RESUMEN
In a context where different protocols for recommended practices in clinical voice assessment exist, while there are gaps in the literature regarding the evidence base supporting assessment procedures and measures, clinicians from regions where a strong community holding expertise in clinical and scientific voice practices lack can struggle to confidently develop their voice assessment practices. In an effort to improve voice assessment practices and strengthen professional identity among speech-language pathologists in Quebec, Canada, a community of practice (CoP) was established, with the aim of promoting knowledge sharing, implementing change in clinical practice, and improving professional identity. Thirty-nine participants took part in the CoP activities conducted over a four-month period, including virtual meetings and in-person workshops. Participants had a high rate of attendance (> 74% participation rate in virtual meetings), and were highly satisfied with their participation and intended to remain involved after the project's end. Statistically significant changes in voice assessment practices were observed post-CoP, regarding probability of performing assessments (p < .001), and perceived importance of assessment for evaluative purposes (p <.001), as well as improvements in assessment specific confidence, specifically for procedure of auditory-perceptual assessment (p < .001) and purpose of aerodynamic assessment (p = .05). Moreover, there was an increase in professional identity post-CoP (p < .001) and participants felt they made significant learnings. The present study highlighted the need to involve SLPs in future research to identify assessments that are relevant to the specific evaluative objectives of SLPs working with voice, and suggests CoPs are an efficient tool for that purpose.
En un contexto en el que existen diferentes protocolos para las prácticas recomendadas en la evaluación vocal clínica, y en el que se presentan vacíos en la literatura respecto a la base de evidencia que respalda los procedimientos y medidas de evaluación, los profesionales de regiones donde no hay una comunidad sólida con experiencia en prácticas vocales clínicas y científicas pueden enfrentar dificultades para desarrollar con confianza sus prácticas de evaluación vocal. Con el propósito de mejorar las prácticas de evaluación vocal y fortalecer la identidad profesional entre los logopedas de Quebec, Canadá, se estableció una comunidad de práctica (CdP). Esta tenía como objetivo fomentar el intercambio de conocimientos, implementar cambios en la práctica clínica y mejorar la identidad profesional. Un total de treinta y nueve participantes se involucraron en las actividades de la CdP, llevadas a cabo durante un período de cuatro meses, que incluyeron reuniones virtuales y talleres presenciales. Los participantes tuvieron una alta tasa de asistencia (> 74% de participación en las reuniones virtuales) y expresaron un alto grado de satisfacción con su participación, manifestando su intención de continuar involucrados después de la finalización del proyecto. Se observaron cambios estadísticamente significativos en las prácticas de evaluación vocal posterior a la CdP, en lo que respecta a la probabilidad de llevar a cabo evaluaciones (p < .001) y la percepción de la importancia de la evaluación con fines evaluativos (p < .001), así como mejoras en la confianza específica en la evaluación, particularmente en el procedimiento de evaluación auditivo-perceptual (p < .001) y el propósito de la evaluación aerodinámica (p = .05). Además, se registró un aumento en la identidad profesional posterior a la CdP (p < .001) y los participantes sintieron que obtuvieron aprendizajes significativos. El presente estudio destacó la necesidad de involucrar a los logopedas en investigaciones futuras, para identificar evaluaciones pertinentes a los objetivos evaluativos específicos de los logopedas que trabajan con la voz, y sugiere que las CdP son una herramienta eficiente con ese propósito.

BACKGROUND/AIM: The International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT) is considered the foremost authority in Dental Traumatology. Fellowship status was introduced in 2015 and is considered an international standard of excellence. The Fellowship Committee of the IADT believed it was essential to survey members seeking information on the benefits of the IADT Fellowship and potential considerations for future development. This survey aimed to explore the perceptions of members of IADT surrounding the fellowship process in terms of interest, accessibility, equality, perceived prestige, and value to the membership. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The survey was sent to 546 IADT members, of whom 89 were fellows (as of 31 July 2022) from 74 countries via an email invitation. Answers were analysed using the Chi2 and Fisher's exact test (p < .05). RESULTS: The response rate to the survey was 20.69% (n = 113), including 28 fellows (24.78%). Forty-six respondents (40.71%) were female, and 67 (59.30%) were male. Dentists identified as specialists were significantly more likely to be involved in teaching dental trauma (p = .000008). A majority of respondents (87.76%; 86/98) expressed interest in obtaining fellowship, with increased interest from more recent graduates. Learning opportunities, obtaining expertise, networking and a sense of community and prestige, were key factors in considering fellowship. There was interest in alternate pathways other than examination alone, with 60.2% of 98 respondents suggesting a combination of publications /service to IADT/ reviewer for Dental Traumatology, 57.14% suggesting the submission of case reports, and 42.86% suggesting Honorary Fellowship. Respondents (73%) were willing to participate in online discussion forums and other professional development opportunities. This preference was more notable among non-fellows (75.29%) than fellows (67.85%). CONCLUSIONS: The survey indicates the diverse motivations and perceptions regarding the IADT Fellowship, despite the low participation of IADT members. Achieving fellowship status is desired by 87.7% of non-fellows. The majority of respondents were aware of the process, but main concerns were identified as eligibility criteria and examination difficulty. Options for alternate pathways and other initiatives promoting engagement were identified. Further exploration of these issues is required to be representative of the entire IADT membership. Addressing these obstacles could significantly enhance fellowship participation and overall member satisfaction within the IADT community.

BACKGROUND: Teaching professionalism in medical schools is central to medical education and society. We evaluated how medical students view the values of the medical profession on their first day of medical school and the influence of a conference about the competences of this profession on these students' levels of reflection. METHODS: We studied two groups of medical students who wrote narratives about the values of the medical profession and the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic on these values. The first group wrote the narratives after a conference about the competences of the medical profession (intervention group), and the second group wrote the same narratives after a biochemistry conference (control group). We also compared the levels of reflection of these two groups of students. RESULTS: Among the 175 medical students entering in the 2022 academic year, 159 agreed to participate in the study (response rate = 90.8%). There were more references to positive than negative models of doctorâpatient relationships experienced by the students (58.5% and 41.5% of responses, respectively). The intervention group referred to a more significant number of values than the control group did. The most cited values were empathy, humility, and ethics; the main competences were technical competence, communication/active listening, and resilience. The students' perspectives of the values of their future profession were strongly and positively influenced by the pandemic experience. The students realized the need for constant updating, basing medical practice on scientific evidence, and employing skills/attitudes such as resilience, flexibility, and collaboration for teamwork. Analysis of the levels of reflection in the narratives showed a predominance of reflections with a higher level in the intervention group and of those with a lower level in the control group. CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that medical students, upon entering medical school, already have a view of medical professionalism, although they still need to present a deeper level of self-reflection. A single, planned intervention in medical professionalism can promote self-reflection. The vision of medical professional identity was strongly influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic, positively impacting the formation of a professional identity among the students who decided to enter medical school.

BACKGROUND: Chilean midwives have been identified as essential for successfully implementing an abortion law, a practice which could potentially be understood as contradicting their central mission. Nevertheless, to date, there has been no investigation into how Chilean midwives have incorporated induced abortion care provision into their professional identity. OBJECTIVE: To elucidate how Chilean midwives understand and provide abortion care and how they have (re)defined their professional identity to include induced abortion care. This article reports the findings of the second part of this aim. METHODS: This study was underpinned by a constructivist grounded theory methodology informed by a reproductive justice and feminist perspective. Midwives from Chile who have cared for women undergoing abortion were invited to participate in the study. After purposive and theoretical sampling, fifteen midwives were recruited. FINDINGS: Midwives' identity is woman-centred, with high value placed on their role protecting life. These two aspects of midwives' identity are in contradiction when providing abortion care. Midwives' identity results from and informs midwives' practice. Midwifery regulation influences both practice and identity. The model 'Navigating a maze' explains the interaction of these three elements. CONCLUSION: Midwives' identity response to the enactment of the Chilean abortion law is an example of how professional identity must navigate regulation and practice to make sense of its purpose. In light of this study's findings, the current tension experienced in midwives' identity should be carefully attended to prevent adverse outcomes for midwives and the Chilean population.

OBJECTIVES: To characterize which strategies of professional identity formation and professionalism are being used in Pharmacy. FINDINGS: We gathered 5004 articles from 5 databases with the descriptors "pharmacy" "professionalism," "professional identity" and their synonyms. The professional identity is a set of values and behaviors common among professionals. Professionalism is the moral compass of these values, used as a strategy to own social authenticity. After excluding duplicate texts, analyzing titles, abstracts, and full articles, 17 studies met the inclusion criteria and presented strategies for the formation of professional identity and professionalism in pharmacy students. We did not find studies with pharmacists. The quality of reports was assessed using 2 instruments recommended by the literature. All studies were conducted from 2007 onwards, and the United States is the country with the most publications. The identified strategies consisted of extracurricular activities, thematic courses, lectures, and counseling sessions and did not follow standards of theoretical reference, method, execution, duration, and effectiveness of evaluation. SUMMARY: The interest of Pharmacy about professional identity and professionalism has grown substantially in recent years. Teaching strategies are essential alternatives to improve professionalism, reinforce its importance, and acknowledge its heterogeneity and differences. For that, they must be in line with the aims of the profession in society. This review highlights the need to develop standardized and reproducible teaching strategies to guarantee the effectiveness of students' professional socialization during graduation, as well as to instruct professionals to deal with the changes in the profession, increasing the influence of Pharmacy in society.

La presente investigación buscó comprender la relación entre los procesos de movilidad estudiantil y la construcción de la identidad en estudiantes de la Universidad Católica de Temuco. El estudio fue desarrollado a partir de una metodología cualitativa. Se realizaron entrevistas en profundidad a estudiantes que participaron de una movilidad estudiantil internacional saliente. Los resultados demostraron que el proceso de movilidad estudiantil constituye un hito que permite el autoconocimiento y la construcción de un yo ideal. Lo anterior daría cuenta del aporte de la movilidad estudiantil en aspectos académicos, profesionales y en la construcción del yo del estudiante.
A presente pesquisa buscou compreender a relação entre os processos de mobilidade estudantil e a construção da identidade em estudantes da Universidade Católica de Temuco. A investigação desenvolveu-se a partir de uma metodologia qualitativa. Foram realizadas entrevistas em profundidade com estudantes que realizaram uma mobilidade estudantil internacional de saída. Os resultados revelaram que o processo de mobilidade estudantil constitui um marco que possibilitou o autoconhecimento e a construção de um eu ideal. Isso evidencia a contribuição da mobilidade estudantil em aspectos acadêmicos, profissionais e na construção do eu do estudante.
The aim of this research is to comprehend the relation between the student mobility procedures and the identity building of the students of Universidad Católica de Temuco. The methodology delivered in this research was a qualitative methodology following the grounded theory guidelines, considering the international outgoing mobility students. The results pointed out mobility procedures as a landmark that allows the self-knowledge and the construction of an ideal self. This confers the contribution of student mobility in academic and professional aspects as well as the construction of self of the student.

Resumen Introducción: la formación de la identidad profesional médica se logra en etapas durante las cuales se internalizan las características, los valores y las normas de la profesión médica, lo que da como resultado que el individuo piense, actúe y se sienta como un médico. Los tutores en medicina deben aclarar y animar los principios dentro de los programas de estudio y los entornos de aprendizaje con el fin de apoyar la formación de la identidad profesional de sus alumnos. Objetivo: el propósito de este escrito es develar la participación de la tutoría médica como uno de los factores más influyentes que contribuyen al desarrollo de la identidad profesional de los estudiantes de la licenciatura de medicina, así como dar algunas pautas para que la formación de tutores contemple herramientas que les permitan contribuir en la construcción positiva y valorada de la identidad profesional de los estudiantes.
Abstract Introduction: the formation of the medical professional iden tity is achieved in stages during which the characteristics, values and norms of the medical profession are internalized, which results in the individual thinking, acting and feeling like a doctor. Tutors in medicine should clarify and encourage the principles within study programs and learning environments in order to support the formation of the professional identity of their students. Objective: the purpose of this paper is to reveal the participation of medical tutoring as one of the most influential factors that contribute to the development of the professional identity of medical students, as well as to give some guidelines so that the training of tutors. It contemplates tools that allow them to contribute to the positive and valued construction of the professional identity of the students.

O envelhecimento progressivo da sociedade demanda maior atenção aos aspectos profissionais de pessoas de meia-idade. Este estudo objetivou compreender os sentidos que 10 brasileiros entre 50 e 59 anos atribuem ao trabalho em um momento de transição de carreira. Trata-se de uma pesquisa fenomenológica, que empregou narrativas compreensivas individuais, elaboradas a partir de um encontro dialógico com cada participante, cujos sentidos e vivências compuseram uma narrativa síntese, representativa do todo. Os elementos estruturantes foram: a) transição profissional como fator de sofrimento; b) construção da identidade pessoal e social por meio do trabalho; c) trabalho como fonte de propósito de vida; d) trabalho como principal espaço de interação social; e) trabalho como recurso financeiro e subsistência foram discutidos a partir da Abordagem Experiencial de Gendlin. Descrevem-se tensões, desafios e a importância existencial do trabalho como mediador de sentidos. Fica evidenciada a necessidade de melhor preparo para transições laborais nessa fase de vida.
The progressive aging of society demands greater attention to the professional aspects of middle-aged people. This study aimed to understand the meanings that 10 Brazilians between 50 and 59-years old attribute to work in a moment of career transition. It is a phenomenological research that used individual comprehensive narratives, elaborated from a dialogical encounter with each participant, whose meanings and experiences comprised a synthesis narrative, representative of the whole. The structuring elements: a) professional transition as a factor of suffering; b) construction of personal and social identity through work; c) work as a source of life purpose; d) work as the main space for social interaction; e) work as a financial resource and subsistence were discussed based on Gendlin's Experiential Approach. Tensions, challenges and the existential importance of work as a meaningfulness mediator are described. The need for better preparation for work transitions in this stage of life is shown.
El progresivo envejecimiento de la sociedad exige una mayor atención a los aspectos profesionales de las personas de mediana edad. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo comprender los significados que 10 brasileños entre 50 y 59 años atribuyen al trabajo en un momento de transición profesional. Se trata de una investigación fenomenológica que utilizó narrativas comprensivas individuales, elaboradas a partir de un encuentro dialógico con cada participante, cuyos significados y vivencias conformaron una narrativa de síntesis, representativa del todo. Los elementos estructurantes: a) la transición profesional como factor de sufrimiento; b) construcción de identidad personal y social a través del trabajo; c) el trabajo como fuente de propósito de vida; d) trabajar como espacio principal de interacción social; e) el trabajo como recurso financiero y la subsistencia se discutieron sobre la base del Enfoque Experiencial de Gendlin. Se describen tensiones, desafíos y la importancia existencial del trabajo como mediador de significados. Se evidencia la necesidad de una mejor preparación para las transiciones laborales en esta etapa de la vida.

Resumo Objetivo compreender a identidade da enfermagem obstétrica no campo de sua atuação no Centro de Parto Normal. Método estudo descritivo-exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa. Realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas, entre março e agosto de 2022, com 09 enfermeira obstetras do Centro de Parto Normal Haydeê Pereira Sena, Pará, Brasil. Usaram-se análise de conteúdo e discussão com base na identidade de Claude Dubar. Resultados emergiram duas categorias: A identidade profissional: uma questão de construção social, que retrata o âmbito social da construção da identidade pelas experiências como estudante e como enfermeira e suas relações no processo de trabalho; e A identidade da enfermagem obstétrica no campo de sua atuação no Centro de Parto Normal, favorecendo a humanização, as evidências científicas para a autonomia da mulher, que somente é propiciada pela política estruturante do Centro de Parto, e os enfrentamentos com outras classes profissionais, para garantir e legitimar a atuação da enfermeira obstetra. Conclusão e implicações para a prática a compreensão da identidade profissional das enfermeiras no Centro de Parto Normal é o ponto central para garantir a sua valorização e sua atuação com respeito, legitimando seu direito, pois, com a identidade alicerçada, garantem-se maior qualidade e mudanças no modelo hegemônico obstétrico.
Resumen Objetivo comprender la identidad de la enfermería obstétrica en el campo de su actuación en el Centro de Parto Normal. Método estudio descriptivo-exploratorio con abordaje cualitativo. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas entre marzo y agosto de 2022 con 09 enfermeras obstétricas del Centro de Parto Normal Haydeê Pereira Sena, Pará, Brasil. Se utilizó el análisis de contenido y la discusión a partir de la identidad de Claude Dubar. Resultados surgieron dos categorías: Identidad profesional: una cuestión de construcción social, que retrata el alcance social de la construcción de la identidad a través de las experiencias como estudiante y como enfermero y sus relaciones en el proceso de trabajo; y La identidad de la enfermería obstétrica en el campo de su actuación en el Centro de Parto Normal, favoreciendo la humanizaciónevidencia científica para la autonomía de la mujer, que sólo es proporcionada por la política estructurante del Centro de Parto, y confrontaciones con otras clases profesionales, para garantizar y legitimar el trabajo de las enfermeras obstétrica. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica comprender la identidad profesional de las enfermeras del Centro Normal de Parto es el punto central para garantizar su valoración y su desempeño con respeto, legitimando sus derechos, ya que con una identidad sólida se garantiza mayor calidad y cambios en el modelo obstétrico hegemónico.
Abstract Objective to understand obstetrical nursing identity in the area of its performance in a Birth Center. Method a descriptive-exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were carried out between March and August 2022 with 09 nurse-midwives from the Centro de Parto Normal Haydeê Pereira Sena, Pará, Brazil. Content analysis and discussion based on Claude Dubar's identity were used. Results two categories emerged: Professional identity: a matter of social construction, which portrays the social scope of identity construction through experiences as a student and as a nurse and their relationships in the work process; and The identity of obstetrical nursing in the field of its performance in a Birth Center, favoring humanization, scientific evidence for women's autonomy, which is only provided by the birth center's structuring policy, and coping with other professional classes, to guarantee and legitimize nurse-midwives' work. Conclusion and implications for practice understanding nurses' professional identity in the birth center is the central point to ensure their appreciation and their performance with respect, legitimizing their right, because, with a solid identity, greater quality and changes in the hegemonic obstetric model are guaranteed.

Objetivou-se investigar o conhecimento produzido sobre a Identidade Profissional de professores de Educação Física (EF). Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa nas bases de dados entre 2015 a 2021, onde obtivemos vinte artigos: onze nacionais e nove internacionais. Verificamos que a identidade profissional é construída na temporalidade e nos espaços de vida para melhor compreender as múltiplas identidades possíveis encontradas na trajetória profissional. Embora as vivências anteriores à formação inicial tenham sido consideradas, foi possível observar que na formação inicial a identidade profissional se estabelece especialmente com o aprofundamento das vivências nos estágios. Além disso, a consolidação deste processo identitário permanece no campo profissional, individualmente e coletivamente, desde o ingresso na carreira e na formação continuada, porém, é um processo inacabado e em constante transformação.(AU)
The objective was to investigate the production of knowledge about the Professional Identity of Physical Education (PE) teachers. An integrative review was carried out in the databases between 2015 and 2021, where we obtained twenty articles: eleven national and nine international. We verified that the professional identity is built in temporality and in the spaces of life to better understand the multiple possible identities found in the professional trajectory. Although experiences prior to initial training have been considered, it was possible to observe that in initial training, professional identity is established especially with the deepening of experiences in internships. In addition, the consolidation of this identity process remains in the professional field, individually and collectively, from entry into the career and continuing education, however, it is an unfinished and constantly changing process.(AU)
El objetivo de la investigación fue investigar la producción del conocimiento sobre la Identidad Profesional de los docentes de Educación Física (EF). Se realizó una revisión integradora en las bases de datos entre 2015 y 2021, donde se obtuvieron veinte artículos: once nacionales y nueve internacionales. Se verificó que la identidad profesional se construye en la temporalidad y en los espacios de la vida para comprender mejor las múltiples identidades posibles encontradas en la trayectoria profesional. Si bien se han considerado experiencias previas a la formación inicial, se pudo observar que en la formación inicial se establece la identidad profesional especialmente con la profundización de experiencias en pasantías. Además, la consolidación de este proceso identitario se mantiene en el ámbito profesional, individual y colectivamente, desde el ingreso a la carrera y la formación continua, sin embargo, es un proceso inconcluso y en constante cambio.(AU)

Este estudo objetivou descrever a identidade profissional de psicólogos judiciários, partindo do cenário contemporâneo da Psicologia Jurídica brasileira, contexto que envolve crises e conflitos sobre a forma de responder a atribuições e demandas do campo legal. Pela perspectiva da sociologia das identidades profissionais de Claude Dubar, sustenta-se a hipótese de que a identidade profissional do psicólogo judiciário depende de estratégias de compatibilização entre o pertencimento à categoria e as atribuições legais e institucionais. Participaram 95 psicólogos do quadro ativo do Tribunal de Justiça de São Paulo, que responderam a um formulário online sobre a percepção de si e do campo de atuação. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo. Os resultados indicam a saliência da avaliação psicológica e da interdisciplinaridade na identidade profissional, e as rupturas identitárias diante de práticas verificatórias. Tais achados apontam a necessidade de participação da categoria na construção de suas atribuições; e dificuldades para o exercício das funções por limitações à autonomia profissional.(AU)
This study aimed to describe the professional identity of forensic psychologists, considering Brazil's Legal Psychology contemporary scenario which relates to a critical issues on how practitioners respond the demands of the legal system. Based on Claude Dubar's sociology of professional identities, we support the hypothesis that forensic psychologists' professional identity depends on strategies of compatibilization between belonging their reference group and the institutional attributions. There were 95 participants, all from the current staff of the Court of Justice of the state of São Paulo, who answered an online form. The data were subjected to content analysis. The results indicate a professional identity with noted salience on psychological assessment and interdisciplinarity, and the identity crises regarding verification practices. Such findings highlight the importance of practitioners taking part on the construction of their own tasks.(AU)
Este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir la identidad profesional de los psicólogos forenses, considerando el escenario de la Psicología Jurídica brasileña, que se relaciona con una crisis sobre si estos profesionales responden a las demandas del sistema legal. Teniendo en cuenta la sociología de las identidades profesionales de Claude Dubar, sostenemos la hipótesis de que la identidad profesional de los psicólogos forenses depende de estrategias de compatibilización entre la pertenencia a su grupo profesional y a instituciones. Participaron 95 psicólogos, quienes actuaban en el Tribunal de Justicia del Estado de São Paulo, a los cuales se aplicó un formulario en línea. Los datos se sometieron a análisis de contenido. Los resultados indican una identidad profesional saliente en cuanto a la evaluación psicológica y la interdisciplinariedad, pero también crisis de identidad en relación con las prácticas de verificación. Tales resultados señalan la importancia de que la categoría participe en la construcción de sus propias atribuciones.(AU)

Abstract Residency is still considered the gold standard for quality medical training, and acquiring a professional identity as a specialist is one of its central elements. Residents obtain this identity through both the educational environment and direct interaction with peers and supervisors. However, modifications in health care and educational routines during the recent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have significantly impaired these channels. This study is part of a qualitative research project to analyze professional identity formation in a medical residency program in obstetrics and gynecology at a public hospital in southern Brazil. The authors conducted 28 semi-structured interviews with medical residents and preceptors, as well as a focus group with the residents, which was recorded, transcribed, and analyzed in an effort to construct major analytical categories. Restricted movement and physical contact have forced the use of alternative means of interpersonal interaction, such as communication through social media or instant messaging applications. This has also affected educational activities, such as morning rounds, lectures, and seminars. These changes represent a significant impact, especially in Brazil, where physical proximity is an important cultural feature, even in the work and school environments. We speculate that this new type of virtual interaction will also affect the formation of professional identity among obstetrician-gynecologists. These findings suggest that medical residency programs should be attentive to changes in resident training to ensure that the specialist profile and the expected skills, which are consolidated over many years, are not lost.
Resumo A residência médica ainda é considerada o padrão-ouro para a formação médica de qualidade, sendo o processo de construção da identidade profissional de um médico especialista um de seus elementos centrais. Os residentes obtêm essa identidade, entre outros fatores, por meio do ambiente educacional e da interação direta com colegas e supervisores. No entanto, as modificações nas rotinas assistenciais e educacionais durante a recente pandemia de coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) prejudicaram significativamente esses canais. Este estudo faz parte de um projeto de pesquisa qualitativa com o objetivo de analisar a formação da identidade profissional em um programa de residência médica em ginecologia e obstetrícia em um hospital público do sul do Brasil. Os autores realizaram 28 entrevistas semiestruturadas com médicos residentes e preceptores, bem como um grupo focal com residentes. Tanto as entrevistas como as reuniões com o grupo focal foram gravadas, transcritas e analisadas no esforço de construir categorias analíticas. Foi identificado que o movimento restrito e o contato físico forçaram o uso de meios alternativos de interação interpessoal, como a comunicação por meio de mídias sociais ou aplicativos de mensagens instantâneas. Isso também afetou as atividades educacionais, como as rounds, palestras e seminários. Essas mudanças representam um impacto significativo, principalmente no Brasil, onde a proximidade física é uma importante característica cultural, mesmo em ambientes de trabalho e de estudo. Conjectura-se que esse novo tipo de interação virtual também afetará a formação da identidade profissional entre os ginecologistas-obstetras. Esses achados sugerem que os programas de residência médica devem estar atentos às mudanças na formação dos residentes para garantir que o perfil do especialista e as competências esperadas, consolidadas ao longo de muitos anos, não sejam perdidos.

INTRODUCTION: Medical schools worldwide are creating inclusion policies to increase the admission of students from vulnerable social groups. This study explores how medical students from vulnerable social groups experience belongingness as they join the medical community. METHODS: This qualitative study applied thematic analysis to 10 interviews with medical students admitted to one medical school through an affirmative policy. The interviews followed the drawing of a rich picture, in which the students represented a challenging situation experienced in their training, considering their socio-economic and racial background. The analysis was guided by the modes of belonging (engagement, imagination, and alignment) described by the Communities of Practice framework. RESULTS: Participants struggled to imagine themselves as future doctors because they lack identification with the medical environment, suffer from low self-esteem, aside from experiencing racial and social discrimination. Participants also find it troublesome to engage in social and professional activities because of financial disadvantages and insufficient support from the university. However, participants strongly align with the values of the public health system and show deep empathy for the patients. DISCUSSION: Including students with different socio-economic and racial backgrounds offers an opportunity to reform the medical culture. Medical educators need to devise strategies to support students' socialization through activities that increase their self-esteem and make explicit the contributions they bring to the medical community.

PHENOMENON: Clinical teachers perform overlapping tasks in education and patient care. They are therefore expected to juggle many professional identities such as educator and clinician. Yet little is known about how clinical teachers negotiate their professional identities. The present research examined the lived experiences of clinical teachers as they manage and make sense of their professional identities in the context of a faculty development program. APPROACH: This study adopted interpretative phenomenological analysis, which is an idiographic and inductive methodological approach that enables an in-depth examination of how people conceptualize their personal and social worlds. In-depth semi-structured individual interviews were conducted with six purposively sampled Brazilian clinical teachers who were attending a faculty development program. Each participant's lived experience was analyzed independently. Then, these individual analyses were compared against each other to identify convergence and divergence. FINDINGS: Participants recognized one identity, which was labeled as embedding identity, containing other identities and roles. Participants integrated their professional identities in agreement with their personal identities, values, and beliefs, striving thus for identity consonance. Participants understood their craft as a relational process by which they wove themselves into their context and entangled their experience with that of others. They, however, diverged when recognizing who their peers were; whereas some named a single professional group (i.e., family physicians), others had a more comprehensive view and considered as peers healthcare professionals, students, and even patients. Finally, participants identified time constraints and lower prestige of family medicine as a medical discipline vis-à-vis other specialties as challenges posed by their contexts. INSIGHTS: Clinical teachers have multifaceted identities, to which they give a sense, manage, and integrate into their daily practice. Participants recognized an embedding identity and looked for common points between the identities it contained, which allowed them to meaningfully reconcile the different demands from their overlapping professional identities. Thus, this research introduces the notion of embedding identity as a strategy to make sense of many professional identities. Variability in the embedding identities depicted in this investigation suggests the fluid and contextualized character of professional identity development. How participants saw themselves also influenced how they behaved and interacted with others accordingly. Understanding clinical teacher identity development enriches current perspectives of what it is like to be one of these medical professionals. Faculty development programs ought to consider these perspectives to better support clinical teachers in meeting the overlapping demands in education and patient care.

RESUMEN: La identidad docente desempeña un papel fundamental en el ejercicio de la profesión. El objetivo de este estudio es mostrar las propiedades psicométricas de la Escala de Medida de la Identidad Docente para ser empleada en investigaciones en el contexto chileno y aportar lineamientos para la utilización de este instrumento en el contexto hispanoparlante. Participaron 242 estudiantes de la carrera de Pedagogía en Educación Especial de 10 universidades chilenas. Se empleó el procedimiento de traducción y retrotraducción, obteniendo evidencia de validez de contenido mediante el juicio de expertos y el índice de concordancia V de Aiken. A través de un análisis factorial confirmatorio, se comprueba un buen nivel de ajuste del instrumento, mientras que la consistencia interna es verificada mediante el Coeficiente de Omega (ω), evidenciando buenos índices de confiabilidad. Los hallazgos muestran que la versión traducida y adaptada de la escala es válida y fiable para ser empleada en estudiantes universitarios de Pedagogía en Chile, pudiendo contribuir a la comprensión del desarrollo de la identidad docente en futuros profesores
ABSTRACT: Teacher identity plays a fundamental role in the exercise of the profession. Te aim of this study is to show the psychometric properties of the Teacher Identity Measurement Scale for use in research in the Chilean context and to provide guidelines for the use of this instrument in the Spanish-speaking context. A sample of 242 Special Education Preservice Teachers from ten Chilean universities participated in the study. Te translation and back-translation procedure was used, obtaining evidence of content validity through expert judgment and Aiken's V concordance index. Trough a confirmatory factor analysis, a good level of adjustment of the instrument was verified, while the internal consistency was verified through the McDonald's Omega Coefficient (ω), evidencing good reliability indexes. Te findings show that the translated and adapted version of the scale is valid and reliable to be used in university student teachers in Chile, and can contribute to the understanding of the development of the teachers identity during initial teachers training.

O trabalho doméstico vem passando por mudanças, principalmente nos países em desenvolvimento. No Brasil, as mudanças no trabalho doméstico têm sido impulsionadas pela Emenda Constitucional nº 72, de 2013. Esta pesquisa objetivou discutir a identidade profissional e as relações de trabalho de empregadas domésticas brasileiras a partir dos discursos das próprias trabalhadoras. Assim, foram realizadas dez entrevistas em profundidade, sendo cinco com empregadas mensalistas e cinco com diaristas da Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. As entrevistas foram gravadas em áudio e transcritas. Seguindo o método de análise dos núcleos de sentido, foram identificados dois núcleos centrais: ingresso na profissão e identidade profissional; e ambiguidade na relação empregada-empregadora ou empregador. Os discursos das trabalhadoras domésticas sinalizaram uma inserção precoce no mundo do trabalho e uma identidade profissional tênue, com relações dúbias entre patroas e empregadas e dúvidas quanto ao reconhecimento e valorização por parte dos empregadores. Domestic work has been undergoing changes, especially in developing countries. In Brazil, such changes have been driven by the Constitutional Amendment no. 72, from 2013. This research discusses the professional identity and labor relations of Brazilian domestic workers, based on ten in-depth interviews conducted with five full-time and five part-time domestic workers, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro. After being recorded and transcribed, the interviews underwent core meaning analysis, which identified two core meanings: entry into the profession entry and professional identity; and employee-employer relationship ambiguity. The interviews revealed an early entry in the labor market and a tenuous professional identity, marked by dubious relations between employers and employees and doubts regarding the recognition and valuation by employers. Resumo Este artigo apresenta uma análise sobre o trabalho dos/as assistentes sociais no Instituto Federal de Educação de Santa Catarina, em sua relação com o processo de construção da identidade profissional. A partir do final dos anos 2000, observa-se uma expansão no número de assistentes sociais atuando na política educacional, com a constituição do Programa Nacional de Assistência Estudantil e da Rede Federal de Educação Profissional, Científica e Tecnológica, requisitado, principalmente, para a execução das ações de assistência estudantil. As demandas, requisições e condições de trabalho são elementos que corroboram a construção do projeto ético-político da profissão, e refletir sobre tais aspectos possibilita compreender a realidade para além da sua aparência imediata. Este estudo, fundamentado no materialismo histórico-dialético, desenvolveu-se com base na pesquisa bibliográfica e documental e na pesquisa de campo, utilizando-se do questionário para o levantamento de dados. Os resultados apontam limites e possibilidades ao trabalho dos/as assistentes sociais no Instituto, demonstrando que a construção da identidade profissional ocorre em meio à contradição posta entre as determinações do trabalho assalariado, ao qual os/as assistentes sociais estão sujeitos, e o direcionamento social que se busca imprimir ao exercício profissional, tendo em vista a materialização do projeto profissional.
Abstract This article presents an analysis of the work of social workers at the Federal Institute of Education of Santa Catarina, in relation to the process of building professional identity. From the end of the 2000s onwards, there was an expansion in the number of social workers working in educational policy, with the constitution of the National Student Assistance Program and the Federal Network of Professional, Scientific and Technological Education, mainly required for the implementation of student assistance actions. The demands, requisitions and working conditions are elements that support the construction of the ethical-political project of the profession, and reflecting on such aspects makes it possible to understand reality beyond its immediate appearance. This study, based on historical-dialectical materialism, was developed based on bibliographic and documental research and on field research, using the questionnaire to collect data. The results point out limits and possibilities to the work of social workers at the Institute, demonstrating that the construction of professional identity occurs in the midst of the contradiction between the determinations of salaried work, to which social workers are subject, and the social direction that is sought to be imprinted on professional practice, with a view to materializing the professional project.
Resumen Este artículo presenta un análisis del trabajo de los/las asistentes sociales del Instituto Federal de Educación de Santa Catarina, en su relación con el proceso de construcción de la identidad profesional. A partir de fines de la década de 2000, hubo una expansión en el número de asistentes sociales actuando en la política educativa, con la constitución del Programa Nacional de Atención al Estudiante y la Red Federal de Educación Profesional, Científica y Tecnológica, requerido principalmente para la implementación de las acciones de asistencia estudiantil. Las exigencias, requisiciones y condiciones de trabajo son elementos que corroboran la construcción del proyecto ético-político de la profesión, y reflexionar sobre tales aspectos posibilita comprender la realidad más allá de su apariencia inmediata. Este estudio, basado en el materialismo histórico-dialéctico, se desarrolló a partir de una investigación bibliográfica, documental y de campo, utilizando el cuestionario para la recolección de datos. Los resultados apuntan límites y posibilidades al trabajo de los asistentes sociales en el Instituto, demostrando que la construcción de la identidad profesional ocurre en medio de la contradicción planteada entre las determinaciones del trabajo asalariado, al que están sujetos los asistentes sociales, y la dirección social que se busca imprimir en el ejercicio profesional, teniendo en mente la materialización del proyecto profesional.

Professional socialization is a complex process that leads to the professional identity. While several studies have focused on the professional identity of physicians and nurses, few studies analyzed this aspect among dieticians. Furthermore, those studies did not consider the influence of sociocultural norms. The aim of this study was to analyze the construction of the professional identity of Brazilian, French and Spanish dieticians. A qualitative methodology based on semi-structured interviews was set up. The construction of the professional identity of Brazilian, French and Spanish dieticians is characterized by the incorporation of skills, knowledge and roles. This process was marked by transformations, mainly related to food and body. Dieticians from the three nationalities shared similar professional values grounded in a medical-nutritional rationale. However, their professional identity also resulted from a continuous process of interaction with patients, peers and the socio-cultural environment. (AU)
A socialização profissional é um processo complexo que leva à identidade profissional. Embora vários estudos tenham enfocado a identidade profissional de médicos/as e enfermeiros/as, poucos estudos analisaram esse aspecto entre nutricionistas. Além disso, esses estudos não consideraram a influência das normas socioculturais. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a construção da identidade profissional de nutricionistas brasileiras, francesas e espanholas. Foi usada uma metodologia qualitativa baseada em entrevistas semiestruturadas. A construção da identidade profissional das nutricionistas brasileiras, francesas e espanholas foi caracterizada pela incorporação de competências, conhecimentos e papéis. Esse processo foi marcado por transformações, principalmente relacionado à alimentação e ao corpo. As nutricionistas das três nacionalidades compartilhavam valores profissionais semelhantes, baseados em uma lógica médico-nutricional. No entanto, sua identidade profissional também resultou de um processo contínuo de interação com pacientes, pares e o contexto sociocultural. (AU)
La socialización profesional es un proceso complejo que conduce a la identidad profesional. Aunque varios estudios se centraron en la identidad profesional de médicos/as y enfermeros/as, pocos analizaron este aspecto entre dietistas. Además, estos estudios no consideraron la influencia de las normas socioculturales. Nuestro objetivo fue analizar la construcción de la identidad profesional de dietistas brasileñas, francesas y españolas. Se aplicó una metodología cualitativa basada en entrevistas semi-estructuradas. La construcción de la identidad profesional de las dietistas brasileñas, francesas y españolas se caracterizó por la incorporación de habilidades, conocimientos y roles. Este proceso estuvo marcado por transformaciones relacionadas con la alimentación y el cuerpo. Las dietistas de las tres nacionalidades compartían valores profesionales similares basados en una lógica médico-nutricional. Sin embargo, su identidad profesional también resultó de un proceso continuo de interacción con los/as pacientes, pares y el entorno sociocultural. (AU)

RESUMO Da relação com o paciente emergem sentimentos, dúvidas, fantasias e temores que eventualmente escapam do mundo interno de um terapeuta; são impasses que muitas vezes refletem bloqueios que limitam também a liberação da espontaneidade do paciente. O artigo coloca em pauta a supervisão com técnicas psicodramáticas como elemento na formação e no desenvolvimento do papel de terapeuta, relatando um estudo de caso no âmbito psicoterapêutico. O objetivo concentra em destacar o jogo dramático como possibilidade de reconhecimento de aspectos pessoais do supervisionando que interferem no processo psicoterapêutico e de manejo espontâneo-criativo de suas intervenções, integrando o conhecimento à dimensão vivencial. Foi possível concluir que a supervisionanda desenvolveu maior segurança no papel profissional, apontando ainda a significativa importância do supervisor nesse processo.
ABSTRACT From the relationship with the patient emerge feelings, doubts, fantasies, and fears that eventually escape from the inner world of a therapist. These are obstacles that often reflect blockages and fears, which also limit the release of the patient's spontaneity. The article discusses the supervision with psychodramatic techniques as an element in the training and development of the therapist's role, reporting a case study in the psychotherapeutic scope. Its objective is to highlight the dramatic game as a possibility of recognizing personal aspects of the supervisee that interfere in the psychotherapeutic process and the spontaneous-creative strategy of his interventions, integrating knowledge to the experiential dimension. The study concluded that the supervisee felt professionally safer, also recognizing the significant importance of the supervisor in this process.
RESUMEN De la relación con el paciente surgen sentimientos, dudas, fantasías y miedos que acaban escapando del mundo interno del terapeuta; se tratan de impases que a menudo reflejan bloqueos que límite también la liberación de la espontaneidad del paciente. El artículo destaca la supervisión con técnicas psicodramáticas como elemento de formación y desarrollo del rol de terapeuta, reportando un caso de estudio en el ámbito psicoterapéutico. El objetivo se centra en destacar el juego dramático como posibilidad de reconocer aspectos personales del supervisado que interfieren en el proceso psicoterapéutico y en la gestión espontánea-creativa de sus intervenciones, integrando el conocimiento con la dimensión vivencial. Se pudo concluir que la supervisando desarrolló una mayor seguridad en su rol profesional, señalando también la gran importancia de la supervisora en este proceso.

RESUMEN Introducción La identidad profesional docente está conformada por las dimensiones cognitiva, psicomotriz y afectiva que surgen de la enseñanza. Los incidentes críticos en escenarios universitarios permiten un cambio radical de estas representaciones cuando la reflexión es la estrategia de afrontamiento. Nuestro estudio aporta nuevos conocimientos a la docencia de matronería. Objetivos Establecer la relación entre las dimensiones identitarias del profesorado de matronería con las estrategias de afrontamiento ante incidentes críticos en contextos educativos, así como identificar las estrategias utilizadas por el grupo de docentes para cada incidente crítico. Método Estudio transversal y correlacional, muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Participaron 231 docentes de 21 universidades chilenas. Se aplicó el cuestionario Identidad profesional de matronas/es docentes y estrategias de afrontamiento ante incidentes críticos. Las pruebas estadísticas fueron de tipo descriptivas e inferenciales. Resultados Se obtuvo una relación estadísticamente significativa entre las dimensiones identitarias y las estrategias de afrontamiento ante sucesos inesperados. Los abordajes reflexivos fueron determinantes en el cuerpo académico en estudio. Discusión y Conclusiones Los componentes identitarios varían en función del tipo de afrontamiento de cada participante. La posición académica de investigación de la dimensión cognitiva denota mayor preocupación por su desarrollo incipiente. La postura reflexiva prepondera en el grupo de docentes; no obstante, los incidentes críticos son resueltos de manera temporal, con la posibilidad de reproducirse nuevamente. Este estudio sustenta la necesidad de ofrecer programas de manejo de incidentes críticos en escenarios educativos y en metodologías de investigación que permitan una reconceptualización del ser docente universitario.
ABSTRACT Introduction The teaching professional identity is constituted by the cognitive, psicomotor, and affective dimensions which arise from the activity. Critical incidents in university scenarios can allow radical changes in these representations when reflection is the coping strategy. Our study adds new knowledge to midwifery teaching. Objectives To establish the relationships among the dimension of professional identity of midwifery teachers and the related coping strategies towards critical incidents in the context of education, as well as to determine those strategies used by teachers for each critical incident. Method This is a transversal and correlational study with probabilistic and by-convenience sampling with 231 teachers of 21 Chilean universities. The Professional identity of midwifery teachers and coping strategies towards critical incidents questionnaire was used. Descriptive and inferential statistics were calculated. Results A significant statistical relationship was found between the professional identity dimensions and the coping strategies towards unexpected incidents. Reflexive approaches were determinant among the teachers of this study. Discussion and conclusions The components of identity vary as a function of the coping approach. The academic position of research on the cognitive dimension reflects the greatest concern due to its incipient state. The reflexive posture is prevalent among the teachers of this study; nevertheless, critical incidents are addressed only in a temporary form. Therefore, in this study, we suggest the need to offer programs on the management of critical incidents in education contexts, as well as research methodologies that can allow a reconceptualization of the university teacher.
RESUMO Introdução A identidade profissional docente é constituída pelas dimensões cognitiva, psicomotora e afetiva que surgem da docência. Os incidentes críticos em ambientes universitários permitem uma mudança radical nessas representações quando a reflexão é a estratégia de enfrentamento. Nosso estudo traz novos conhecimentos para o ensino da obstetrícia. Objetivos Estabelecer a relação entre as dimensões identitárias dos professores de obstetrícia e as estratégias de enfrentamento dos incidentes críticos em contextos educacionais, bem como determinar as referidas estratégias utilizadas pelo grupo de docentes para cada incidente crítico. Método Estudo transversal e correlacional, amostragem não probabilística por conveniência. Participaram 231 professores de 21 universidades chilenas. Foi aplicado o questionário Identidade profissional de parteiras/os professores e estratégias de enfrentamento diante de incidentes críticos. Foram utilizados testes estatísticos descritivos e inferenciais. Resultados Foi obtida uma relação estatisticamente significativa entre as dimensões de identidade e as estratégias de enfrentamento diante de eventos inesperados. As abordagens reflexivas foram determinantes no corpo acadêmico em estudo. Discussão e Conclusões Os componentes identitários variam dependendo do tipo de enfrentamento de cada participante. A posição de pesquisador acadêmico da dimensão cognitiva denota maior preocupação com seu desenvolvimento incipiente. A posição reflexiva prevalece no grupo de professores; no entanto, os incidentes críticos são resolvidos temporariamente, com possibilidade de uma outra reprodução. Este estudo sustenta a necessidade de oferecer programas de gerenciamento de incidentes críticos em cenários educacionais e em metodologias de pesquisa que permitam uma reconceituação do ser professor universitário.
