RESUMO
Luxation of the equine tarsus occur at any of the 4 joints: tarsocrural, proximal intertarsal, distal intertarsal, and tarsometatarsal joints. However, only a few case reports of equine tarsal luxations exist in the literature. Severe trauma usually is the cause of these injuries. This report have objective describe one case of proximal intertarsal joint luxation in a horse. A 14-year-old, Mangalarga Paulista stallion injured her left hindlimb during natural mating. There was instability of the limb at the proximal intertarsal joint. Radiography confirmed the luxation. The luxation was reduced, and a limb cast was applied. The stallion was confined to stall. Six weeks later, the cast was removed. At that time, the stallion was allowed exercise in a small paddock. Four months after injury, no lameness could be detected. A luxação do tarso equino pode ocorrer em qualquer uma de suas quatro articulações: articulação tarsocrural, intertársica proximal, intertársica distal e tarsometatársica. No entanto, existem poucos relatos da luxação társica em equinos na literatura. Geralmente, trauma grave à articulação é a causa das luxações. Este relato tem por objetivo descrever um caso de luxação da articulação intertársica proximal em um equino. Garanhão da raça Mangalarga Paulista de 14 anos de idade sofreu lesão no membro pélvico esquerdo durante monta natural, manifestada por instabilidade da articulação intertársica proximal. Exame radiográfico confirmou a luxação. A luxação foi reduzida manualmente, e o membro imobilizado com gesso sintético. O garanhão foi confinado a uma baia durante tratamento. Seis semanas após, o gesso foi removido. Exercício controlado e acesso a um piquete pequeno foram permitidos, e quatro meses após a lesão nenhuma claudicação foi identificada.
