RESUMO
A mordida aberta anterior é caracterizada como uma alteração da relação vertical entre o maxilar e o arco mandibular, apresentando um grande comprometimento estético-funcional. Muitas vezes, o hábito de sucção digital é o fator etiológico da mordida aberta anterior. Esse hábito deletério também pode provocar mordida cruzada posterior, estreitamento do arco maxilar, alterações na inclinação dos dentes anteriores e deformações na face. O objetivo deste trabalho é relatar um caso clínico de um paciente jovem com atresia dos maxilares e mordida aberta anterior associada ao hábito de sucção digital atípica. O paciente realizava a sucção simultânea dos dedos indicador e médio. O caso foi tratado com expansão da maxila, grade palatina fixa e aparelho ortodôntico autoligado, repercutindo positivamente no aspecto facial e na oclusão do paciente. (AU)
The anterior open bite is characterized as an alteration in the vertical relationship betweenmaxillar and mandibular arches, presenting a great aesthetic-functional impairment. Many times, digital sucking habit is the etiologic factor of the anterior open bite. This deleterious habit may also cause posterior crossbite, maxillary arch narrowing, changes in anterior tooth inclination and face deformities. The objective of this study is to report a clinical case of a young patient with jaws' atresia and anterior open bite associated to the habit of atypical digital suction. The patient performed simultaneous suction of the index and middle fingers. The case was treated with maxillary expansion, fixed palatine grille and self-ligating orthodontic appliance, affecting positively the patient`s facial appearance. and the occlusion. (AU)

Este trabalho teve por objetivos analisar a opinião de alunos sobre as metodologias de ensino aplicadas em aulas práticas de anatomia humana e abordar questões bioéticas envolvidas na utilização dos cadáveres. Este estudo foi realizado mediante aplicação de questionário a 542 alunos dos cursos do Centro de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco que cursavam a disciplina de anatomia humana em 2011. Os dados obtidos revelaram que 88,9% dos entrevistados consideraram indispensável o uso de cadáver humano nas aulas práticas e que 98,3% empregam materiais didáticos auxiliares. Quanto às questões bioéticas, 80,7% afirmaram ter recebido informação sobre o respeito ao manipular um cadáver. Observou-se que o uso de cadáveres humanos foi considerado indispensável ao processo de ensino-aprendizagem no estudo da anatomia humana e que a relação em seu manuseio se reflete na conduta do futuro profissional com os pacientes, fortalecendo a humanização dos profissionais de saúde.
This study aimed to analyze the opinion of students about the teaching methodologies applied in their practical classes of human anatomy, as well as to approach bioethical issues involved in the use of cadavers. This study was conducted through a questionnaire applied to 542 students of courses at the Health Sciences Center, Federal University in Pernambuco, who were attending the course of human anatomy in 2011. The data obtained showed that the use of human cadaver in practical classes was considered essential by 88.9% of surveyed, and 98.3% use some auxiliary teaching material. As for the bioethical issues, 80.7% said they had received information regarding the handling a corpse. Thus we see that the use of human corpses was considered essential to the process of teaching and learning in the study of human anatomy, and that the handling of cadavers reflect in the conduct of the future professional with their patients, strengthening the humanization of health professionals.
