OBJECTIVES: The aim of this work was to create a video-based compilation of acute pain behaviours in cats as an open-access online resource for training of veterinary health professionals. METHODS: A database comprising 60 h of video recordings of cats was used. Videos were previously recorded after ethical approval and written client consent forms, and involved cats with different types (eg, medical, surgical, trauma, orofacial) and degrees (eg, from no pain to severe pain) of acute pain, before and after surgery or the administration of analgesia. The database included videos of cats of different coat colours, ages, sex and breeds. Video selection was based on a published ethogram of acute pain behaviours in cats. Videos were selected by one observer (SM) according to their definition and quality, followed by a second round of screening by two observers (SM and PVS). Video editing included a standardised template (ie, watermark and titles). RESULTS: A total of 24 videos (mean length 33 ± 17 s) with each acute pain-related behaviour described in the ethogram were uploaded to an open-access online video-sharing platform (http://www.youtube.com/@Steagalllaboratory) with an individual hyperlink. Videos were provided with a short description of the behaviour for the public. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: This video-based compilation may promote better training of veterinary health professionals on acute pain assessment while improving feline health and welfare and the understanding of cat behaviours.

RESUMEN

This study assesses the acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, and efficacy of a novel asynchronous video-based intervention for teaching respiratory physiology and anatomy to medical students in resource-limited settings. A series of short video lectures on pleural anatomy, pulmonary physiology, and pathophysiology was created using Lightboard and screen capture technology. These were uploaded to YouTube and Google Drive and made available to 1st-3rd year medical students at two Latin American universities for 1 week. Employing a parallel-convergent mixed methods design, we conducted surveys, focus groups, interviews, and pre/post testing for qualitative and quantitative data. Thematic Analysis was used to analyze qualitative data and McNemar's test for quantitative analysis. Seventy-six students participated. The videos' short format, interactivity, and Lightboard style were highly valued for their flexibility, time efficiency, and educational impact. Students recognized their clinical relevance and trusted their content, suggesting potential applicability in similar settings. Despite infrastructure and connectivity challenges, the use of flexible streaming and downloadable options facilitated learning. Survey results indicated high levels of feasibility (99%), appropriateness (95%), and acceptability (95%), with significant knowledge gains observed (37% correct pre-test answers vs. 56% post-test, p < 0.0001). Our findings demonstrate high acceptability, appropriateness, feasibility, and efficacy of a targeted asynchronous education centered on short-format videos in resource-limited settings, enabling robust learning despite local barriers. Flexible access is key for overcoming localized barriers. Taking an adaptive, learner-centered approach to content creation and delivery to address constraints was pivotal to success. Our modular videos could serve as versatile models for flexible education in resource-constrained settings.

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the instructional efficacy of a 3D Surgical Training System (3DSTS), which combines real surgical footage with high-definition 3D animations, against conventional surgical videos and textbooks in the context of orthopedic proximal humerus fracture surgeries. DESIGN: Before the experiment, 89 participants completed a pre-educational knowledge assessment. They were then randomized into 3 groups: the 3DSTS group (n = 30), the surgical video (SV) group (n = 29), and the textbook group (n = 30). After their respective teaching courses, all participants took a posteducational assessment and completed a perceived cognitive load test. The 3DSTS group also filled out a satisfaction survey. Once all assessments were finished, the SV and textbook groups were introduced to the 3DSTS course and subsequently completed a satisfaction survey. All statistical analyses were executed using IBM SPSS version 24 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY). For data fitting normal distribution, we employed one-way analysis of variance (one-way ANOVA) and Tukey HSD tests, whereas, for non-normally distributed data, we used Kruskal-Wallis H tests and Dunn's tests. The significance level for all tests was set at p < 0.05. SETTING: Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, Hubei Province, P. R. China. PARTICIPANTS: About 89 doctors who undergoing standardized residents training. RESULT: The initial assessment scores among the three groups were comparable, showing no significant statistical difference. Post-education revealed a marked difference in the scores, with the 3DSTS group outperforming both the SV and textbook groups. Specifically, the 3DSTS group exhibited statistically greater improvement in areas such as procedural steps, and specialized surgical techniques compared to the SV and textbook groups. During the 3DSTS teaching process, participants reported the least perceived cognitive load and expressed strong satisfaction, highlighting that the instructional materials are well-prepared, and considering this teaching method superior and more innovative than previous courses they had encountered. CONCLUSION: The 3D Surgical Training System, integrating real videos with 3D animations, significantly enhances orthopedic surgery education over conventional methods, providing improved comprehension, lower cognitive load, and standardized learning outcomes. Its efficacy and high participant satisfaction underscore its potential for broader adoption in surgical disciplines. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials. gov ID: ChiCTR2300074730.

This study explores the effectiveness of asynchronous video material as a supplementary educational tool for trainees in hematopathology. Traditional pedagogical methods often rely heavily on faculty involvement, potentially limiting the breadth of information trainees receive due to constraints in faculty time and the variety of cases covered in a limited time interval/rotation. Asynchronous video-based learning presents a potential solution to these challenges. This concept has been utilized effectively in various fields of medical education. In this study, we describe our implementation of an educational program utilizing asynchronous video material to supplement traditional learning methods for peripheral blood smear interpretation for learners on a hematopathology clerkship. Following a pre-test/post-test assessment with 13 trainees, we analyzed the correlation between video viewing percentage and changes in test scores. The results indicate an improvement in test scores following exposure to video content, supporting the positive impact of asynchronous video material on hematopathology education. Trainees had positive feedback regarding this new educational tool. This study suggests that such self-directed learning could enhance traditional teaching methods, ensuring broader and more consistent coverage of hematopathology concepts.

AIM OF THE STUDY: Arthroscopy ranks among the frequently performed interventions in orthopedics. The aim of this study was to compare the palpation technique with the ultrasound technique for locating the dorsal glenohumeral joint space (JS) in shoulder joint punctures. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Participants inexperienced in ultrasound examinations were included. Palpatory and ultrasound finding of the joint space by the participants was performed according to current recommendations and was initially demonstrated by an instructional video. The ideal point (IP) was marked under ultrasound visualization by an experienced ultrasound examinator and shoulder-elbow surgeon. Furthermore, a corridor for a safe puncture was defined. The palpatorily determined point (pdP) was marked by the participants and evaluated by means of a coordinate system. The evaluation of the sonographically determined point (sdP) was performed similarly to that of the palpatory procedure. RESULTS: Fifty-four participants were included in the study, and the mean length of work experience was 6.3 years. On average, participants had performed 16.5 punctures of the shoulder joint and 6.8 arthroscopies of the shoulder joint. The mean experience in performing sonographic examinations of the shoulder was 27.6 examinations. A total of 100 shoulder joints were examined (54 left, 46 right shoulders). The mean deviation from the ideal point (IP) for the palpatory approach was 17.1 mm with a maximum deviation of 59.5 mm; for the sonographic technique, the mean deviation was 10.3 mm (max. 30.2 mm). Overall, 22% of pdPs were within the defined corridor, while 42% of sdPs were within the target corridor. The average difference between palpatory and sonographic approaches was 9.0 mm in favor of the sonographic technique (max. 46.5 mm). A significantly greater deviation (p < 0.001) from the IP was observed with the palpatory approach than with the sonographic approach. CONCLUSION: Based on the results, the authors recommend ultrasound imaging of the shoulder joint as well as ultrasound-assisted punctures, especially for inexperienced users. Furthermore, training in ultrasound-assisted interventions should be implemented in future training curricula.

Objective This study aimed to systematically review and assess educational YouTube videos on neurological examination. Methods YouTube was screened for educational videos on neurological examination. A scoring system (involving five major and six minor criteria) was used to assess videos. Educationally useful videos were defined as those satisfying all major criteria and at least three minor criteria; 2 points were allocated for each major criterion and 1 point for each minor criterion, thereby using a score of 13 as a threshold. Results A total of 500 videos were screened, and 128 videos were included in the final selection procedure. Only 55 videos were deemed as educationally useful; 13 of these videos focused on the general neurological examination, 10 on cranial nerves, 11 on the upper limb, five on the lower limb, three on reflexes, one on upper and lower limbs, one on gait, and 11 were in the form of lectures. Six (46.15%) of the educationally useful videos about general neurological exams, including the top three videos, were created by academic institutions, and three (23.07%) were book-related. Educationally useful videos were not the most viewed videos. None of the analyzed videos included the evaluation of the autonomic nervous system in the physical examination routine. Conclusions YouTube is an increasingly common source of educational videos for medical students. However, videos found on YouTube are not peer-reviewed and may be inaccurate, and the preponderance of videos available on the platform makes it difficult for students and educators to find good educational material. We provide a list of URLs of educationally useful videos for students and educators in neurology and offer suggestions for the creation of high-quality educational videos.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES: Due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, undergraduate education shifted towards online-only formats from April 2020 until July 2021. Previous research indicated a negative effect on students' competence development, and it remains unclear whether blended learning concepts could provide compensation. Therefore, the present study aimed to compare pre- to post-pandemic students' performance in standardized baseline (BL) and final exams (FE), as well as the associated knowledge gain (KG) in three consecutive undergraduate blended learning-based oral radiology courses (C1-3). METHODS: Ninety-four students participated during two pre-pandemic semesters (October 17-July 18), and ninety-eight students during two post-pandemic semesters (October 21-July 22). Before the pandemic, conventional face-to-face lectures were combined with an oral radiology platform. Two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, additional video-based e-learning modules were adopted from the pandemic online-only curriculum. In each semester, skills and KG were assessed by conducting standardized BL and FE. Students' performance in BL, FE, and the associated KG during pre-pandemic semesters was compared to post-pandemic semesters. RESULTS: In post-pandemic courses, students showed significantly lower BL scores, whereas KG was significantly higher in post- compared to pre-pandemic semesters (27.42% vs. 10.64%, p < 0.001, respectively). FE scores in C1 significantly improved from pre- to post-pandemic semesters. CONCLUSIONS: Within the limitations of our study, the lower BL scores confirmed the negative effect of the pandemic on competence development. Blended learning concepts seem to compensate for this effect and enable students to return to pre-pandemic levels. Future studies are needed to assess the additional impact of video-based e-learning modules.

Videos are an increasingly popular medium for supporting learning in various educational settings. Nowadays, newly designed video-based environments contain enhanced tools that allow for specific interactions with video materials (such as adding annotations and hyperlinks) which may well support generative learning and conceptual understanding. However, to exploit the potentials of such enhanced tools, we need to gain a deeper understanding on the learning processes and outcomes that go along with using these tools. Thus, we conducted a controlled laboratory experiment with 209 participants who were engaged in learning a complex topic by using different enhanced video tools (annotations vs. hyperlinks vs. control group) in different social learning settings (individual vs. collaborative learning in dyads). Findings revealed that participants who learned with hyperlinks and participants in collaborative settings created hypervideo products of higher quality than learners in other conditions. Participants who learned with annotations assessed their knowledge gain higher and had higher results in conceptual understanding when they experienced low cognitive load. With our study we contribute new original work to advance cognitive research on learning with enhanced video learning environments. Limitations and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Background Because of university closures due to COVID-19 confinement, video-based simulation, a training technique based on high-fidelity simulations, was introduced in reaction to the need to adapt high-fidelity clinical simulation experiences to digital platforms. Purpose This study aims to evaluate the perceptions of nursing students in Saudi Arabia regarding the shift from face-to-face simulation experiences to video-based simulation during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods This study employed a phenomenological exploratory qualitative research design among 32 nursing students from various academic levels. Results The thematic analysis gave rise to five themes namely, "Enhanced Learning and satisfaction", "Improved communication skills", "Lack of hands-on experience", "More comfortable experience", and "Technical Barriers". Conclusion The students in this study have indicated that they were satisfied with video-based simulation, where they reported enhanced learning, better communication skills, and more perceived comfort, while concerns regarding technical issues and nursing skills were raised.

Purpose This article assesses the efficacy of an instructional video and model eye simulation for teaching slit lamp exam to medical students as compared to traditional preceptor teaching. Methods First through 4th year students from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine were recruited via email to participate in the study. Students were randomized into two groups. The experimental "model eye" group watched an instructional video on slit lamp exam, spent 10 minutes practicing on the model eye, then practiced for 25 minutes with a student partner. The control "preceptor teaching" group received 25 minutes of in-person preceptor teaching on slit lamp exam, then spent 25 minutes practicing with a student partner. Students were objectively assessed by a blinded grader who scored their examination skills with a 31-item checklist. Qualtrics surveys that measured student perceptions were distributed before and after the intervention. Results Seventeen medical students participated in the study. Students in the model eye group achieved higher mean objective assessment scores than students in the preceptor teaching group on skills relating to slit lamp set up (1.75, standard deviation [SD] = 0.50 and 1.50, SD = 0.80 out of 2 points, p = 0.03) and on the total score (1.69, SD = 0.6 and 1.48, SD = 0.8 out of 2 points, p < 0.01). Both groups reported a significant increase in their understanding of what a slit lamp is used for ( p < 0.01) and in their confidence using a slit lamp ( p < 0.01). All students felt their skills improved with the workshop, 94% found the workshop to be useful, and 88% enjoyed the workshop, with no intergroup differences on these metrics. Conclusion An instructional video combined with a simulation model is as effective as traditional preceptor teaching of the slit lamp exam. Such a teaching module may be considered as an adjunct to traditional methods.

Motivational and emotional characteristics influence teachers' reflections on video clips from their own teaching. However, utility values and the role of emotional cost have not been considered yet in video-based research in teacher education. In the present study, 102 student teachers were randomly assigned to an intervention group (IG) with video-based documentation of a lesson and systematic writing assignment or to a control group (CG) with protocol-based documentation of a lesson and writing assignment. Multigroup latent change score analysis indicated that IG participants, on average, showed a 0.52 SDs higher increase in utility values than the CG three months after the teaching practicum. Emotional cost was negatively related to baseline utility-value scores but predicted latent change scores positively after the writing assignment. The study adds to the current repertoire of video-based learning opportunities by providing a systematic writing assignment targeting student teachers' interpretation of experiences to leverage motivation.

BACKGROUND: While learning and practicing on actual patients is a major mode of teaching clinical skills, concerns about patient safety, unavailability, and lack of standardization have led to the development of simulation for medical education. Simulation-based teaching is affected by challenges such as lack of protected time for faculty, inexperienced learners, and the number of students per group. These have led to the integration of various eLearning formats in the curriculum. The hybridized format changes the traditional clinical skills teaching into the flipped classroom. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of hybridizing video-based learning with simulation for flipping the clinical skills teaching of fourth-year medical students at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Aga Khan University, Pakistan. METHODS: The study employed a mixed-methods design. Fourth-year medical students of the batch 2020-21 (n = 100) consented to participate in the study. The quantitative component focuses on identifying the effect of the intervention on the perceived self-efficacy of medical students (batch 2020-21) relevant to the clinical skill. Along with this, the performance of the intervention batch of 2020-21 on the end of clerkship objective structured clinical exam (OSCE) was compared with the previous batch of 2019-20, taught using simulation alone. Focused group discussions (FGDs) were used to explore the experiences of medical students (batch 2020-21) about the intervention. Quantitative data underwent descriptive and inferential analysis using Stata v16 while qualitative data underwent content analysis using NVivo software. RESULTS: Hybridization of video-based learning with simulation significantly improved self-efficacy scores for all examinations (cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, and abdomen) with p-value < 0.05. OSCE scores of the intervention group were significantly higher on the neurological and abdominal stations as compared to the previous batch (p-value < 0.05). In addition, the overall structure of the intervention was appreciated by all the students, who stated it allowed reinforcement of basic concepts, retention, and further insight into clinical applications. CONCLUSION: The hybridization of video-based learning with simulation facilitated in creation of better opportunities for medical students to revive their prior knowledge, apply core concepts for the problem and engage in clinical reasoning.

Critical thinking is identified as a key educational outcome in higher education curricula; however, it is not trivial to support students in building this multifaceted skill. In this study, we evaluated a brief online learning intervention focusing on informal fallacy identification, a hallmark critical-thinking skill. The intervention used a bite-sized video learning approach, which has been shown to promote student engagement. Video-based learning was implemented within a precision teaching (PT) framework, which modulates the exposure of individual learners to the learning material to enable them to build 'fluency' in the targeted skills. In one of the learning conditions, PT was applied synergistically with domain-general problem-based training to support generalisation. The intervention consisted of two learning episodes and was administered to three groups (learning conditions) of 19 participants each: a PT fluency-based training group; a PT + group, where PT was combined with problem-based training; and a self-directed learning control group. All three groups showed comparable improvements in fallacy identification on taught (post-episode tests) and unseen materials (post-intervention assessment), with lower-scoring participants showing higher gains than high-scoring participants. The results of the knowledge retention tests a week later were also comparable between groups. Importantly, in the domain-general fallacy-identification assessment (post-intervention), the two PT groups showed higher improvements than the control group. These findings suggest that the integration of bite-sized video learning technologies with PT can improve students' critical-thinking skills. Furthermore, PT, on its own or combined with problem-based training, can improve their skill to generalise learning to novel contexts. We discuss the educational implications of our findings.

In asynchronous online video-based learning, learners experience various affective states, which may make them disengaged and negatively influence learning outcomes. This study aimed to examine the effect of the utility value (UV) intervention to help learners emotionally and behaviorally engage in online learning. The UV intervention includes pre-learning writing activity and UV feedback messages to help learners perceive the relevance between the lecture topic and their lives. In particular, we examined the effects of the UV intervention on learners' negative emotions (i.e., confusion, frustration, and boredom) and conceptual understanding. For the experiment, 30 Korean adult learners were randomly assigned to the control, feedback-only, and writing-feedback groups. The control group did not receive any UV intervention strategy. The feedback-only group received UV feedback messages when detected to experience negative emotions during learning. The writing-feedback group performed a pre-learning activity to write about the usefulness of the lecture topic and then received UV feedback messages during learning. We used Ekman's Facial Action Coding System (FACS) to analyze learners' facial expressions associated with negative emotions. Pre-test and post-test were administered to measure conceptual understanding. The findings revealed that the UV feedback messages significantly reduced the occurrence of boredom while the UV writing did not significantly improve conceptual understanding. Overall, this study suggests that additional strategies and longer timing in UV interventions are necessary to intervene in online learners' confusion and frustration. Implications are discussed regarding the design of affective feedback mechanisms in online video-based learning environments.

Purpose The purpose of the study is to determine if instructional videos detailing the use of smartphone accessibility features may be used to improve quality of life and comfort with phone usage among patients with severe glaucoma. Design The design of the present study is an interventional case series. Methods The patients with vision loss due to severe glaucoma were recruited from one institution. Two surveys were completed to provide baseline data: one detailed their current use of smartphone accessibility features, and the other provided survey was the EuroQol 5 Dimension 5 Level (EQ-5D-5L) (EuroQol Group, Rotterdam, Netherlands), which is used to assess the quality of life. Then, the patients were shown a brief video with instructions on configuring the use of voice-over, magnification, and zoom functions, along with other features. To conclude, the patients completed the same surveys either at follow-up visits or by phone calls. Results Fifteen patients were recruited to participate in the study. At baseline, the participants used a median of one accessibility feature, with the most common feature being "text sizing/bolding." At follow-up, the participants averaged the gain of use of one accessibility feature and reported a decrease in text messaging visual limitation, although these findings did not reach statistical significance. Overall, the quality of life, as measured by the EQ-5D-5L, demonstrated a non-statistically significant increase of six points. Conclusions Despite the lack of statistical significance, our results indicate that providing instructional videos may benefit the patients' ability to navigate on their smartphones. Incorporating links or Quick Response (QR) codes to these instructional videos provides an opportunity to improve the quality of life at no additional risk to the patient. Further studies are needed with an increased population to investigate for any significance of our findings.

Videos are arguably the most important and frequently used instructional resource in massive open online courses (MOOCs). Recent research has explored learners' perceptions and preferences regarding MOOC instructional videos. However, these studies are often limited to a small number of specific courses, and few grounded theory studies have been undertaken to investigate this topic. In the present study, a multiple-coder research methodology was adopted to analyze 4534 learner reviews of MOOCs in 14 categories. The study aimed to identify key characteristics associated with learners' favorable perceptions of MOOC videos, types of supplemental or in-video resources learners perceive helpful to support MOOC video use, and video production features learners value. Results revealed that (a) "organized", "detailed", "comprehensible", "interesting", and "practical" were the top five important characteristics associated with learners' favorable perceptions of MOOC videos; (b) learners perceived "presentation slides", "reading materials", "post-video assessments", "embedded questions", and "case studies" as helpful resources to support their utilization of MOOC videos; and (c) learners found "duration" a more salient production feature than "editing", "resolution", "subtitles", "music", or "voice". The findings present implications for MOOC video design and foundations for future research avenues.

Background: Online education has experienced explosive growth, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. We explored the current state of the evidence base for online education targeted towards healthcare professionals working in pediatric intensive care units (PICUs), to report how we are using online education in our field. Materials and Methods: We performed a literature review by systematically generating a list of publications indexed in PubMed describing online educational interventions in the PICU, using Medical Subject Header (MeSH)-based search terms and the following inclusion criteria: studies published after 2005 that describe online educational interventions aimed at healthcare professional working in the PICU. We reviewed the full text of all included articles, and summarized the study aims, design, and results. Results: Our initial search yielded 1,071 unique articles. After screening abstracts and titles, then full texts, eight articles were included in the review. Many online learning modalities are represented, including websites, self-study modules, videos, videoconferencing, online self-assessment with feedback, virtual patient cases, screen-based simulation, and podcasts. Three studies focused on residents, two studies on nurses, two studies on a multidisciplinary team, and one study on transport nurses and paramedics. Most studies utilized participant surveys to assess satisfaction, and half included pre- and post-intervention multiple-choice question tests. Only one study included a patient-related outcome measure. Conclusions: Despite growth in online medical educational intervention research, there are relatively few published studies in pediatric critical care, and only one study evaluated the impact of online learning on patient outcomes. There remain significant opportunities for PICU educators to assess the impact of online educational interventions, especially related to clinician behaviors and patient outcomes.

OBJECTIVES: Mastery of lung isolation is crucial for optimal cardiothoracic anesthesia education. The authors tested the hypothesis that simulation- is more effective than didactic video-based learning (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor) to teach anesthesiology fellows advanced lung isolation techniques. DESIGN: A prospective randomized study. SETTING: At a single academic heart center, simulation laboratory. PARTICIPANTS: Thirty anesthesiology fellows with equivalent prior experience in basic lung isolation techniques. INTERVENTIONS: Randomized participants received 1 of 2 structured educational interventions of equivalent duration designed to teach advanced lung isolation skills, a simulation workshop, or a video-based didactic session. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS: To assess Bloom's taxonomy domains, performance measurements included pre- and postintervention cognitive tests and affective surveys and a postintervention psychomotor task (time to complete lung isolation). Changes in test and survey scores and time to completion were compared using the Mann-Whitney U test; p values < 0.05 were considered significant. Improvements in lung isolation learning assessments were greater in the simulation group, but significant differences only existed in the affective domain. Specifically, affective survey score increases were greater in the simulation group (simulation- versus video-based didactic: +19.0 v +4.0; p ≤ 0.001), whereas there was no significant difference in cognitive pre- to posttest scores (simulation- versus video-based: +28.6 v +19.1, p = 0.23), and time to achieve lung isolation (simulation- versus video-based: 32 v 36 seconds, p = 0.46). CONCLUSIONS: Although greater affective learning of advanced lung isolation skills occurred with simulation-based compared to didactic video-based education, the authors found no differences between the teaching approaches in cognitive and psychomotor learning among anesthesiology fellows.

A new distance learning Master of Science (MSc) degree in Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law was established in 2016 within the Centre for Animal Welfare at the University of Winchester, UK. Our program recruited students worldwide, with enrollments increasing dramatically since its inception in 2016. However, despite rapid growth, our MSc has had only one full-time equivalent faculty member. With further projected sharp increases in student numbers, significant programmatic change was required for the MSc to remain viable. After consultation with our students and program team, we decided to transition to a flipped classroom teaching model. Piloting a screencast-based flipped classroom in one course, our objectives were to provide a more enriched, engaging, and effective student learning experience and to increase student satisfaction while concurrently saving staff time in future years. We aimed to provide a series of enriched screencast videos of short (∼20-minute) durations, with contents clearly signposted. The new teaching model was well received. Within our 2021 program survey, 100% of respondents expressed a wish to see our screencast-based flipped classroom approach continued, and 71%-86% wished to see it implemented in various additional courses. This model has greatly enriched students' learning experiences, increasing student engagement and satisfaction while also freeing staff time to engage in discussion fora and additional live sessions. Learning and achievement outcomes also appear positive. We plan to steadily integrate this model across additional courses, although initial time investment will be significant. Hence, this new model will be implemented over several semesters.
