, HR = 2.254 (95% CI: 1.557-3.263)). IS was negatively correlated with lymphocyte counts (R=-0.311, p=0.022), and positively correlated with EC (R=0.301, p=0.027) and RS (R = 0.315, p = 0.018). Conclusion: EC was an independent risk factor for MVI and was related to the tumor immune microenvironment. EC should be included in the diagnosis of MVI to improve diagnostic efficiency.

The forming quality of profiled ring rolling not only encompasses macroscopic accuracy but also emphasizes the microstructure. Due to the multiple process parameters and complex metal flow during profiled ring rolling, the various forming defects are difficult to control and difficult to study theoretically. The objective of this study is to establish a comprehensive method for evaluating the forming quality of profiled rings, which considers both the macroscopic forming accuracy and the microstructure. Firstly, the synthetic size factor was defined, and the evolutionary relation between the section forming rate and the diameter growth rate of E-section ring rolling was analyzed in detail. The synthetic size factor can be used to describe the dimensional evolution and evaluate the forming accuracy of the profiled ring rolling process. Taking into full consideration the features of intermittent deformation in local areas, a microstructure evolution model of the Inconel718 alloy during E-section ring rolling, which can accurately predict the recrystallization volume fraction and average grain size of the final ring, was established. Then, combined with finite element simulation, the influence of the rotation speed of the driving roll on the macro-size evolution and microstructure was systematically analyzed. The results indicate that there is often a discrepancy between dimensional accuracy and microstructure uniformity in the optimization trend. For instance, the higher the rotation speed of the driving roll is, the more uniform the microstructure is, but the more difficult it is for the section profile to form. Finally, combined with response surface methodology (RSM), multi-parameter optimization was carried out with section forming accuracy and grain uniformity as the optimization objectives. By using the optimal parameters, an E-section ring with a complete profile and a uniform microstructure was obtained, with a maximum prediction error of the recrystallization volume fraction lower than 5%. The results show that the macroscopic and microscopic quality evaluation methods proposed in this study, as well as the optimization method combining RSM, can be effectively applied to the process optimization of profiled ring rolling.

Graphene aerogels hold huge promise for the development of high-performance pressure sensors for future human-machine interfaces due to their ordered microstructure and conductive network. However, their application is hindered by the limited strain sensing range caused by the intrinsic stiffness of the porous microstructure. Herein, an anisotropic cross-linked chitosan and reduced graphene oxide (CCS-rGO) aerogel metamaterial is realized by reconfiguring the microstructure from a honeycomb to a buckling structure at the dedicated cross-section plane. The reconfigured CCS-rGO aerogel shows directional hyperelasticity with extraordinary durability (no obvious structural damage after 20 000 cycles at a directional compressive strain of ≤0.7). The CCS-rGO aerogel pressure sensor exhibits an ultrahigh sensitivity of 121.45 kPa-1, an unprecedented sensing range, and robust mechanical and electrical performance. The aerogel sensors are demonstrated to monitor human motions, control robotic hands, and even integrate into a flexible keyboard to play music, which opens a wide application potential in future human-machine interfaces.

Glioblastoma represents the predominant and a highly aggressive primary neoplasm of the central nervous system that has an abnormal metabolism. Our previous study showed that chrysomycin A (Chr-A) curbed glioblastoma progression in vitro and in vivo. However, whether Chr-A could inhibit orthotopic glioblastoma and how it reshapes metabolism are still unclear. In this study, Chr-A markedly suppressed the development of intracranial U87 gliomas. The results from airflow-assisted desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AFADESI-MSI) indicated that Chr-A improved the abnormal metabolism of mice with glioblastoma. Key enzymes including glutaminase (GLS), glutamate dehydrogenases 1 (GDH1), hexokinase 2 (HK2) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) were regulated by Chr-A. Chr-A further altered the level of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH), thus causing oxidative stress with the downregulation of Nrf-2 to inhibit glioblastoma. Our study offers a novel perspective for comprehending the anti-glioma mechanism of Chr-A, highlighting its potential as a promising chemotherapeutic agent for glioblastoma.

Micafungin (MFG) is a widely used echinocandin antifungal agent for treating invasive candidiasis, particularly in critically ill patients. However, its pharmacokinetics can be highly variable in this population. This systematic review aims to summarize population pharmacokinetic models and provide recommendations for its use in intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Monte Carlo simulations were implemented to compare pharmacokinetic parameters and probability of target attainment (PTA) against various Candida species. A total of 16 studies were included, of which 6 studies were conducted in adult ICU patients. The key covariates were body size, liver function, and sepsis-related organ failure assessment score (SOFA) score. The median MFG clearance in adult ICU patients was 30-51% higher than in adult non-ICU patients. For infections with C. albican with MIC below 0.016 mg/L, micafungin dosages of 100 and 150 mg/d were recommended for adult non-ICU and ICU patients, respectively. For C. tropicalis and C. glabrata, 200 and 250 mg/d were recommended, respectively. However, for C. krusei and C. parapsilosis, none of the tested dosage regimens achieved assumed PTA criteria within MIC ranges of 0.125-0.25 mg/L and 0.125-2 mg/L, respectively. Therefore, MFG dosage regimens in ICU and non-ICU patients should be tailored based on the Candida spp. and their respective MIC values.

Previous studies typically assumed a constant total organic carbon (OC) storage in the lake water column, neglecting its significant variability within a changing world. Based on extensive field data and satellite monitoring techniques, we demonstrate considerable spatiotemporal variability in OC concentration and storage for 24,366 Chinese lakes during 1984-2023. Here we show that dissolved OC concentration is high in northwest saline lakes and particulate OC concentration is high in southeast eutrophic lakes. Along with increasing OC concentration and water volume, dissolved and particulate OC storage increase by 44.6% and 33.5%, respectively. Intensified human activities, water input, and wind disturbance are the key drivers for increasing OC storage. Moreover, higher OC storage further leads to an 11.0% increase in nationwide OC burial and a decrease in carbon emissions from 71.1% of northwest lakes. Similar changes are occurring globally, which suggests that lakes are playing an increasingly important role in carbon sequestration.
