Introduction: Loss of mandible molars often leads to the overeruption of the opposing maxillary molars, resulting in oclusal interference and inadequate room to restore the mandibular edentulous space. Objective: In this report, we present a treatment for superior molars intrusion with two mini-implants for orthodontic anchorage in conjuction with orthodontic appliances. After intrusion, two endosseous dental implants were done in space of 36 and 46, and the traditional orthodontic treatment was finished. Conclusion: Orthodontic anchorage using mini-implants showed good functional and aesthetic results.
The dental implants promoted important changes in the forms of rehabilitation of partially or fully edentulous patients. Edentulous patients show clear preference for implant-supported fixed prosthesis, mainly because they provide greater chewing efficiency and comfort, less repair and maintenance, in addition to promoting the psychological aspect, considering that eliminates the character removable of overdentures. Among the possible designs of the fixed prosthesis, the type protocols are the which have greater clinical application, and characterized by placing the jaw 4-6 implant in the anterior region between the foramina mentuals, and bilateral distal cantilevers to replace the posterior teeth. In the maxilla is recommended to put 6-8 implants. In this type of prosthesis is used a metal infrastructure and a resin base to attach it to the teeth of acrylic resin. The objective of this study was to report a case of protocol type full-arch fixed prosthesis bimaxillaries with employment of well-defined criteria for diagnosis and planning, and surgical and prosthetic techniques scientific evidence-based.
Introduction: Mandibular molar distalization is a very difficult procedure on conventional orthodontics. Objective: Report a case of lower molars distalization to correct a canine buccal position with orthodontic mini-implant. Conclusion: The orthodontic mini-implant was effectiveness in absolute anchorage for mandibular molars distal movement, and an esthetic result was possible with less collateral effects than conventional orthodontics.
RESUMO
The aim of the present study was to histologically analyze the effects of bovine and human demineralized bone matrix and a Ricinus communis polymer on the bone regeneration process. Two surgical bone defects were created in rabbit calvaria, one on the right and the other on the left side of the parietal suture. Eighteen rabbits were divided into three groups. In Group I, the experimental defect was treated with bovine demineralized bone matrix, Group II with human demineralized bone matrix, and in Group III, the experimental cavity was treated with polyurethane resin derived from Ricinus communis oil. The control defects were filled with the animals' own blood. The animals were sacrificed after 7 and 15 weeks. Histological analysis revealed that in all groups (control and experimental), bone regeneration increased with time. The least time required for bone regeneration was noted in the control group, with a substantial decrease in the thickness of the defect. All materials proved to be biologically compatible, but polyurethane resorbed more slowly and demonstrated considerably better results than the demineralized bone matrices.

Low-grade central osteosarcoma is a rare type of osteosarcoma with peculiar clinical radiographic and microscopic features. The aim of this article is to report and discuss a case of low-grade central osteosarcoma in the mandible of a 42-year-old woman. The patient reported sensing mild pain and tooth mobility for a period of 4 years, despite continuous dental treatment. Radiographic evaluation showed a mixed radiopaque/radiolucenct lesion in the body, ramus, coronoid process, and condyle of the left side of the mandible. Destruction of the mandibular cortex in the area was also observed. After incisional biopsy, the patient underwent hemimandibulectomy. Microscopic findings showed a tumor exhibiting spindle cells with nuclear hyperchromasia and no mitotic activity, irregular osteoid formation, and soft tissue infiltration. The immunohistochemical analysis of the expression of Ki-67, Cyclin B1, and PCNA proteins (cellular proliferation markers) revealed a very low Ki-67+ and Cyclin B1+ cell index (mean 7% and 3%, respectively), but a moderate number of PCNA+ cells (mean 49%). The 2 years of clinical and imaging postoperative follow-up showed no evidence of recurrence. Clinicians should be aware of these lesions, because histopathologicially low-grade central osteosarcoma may be misinterpreted as fibrous dysplasia.
