RESUMO

We study the low-temperature out-of-equilibrium Monte Carlo dynamics of the disordered Ising p-spin Model with p=3 and a small number of spin variables. We focus on sequences of configurations that are stable against single spin flips obtained by instantaneous gradient descent from persistent ones. We analyze the statistics of energy gaps, energy barriers, and trapping times on subsequences such that the overlap between consecutive configurations does not overcome a threshold. We compare our results to the predictions of various trap models finding the best agreement with the step model when the p-spin configurations are constrained to be uncorrelated.

RESUMO

We study the evolution of spin clusters on two-dimensional slices of the three-dimensional Ising model in contact with a heat bath after a sudden quench to a subcritical temperature. We analyze the evolution of some simple initial configurations, such as a sphere and a torus, of one phase embedded into the other, to confirm that their area disappears linearly with time and to establish the temperature dependence of the prefactor in each case. Two generic kinds of initial states are later used: equilibrium configurations either at infinite temperature or at the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic phase transition. We investigate the morphological domain structure of the coarsening configurations on two-dimensional slices of the three-dimensional system, compared with the behavior of the bidimensional model.

RESUMO

We introduce a numerical method to integrate the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation in spherical coordinates for generic discretization schemes. This method conserves the magnetization modulus and ensures the approach to equilibrium under the expected conditions. We test the algorithm on a benchmark problem: the dynamics of a uniformly magnetized ellipsoid. We investigate the influence of various parameters, and in particular, we analyze the efficiency of the numerical integration, in terms of the number of steps needed to reach a chosen long time with a given accuracy.

RESUMO

We study the geometric properties of polymixtures after a sudden quench in temperature. We mimic these systems with the q -states Potts model on a square lattice with and without weak quenched disorder, and their evolution with Monte Carlo simulations with nonconserved order parameter. We analyze the distribution of hull-enclosed areas for different initial conditions and compare our results with recent exact and numerical findings for q=2 (Ising) case. Our results demonstrate the memory of the presence or absence of long-range correlations in the initial state during the coarsening regime and exhibit superuniversality properties.

RESUMO

We consider the statistics of the areas enclosed by domain boundaries ("hulls") during the curvature-driven coarsening dynamics of a two-dimensional nonconserved scalar field from a disordered initial state. We show that the number of hulls per unit area that enclose an area greater than A has, for large time t, the scaling form Nh(A,t)=2c/(A+lambdat), demonstrating the validity of dynamical scaling in this system, where c=1/8pisquare root 3 is a universal constant. Domain areas (regions of aligned spins) have a similar distribution up to very large values of A/lambdat. Identical forms are obtained for coarsening from a critical initial state, but with c replaced by c/2.

RESUMO

We study the relaxational dynamics of flux lines in high-temperature superconductors with random pinning using Langevin dynamics. At high temperatures the dynamics is stationary and the fluctuation dissipation theorem (FDT) holds. At low temperatures the system does not equilibrate with its thermal bath: a simple multiplicative aging is found, the FDT is violated, and we find that an effective temperature characterizes the slow modes of the system. The generic features of the evolution--scaling laws--are dictated by those of the single elastic line in a random environment.

RESUMO

We study numerically correlation and response functions in nonequilibrium driven vortex lattices with random pinning. From a generalized fluctuation-dissipation relation, we calculate an effective transverse temperature in the fluid moving phase. We find that the effective temperature decreases with increasing driving force and becomes equal to the equilibrium melting temperature when the dynamic transverse freezing occurs. We also discuss how the effective temperature can be measured experimentally from a generalized Kubo formula.
