RESUMO
Se realizó un estudio transversal en la sala de infeccioso del hospital V I Lenin de Holguín, se escogió como universo a 28 pacientes con neurotoxoplasmosis y diagnóstico confirmado de VIH/SIDA, en el período de enero a diciembre de 2007, con el objetivo de caracterizar su comportamiento clínico. Predominó el grupo de 25 - 34 años que eran reclusos hombres, la principal enfermedad asociada fue la bronconeumonía bacteriana, tenían un tiempo de evolución entre seis y diez años. A cross-sectional study at infectious ward at V I Lenin Hospital, Holguin was carried out. The universe was conformed by 28 patients with neurotoxoplasmosis and confirmed HIV/AIDS diagnosis, the objective of this work was to characterize the disease clinical behaviour from January to December, 2007. The age group was between 25-34 years, male sex. 28, 6 percent of the patients were recluses; the principal associated disease was bronchopneumonia, with a time of evolution between 6 and 10 years. A high percentage of them did not take antiretroviral treatment and 2 patients died. The majority of them had low CD4 count; they were classified as AIDS case in terminal stage, with severe opportunistic affections, without antiretroviral therapy, and died few patients.
