El mucocele es una lesión quística benigna, que se desarrolla en el interior de los senos perinasales por la obstrucción de su drenaje natural en el curso de los procesos inflamatorios, traumas y cirugías. Se presentan tres casos con mucocele frontoetmoidal y expansión intraorbitaria, los cuales fueron atendidos en el Hospital Hermanos Ameijeiras entre los meses de febrero a diciembre del a±o 2013. El propósito del presente estudio es el análisis de los resultados terapéuticos obtenidos y determinar la posible influencia de la vía de abordaje utilizada sobre la efectividad terapéutica y la recidiva tumoral en cada uno de estos pacientes(AU)

CLINIC CASE: Peribulbar anesthesia is used in daily practice during cataract surgery. It is a safe technique, but not without complications. We present the case of a man who had an orbital abscess secondary to peribulbar anesthesia that led to the perforation of an unknown frontoethmoidal mucocele. DISCUSSION: Orbital abscess secondary to an iatrogenic mucocele perforation after anesthesia is a periorbital complication not described. The detection of the orbital process, intensive medical treatment and monitoring for signs of deterioration are vital in preventing serious complications.

Treatment of frontal sinus disease represents one of the most challenging aspects of endoscopic sinus surgery. Frontal sinus mucocele drainage may be an exception to the rule because in many instances, the expansion of the mucocele widens the frontal sinus recess and renders surgical drainage technically undemanding. Recently, there has been an increased interest in in-office procedures in otolaryngology because of patient satisfaction and substantial savings of time and cost for both patients and physicians. Similarly, the past few years have witnessed an increased use of balloon dilation devices in sinus surgery. Previously, we have described the in-office use of this device in treating patients who failed prior conventional frontal sinusotomy in the operating room. In this report, we describe our step-by-step in-office experience using this tool for drainage of a large frontal sinus mucocele.
RESUMEN
We report a case of a giant frontoethmoidal mucocele extending to the orbit and anterior cranial fossa. Clinically, the patient had an insidious onset of clinical presentation with no intracranial symptoms. We present its CT, MRI and histpathological features with a brief review of literature. Various surgical approaches are also discussed.
