RESUMO

A series of new hybrid compounds was prepared combining tetrahydropyran rings with different aromatic systems by means of a 1,2,3-triazole, using a building block strategy. The design of these structures was guided by Lead-Likeness and Molecular Analysis (LLAMA) software, adding modifications to our most potent scaffold (the tetrahydropyran ring) to generate promising "lead-like" candidates, which were subsequently compared against reported anticancer compounds. Our synthesized compounds demonstrated significant antiproliferative activity when compared with the standards cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil, across a panel of six different tumor cell lines. Moreover, compared with our group's previous hybrid compounds, these new structures exhibit similar activity while offering simpler synthesis and greater potential for structural diversification, a fact that was previously an issue. Further investigations on the most active compounds included assessments of reproductive cell survival, inhibition of cell migration, and effects on nuclear morphology, indicating potential diverse mechanisms of action for these compounds. Pharmacokinetic properties were also calculated for the whole series of compounds using the pkCSM online software.

This systematic review aims at offering a comparative analysis of the leading reasons for encounters (RFEs) of patients presenting to primary care facilities. A systemic search was carried out using MEDLINE/PUBMED, CINAHL, Google Scholar, LILACS, and PROQUEST to identify the studies relevant to RFEs in primary health care in June 2020. Fifteen studies met the eligibility criteria which included originality, published between 2015 and 2020, listed two to five RFEs at a primary health care facility, and included patients with acute and/or chronic conditions. The mean total RFEs recorded were 6753.07 (Standard deviation = 17446.38, 95% Confidence Interval 6,753.0667 ± 8,829.088 [± 130.74%]). The most common RFE chapters recorded were Respiratory and Digestive chapters. The patients recorded fever as the most frequently reported RFE while cough was ranked as most common. The physicians reported hypertension as the most frequently reported and most common RFE. The most frequently physician and patient reported RFEs to the primary health care are hypertension and fever. Respiratory and Digestive were the most frequently reported chapters. The findings are useful for the proper implementation of services, facilities, and equipment utilized in Trinidad and Tobago primary health care.

The current study was carried out to explore the phytochemical, antioxidant potential and antibacterial activities of the crude methanolic extract of A. santolinifolia Turcz. Ex Besser. The antioxidant activity was carried out by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) assay, while methanolic extract displayed the highest scavenging activity (DPPH) was 61.31µg/ml on Artemisia santolinifolia root and the lowest (51.05µg/ml) was record for their leaves. Similarly, in (ABTS) the highest activity (89.16µg/ml) was recorded for roots of A. santolinifolia followed by leaves (68.14µg/ml). In low inhibitory concentration assay, the crude methanolic extracts showed significant inhibition against all tested microbes on different concentrations like 25 µg/ml, 50 µg/ml, and 100 µg/ml. The leaves extract of A. santolinifolia AsL showed MIC of 12.5µg/ml for B. subtilis, a gram-positive bacterium, 50µg/ml for gram positive bacteria S. aureus and 37.5 µg/ml for gram negative bacteria P. aeruginosa that is almost equal to the response of standard ciprofloxacin. Our current study revealed that Artemisia santolinifolia root (AsR) exhibited a significant antioxidant potential while AsL showed good antibacterial effect which is suggested to be used for treatment and management of different infectious diseases.
