RESUMEN

The current recommendation system predominantly relies on evidential factors such as behavioral outcomes and purchasing history. However, limited research has been conducted to explore the use of psychological data in these algorithms, such as consumers' self-perceived identities. Based on the gap identified and the soaring significance of levering the non-purchasing data, this study presents a methodology to quantify consumers' self-identities to help examine the relationship between these psychological cues and decision-making in an e-commerce context, focusing on the projective self, which has been overlooked in previous research. This research is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the cause of inconsistency in similar studies and provide a basis for further exploration of the impact of self-concepts on consumer behavior. The coding method in grounded theory, in conjunction with the synthesis of literature analysis, was employed to generate the final approach and solution in this study as they provide a robust and rigorous basis for the findings and recommendations presented in this study.

RESUMEN

Vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) is supported in systematic reviews (Wu et al., 2019) and national guidelines (RCOG, 2015) and women are expected to be involved in the decision-making process for either a repeat caesarean birth or planned VBAC. AIM: To develop a Grounded Theory (GT) of women's decision making of their birth choices in pregnancy following a previous caesarean birth (CB) OBJECTIVE: To explore what determines women's birth choice and their decision making for birth following a previous CB. DESIGN: Semi structured interviews with pregnant women were undertaken in order to develop a Glasserian Grounded Theory SETTING: Antenatal clinics and wards in a large tertiary level maternity hospital. FINDINGS: The theory of 'Mentalizing Possibilities' is a substantive theory which explains pregnant women's decision making about their birth choices after a previous CB. Women's main concern is to achieve a positive experience. The core category of 'Mentalizing Possibilities' explains how women process their previous experience, adapt to uncertainty and deal with the decisional conflict. There are behavioural and cognitive strategies which women use to go through this process. CONCLUSION: Women want a positive birth experience after a previous CB and require support and continuity in decision making to help them decide the optimal birth choice for their current pregnancy.

RESUMEN

A project manager's emotional intelligence (EI) is essential to project success. However, the mechanism in this cause and effect remains a black box in extant literature. China is now the world's largest construction market, and figuring out the mechanism of construction project manager's (CPM's) EI on project success is meaningful for developing the global construction market. This study conducted an in-depth interview with 24 CPMs with more than 5-year experience in construction project management. The grounded theory was employed to profile the application of CPM's EI and to build the multilevel mechanism that explains the influence of CPM's EI on project success. The mechanism framework conforms to the existed input-process-output (IPO) theory. It consists of a team-level mechanism (including the positive team atmosphere, shared vision, and team cohesion) and an individual-level mechanism (i.e., organizational citizenship behavior directed at the organization, perceived supervisor support, trust in leader, and subordinate's psychological and emotional health). This study further proposed that the effect of this mechanism does not work immediately but develops with time passing. Implications for further research and project management practice are discussed in the end.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: The current study aimed to describe the implementation of a structured psychoeducational intervention in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), identifying the needs of both patients and their caregivers. METHODS: Five patients and thirteen caregivers attended eight psychoeducational group meetings at the Respiratory Rehabilitation Unit of IRCCS Santa Maria Nascente of Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi, Milan (Italy) and eight participants underwent semi-structured interviews once the group sessions ended. Group sessions and semi-structured interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Then, data obtained by group meetings' transcripts have been analysed using the grounded theory (GT) paradigm, while those obtained by interviews have been analysed using the interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). RESULTS: The analysis of the meetings allowed us to identify seven main themes: "practical advice", "explanation of the pathology", "recognition of emotions", "adaptation", "family and relationships", "being caregiver of oneself", and "sharing". Twenty-one sub-themes also emerged from the transcripts' analysis. The analysis of the interviews allowed us to deduce the main reasons to participate (i.e., to have information and to be able to share experiences), the positive and negative aspects of the experiences. These results suggested the usefulness of psychoeducational groups in the regular clinical practise to allow patients and caregivers to share advice, emotions, and experiences with others in the same situation. CONCLUSIONS: This study displays the utility of psychoeducational group intervention in supporting people with ALS and their caregivers because of two main reasons: first for the psychoeducation provided by professionals; second for the possibility of sharing experiences and emotions with people in the same situation.

RESUMEN

Covid-19 pandemic has changed availability of reasonable jobs. To avoid joblessness, many young adults selected military service in Hungary. The aim of this research was to study their motivation, their individual needs and the way they think about the military forces. In this study, half-structured, focus group interviews with standard questions have been qualitatively analyzed by applying the Grounded Theory (GT) method. Three levels of coding were applied: open (basic), axial and selective coding. This process resulted in fewer codes representing larger categories leading to a final concentrated overview of the interviews. Three selective codes (Enrollment, Pathfinding, Fulfillment), and many sub-codes were identified. We could establish that the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic for the military career-choice really can be detected in many individuals. The military force offers for them safe, predictable existence and career image, in which, in addition to continuous learning and development, teamwork and camaraderie provides major motivations.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: While emergency department nurses in Indonesia are critical to quality care, the role lacks recognition and standard practices and regulation of scope of practice are absent. This research explored the role of nurses in Indonesian EDs. METHOD: The conceptual lens applied in the research was grounded theory. The main data source was 51 semi- structured interviews with 43 ED nurses, three directors of nursing, three nurse leaders and two nurse educators. Data were also generated through observations and memos. RESULTS: Two key categories were constructed; shifting work boundaries and lack of authority. Shifting work boundaries was symbolic of a lack of professional authority and legitimized knowledge. Lack of authority reflected the dimension of professional autonomy through the nexus of power and knowledge. The interrelationship of these two concepts constructed a core category, securing legitimate power, which underpinned the positioning of nursing in Indonesia. CONCLUSIONS: The interconnection between political gains, tertiary knowledge, professional regulation and implementation of gender-sensitive policies was critical to the development of the ED role, the positioning of nursing within the health care system and improvement in quality of care.
