RESUMEN

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave combined with warm acupuncture for external humeral epicondylitis. Methods: Eighty-two patients with external humeral epicondylitis were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group. Patients in the control group were treated with extracorporeal shock waves while those in observation group with warm acupuncture on the basis of the control group. Patients in both groups were evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand questionnaire (DASH) before and after treatment. The inflammatory factors such as IL-6, IL-10, TNF-ɑ and clinical outcomes were contrasted before and after treatment. Results: There were statistically significant differences in VAS score, MEPS score and DASH score between the two groups before and after treatment (P<0.05), and the improvement of each score in the observation group was more obvious than that in the control group. After treatment, the inflammatory factors of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The decrease of inflammatory factors in the observation group was more obvious than that in the control group. The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Extracorporeal shock wave combined with warm acupuncture could effectively improve the pain symptoms and dysfunction of external humeral epicondylitis and reduce the expression of inflammatory factors, and its effect may be better than that of extracorporeal shock wave treatment alone. RESUMEN

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of successive trigger needling plus motorial needling in treating external humeral epicondylitis.Method Sixty-two eligible subjects with external humeral epicondylitis were randomized into a treatment group and a control group,31 cases each. The treatment group was intervened by successive trigger needling plus motorial needling, and the control group was treated with ordinary acupuncture. The two groups were both treated once a day. After 10 sessions of treatment, the changes of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Activities of Daily Living (ADL) scores were observed, and the clinical efficacies were compared between the two groups.Result The VAS and ADL scores were changed significantly respectively after 1-week and 2-week treatment in both groups (P<0.05).After the treatment, the changes of VAS and ADL scores in the treatment group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05).The total effective rate was 96.8% in the treatment group versus 93.5% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Successive trigger needling plus motorial needling is an effective approach in treating external humeral epicondylitis, and it can improve the ADL.

A therapeutic intervention in 100 patients with 20-59 years, presenting external humeral epicondylitis, assisted in the Rehabilitation Department of "Eduardo Mesa Llull" Community Polyclinic, in II Frente municipality, Santiago de Cuba province was carried out from September, 2013 to March, 2014, to evaluate the effectiveness of the acupunctural treatment in them. The sample was divided into 2 groups of 50 members each, randomly selected. Those of the study group were treated with acupuncture and Trabert current and those of the control group received Trabert current only. The age group 40-49 years (64.0%), the female sex (66.0%) and the service workers (56.0%) prevailed as main results. RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the clinical therapeutic effect of filiform fire needling on tennis elbow.Method Eighty patients with tennis elbow were randomly allocated to a filiform fire needling group of 30 cases, a block group of 20 cases and an electroacupuncture group of 30 cases. The treatment group received. Pain severity was scored using the VAS after one and two weeks and one month of treatment. The therapeutic effects were evaluated and compared after one month of treatment.Result The total efficacy rate was 93.3% in the filiform fire needling group, 60.0% in the block group and 50.0% in the electroacupuncture group; there was a statistically significant difference among the three groups (P0.05). The VAS score decreased significantly in the block group (P0.05) after one week of treatment compared with before. The VAS score decreased significantly in the filiform fire needling and block groups (P0.05) after two weeks of treatment compared with before. There was no statistically significant posttreatment difference in the VAS score between the filiform fire needling and block groups (P>0.05) but there was such a difference between the filiform fire needling or block group and the electroacupuncture group (P<0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the VAS score in the filiform fire needling and block groups (P<0.01) and also in the electroacupuncture group (P<0.05) between before and after one month of treatment. There was a statistically significant difference in the VAS score after one month of treatment between the filiform fire needling group and the block or electroacupuncture group (P<0.05) and between the block and electroacupuncture groups (P<0.05). The results of the study showed that filiform fire needling, local drug blockage and electroacupuncture all had clinically a better therapeutic effect on tennis elbow and a better improving effect on the symptoms in the patients. Filiform fire needling produced a marked therapeutic effect. Its effect was superior to those of block therapy and electroacupuncture. Conclusion Filiform fire needling is a definitely effective way to treat tennis elbow.

RESUMEN

ObjectiveTo investigate the pain relieving degree and the comprehensive efficacy of pricking-cupping bloodletting plus microwave therapy in treating intractable tennis elbow.MethodSeventy-two patients meeting the inclusion criteria were randomly allocated, using a random number table, to a treatment group (pricking-cupping bloodletting plus microwave therapy,n=36) and a control group (electroacupuncture plus microwave therapy,n=36). The pain relieving degree and the overall therapeutic effect were assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and theCriteria of Syndrome Diagnosis and Therapeutic Effect in Traditional Chinese Medicinein the patients after treatment.ResultThe pain relieving degree and the overall therapeutic effect were more remarkable in the treatment group than in the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionPricking-cupping bloodletting plus microwave therapy can effectively heighten the pain relieving degree and the overall therapeutic effect in treating patients with intractable tennis elbow.

RESUMEN

Objective] The two-step massage treatment of tennis elbow and simple massage therapy clinical curative effect around the elbow. [Method] A total of 80 cases of external humeral epicondylitis were randomly divided into the treatment group(42 cases) and control group(38 cases). The treatment group were treated with the combination of the neck and elbows. The control group was treated only with simple elbow massage. [Results] The treatment group cure rate was 71.4%, the total efficiency of 92.9%;control group, the cure rate was 34.2%, the total effective rate was 71%. The comparison between the 2 groups, the cure rate and total effective rate differences were significant( P<0.01, P<0.05). [Conclusion]Two-step massage has better cure effect on external humeral cpicondylitis.
