RESUMEN

To develop and validate a classification of non-technical skills (NTS) in military aviation, a study was conducted, using data from real operations of F16 aircraft formations. Phase 1 developed a NTS classification based on the literature review (e.g. NOTECHS) and a workshop with pilots. The Non-TEChnical-MILitary-Skills (NOTEMILS) scheme was tested in Phase 2 in a series of Principal Component Analysis with data from After-Action-Review sessions (i.e. 900 records from a wide range of operations). The NTS were found to make a good prediction of Mission Essential Components (R2 > 0.80) above the effect of experience. Phase 3 undertook a reliability analysis where three raters assessed the NOTEMILS scheme with good results (i.e. all rwg > 0.80). To look into the consistency of classifications, another test indicated that, at least, two out of three raters were in agreement in over 70% of the assessed flight segments. Practitioner Summary: A classification scheme of Non-Technical Skills (NTS) was developed and tested for reliability in military aviation operations. The NTS scheme is a valuable tool for assessing individual and team skills of F-16 pilots in combat. It is noteworthy that the tool had a good capability of predicting Mission Essential Competencies.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To obtain consensus amongst midwifery experts globally about the essential competencies for basic midwifery practice. DESIGN: A modified Delphi approach, involving a three-round online survey. PARTICIPANTS: Midwifery leaders, educators and regulators in all ICM regions, along with representatives of organisations affiliated to ICM. METHODS: The research team worked closely with a Core Working Group and a Task Force. An initial set of competencies and components was developed through a content analysis of existing competency documents and presented to participants in Round 1 of the survey. Items identified as essential by at least 85% of participants were endorsed. Remaining items and new items identified by participants were returned to participants in Rounds 2 and 3 for further rating. FINDINGS: The study achieved a wide sample representative of midwifery experts across all ICM regions and countries, language groups, and income categories. Only a small number of competencies relating to the wider role of the midwife were endorsed as essential competencies. Competencies and components relating to professional and personal attributes were extended. Although most competencies and components relating to core midwifery practice were endorsed as essential competencies, several were rejected relating to abortion-related care, cancer screening, infertility, and gynaecology. Findings are, nevertheless, highly consistent with the scope of practice delineated in the current 2010/2013 version of the ICM Essential Competencies for Basic Midwifery Practice. KEY CONCLUSIONS AND IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The extension of professional and personal attributes reflects the recent emphasis on respectful midwifery care. The rejection of most of the additional competencies and components relating to the wider role of the midwife and endorsement of most of those considered to relate to core midwifery practice indicates that the scope of midwifery practice remains essentially unchanged through 2017.

RESUMEN

The human genome, which is the complete set of human genetic information, significantly contributes to the health of an individual; it can lead to single or complex medical conditions (including cancer and heart disease) also affected by environmental and behavioral risk factors. To date, the challenges related to human genomics and nursing science focus on the following areas: (1) curriculum application, (2) advanced clinical practice in specific fields, and (3) hands-on bioscience laboratory skills. This review article summarizes current efforts and addresses critical components in nursing genomics.

This descriptive and propositive article has the objective of addressing the teaching process of the collective sports games, assuming that they should be understood in view of the ontological nature of the game, of the organizational process and of the inherent logic of collective games. We propose the teaching process by considering the idea of essential competencies as a reference, which stem from the interaction between structural and functional references, which balance the game logic. Thus we have laid the foundation for the development of a methodology outlined by the game and by the parameters for structuring the syllabus of competencybased training
