RESUMO

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia, characterized by memory loss, cognitive decline, personality changes, and various neurological symptoms. The role of blood-brain barrier (BBB) injury, extracellular matrix (ECM) abnormalities, and oligodendrocytes (ODCs) dysfunction in AD has gained increasing attention, yet the detailed pathogenesis remains elusive. This study integrates single-cell sequencing of AD patients' cerebrovascular system with a genome-wide association analysis. It aims to elucidate the associations and potential mechanisms behind pericytes injury, ECM disorder, and ODCs dysfunction in AD pathogenesis. Finally, we identified that abnormalities in the pericyte PI3K-AKT-FOXO signaling pathway may be involved in the pathogenic process of AD. This comprehensive approach sheds new light on the complex etiology of AD and opens avenues for advanced research into its pathogenesis and therapeutic strategies.

There is considerable uncertainty regarding the associations between various risk factors and Parkinson's Disease (PD). This study systematically screened and validated a wide range of potential PD risk factors from 502,364 participants in the UK Biobank. Baseline data for 1851 factors across 11 categories were analyzed through a phenome-wide association study (PheWAS). Polygenic risk scores (PRS) for PD were used to diagnose Parkinson's Disease and identify factors associated with PD diagnosis through PheWAS. Two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis was employed to assess causal relationships. PheWAS results revealed 267 risk factors significantly associated with PD-PRS among the 1851 factors, and of these, 27 factors showed causal evidence from MR analysis. Compelling evidence suggests that fluid intelligence score, age at first sexual intercourse, cereal intake, dried fruit intake, and average total household income before tax have emerged as newly identified risk factors for PD. Conversely, maternal smoking around birth, playing computer games, salt added to food, and time spent watching television have been identified as novel protective factors against PD. The integration of phenotypic and genomic data may help to identify risk factors and prevention targets for PD.

INTRODUCTION: Anemia may contribute significantly to the onset of Parkinson's disease (PD). Current research on the association between anemia and PD risk is inconclusive, and the relationships between anemia-related blood cell indices and PD incidence require further clarification. This study aims to investigate the relationships between anemia, blood cell indicators, and PD risk using a thorough prospective cohort study. METHODS: We used data from the UK Biobank, a prospective cohort study of 502,649 participants, and ultimately, 365,982 participants were included in the analysis. Cox proportional hazards models were utilized to adjust for confounding factors, aiming to thoroughly explore the associations between anemia and blood cell indices with the risk of incident PD. The interaction between anemia and Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) for PD was also examined. Linear regression and mediation analyses assessed potential mechanisms driven by brain structures, including grey matter volume. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 14.24 years, 2513 participants were diagnosed with PD. Anemia considerably increased PD risk (hazard ratio [HR] 1.98, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 1.81-2.18, P < 0.001) after adjustments. Those with high PRS for anemia had an 83 % higher PD incidence compared to low PRS participants. Sensitivity analyses confirmed result robustness. Linear regression showed that anemia correlated with grey matter volumes and most white matter tracts. Furthermore, mediation analyses identified that the volume of grey matter in Thalamus mediates the relationship between anemia and PD risk. CONCLUSION: In summary, we consider there to be a substantial correlation between anemia and increased PD risk.

V-domain immunoglobulin suppressor of T cell activation (VISTA) plays a critical role in regulating innate and adaptive immune responses within the tumor immune microenvironment. Quantifying VISTA expression is necessary to determine whether patients respond to a related combination immunotherapy. This study developed two 68Ga-labeled small-molecule probes ([68Ga]Ga-DCA and [68Ga]Ga-DNCA) for visualizing and differentiating VISTA expression. These probes exhibited excellent targeting capabilities for multiple tumor types (including B16-F10, 4T1, MC38, and CT26 tumors), consistent with the levels of VISTA expression determined by immunoblotting. Co-injection of inhibitor CA-170 led to decreased tumor uptake of both [68Ga]Ga-DCA and [68Ga]Ga-DNCA. [68Ga]Ga-DCA was used to verify the feasibility of monitoring VISTA expression in lung metastasis models. In summary, this study describes the use of 68Ga-labeled CA-170 analogues as small-molecule probes for imaging VISTA. This could provide a visual method and enable personalized immunotherapy in patients.

PURPOSE: The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is a critical component of the innate immune system and plays a pivotal role in tumor immunotherapy. Developing non-invasive in vivo diagnostic methods for visualizing STING is highly valuable for STING-related immunotherapy. This work aimed to build a noninvasive imaging platform that can dynamically and quantitatively monitor tumor STING expression. METHODS: We investigated the in vivo positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of STING-expressing tumors (B16F10, MC38, and Panc02) with STING-targeted radioprobe ([18F]F-CRI1). The expression of STING in tumors was quantified, and correlation analysis was performed between these results and the outcomes of PET imaging. Furthermore, we optimized the structure of [18F]F-CRIn with polyethylene glycol (PEG) to improve the pharmacokinetic characteristics in vivo. A comprehensive comparison of the imaging and biodistribution results obtained with the optimized probes was conducted in the B16F10 tumors. RESULTS: The PET imaging results showed that the uptake of [18F]F-CRI1 in tumors was positively correlated with the expression of STING in tumors (r = 0.9184, P < 0.001 at 0.5 h). The lipophilicity of the optimized probes was significantly reduced. As a result of employing optimized probes, B16F10 tumor-bearing mice exhibited significantly improved tumor visualization in PET imaging, along with a marked reduction in retention within non-target areas such as the gallbladder and intestines. Biodistribution experiments further validated the efficacy of probe optimization in reducing uptake in non-target areas. CONCLUSION: In summary, this work demonstrated a promising pathway for the development of STING-targeted radioprobes, advancing in vivo PET imaging capabilities.

Bacterial diseases of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract continue to be a major worldwide cause of human morbidity and mortality. Among various enteric pathogens, Shigella spp. are some of the most common and deadly bacterial pathogens. They are responsible for ~125 million worldwide cases of shigellosis, and ~14,000 deaths annually, the majority in children under the age of 5 and occurring in developing countries. Preventing and treating shigellosis with conventional drugs (e.g., vaccines and antibiotics) has proven to be very difficult. Here, we assessed the safety and tolerability of ShigActive™, a lytic bacteriophage preparation targeting Shigella spp., in a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind Phase 1 clinical trial. Ten participants randomized 4:1 received ShigActive™ or placebo co-administered with sodium bicarbonate orally three times daily for 7 days. Solicited and unsolicited adverse events (AEs) were observed for 29 days. Fifty percent of the subjects receiving ShigActive™ reported mild GI-related symptoms, while one participant experienced moderate fatigue. No serious or medically attended AEs occurred through day 90. Additionally, no significant differences in GI-associated inflammatory mediators or fecal microbiome changes were observed between placebo- and ShigActive™-treated subjects, or from a participants' baseline value. The results of this first-in-human (FIH) randomized, controlled Phase 1 trial of ShigActive™ demonstrate that it is safe and well tolerated when orally administered with no significant differences compared to placebo controls.

The limited progress in treatment options and the alarming survival rates in advanced melanoma emphasize the significant research importance of early melanoma diagnosis. RFVT3, a crucial protein at the core of energy metabolism reprogramming in melanoma, might play a pivotal role in early detection. In this study, [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF, based on riboflavin (RF), was rationally developed and validated, serving as an innovative tool for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of RFVT3 expression in melanoma. The in vitro assays of RFVT3 specificity of [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF were performed on B16F10 melanoma cells. Then, PET imaging of melanoma was investigated in B16F10 allograft mouse models with varying volumes. Biodistribution studies are used to clarify the behavior of [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF in vivo. [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF was obtained with high radiochemical purity (>95%). A significant uptake (37.79 ± 6.86%, n = 4) of [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF was observed over time in B16F10 melanoma cells, which was significantly inhibited by RFVT3 inhibitors RF or methylene blue (MB), demonstrating the specific binding of [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF. At 60 min postinjection, the tumor-to-muscle (T/M) ratio of [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF was 4.03 ± 0.34, higher than that of the RF-blocked group (2.63 ± 0.19) and MB-blocked group (2.14 ± 0.20). The T/M ratios for three distinct tumor volumes-small (5 mm), medium (10 mm), and large (15 mm) were observed to be 5.25 ± 0.28, 4.03 ± 0.34, and 3.19 ± 0.55, respectively. The expression of RFVT3 was validated by immunohistochemical staining in various tumor models, with small B16F10 tumors exhibiting the highest expression. [68Ga]Ga-NOTA-RF demonstrates promising properties for the early diagnosis of melanoma and the examination of minute metastatic lesions, indicating its potential to assist in guiding clinical treatment decisions.

Nanosecond Pulsed Electric Fields (nsPEFs) treatment has demonstrated anti-tumor effects on various cancer cell lines. However, the use of this treatment in pancreatic cancer is limited. This study demonstrated that nsPEFs treatment effectively suppressed the proliferation and metastasis of pancreatic cancer cells, while also inducing DNA damage. Meanwhile, animal experiments have shown that nsPEFs effectively suppressed the growth of pancreatic cancer, even in cases where the tumor volume exceeded 500-600 mm3 at the initiation of treatment. Notably, a single treatment session was found to significantly inhibit tumor growth, while also showing no adverse effects on the main organs of the mice. RNA sequencing and bioinformatics revealed that seven key genes (CDK1, CENPA, UBE2C, CCNB2, PLK1, CCNA2, and CCNB14) were significantly correlated with the overall survival rate of patients with pancreatic cancer. Through the application of the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) hypothesis, two miRNAs (has-let-7b-5p and hsa-miR-193b-3p) and four lncRNAs (MIR4435-2HG, ZNF436-AS1, LINC01089, and MIR4435-2HG) were identified as significantly impacting the overall survival of pancreatic cancer patients. We have effectively developed an mRNA-miRNA-lncRNA network that has the potential to stimulate further investigation into the underlying mechanisms of nsPEFs on pancreatic cancer.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a serious interstitial lung disease. However, the definitive diagnosis of IPF is impeded by the limited capabilities of current diagnostic methods, which may fail to capture the optimal timing for treatment. The main goal of this study is to determine the feasibility of a nitroreductase (NTR) responsive probe, 18F-NCRP, for early detection and deterioration monitoring of IPF. 18F-NCRP was obtained with high radiochemical purity (>95 %). BLM-injured mice were established by intratracheal instillation with bleomycin (BLM) and characterized through histological analysis. Longitudinal PET/CT imaging, biodistribution study and in vitro autoradiography were performed. The correlations between the uptake of 18F-NCRP and mean lung density (tested by CT), as well as histopathological characteristics were analyzed. In PET imaging study, 18F-NCRP exhibited promising efficacy in monitoring the progression of IPF, which was earlier than CT. The ratio of uptake in BLM-injured lung to control lung increased from 1.4-fold on D15 to 2.2-fold on D22. Biodistribution data showed a significant lung uptake of 18F-NCRP in BLM-injured mice. There was a strong positive correlation between the 18F-NCRP uptake in the BLM-injured lungs and the histopathological characteristics. Given that, 18F-NCRP PET imaging of NTR, a promising biomarker for investigating the underlying pathogenic mechanism of IPF, is attainable as well as desirable, which might lay the foundation for establishing an NTR-targeted imaging evaluation system of IPF.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder with high prevalence among the elderly, primarily manifested by progressive decline in motor function. The aging global demographic and increased life expectancy have led to a rapid surge in PD cases, imposing a significant societal burden. PD along with other neurodegenerative diseases has garnered increasing attention from the scientific community. In PD, motor symptoms are recognized when approximately 60% of dopaminergic neurons have been damaged. The irreversible feature of PD and benefits of early intervention underscore the importance of disease onset prediction and prompt diagnosis. The advent of digital health technology in recent years has elevated the role of digital biomarkers in precisely and sensitively detecting early PD clinical symptoms, evaluating treatment effectiveness, and guiding clinical medication, focusing especially on motor function, responsiveness and sleep quality assessments. This review examines prevalent digital biomarkers for PD and highlights the latest advancements.

Purpose: An emergency rescue situation is an inevitable challenge in medical work, requiring collaborative efforts from healthcare professionals. Due to a lack of practical experience, novice nurses may encounter difficulties in successfully managing emergency resuscitation events. This study aimed to analyse the authentic psychological experiences of novice nurses participating in emergency resuscitation events by exploring applicable coping methods and management strategies. Methods: This study utilized a hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative research method. We employed purposive sampling to select 27 Novice nurses from West China Hospital of Sichuan University for face-to-face semistructured interviews. Data collection for this study was conducted from November 2023 to January 2024. The interviews were fully audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were coded, categorized and summarized with the help of Nvivo 20.0 software based on the interpretation of phenomenological research methods. Thematic analysis was performed to deeply analyse and extract corresponding themes. The COREQ criteria were used to guide the reporting of this study. Results: The authentic psychological experiences of novice nurses participating in emergency rescue events mainly include six aspects: lack of rescue knowledge reserves and related abilities, psychological and emotional changes, psychological stress after the rescue, rational arrangement of manpower, team cooperation, and postevent reflection and learning. Their authentic psychological experiences directly affect whether novice nurses can effectively respond to emergency rescue events. Conclusions: This study suggested enhancing novice nurses' knowledge, improving their resuscitation skills, and improving their psychological well-being during resuscitation events. It advocates for organized staffing, effective teamwork, and robust support systems to empower novice nurses and improve their overall capabilities in emergencies. These findings offer valuable insights for future research in this area.

Lactate, a metabolic byproduct, has gained recognition as a highly influential signaling molecule. Lactylation, an emerging form of post-translational modification derived from lactate, plays a crucial role in numerous cellular processes such as inflammation, embryonic development, tumor proliferation, and metabolism. However, the precise molecular mechanisms through which lactylation governs these biological functions in both physiological and pathological contexts remain elusive. Hence, it is imperative to provide a comprehensive overview of lactylation in order to elucidate its significance in biological processes and establish a foundation for forthcoming investigations. This review aims to succinctly outline the process of lactylation modification and the characterization of protein lactylation across diverse organisms. Additionally, A summary of the regulatory mechanisms of lactylation in cellular processes and specific diseases is presented. Finally, this review concludes by delineating existing research gaps in lactylation and proposing primary directions for future investigations.

BACKGROUND: Magnolia officinalis, a traditional herbal medicine widely used in clinical practice, exerts antibacterial, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging activities. Neolignans are the main active ingredients of M. officinalis and exert a wide range of pharmacological effects, including anti-Alzheimer's disease (AD) activity. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the published data on the therapeutic effect and mechanism of neolignans on AD in vivo and in vitro. METHODS: PubMed, Web of Science, Google Scholar, and Scopus were systematically reviewed (up to March 1, 2024) for pre-clinical studies. RESULTS: M. officinalis-derived neolignans (honokiol, magnolol, 4-O-methylhonokiol, and obovatol) alleviated behavioral abnormalities, including learning and cognitive impairments, in AD animal models. Mechanistically, neolignans inhibited Aß generation or aggregation, neuroinflammation, and acetylcholinesterase activity; promoted microglial phagocytosis and anti-oxidative stress; alleviated mitochondrial dysfunction and energy metabolism, as well as anti-cholinergic deficiency; and regulated intestinal flora. Furthermore, neolignans may achieve neuroprotection by regulating different molecular pathways, including the NF-κB, ERK, AMPK/mTOR/ULK1, and cAMP/PKA/CREB pathways. CONCLUSIONS: Neolignans exert anti-AD effects through multiple mechanisms and pathways. However, the exact targets, pharmacokinetics, safety, and clinical efficacy in patients with AD need further investigation in multi-center clinical case-control studies.

BACKGROUND: The current understandings of the relationship between air pollution (AP), greenspace exposure and Parkinson's Disease (PD) remain inconclusive. METHODS: We engaged 441,462 participants from the UK Biobank who were not diagnosed with PD. Utilizing Cox proportional hazard regression model, relationships between AP [nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOX), particulate matter < 2.5 µm in aerodynamic diameter(PM2.5), coarse particulate matter between 2.5 µm and 10 µm in aerodynamic diameter(PM2.5-10), particulate matter < 10 µm in aerodynamic diameter(PM10)], greenspace exposure, and PD risk were determined independently. Our analyses comprised three models, adjusted for covariates, and affirmed through six sensitivity analyses to bolster the robustness of our findings. Moreover, mediation analysis was deployed to discern the mediating effect of AP between greenspaces and PD. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 12.23 years (5,574,293 person-years), there were 3,293 PD events. Each interquartile (IQR) increment in NO2 and PM10 concentrations were associated with 10% and 8% increase in PD onset risk, while the increases in NOX, PM2.5 and PM2.5-10 were not associated with PD risk. Additionally, greenspace may safeguard by reducing NO2 and PM10 levels, with the effect mediated by NO2 and PM10 in greenspace-PD relationship. CONCLUSION: Our findings indicate that an IQR increase in ambient NO2 and PM10 concentrations was associated with risk of PD development, while other pollutants (NOX, PM2.5 and PM2.5-10) were not associated with PD risk. Firstly, we find that augmented exposure to greenspace was associated with the lower PD risk by reducing NO2 and PM10 levels.

Introduction: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most widespread neurodegenerative disease in the world. Previous studies have shown that peripheral immune dysregulation plays a paramount role in AD, but whether there is a protective causal relationship between peripheral immunophenotypes and AD risk remains ambiguous. Methods: Two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) was performed using large genome-wide association study (GWAS) genetic data to assess causal effects between peripheral immunophenotypes and AD risk. Utilizing the genetic associations of 731 immune cell traits as exposures. We adopted the inverse variance weighted method as the primary approach. The Weighted median and MR-Egger regression methods were employed as supplements. Various sensitivity analyses were performed to assess the robustness of the outcomes. Results: Based on the IVW method, we identified 14 immune cell traits that significantly reduced the risk of AD, of which six demonstrated statistical significance in both IVW and Weighted median methods. Among the seven immune traits, four were related to regulatory T (Treg) cells : (1) CD25++ CD45RA- CD4 not regulatory T cell % T cell (odds ratio (OR) [95% confidence interval (CI)] = 0.96 [0.95, 0.98], adjusted P = 1.17E-02), (2) CD25++ CD45RA- CD4 not regulatory T cell % CD4+ T cell (OR [95% CI] = 0.97 [0.96, 0.99], adjusted P = 3.77E-02), (3) Secreting CD4 regulatory T cell % CD4 regulatory T cell (OR [95% CI] = 0.98 [0.97, 0.99], adjusted P = 7.10E-03), (4) Activated & secreting CD4 regulatory T cell % CD4 regulatory T cell(OR [95% CI] = 0.98 [0.97, 0.99], adjusted P = 7.10E-03). In addition, HLA DR++ monocyte % monocyte (OR [95% CI] = 0.93 [0.89, 0.98], adjusted P = 4.87E-02) was associated with monocytes, and HLA DR on myeloid Dendritic Cell (OR [95% CI] = 0.93 [0.89, 0.97], adjusted P = 1.17E-02) was related to dendritic cells (DCs). Conclusion: These findings enhance the comprehension of the protective role of peripheral immunity in AD and provide further support for Treg and monocyte as potential targets for immunotherapy in AD.

Here, a polysaccharide derivative acryloyl chitosan (AcCS) is exploited as macro-crosslinker to synthesize a novel ionogel poly (acrylic acid-co-1-Vinyl-3-butyl imidazolium chloride) (AA-IL/AcCS) via a one-pot method. AcCS provides abundant physical and chemical crosslinking sites contributing to the high mechanical stretchability (elongation at break 600 %) and strength (tensile strength 137 kPa) of AA-IL/AcCS. The high-density of dynamic bonds (hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions) in the network of ionogels enables self-healing and self-adhesive features of AA-IL/AcCS. Meanwhile, AA-IL/AcCS exhibits high ionic conductivity (0.1 mS/cm) at room temperature and excellent antifreeze ability (-58 °C). The AA-IL/AcCS-based sensor shows diverse sensory capabilities towards temperature and humidity, moreover, it could precisely detect human motions and handwritings signals. Furthermore, AA-IL/AcCS exhibits excellent bactericidal properties against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. This work opens the possibility of polysaccharides as a macro-crosslinkers for preparing ionogel-based sensors for wearable electronics.

PURPOSE: To investigate the relationship between the lipid profiles of patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and other clinical characteristics, laboratory examination, disease activity, and inflammatory factors. In addition, the risk factors for hyperlipidemia-related complications of pSS and the effect of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) usage on the lipid profile were incorporated into this study. METHODS: This is a single-center, retrospective study that included 367 patients who were diagnosed with pSS at Tongji Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, China from January 2010 to March 2022. Initially, demographic information, clinical characteristics, medication records, and complications of the patients were gathered. A case-control analysis compared the 12 systems involvement (ESSDAI domain), clinical symptoms, and laboratory tests between pSS patients with and without dyslipidemia. A simple linear regression model was employed to investigate the relationship between serum lipid profile and inflammatory factors. Logistics regression analysis was performed to assess variables for hyperlipidemia-related complications of pSS. The paired t-test was then used to evaluate the improvement in lipid profile among pSS patients. RESULTS: 48.7 % of all pSS patients had dyslipidemia, and alterations in lipid levels were related to gender, age, and smoking status but not body mass index (BMI). Dyslipidemia is more prevalent in pSS patients who exhibit heightened autoimmunity and elevated levels of inflammation. Higher concentrations of multiple highly inflammatory factors correlate with a more severe form of dyslipidemia. Non-traditional cardiovascular risk factors may contribute to hyperlipidemia-related complications of pSS, such as increased, low complement 3 (C3) and low C4. According to our study, HCQ usage may protect against lipid-related disease in pSS. CONCLUSION: Attention should be paid to the dyslipidemia of pSS. This research aims to clarify the population portrait of pSS patients with abnormal lipid profiles and provides insights into the correlation between metabolism and inflammation in individuals with pSS and the potential role they play in the advancement of the disease. These findings provide novel avenues for further understanding the underlying mechanisms of pSS pathogenesis.

The objective was to identify medical conditions associated with 30-day readmission, determine patient characteristics for which outpatient follow-up is most associated with reduced readmission, and evaluate how readmission risk changes with time to outpatient follow-up within a mobile integrated health-community paramedicine (MIH-CP) program. This retrospective observational study used data from 1,118 adult patient enrollments in a MIH-CP program operating in Baltimore, Maryland, from May 14, 2018, to December 21, 2021. Bivariate analysis identified chronic disease exacerbations associated with higher 30-day readmission risk. Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox proportional hazard regressions were used to measure how hazard of readmission changes with outpatient follow-up and how that association may vary with other factors. Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate how well time to follow-up could predict 30-day readmission. Timely outpatient follow-up was associated with a significant reduction in hazard of readmission for patients aged 50 and younger and for patients with fewer than 5 social determinants of health needs identified. No significant association between readmission and specific chronic disease exacerbations was observed. An optimal follow-up time frame to reduce readmissions could not be identified. Timely outpatient follow-up may be effective for reducing readmissions in younger patients and patients who are less socially complex. Programs and policies aiming to reduce 30-day readmissions may have more success by expanding efforts to include these patients.

The potential of fulvic acid (FA) to improve plant growth has been acknowledged, but its effect on plant growth and nutrient uptake under nutrient stress remains unclear. This study investigated the effects of different FA application rates on maize growth and nitrogen utilization under low nitrogen stress. The results showed that under low nitrogen stress, FA significantly stimulated maize growth, particularly root development, biomass, and nitrogen content. The enhanced activity levels of key enzymes in nitrogen metabolism were observed, along with differential gene expression in maize, which enriched nitrogen metabolism, amino acid metabolism and plant hormone metabolism. The application of FA regulated the hormones' level, reduced abscisic acid content in leaves and Me-JA content in roots, and increased auxin and zeatin ribose content in leaves. This study concludes that, by promoting root development, nitrogen metabolism, and hormone metabolism, an appropriate concentration of FA can enhance plant tolerance to low nitrogen conditions and improve nitrogen use efficiency.
