RESUMEN
RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar desde una perspectiva etnográfica los procesos étnicos-identitarios y la organización etnopolítica de la población indígena en la localidad de Carhué, provincia de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Para ello fueron atendidas diversas cuestiones, como las estrategias, los reclamos y las formas de resistencia llevadas a cabo por las familias que la componen. En este análisis resulta central atender a la emergencia étnica de la década de 1990 en espacios urbanos y las legislaciones que tienen como principales destinatarios a los pueblos originarios del país. Materiales y métodos: El trabajo con las familias mapuches de Carhué comenzó en 2018 a partir de una demanda específica para colaborar en la tramitación de su personería jurídica y las pautas de trabajo fueron definidas en conjunto. De esta manera, la metodología parte y se sustenta en el trabajo colaborativo. La perspectiva etnográfica se nutrió de entrevistas formales y dirigidas, charlas informales y observación participante, lo cual se trianguló con la búsqueda de fuentes en diversos archivos y la lectura bibliográfica de antecedentes teóricos en el tema. Resultados: En este trabajo hemos mostrado la necesaria movilización y elaboración de estrategias de las comunidades indígenas para hacer cumplir sus derechos como pueblos preexistentes ante la ausencia de respuestas de los diversos niveles del Estado y la falta de implementación de las leyes y normativas concernientes a los pueblos indígenas. Conclusiones: Pudimos observar que, a pesar de la falta de respuesta en relación con los reclamos indígenas, la organización etnopolítica de la comunidad de Carhué sigue creciendo en pos de visibilizar su presencia en el ámbito local, reclamar por el cumplimiento de derechos y por el acceso a la tierra para disponer de espacios propios para su reproducción y fortalecimiento.
ABSTRACT Objective: This paper seeks to contribute, from the perspective of Social Anthropology, to the analysis of the ethnopolitical organization and identity revaluation of indigenous communities in Argentina. For this purpose, we will focus on the organization process of the families of the Mapuche Kalfulafken community in the urban region of Carhué, province of Buenos Aires (Argentina), which has gained momentum in the last decades. In short, the aim is to analyze how indigenous claims in Carhué are constituted around territory, ethnic identity and living conditions by considering resistance strategies and access to resources over time and in relation to the different levels of the State -municipality, province and nation-. Central to this analysis is the indigenous emergence of recent times, which began in the 1990s and is characterized by a growing ethnic awareness and emergence. Additionally, reanalyzing the legislations that principally address the original pueblos of the country and the legal and regulatory advances that, in many cases, are due to the continued mobilization and organization of indigenous groups have been very important in the processes of identity reconstruction. Materials and methods: The approach from which we start this research corresponds to the perspective of Social Anthropology. The fieldwork with the Mapuche families of Carhué began in 2018 from a specific demand to the research/outreach group to collaborate in their request for recognition before the provincial State (through the processing of their legal status). The steps to be followed in the research and the work guidelines were defined together with the community, so that the methodology is based on collaborative work. A bibliographic survey of theoretical antecedents was carried out. The research question focused on the forms of organization of the Mapuche families and their relationship with the processes of ethnic-identity reconfiguration in Carhué, framed in the context of the indigenous emergence and resurgence of ethnic and territorial demands in the area. Returning to the field on several occasions, deepening the topics and reworking the methodological strategies allowed us to construct the objectives and better orient the research. The methodology was ethnographic and a diverse group of actors were interviewed: the members of the indigenous organization, inhabitants of Carhué, governmental and non-governmental officials, and others. Open and in-depth interviews, semi-structured interviews, individual, and group interviews were carried out. The aim was to reconstruct life histories and trajectories in order to try to understand social phenomena from the perspective of the actors. Thus, participant observation was an importantpart of the fieldwork. The perspective was nurtured and triangulated with the search for primary and secondary sources and complementary cases through the work in the local archive at the request of Kalfulafken, given the importance of making an approach with some historical depth to reconstruct the facts of persecution and violence against indigenous peoples in Argentina. Results: The work is framed within the resurgence of the demands and processes of identity reconstruction that have been gaining strength in the country since the 1990s. The large presence of the indigenous population in urban spaces is highlighted in the face of the historically constructed ideas of denial, discrimination and exclusion that have their roots in the colonial period and continued with the formation of the National State. We focus on the history of ethnopolitical organization and the forms of resistance ofthefamilies of Carhué, which has gained momentum in the last decades and seeks to assert their presence in the urban environment. From which, the members appeal to distance themselvesfrom and question the discourses promoted by state institutions that sought to dominate and make the indigenous population in the region invisible. In this way, we address the strategies and activities implemented by the Kalfulafken community that seek to question the 'official history' and demonstrate the subjugation, discrimination and invisibilization suffered and to reaffirm their current presence in Carhué. Such processes have led, on the one hand, to new links with other ethnopolitical groups, universities, national and local institutions, and on the other hand, to the generation of new spaces for participation and networks in the area in order to have greater visibility and strengthen their claims. In addition, we highlight the community's search for support and recognitionfrom local authorities in order to make their claims viable. Conclusions: From the analysis on the organizational processes of a Mapuche community in the province of Buenos Aires we can make several conclusions. On the one hand, in the absence of responses from the various levels of the State and the lack of implementation of laws and regulations concerning indigenous peoples, it is the communities that must mobilize and develop strategies to enforce their rights as pre-existing peoples. Despite the lack of response to the indigenous claims, the ethnopolitical organization of the community of Carhué continues to grow in order to make its presence visible at the local level and to claim the fulfillment of their rights and the recovery of their territories in order to have their own spaces and cultural autonomy for their reproduction. Another issue that was highlighted was the need forgreater access to funds and social projects that would allow these objectives to be carried out and that wouldprovide scholarships for the younger generations to study. That is to say that these requests that have arisen in the organization are linked, since in order to have autonomy they must have territories and funds to sustain it. In summary, the above allows us to account for the local ethnopolitical work and the impact of the productions and materials produced within the framework of university extension to accompany such processes. Likewise, the presence of indigenous movements makes it clear that the state projects of a homogeneous Argentina have not been achieved. In the case of Kalfulafken we have been able to see that in addition to the processing of their legal status, the community seeks to generate new spaces for intervention and networks in the region to achieve greater visibility and strengthen their claims.

Objetivo: conhecer as dificuldades elencadas pelos profissionais de saúde na assistência pré-natal às usuárias de substâncias psicoativas. Método: estudo qualitativo, exploratório-descritivo, realizado nas mídias sociais, com profissionais da área da saúde que realizam atendimento pré-natal. A coleta de dados ocorreu de novembro de 2022 a janeiro de 2023 por meio de questionário eletrônico. Os dados foram analisados por meio da análise temática. Protocolo aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa. Resultados: os profissionais destacam o déficit de conhecimento para abordar este público em específico. A abordagem superficial e condenatória do uso de substâncias pelas políticas públicas corrobora para que os profissionais se sintam preparados em parte para atender essas gestantes. Considerações finais: a capacitação dos profissionais é necessária para superar práticas condenatórias e retrógradas de cuidado que focam unicamente a abstinência; como também, o investimento na capacitação acerca da rede de atenção à saúde, buscando ampliar sua visibilidade e utilização.
Objective: understanding the difficulties listed by health professionals in prenatal care for users of psychoactive substances. Method: this is a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study carried out on social media with health professionals who provide prenatal care. Data was collected from November 2022 to January 2023 using an electronic questionnaire. The data was analyzed using thematic analysis. Protocol approved by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: the professionals highlight the lack of knowledge to deal with this specific public. The superficial and condemnatory approach to substance use by public policies contributes to making professionals feel partly prepared to deal with these pregnant women. Final considerations: the training of professionals is necessary to overcome condemnatory and retrograde care practices that focus solely on abstinence; and investment in training about the health care network, seeking to increase its visibility and use.
Objetivo: conocer las dificultades mencionadas por los profesionales de la salud en la atención prenatal de las consumidoras de sustancias psicoactivas. Método: estudio cualitativo, exploratorio-descriptivo, realizado en redes sociales, con profesionales de la salud que brindan atención prenatal. La recolección de datos se llevó a cabo de noviembre de 2022 a enero de 2023 a través de un cuestionario electrónico. Los datos se analizaron mediante análisis temático. El protocolo fue aprobado por el Comité de Ética en Investigación. Resultados: los profesionales destacan que les falta el conocimiento para atender a este público específico. El abordaje superficial y condenatorio del consumo de sustancias por parte de las políticas públicas contribuye a que los profesionales se sientan parcialmente preparados para atender a esas gestantes. Consideraciones finales: es necesario capacitar a los profesionales para superar las prácticas asistenciales condenatorias y retrógradas que se centran únicamente en evitar el consumo; e invertir en capacitación sobre la red de atención de salud, para ampliar su visibilidad y uso.

Objetivo: compreender as percepções e as ações de uma equipe multiprofissional em saúde quanto à prática da medicina tradicional indígena em uma Casa de Atenção à Saúde Indígena. Método: estudo qualitativo descritivo, realizado em uma de Casa de Apoio à Saúde Indígena em um município do Pará, que incluiu oito profissionais de uma equipe multiprofissional. A coleta de dados foi realizada no ano de 2018 e estes foram examinados pelo método da análise de conteúdo. Resultados: inserção e prática do cristianismo; ritos e lideranças xamânicas; e postura da equipe de multidisciplinar foram as categorias elencadas, que apontam os entendimentos e atuações da equipe multiprofissional e da organização espacial da Casa de Saúde do município. Considerações finais: há novos costumes e valores entre as etnias, em virtude da aproximação de grupos religiosos, cujas ações foram registradas e apreendidas pela equipe de trabalhadores em saúde.
Objective: understanding the perceptions and actions of a multi-professional health team regarding the practice of traditional indigenous medicine in an Indigenous Health Care Center. Method: this is a descriptive qualitative study carried out in an Indigenous Health Support Center in a municipality in the state of Pará, which included eight professionals from a multi-professional team. Data was collected in 2018 and examined using the content analysis method. Results: insertion and practice of Christianity; shamanic rites and leadership; and the attitude of the multidisciplinary team were the categories listed, which point to the understandings and actions of the multi-professional team and the spatial organization of the Health Center in the municipality. Final considerations: there are new customs and values among ethnic groups, due to the approach of religious groups, whose actions were recorded and apprehended by the team of health workers.
Objetivo: comprender las percepciones y acciones de un equipo multidisciplinario de salud sobre la práctica de la medicina tradicional indígena en una Casa de Atención para la Salud Indígena. Método: estudio descriptivo cualitativo, realizado en una Casa de Apoyo a la Salud Indígena de un municipio de Pará, que incluyó ocho profesionales de un equipo multidisciplinario. La recolección de datos se realizó en 2018 y los datos fueron sometidos al método de análisis de contenido. Resultados: inserción y práctica del cristianismo; ritos y líderes chamánicos; y actitud del equipo multidisciplinario fueron las categorías enumeradas, que indican la percepción y las acciones del equipo multidisciplinario y la organización espacial de la Casa de Salud del municipio. Consideraciones finales: existen nuevas costumbres y valores entre las etnias, debido a la presencia de grupos religiosos, el equipo de los trabajadores de la salud registró y aprendió las acciones de los indígenas.

Resumen Introducción. Colombia alberga dos millones de indígenas, que viven en condiciones de pobreza y tienen deficiencias en salud, por lo cual están expuestos a contraer infecciones virales como la hepatitis B. El departamento del Amazonas presenta una gran prevalencia del virus y barreras para acceder a la vacunación; por esto, parte de la población es propensa a la infección. Objetivo. Identificar factores asociados con la infección por el virus de la hepatitis B en indígenas colombianos. Materiales y métodos. Se llevó a cabo un estudio de casos y controles en mayores de 18 años de cuatro departamentos del país. Los casos se identificaron mediante el registro nacional de notificación de hepatitis B (2015-2022). Los controles seleccionados de manera concurrente fueron pareados con los casos por edad, sexo, etnia y departamento. En una encuesta se consignaron las características sociodemográficas, los factores asociados con el contacto con sangre y fluidos, las prácticas socioculturales y los antecedentes de vacunación. El proyecto fue aprobado por Comité de Ética de la Universidad de Antioquia. Resultados. Participaron 75 casos y 150 controles de 13 grupos étnicos. El departamento del Amazonas aportó el 49 % de los participantes (83 % mujeres) con una mediana de edad de 30 años (RIC = 27-37). Los factores asociados con una mayor probabilidad de contraer la infección fueron el antecedente de algún familiar infectado con el virus de la hepatitis B (OR ajustado = 2,61) (IC95%: 1,09-6,27) y número de embarazos en mujeres, (OR ajustado = 1,61) (IC95%: 1,02-2,54). La vacunación mostró un efecto protector sin asociación significativa. Conclusión. Los aspectos asociados con la convivencia familiar y el número de embarazos contribuyen a una potencial transmisión vertical y horizontal del virus. No se identificaron prácticas culturales asociadas. Se requieren estrategias novedosas y diferenciales para reducir la transmisión del virus de la hepatitis B en poblaciones indígenas.
Abstract Introduction. Colombia is home to 2 million indigenous people who live in conditions of poverty and with health deficiencies, making them vulnerable to contracting hepatitis B (HBV). Amazonas has a high virus prevalence, and there are barriers to accessing vaccination; thus, part of the population is susceptible to infection. Objective. To identify factors associated with HBV in Colombian indigenous people. Materials and Methods. A case-control study of people over 18 years from four departments of Colombia. Cases were identified through the national hepatitis B notification registry (2015-2022). Controls were selected and matched to cases (2:1) by age, sex, ethnicity, and department. Sociodemographic characteristics, factors associated with contact with body fluids, cultural practices, and vaccination history were identified by means of a survey. The ethics committee of the Universidad de Antioquia approved the project. Results. Seventy five cases and 150 controls from 13 ethnic groups were surveyed. Amazonas contributed 49% of participants, 83% were women, and the median age of cases was 30 years (IQ range: 27-37). The associated factors were a family history of hepatitis B [adjusted OR: 2.61 (95% CI: 1.09-6.27)] and, in women, the number of pregnancies [adjusted OR: 1.61 (95% CI 1.02- 2.54)]. The vaccination history showed a protective effect, but the association was not significant. Conclusion. Aspects associated with family life and unprotected sexual relations seem to be responsible for the potential transmission of the virus. It was not possible to identify associated cultural practices. Innovative and differential strategies are required for indigenous people to achieve a reduction of HBV.

BACKGROUND: Malnutrition is a global problem that affects schoolchildren and can increase the risk of diseases in adulthood. Adult members of the Yaqui Indigenous group have been shown to have serious health problems, and Yaqui schoolchildren could therefore find themselves in a similar situation. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the nutritional status, lipid profile and associated factors in a sample of Yaqui schoolchildren. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A total of 109 Yaqui schoolchildren who lived in their localities of origin were recruited. Anthropometric measurements were carried out, a venous blood sample was extracted in fasting conditions, and several questionnaires were applied. RESULTS: The prevalence of overweight/obesity was 38.5%, with no cases of chronic malnutrition being recorded; 38.6% of the children had dyslipidemia. Fiber consumption was a protective factor against overweight/obesity, while fat intake was a risk factor. The physical activity score was found to be a protective factor against dyslipidemia, and the risk factors were BMI-for-age Z-scores, waist circumference, family history of dyslipidemia, educational level, and permanent employment. CONCLUSIONS: Yaqui schoolchildren equally suffer from a high proportion of overweight/obesity and dyslipidemia. The associated factors may be useful for the design of contextualized interventions for this population.
ANTECEDENTES: La malnutrición es un problema mundial que afecta a niños escolares, capaz de incrementar el riesgo de enfermedades en la edad adulta. Adultos yaquis han presentado graves problemas de salud, por lo que los escolares podrían encontrarse en una situación similar. OBJETIVO: Evaluar el estado nutricional, el perfil lipídico y los factores asociados en una muestra de escolares yaquis. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Se estudiaron 109 escolares habitantes de los pueblos originarios, en quienes se realizaron mediciones antropométricas, se extrajo una muestra de sangre venosa en condición de ayuno y se aplicaron cuestionarios. RESULTADOS: La prevalencia de sobrepeso/obesidad fue de 38.5 %, sin que se registraran casos de desnutrición crónica; 38.6 % de los escolares presentó dislipidemia. El consumo de fibra resultó ser un factor protector contra sobrepeso/obesidad y el consumo de grasa constituyó un factor de riesgo. La puntuación de actividad física resultó ser un factor protector contra dislipidemia y los factores de riesgo fueron puntuaciones Z del índice de masa corporal/edad, circunferencia de cintura, historia familiar de dislipidemias, nivel educativo y empleo permanente. CONCLUSIONES: Los escolares yaquis padecen por igual alta proporción de sobrepeso/obesidad y dislipidemia. Los factores asociados pueden resultar útiles para el diseño de intervenciones contextualizadas para esta población.

Introducción: los trastornos mentales comunes pueden tener un impacto significativo en la vida de los indígenas, pueden provocar discapacidad, disminución de la productividad y aumento de la mortalidad. Objetivo: determinar la prevalencia de trastornos mentales comunes en indígenas de cinco departamentos de Paraguay durante el 2022. Metodología: se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal en indígenas residentes en los departamentos de Alto Paraguay, Boquerón, Concepción, Caaguazú, Presidente Hayes de Paraguay. Para la recolección de datos se utilizó el Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). Este instrumento constó de 20 preguntas de tipo sí/no correspondientes al mes anterior a la entrevista. Resultados: participaron del estudio 779, indígenas de entre 18 a 69 años de edad. El alfa de Cronbach fue de 0,89, la medida de Kaiser-Meyers-Olkin fue 0,88. El SRQ+ fue del 25,80 % (201), el 14,51 % (113) tuvo síntomas de depresión, el 16,17 % (126) tuvo síntomas de ansiedad, y el 12,58 % (98) tuvo síntomas de psicosis. Conclusión: se encontró una alta prevalencia de trastornos mentales comunes, de acuerdo al Self Reporting Questionnaire, siendo el más frecuente al psicosis. Estos hallazgos subrayan la necesidad de mejorar el acceso a los servicios de salud mental para los indígenas de Paraguay.
Introduction: common mental disorders can have a significant impact on the lives of indigenous people, leading to disability, decreased productivity, and increased mortality. Objective: to determine the prevalence of common mental disorders in indigenous people from five departments of Paraguay in 2022. Methods: a cross-sectional, descriptive observational study was conducted in indigenous people residing in the departments of Alto Paraguay, Boquerón, Concepción, Caaguazú, and Presidente Hayes, Paraguay. Data were collected using the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ-20). This instrument consisted of 20 yes/no questions pertaining to the month prior to the interview. Results: a total of 779 indigenous people aged 18-69 years participated in the study. The Cronbach's alpha was 0.89, and the Kaiser-Meyers-Olkin measure was 0.88. The SRQ+ was 25.80 % (201), 14.51 % (113) had symptoms of depression, 16.17 % (126) had symptoms of anxiety, and 12.58 % (98) had symptoms of psychosis. Conclusion: a high prevalence of common mental disorders was found, according to the SRQ, with psychosis being the most common. These findings underscore the need to improve access to mental health services for indigenous people in Paraguay.

Introducción: la información en cáncer en poblaciones indígenas colombianas es escasa; de ahí que el objetivo de este estudio sea conocer las perspectivas comunitarias y de los prestadores de servicios de salud acerca del cáncer de cuello uterino (CaCU) en mujeres indígenas del Amazonas colombiano. Materiales y métodos: estudio cualitativo, derivado de una investigación de métodos mixtos de triangula-ción convergente. Se realizaron 40 entrevistas semiestructuradas que incluían profesionales de la salud y actores clave comunitarios representados en curacas, médicos tradicionales o chamanes, parteras, pro-motores de salud, auxiliares de salud pública, líderes y lideresas, abuelos, abuelas y mujeres indígenas en general. Para el análisis se utilizó la técnica de análisis de contenido. Resultados: emergieron cuatro categorías:1) concepciones y factores de riesgo alrededor del cáncer en general y el CaCU, 2) prácticas de cuidado y de atención occidentales y ancestrales para el CaCU, 3) dificultades socioculturales y del sistema de salud para la prevención y atención del CaCU y 4) recomendaciones para el fortalecimiento de la de prevención del CaCU. Conclusión: los participantes reconocen la citología cervicouterina como una forma de prevenir el cáncer y aunque los participantes mencionaron algunos aspectos culturales y personales que podrían constituirse en una barrera para la prevención y control del CaCU, se hizo hinca-pié en los problemas estructurales del sistema de salud, la falta de integración cultural y las dificultades de acceso al tamizaje, diagnóstico y tratamiento.
Introduction: Information on cancer in Colombian indigenous populations is scarce, the objective of this study was to know the community and health care providers' perspectives on cervical cancer (CaCU) in indigenous women of the Colombian Amazon. Materials and methods: Qualitative study, derived from a mixed methods research of convergent triangulation, 40 semi-structured interviews were conducted, including health professionals and key community actors represented by curacas, traditional doctors or shamans, midwives, health promoters, public health assistants, leaders, grandfathers, grandmothers, and indigenous women in general. The content analysis technique was used for the analysis. Results:Four categories emerged: (a) conceptions and risk factors surrounding cancer in general and CaCU; (b) western and ancestral care and attention practices for CaCU; (c) sociocultural and health system diffi-culties for the prevention and attention of CaCU, and (d) recommendations for strengthening CaCU pre-vention. Conclusion: Participants recognize cervical cytology as a way to prevent cancer and although participants mentioned some cultural and personal aspects that could constitute a barrier to cervical cancer prevention and control, the greatest emphasis was given to structural problems of the health system, lack of cultural integration and difficulties of access to screening, diagnosis and treatment.
Introdução: a informação sobre o câncer nas populações indígenas colombianas são escassas, o objetivo deste estudo foi conhecer as perspectivas da comunidade e dos prestadores de serviços de saúde sobre o câncer do colo do útero (CaCU), em mulheres indígenas da Amazônia colombiana. Materiais e méto-dos: estudo qualitativo, derivado de uma investigação de métodos mistos de triangulação convergente. Foram realizadas 40 entrevistas semiestruturadas que incluíram profissionais de saúde e principais atores comunitários representados em curacas, médicos tradicionais ou xamãs, parteiras, promotores de saúde, assistentes de saúde pública, lideranças, avôs, avós e mulheres indígenas em geral. Para a análise foi uti-lizada a técnica de análise de conteúdo. Resultados: emergiram quatro categorias, a) concepções e fatores de risco em torno do câncer em geral e do CaCU; b) cuidados e práticas de cuidado ocidentais e ancestrais para CaCU; c) dificuldades socioculturais e do sistema de saúde para a prevenção e cuidado do CaCU, e d) recomendações para fortalecer a prevenção de CaCU. Conclusão: as participantes reconhecem a citolo-gia cervical como forma de prevenção do câncer e embora as participantes tenham mencionado alguns aspectos culturais e pessoais que poderiam constituir uma barreira para a prevenção e controle do câncer do colo do útero, a maior ênfase foi dada aos problemas estruturais do sistema de saúde, a falta de integra-ção cultural e as dificuldades de acesso ao rastreio, ao diagnóstico e ao tratamento

Adultos yaquis han presentado graves problemas de salud, por lo que los escolares podrían encontrarse en una situación similar. Resultados: La prevalencia de sobrepeso/obesidad fue de 38.5 %, sin que se registraran casos de desnutrición crónica; 38.6 % de los escolares presentó dislipidemia. El consumo de fibra resultó ser un factor protector contra sobrepeso/obesidad y el consumo de grasa constituyó un factor de riesgo. La puntuación de actividad física resultó ser un factor protector contra dislipidemia y los factores de riesgo fueron puntuaciones Z del índice de masa corporal/edad, circunferencia de cintura, historia familiar de dislipidemias, nivel educativo y empleo permanente. Conclusiones: Los escolares yaquis padecen por igual alta proporción de sobrepeso/obesidad y dislipidemia. Los factores asociados pueden resultar útiles para el diseño de intervenciones contextualizadas para esta población.
Abstract Background: Malnutrition is a global problem that affects schoolchildren and can increase the risk of diseases in adulthood. Adult members of the Yaqui Indigenous group have been shown to have serious health problems, and Yaqui schoolchildren could therefore find themselves in a similar situation. Objective: To evaluate the nutritional status, lipid profile and associated factors in a sample of Yaqui schoolchildren. Material and methods: A total of 109 Yaqui schoolchildren who lived in their localities of origin were recruited. Anthropometric measurements were carried out, a venous blood sample was extracted in fasting conditions, and several questionnaires were applied. Results: The prevalence of overweight/obesity was 38.5%, with no cases of chronic malnutrition being recorded; 38.6% of the children had dyslipidemia. Fiber consumption was a protective factor against overweight/obesity, while fat intake was a risk factor. The physical activity score was found to be a protective factor against dyslipidemia, and the risk factors were BMI-for-age Z-scores, waist circumference, family history of dyslipidemia, educational level, and permanent employment. Conclusions: Yaqui schoolchildren equally suffer from a high proportion of overweight/obesity and dyslipidemia. The associated factors may be useful for the design of contextualized interventions for this population.

Introducción: consecuencia de la pandemia a causa del coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2), desde el 2020 ha aumen-tado la generación de los residuos con riesgo biológico o infeccioso, usados en los protocolos de biosegu-ridad por parte de la ciudadanía en general y el talento humano en salud. Ello generó un alto riesgo para salud y un aumento en el índice de contaminación ambiental y degradación de los recursos naturales, que hasta el momento ha superado las expectativas para su mitigación. Desarrollo: para contrarrestar el impacto del aumento en el índice de contaminación ambiental, se reflexiona sobre la necesidad de buscar acciones medioambientales para mitigar el daño y ampliar el concepto sobre el medio ambiente y la importancia de la interacción y codependencia del ser humano con la naturaleza. Se plantea la idea de retomar elementos conceptuales del conocimiento de las culturas indígenas sobre la visión holística del ambiente, partiendo de una cosmovisión indígena del buen vivir, donde el ambiente y el ser humano se encuentran en constante equilibrio y armonía. Conclusión: se pretende encontrar, desde la cosmovisión indígena, posibles abordajes conceptuales que mitiguen el impacto de la contaminación ambiental a causa del coronavirus, así como la formulación de acciones estratégicas para la adecuada gestión de estos residuos
Introduction: Since 2020, due to the the Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) pandemic, there has been an increase in generation of waste with biological or infectious risk used in biosafety protocols by the community and human resources in health, which, in turn, generates a high rate of pollution and environmental degradation of natural resources that has so far exceeded expectations for mitigation.Development: To reduce the impact of this problematic situation, a reflection was made to strengthen the current public policies and implement environmental actions that seek to mitigate the damage, but, above all, to change the concept of the environment and increase awareness about the importance of interac-tion and codependency of human beings with nature. The idea of retaking conceptual elements of the knowledge of indigenous cultures regarding the holistic vision of the environment is proposed, starting from a Quechua worldview of good living, where the environment and the human being are in constant balance and harmony. Conclusions:This study is intended to determine, from the indigenous worldview, the possible conceptual approaches that mitigate the environmental impact, as well as to formulate strategic actions for the adequate management of the resultant waste.
Introdução: como consequência da pandemia causada pelo Coronavírus (SARS-CoV-2), desde 2020 houve um aumento na geração de resíduos com risco biológico ou infeccioso utilizados em protocolos de bios-segurança pelo público em geral e talentos humanos em saúde; o que gerou um alto risco à saúde e um aumento no índice de contaminação ambiental e degradação dos recursos naturais que até agora tem superado as expectativas para sua mitigação. Desenvolvimento: para neutralizar o impacto do aumento do índice de contaminação ambiental, é feita uma reflexão sobre a necessidade de buscar ações ambien-tais para mitigar os danos, e ampliar o conceito de meio ambiente e a importância da interação e code-pendência do ser humano com a natureza. Propõe-se a ideia de retomar elementos conceituais do conhe-cimento das culturas indígenas sobre a visão holística do meio ambiente, partindo de uma cosmovisão indígena do bem viver, onde o meio ambiente e o ser humano estão em constante equilíbrio e harmonia. Conclusão: pretende-se encontrar a partir da visão de mundo indígena, possíveis abordagens conceituais que mitiguem o impacto da contaminação ambiental devido ao coronavírus, bem como a formulação de ações estratégicas para o gerenciamento adequado desses resíduos

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the need to develop an application with information about the measles vaccine for Warao indigenous people. Methods: This was a quantitative study conducted at the Espaço de Acolhimento Tapanã refugee shelter in the city of Belém, Pará, Brazil. The study sample was selected for convenience. Data were analyzed descriptively using Bioestat 5.0 software. Results: Twenty-one Warao indigenous individuals were interviewed. It was identified that 91% (n=20) had lost their vaccination card; 91% (n=20) stated they had lost their vaccination card more than three times, and 91% expressed interest in an application to store their vaccination information. Conclusions: The research provided important information for the development of a health application named WaraoMedI (Warao Measles Diversity Indigenous), as well as offered nursing professionals evidence about the challenges Warao indigenous refugees face in self-managing their vaccination information.
RESUMEN Objetivo: evaluar la necesidad de desarrollar una aplicación con información sobre la vacuna contra el sarampión para los indígenas Warao. Métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, realizado en el refugio de refugiados llamado Espacio de Acolhida Tapanã, en la ciudad de Belém, Pará, Brasil. La muestra del estudio fue por conveniencia. Los datos fueron analizados de forma descriptiva, mediante el software Bioestat 5.0. Resultados: se entrevistaron a 21 indígenas Warao. Se identificó que el 91% (n=20) perdieron su tarjeta de vacunación; el 91% (n=20) afirmó que perdió la tarjeta de vacunación más de 3 veces y el 91% afirmó que les gustaría una aplicación para guardar su información de vacunación. Conclusiones: La investigación proporcionó información importante para la construcción de una aplicación de salud llamada WaraoMedI (Warao Measles Diversity Indigenous), así como proporcionó a los profesionales de enfermería evidencia sobre las dificultades de los indígenas Warao refugiados para autogestionar información sobre vacunación

Métodos: Estudo quantitativo, realizado no abrigo de refugiados chamado Espaço de Acolhimento Tapanã, na cidade de Belém, Pará, Brasil. Amostra do estudo foi por conveniência. Os dados foram analisados de forma descritiva, por meio do software Bioestat 5.0. Resultados: foram entrevistados 21 indígenas Warao. Identificou-se que 91% (n=20) perderam o cartão de vacina; 91% (n=20) afirmaram que perderam o cartão de vacina mais de 3 vezes e 91% afirmaram que gostariam de um aplicativo para guardar suas informações de vacina. Resumen Este artículo pretende conocer cómo se pone en práctica el enfoque intercultural en el contexto del Modelo de Atención Integral de Salud con enfoque Familiar, Comunitario e Intercultural en Chugchilán (Ecuador), mediante los conocimientos, percepciones y prácticas que aplica el equipo de salud en la atención materno-infantil. Estudio etnográfico, en que participaron 21 profesionales sanitarios entre profesionales indígenas -técnicos de atención primaria de salud- y no indígenas del Centro de Salud. Las técnicas llevadas a cabo fueron observación participante y entrevistas en profundidad. Los datos generados se analizaron mediante análisis del contenido temático. El análisis de los datos evidenció que la hegemonía del modelo biomédico operante podría constituir una limitación en el desarrollo del enfoque intercultural, sin embargo, el personal de salud indígena, desde su rol ambiguo y contrario al modelo biomédico, emerge como un elemento contrahegemónico y articulador real entre los saberes biomédicos e indígenas en contextos interculturales de atención-autoatención.
Abstract This article aims to discover the intercultural practical approach in the context of the Comprehensive Healthcare Model within family, community, and interculturality in Chugchilán, Ecuador, via the recognition of knowledge, perceptions, and practices applied by the health team in maternal and child care. In this ethnographic study 21 health professionals, both Indigenous and non-indigenous from Chugchilán Health Center have participated, among the Indigenous health care workers were the primary health care technicians. The techniques applied were participant observation and in-depth interviews. The observed scenarios were the Health Center and excursion with community to record their daily life experiences. The generated data were examined using thematic content analysis. It showed that the operating biomedical hegemonic model could constitute one of the main limitations in the development of the intercultural approach. Even though Indigenous healthcare team holds an ambiguous and sometimes contrary role to the biomedical model, it has emerged as a counter-hegemonic element and real conciliator between biomedical and indigenous knowledge in intercultural contexts of care-self-care.

Objetivo Este artigo propõe repensar a psicologia social a partir dos saberes indígenas, considerando que eles interrogam as políticas de subjetivação derivadas da concepção binária de natureza e cultura que fundamenta a modernidade. Método Trata-se de um artigo teórico que analisa as contribuições indígenas para a descolonização do pensamento psicológico, considerando o contexto das mudanças climáticas. É problematizada a abrangência do que se entende como social, assim como a quem a subjetividade é atribuída ou não na psicologia. Resultados A psicologia reproduz as dicotomias ocidentais ao basear-se numa natureza fixa, externa a si, cujo social é concebido a partir do excepcionalismo humano. Para os povos que compreendem a vida como efeito de relacionalidades entre seres humanos e não-humanos, essas categorias não fazem o menor sentido. Conclusão A complexidade dos saberes e o protagonismo indígena frente às lutas por terra e território num contexto de mudanças climáticas apontam para a urgência de reterritorialização da psicologia social.
Objective This article proposes to rethink social psychology based on indigenous knowledge, considering that it interrogates the policies of subjectivation derived from the binary conception of nature and culture that underpins modernity. Method This is a theoretical article that analyzes indigenous contributions to the decoloniza-tion of psychological thought, considering the context of climate change. The scope of what is understood as social is problematized, as well as to whom subjectivity is attributed or not in psychology. Results Psychology reproduces Western dichotomies by being based on a fixed nature, ex-ternal to itself, whose social nature is conceived based on human exceptionalism. For people who understand life as the effect of relationalities between human and non-human beings, these categories do not make any sense. Conclusion The complexity of knowledge and indigenous protagonism in the fight for land and territory in a context of climate change point to the urgency of reterritorializing social psychology.

Objetivo O suicídio indígena no Brasil é um fenômeno epidemiológico, complexo e multifatorial, e a busca pelos seus fatores de risco ainda não trouxe respostas conclusivas. A partir de revisão de literatura, buscou-se levantar os fatores explicativos para o suicídio segundo o ponto de vista dos indígenas a respeito desse fenômeno. Método Adotou-se o modelo PRISMA nas bases de dados Scientific Electronic Library Online, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde e na base de Periódicos da Capes, entre agosto e novembro de 2022, com os descritores "indígena AND suicídio", "índio AND suicídio" e "indígena OR suicídio OR Brasil". Resultados Dos 235 artigos encontrados, restaram 14 após terem sido adotados critérios de exclusão e inclusão, a partir dos quais foram elaboradas as seguintes categorias que indicam os fatores explicativos dos indígenas ao suicídio, sendo os primeiros três compartilhados com as explicações científicas ocidentais: perdas do bem viver, especialmente pelos jovens; consumo de bebidas alcoólicas; abandono das tradições indígenas; universo simbólico e mitos; feitiço e estrago; suicídio coletivo. Conclusão Foram tecidas críticas à visão meramente ocidental e à psicologia, apontando a necessidade de integrar as perspectivas indígenas sobre o fenômeno às interpretações científicas.
Objective Indigenous suicide in Brazil is an epidemiological, complex, and multifactorial phenomenon for which conclusive answers to risk factors remain elusive. Based on a literature review, the objective is to identify factors that contribute to the phenomenon of suicide from the perspective of Indigenous people. Method The PRISMA model was employed, and literature was sought in the Scientific Electronic Library Online, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde, and the Periódicos Capes databases between August and November 2022, utilizing the Portuguese descriptors "indígena AND suicídio" (indigenous AND suicide), "índio AND suicídio" (indian AND suicide), and "indígena OR suicídio OR Brasil" (indigenous OR suicide OR Brazil). Results The search yielded 235 articles, and after applying exclusion and inclusion criteria, 14 were retained. These articles formed the basis for identifying several categories which indicate the explanatory factors of indigenous people's suicide, the first three of which are shared with Western scientific explanations: loss of "good living", especially among young people; alcohol consumption; abandonment of Indigenous traditions; symbolic universe and myths; witchcraft and harm; and collective suicide. Conclusion Our analysis critiques the exclusively Western perspective and psychological approach, emphasizing the need to embrace Indigenous perspectives on this phenomenon.

Objetivo Em 2021, povos indígenas Pataxó, Pataxó Hãhãhãe e Tupinambá foram atingidos por inundações intensas na Bahia. A situação exigiu respostas imediatas das equipes locais de saúde, contando com a assessoria de especialistas em desastres e emergências em saúde pública. Esse estudo de caso aborda o processo de construção de linhas de cuidado ao Bem-Viver dos povos originários afetados, por meio do trabalho colaborativo entre etnias indígenas e equipes de políticas públicas de saúde. Método Foram analisados registros de reuniões, um curso de formação para profissionais de saúde indígena e três documentos de referência. Resultados Abordou-se possibilidades e desafios no cuidado ao Bem-Viver na fase de resposta pós-desastres e emergências em saúde pública, com a garantia da especificidade e do protagonismo das comunidades atendidas. Conclusão Foram apresentadas considerações para o processo de construção de linhas de cuidado ao Bem-Viver de povos originários, buscando oferecer subsídios à conformação de políticas públicas consoantes às particularidades sócio-histórico-culturais de cada etnia.
Objective In 2021, the indigenous communities Pataxó, Pataxó Hãhãhãe and Tupinambá, in the state of Bahia, Brazil, were hit by intense floods. The situation required immediate response from local health professionals, with advice from experts in public health disasters and emergencies. This case study focuses on the development of lines of care for the "Buen Vivir" of affected original peoples through collaborative work between indigenous ethnic groups and public health policy professionals. Method Analysis of the records of meetings, a training course for indigenous health professionals and three reference documents was carried out. Results Possibilities and challenges for assuring the "Buen Vivir" in the post-disaster and public health emergency response phase were addressed, guaranteeing the specificity and protagonism of the communities served. Conclusion Contributions were presented along the lines of care construction processes for the "Buen Vivir" of indigenous peoples, pursuing subsidies for public policies in accordance with the socio-historical-cultural particularities of each ethnic group.

Objetivo Em meio a investidas assimilacionistas, os Xavante determinaram a migração de crianças para Ribeirão Preto/SP, no intuito de estudarem os brancos. Um dos protagonistas recentes desse intercâmbio experienciou intenso sofrimento psíquico, diagnosticado e tratado pela medicina branca. Apresentou melhoras expressivas, contudo, somente quando retornou em definitivo à aldeia de origem. Objetivou-se, nesse contexto, ultrapassar a narrativa biomédica canônica, evidenciando como a consideração de múltiplas formas de "tradução" permite vislumbrar um fenômeno indígena em sua complexidade. Método Para esse efeito, foram analisadas dez entrevistas não estruturadas realizadas com o jovem e alguns de seus principais interlocutores no meio urbano (família de acolhimento, colegas de escola, espaço religioso). Resultados Emergiram narrativas plurais que incidem sobre o vivenciado, suprimidas pela discursividade universalizante biomédica. Conclusão O jovem experienciou um processo de negociação entre universos de significação, cuja síntese culminou no fortalecimento da autoafirmação Xavante e na apropriação de uma voz própria, de permeio às demais.
Objective In the midst of assimilationist onslaughts, the Xavante determined the migration of children to Ribeirão Preto/SP, where they would grow and observe the white people. One of the recent protagonists of this migration experienced intense psychic suffering, diagnosed and treated by western medicine. He showed significant improvements; however, only when he finally returned to the village of origin he got completely rehabilitated. The objective of this work was to go beyond the canonical biomedical narrative, showing how the consideration of multiple forms of "translation" allows us to glimpse an indigenous phenomenon in its complexity. Method For this purpose, ten unstructured interviews conducted with this young indigenous individual and some of his main interlocutors in the urban environment (host family, schoolmates, religious space) were reviewed. Results Plural narratives have emerged that focus on what is experienced but it is suppressed by the universalizing biomedical discourse. Conclusion The youth experienced a process of negotiation between universes of meaning, whose synthesis culminated in enhancing the Xavante peoples self-assertion and appropriating their own voice, among others.

Objetivo: analisar as condições de saúde bucal de indígenas com diabetes. Método: estudo transversal, realizado na Terra Indígena na região norte do Paraná. Os dados foram coletados mediante entrevista, exame intraoral e consulta a prontuários de indígenas da etnia Kaingang e submetidos à análise descritiva e inferencial. Resultados: participaram 45 indígenas, com idade média de 56,3 ± 12,4 anos, sendo 53,3% do sexo feminino. Em relação ao risco em saúde bucal, 31,1% apresentaram alto risco sendo que 95,6% deles tinham índice muito alto e alto (≥ 5) de dentes cariados, perdidos e obturados, 42,2% referiram xerostomia, 66,7% diagnóstico de doença periodontal e 24,4% eram edêntulos totais. Conclusão: a condição de saúde bucal de indígenas com diabetes reflete a necessidade de priorizar ações de educação preventiva em saúde bucal pelas equipes de saúde da família
Objective: to analyze the oral health conditions of indigenous people with diabetes. Method: cross-sectional study, carried out in the Indigenous Land in the northern region of Paraná. Data were collected through interviews, intraoral examinations and con-sultation of medical records of indigenous people of the Kaingang ethnic group and subjected to descriptive and inferential analysis. Results: 45 indigenous people participated, with an average age of 56.3 ± 12.4 years, 53.3% of whom were female. In relation to the risk in oral health, 31.1% presented a high risk, with 95.6% of them having a very high and high rate (≥ 5) of decayed, lost and filled teeth, 42.2% reported xerostomia, 66.7 % diagnosed with periodontal disease and 24.4% were completely edentulous. Conclusion:the oral health condition of indigenous people with diabetes reflects the need to prioritize preventive oral health education actions by family health teams

Resumo Este artigo tem por objetivo sistematizar e analisar em perspectiva histórica as discussões que permearam o tema da saúde indígena em interface com a demografia dessas populações, partindo da dimensão política que a quantificação dos povos indígenas assumiu durante a ditadura militar no Brasil. Abrangendo um extenso período que se estende do estabelecimento do Serviço de Proteção aos Índios em 1910 até o fim dos anos 1980, busca-se oferecer uma visão ampliada sobre o tema. O foco da análise recai especialmente nos anos 1970, destacando os atores envolvidos neste debate: lideranças indígenas, indigenistas, acadêmicos, profissionais de saúde e missionários.
Abstract This article aims to systematize and analyze, from a historical perspective, the discussions that permeated the topic of indigenous health in interface with the demography of these populations, based on the political dimension that the quantification of indigenous peoples assumed during the military dictatorship in Brazil. Covering an extensive period that extends from the establishment of the Indian Protection Service in 1910 until the end of the 1980s, this article offers a comprehensive view of the topic. The analysis focuses primarily on the 1970s, highlighting the actors involved in this debate: indigenous leaders, indigenists, academics, health professionals, and missionaries.

ABSTRACT Objective: To review malnutrition, hunger, anemia, food insecurity and obesity conditions of indigenous peoples in Brazil from 2013 to 2023. Methods: The study combines a sociohistorical approach in the analysis of available government and civil society documents and websites and a bibliographical search in Web of Science, PubMed and Scopus databases, on malnutrition, hunger, anemia, food insecurity and obesity among indigenous peoples in Brazil, from 2013 to 2023. Results: The living conditions scenario is unfavorable for indigenous peoples in Brazil, in absolute and comparative terms with the non-indigenous people, revealing great inequities in health. In the political and socioeconomic framework, the dismantling of state actions and public policies concerning food and nutritional security, the worsening of territorial violence and other important setbacks in environmental issues and on the fundamental rights of indigenous peoples stand out. Conclusion: The inequalities in health profiles and living conditions of indigenous and non-indigenous people in this country and globally, refer to historical-colonial trajectories marked by violence, racism and marginalization. In contemporary Brazil, the possibility of implementing the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition, Food and Nutrition Security and food sovereignty of indigenous peoples has as a structural condition the discontinuation of systematic violations of their lives and territories, as well as a set of specific rights, including health rights, participatively and strenuously obtained in the wake of the country's redemocratization.
RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar o cenário de desnutrição, fome, anemia, insegurança alimentar e obesidade entre os povos indígenas no Brasil no período de 2013 a 2023. Métodos: O estudo combina a abordagem analítica sociohistórica na análise de documentos disponíveis nas páginas governamentais e de organizações da sociedade civil à busca de artigos científicos nas bases de dados Web of Science, PubMed e Scopus, sobre desnutrição, fome, anemia, insegurança alimentar e obesidade entre povos indígenas no Brasil, de 2013 a 2023. Resultados: O cenário deste conjunto de agravos se apresenta francamente desfavorável para os povos indígenas no Brasil, em termos absolutos e comparativos com o segmento não indígena, revelando grandes iniquidades em saúde. No contexto político e socioeconômico, destacam-se o desmonte das ações estatais e das políticas públicas concernentes à segurança alimentar e nutricional no país, o agravamento da violência territorial e outros importantes retrocessos nas questões ambientais e de reconhecimento de direitos fundamentais dos povos indígenas. Conclusão: As iniquidades entre perfis sanitários e condições de vida de indígenas e não indígenas no país e globalmente remetem à trajetória histórico-colonial marcada pela violência, racismo e marginalização. No Brasil contemporâneo, a possibilidade de realização do Direito Humano à Alimentação e Nutrição Adequadas, da Segurança Alimentar e Nutricional e soberania alimentar de indígenas tem como condição estrutural o fim das violações sistemáticas de suas vidas e territórios, como de um de corpo de direitos específicos, inclusive de saúde, participativamente conquistados na esteira da redemocratização do país.
RESUMEN
Introducción: la tuberculosis es una enfermedad de transmisión aérea que puede afectar a personas de cualquier edad. Es particularmente común en poblaciones vulnerables, como las comunidades indígenas. Se estima que en el mundo hay aproximadamente 370 millones de indígenas, lo que representa menos del 5% de la población global. Sin embargo, no se conoce con precisión la carga ni el estado actual de la tuberculosis en estos pueblos. Objetivo: describir los indicadores del programa de control de tuberculosis en la población de la parcialidad indígena Maka de un municipio de Paraguay durante los años 2016 al 2020. Metodología: se realizó un estudio descriptivo, observacional, retrospectivo, con enfoque cuantitativo. Las variables del estudio fueron demográficas (edad, sexo, escolaridad, estado civil, actividad laboral) y de indicadores de seguimiento (número de casos en seguimiento, tasa de captación del Programa nacional de control de la tuberculosis. Resultados: fueron registrados 977 pacientes, predominando la edad de 31 a 40 años (37,67%), del sexo femenino en 53,33%, siendo 43% sin estudios escolares. Según los indicadores, se han registrado 900 casos de tuberculosis en ese periodo de estudio, lo que representa 32% del total de personas con síntomas respiratorios en esa comunidad. Se identificaron 1200 individuos con síntomas respiratorios, equivalente al 22% de la población total. De los casos positivos, 858 pacientes (95%) están recibiendo tratamiento, mientras que 72 pacientes (5%) han abandonado el mismo. Conclusión: los indicadores de medición de la eficiencia y eficacia del Programa nacional de lucha contra la tuberculosis es eficiente y eficaz para brindar atención y resolver los problemas de salud de la población indígena Maka.
Introduction: Tuberculosis is an airborne disease that can affect people of any age. It is particularly common in vulnerable populations, such as indigenous communities. It is estimated that there are approximately 370 million indigenous people worldwide, representing less than 5% of the global population. However, neither the burden nor the current status of tuberculosis in these populations is precisely known. Objective: To describe the indicators of the tuberculosis control program in the Maka indigenous population of a municipality in Paraguay from 2016 to 2020. Methodology: A descriptive, observational, retrospective study with a quantitative approach was conducted. The study variables included demographic factors (age, sex, education, marital status, employment) and follow-up indicators (number of cases under follow-up, detection rate of the National Tuberculosis Control Program). Results: Nine hundred seventy-seven patients were registered, predominantly between 31 and 40 years of age (37.67%), 53.33% were female and 43% had no schooling. According to the indicators, 900 cases of tuberculosis have been recorded in the study period, representing 32% of the total number of people with respiratory symptoms in this community. A total of 1200 individuals with respiratory symptoms were identified, equivalent to 22% of the total population. Of the positive cases, 858 patients (95%) are receiving treatment, while 72 patients (5%) have abandoned treatment. Conclusion: The indicators for measuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the National Tuberculosis Control Program indicate that it is efficient and effective in providing care and solving the health problems of the Maka indigenous population.
