RESUMEN
This research determines the critical factors for implementing ergonomics programs related to health and safety benefits in the manufacturing industries of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, from the middle/upper management perspective. The sample was non-probabilistically selected for convenience, comprising individuals in middle and senior management positions. An original questionnaire containing 105 items measuring five latent variables was developed, reviewed, and validated for data collection. The sample size totalled 206 participants. Structural equation models using partial least squares (PLS) were employed to analyse interrelationships between variables. This research demonstrated acceptable reliability and quality indices. Management commitment emerged as the most significant factor, exerting the highest direct, indirect, and total effects on the work environment and prevention activities, significantly enhancing health and safety benefits. Consequently, manufacturing companies in Juarez City must strive to improve management commitment in the working environment and prevention activities since both strategies can increase employee health and safety benefits.
This paper presents a method focusing on the critical success factors of ergonomics programs associated with health and safety benefits in Mexico's manufacturing industries. The study uses structural equation modelling from the middle/upper management perspective. The proposed approach has potential applications across various industries.
RESUMEN
Psychological flexibility has recently attracted the attention of researchers in the field of sleep disorders; therefore, in the study, psychological flexibility was evaluated as a predictor or factor related to the presence/severity of insomnia. We included 2218 individuals selected from the randomized-control trial for behavioural therapy for insomnia and cross-sectional studies, including 1797 individuals with insomnia and 421 controls without insomnia. All participants completed the DSM-5-based insomnia diagnosis interview, Insomnia Severity Index, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and Acceptance Action Questionnaire-II. Linear regression and multinomial logistic regression models were used. Sex, education, occupation, marital status, anxiety, depression and psychological inflexibility were possible predictors or factors associated with the severity of insomnia. Multivariate linear regression analysis demonstrated that sex (ð½ = 0.88; t = 2.80; p = 0.005), depression (ð½ = 0.41; t = 10.7; p < 0.001), anxiety (ð½ = 0.58; t = 14.1; p < 0.001) and psychological inflexibility (ð½ = 0.09; t = 5.07; p < 0.001) were predictors of insomnia. The results of the multinomial logistic regression demonstrate that, in comparison to the absence of insomnia, insomnia at all levels (mild, moderate and severe) was associated with sex, anxiety and depression. Psychological inflexibility was only associated with severe insomnia (odds ratio = 1.04). These findings are important from a public health perspective because behavioural strategies designed to treat insomnia with a focus on psychological flexibility are low-cost and may help improve sleep quality in adults with insomnia, which also influences mental health.
RESUMEN
Occupational health is one of the aspects significantly affected during crisis periods. It is essential to learn about the factors that improve organizational capacity in coping with such shocks. This study investigates how the working environment of a family business influences job satisfaction during crises. Conducting a survey with 516 employees at the peak of the pandemic, the research utilizes structural equation analysis, revealing that family business environments can mitigate burnout, enhance affective commitment, and consequently, boost job satisfaction. The study highlights the need to manage burnout and utilize resources, such as employee commitment, for family firms to sustain job satisfaction amidst disruptions. It deepens the comprehension of family businesses' crisis response, emphasizing the significance of human resource commitment and management.
Abstract In January 2024, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced the adoption of the term "favelas and urban communities" to refer to different popular territories in the country. Formed from specific geographical, historical and cultural processes, these territories have been marked by stereotypes and stigmas related not only to their material conditions, but also to their populations. The nomenclature "subnormal agglomerations", in force for approximately four decades, was changed after deep institutional reflection and dialog with social actors. The aim of this article is to discuss the process of changing the official nomenclature, taking as a starting point the process of constitution of these territories in the social imagination, and the challenges inherent in the change made by the Institute. The aim was also to point out the mechanisms of power underlying discursive constructions, especially when they come from state institutions such as the IBGE. It was concluded that the position taken by the agency met the historical demands of the social groups linked to these territories and represented the assumption of a political commitment by the Institute towards these actors in order to fulfill its institutional mission.

Abstract The aim of this article is to outline the organizational commitment and entrenchment profiles of civil servants from the Brazilian Federal Revenue Office, comparing sociodemographic and occupational variables in the identified profiles. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out, collecting data via an online survey responded by 1,126 civil servants. Latent profile analysis was used to study the data, revealing four distinct organizational attachment profiles: i) moderately attached; ii) low attachment (predominantly uncommitted); iii) low attachment; iv) attached (predominantly committed). Most of the participants belonged to profiles with moderate and high levels of affective commitment. A shorter length of service and younger age predicted low attachment profiles, while senior positions were associated with profiles with higher levels of commitment and adjustment to social position (a dimension of entrenchment). Identifying these differences in profiles is a relevant contribution to more personalized and focused management of people and relationships.
Introduction: Workers in the agribusiness administrative sector are susceptible to occupational risks in their work process, such as: physical, chemical, accident and ergonomic, biological and psychosocial such as fatigue, tension and pressure at work. These conditions influence the physical and mental health of these workers, interfering with the performance of work activities and quality of life at work. As a result of these factors, it is important to find ways to provide a better quality of life and satisfaction in the occupational environment, as well as promoting mental health among agribusiness workers. Objective: To reflect the organizational strategies of occupational nurses to promote mental health in the work environment of agribusiness workers. Method: Reflective, descriptive study, which reflects the experiences in developing actions of a multidisciplinary team from an agribusiness company located in more than three Brazilian states and has 1200 workers. The idea of caring for the mental health of agribusiness workers arose from the observation of the occupational nurse in the workers' recurring search for the people and management department, with reports of problems experienced inside and outside the company. Faced with this problem, the need arose to provide workers with care focused on mental health, through welcoming and directing them to specialized care within the company itself. In view of this, a pillar called care for emotional health was structured within the Quality of Life at Work Program, already existing in the company, with individual assistance modalities, conversation groups and in an online format. Results: With the publicity of the program, workers were more comfortable seeking assistance from the program's psychologist and were interested in conversation groups. During one year, 238 workers sought assistance. From then on, the promotion of care for workers' mental health occurred through the maintenance of individual care groups. Conclusion: Mental health care in the corporate context is essential to promote the physical and psychological integrity of workers. However, it is necessary for the company to invest more in informative campaigns with care for mental health, as during one year, only 19.83% of workers sought the services proposed by the company, in addition to the implementation of a health program of workers, values the profession of occupational nurses and provides support for the continuity and quality of care for those they assist.

Infectious diseases socially imply individual and community medical problems. Therefore, they require actions aimed at social processes that affect the well-being of the individuals without losing sight of social groups. Faced with this panorama, we ask ourselves: is there a direct relationship between ethics and infectious diseases? To elucidate an answer, let us remember the peak period of the COVID-19 pandemic when guidelines based on ethical principles were issued to facilitate medical decisions on allocating scarce resources in periods of maximum demand. In those moments, since there was no inclusive component of society, the decisions made produced massive criticism. The reactions demonstrated the need to analyze in detail the criteria that had been considered correct. Consequently, we affirm that bioethical principles are transcendental in medical decisions and must be examined, not only for the individual but also with a view to public health. Moreover, the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) epidemic has lived with us for decades, and it continues to show its tragic face in the form of new cases, chronic illnesses, and deaths. Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS brings us closer to a complex reality where the fight against disease and global health are interrelated with other problems, such as the need to reduce inequality, for which human rights, gender equality, social protection, and the development of research projects, where the ethics committees in research in community processes are constituents.

INTRODUCTION: Organizational Commitment (OC) is considered a crucial link between an organization and its employees, significantly impacting satisfaction, performance, productivity, and professional investment. OBJECTIVE: To assess organizational commitment among nursing professionals and technicians in a hospital in southern Chile between 2022 and 2023. METHODOLOGY: This was a cross-sectional study involving a sample of 305 staff members. Data collection utilized Meyer and Allen's (1991) Organizational Commitment tool, employing a 5-point Likert scale where 1 signifies "completely disagree" and 5 indicates "completely agree." Analysis encompassed descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: The instrument demonstrated sound internal consistency, supported by Cronbach's alpha. Observed OC tended towards a "neutral or indifferent" stance with a leaning towards "agreement" on the Likert scale. Affective Commitment (AC) exhibited higher levels compared to other domains. Normative Commitment (NC) among technical-level employees were robust, and particularly notable among divorced and widowed staff. Continuance Commitment (CC) emerged as the domain with the lowest average. AC showed an increase with age. CONCLUSIONS: Staff exhibited a moderate level of organizational commitment with a propensity towards a higher level, suggesting the need to reinforce the emotional bond between employees and the organization to positively influence the quality of care provided.

RESUMEN
Abstract Internal marketing is a concept still little recognized and disseminated, with most of the research on this area of marketing focusing on the service sector and well-consolidated and industrialized markets. This article sheds light on the importance of internal marketing practices by identifying their impact on workers' proactive behavior and life satisfaction while observing the effects of affective commitment and job satisfaction. The study collected 428 valid questionnaires from Portuguese workers (218 in the private sector and 210 in the public sector) and applied structural equation modeling to test the hypotheses. The results showed how adopting an internal marketing perspective can contribute to successful organizational and human resource management. It was observed that internal marketing practices lead to affective commitment and job satisfaction in both the private and public sectors, although more pronounced in the private sector. Also, the findings pointed out that the workers' affective commitment leads to adopting proactive behavior and life satisfaction only in the public sector and that job satisfaction leads to proactive behavior and life satisfaction for workers of both the private and public sector. This study contributes to increasing understanding of internal marketing, its applicability, and its importance for workers and organizations. Additionally, comparing the private and public sectors helps understand and show how this practice matches the workers' expectations.
Background: Life satisfaction as well as job satisfaction of teachers has a significant impact on educational outcomes. Objective: To evaluate a model of factors predicting life satisfaction through the mediating role of job satisfaction. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study, with a sample of 300 primary school teachers of both sexes (68% female, 32% male) and with a mean age of 42.52 years (SD = 10.04). They were administered the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Workload Scale (ECT), the Generic Job Satisfaction Scale, and the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire (OCQ). Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used for data analysis. Results: The SEM analysis found significant goodness-of-fit indices: (χ2 = 13.739; df = 5; p = <0.001; CFI = 0.99, TLI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.05, SRMR = 0.04). Specifically, self-efficacy and organizational commitment were positive predictors of job satisfaction, while workload was a negative predictor of job satisfaction. The mediating effect of job satisfaction between self-efficacy, life satisfaction, workload, and overall life satisfaction was confirmed. Conclusion: The results confirm the importance of self-efficacy, organizational commitment, and workload in job satisfaction and overall life satisfaction of elementary education teachers. Job satisfaction acts as a mediator in this relationship. It is important to reduce workload and promote self-efficacy and organizational commitment to improve the well-being and satisfaction of teachers.
RESUMEN
Based on the Conservation of Resources Theory, this longitudinal study analyzes the contribution of organizational affective commitment during the preparation phase of a peacekeeping mission (T1) to explain the well-being of soldiers during that mission (T2). A sample of 409 Brazilian army participants in the MINUSTAH (United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti) was used in two waves - preparation of the troops in Brazil, and their deployment in Haitian territory. The data analysis was performed using structural equation modeling. The results supported organizational affective commitment during the preparation phase (T1) positively predicting the general well-being (perception of health and general satisfaction with life) of these soldiers during the deployment phase (T2). The workplace well-being (i.e. work engagement) of these peacekeepers was also found to mediate this relationship. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed, and limitations and suggestions for future research are presented.

Relational frame theory (RFT) has historically been considered the basic explanatory science behind acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). However, some have argued that there has been an increasing separation between the two in recent years. The primary aim of the current article is to explore the extent to which RFT concepts, particularly those that have been proposed recently in the context of "up-dating" the theory, may be used to build stronger links between basic and applied behavior analyses in which there is a shared language of relatively precise technical terms. As an example of this strategy, we outline RFT process-based experimental and conceptual analyses of the impact of one of the most widely used sets of interventions employed in the ACT literature, defusion. In addition, we suggest a potential experimental methodology for analyzing the basic behavioral processes involved. Overall, the current article should be seen as part of a broader research agenda that aims to explore how RFT may be used to provide a functional-analytic abstractive treatment of the behavioral processes involved in human psychological suffering.
RESUMEN
In the Brazilian penal system, a person with a mental disorder who commits an offense may be exempt from penalty if, at the time of the offense, they were entirely unable to understand the illicit character of the fact. A forensic psychiatric expert makes this determination and may also recommend to the magistrate the type of commitment to be applied. As a rule, this measure is stipulated based on the judge's sentence rather than the kind of treatment that the mental disorder requires. This difference motivates the present study that seeks to identify criteria for expertise. Additionally, this work focuses on the biopsychological method which influences the application of the measure as detailed in the expert's report. Expert reports have considerable importance in criminal proceedings and often influence determinations of the deadline for compliance and, potentially, hospitalisation. For this question, a scoping review searched for relevant literature, regardless of the study design. Of 1014 references, 27 answered the guiding question, giving rise to 10 categories with several items corresponding to the criteria for expertise. These items, although not exhaustive, demonstrated the deficient interrelationship between law and mental health due to the lack of communication and interaction between them the two. This could be addressed through interdisciplinary legislation or alteration of criminal and criminal procedural laws. Additionally, the lack of communication could be further addressed through the magistrate's interpretation of mental health laws as a new parameter for criminal law based on the human dignity principle which recognises fundamental human rights.

Abstract In this psychometric research, the validity and reliability of the 45-item Sternberg Triangular Love Scale (STLS) was analyzed in a sample of 296 people from the city of Arequipa (located in southern Peru). 56.1% were women and 43.9% were men with an average age of 40.7 years. The STLS has three components: Intimacy, Commitment and Passion. For statistical processing, confirmatory factor analysis was applied to analyze the internal structure and the ordinal alpha test to estimate reliability. It was found that the STLS has a three-factor structure, after eliminating 11 items because they loaded on two or more factors. The scale was reduced to 34 items, with adequate goodness-of-fit indexes and reliability with indexes greater than .93 in each of its three factors.
Abstract There is an increase in both overweight and obesity in the world, aspect that tends for the approach of integral models of intervention, that generate changes in attitude, and commitment in people towards their eating habits and physical activity, that counteract a sedentary lifestyle and the influence of counterproductive processed foods for energy balance. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness between two psychological components (traditional behavioral strategies and a 6-session acceptance and commitment training), added together, each one: a) concurrent physical training (strength/endurance) with bioadaptation process, b) hypocaloric diet and c) Nutritional education. Measurements of anthropometric variables were obtained, physical fitness and mental health symptoms, while the average of steps was measured during the whole process, constituting this part in a single ABA case design for each treatment condition. The sample consisted of five women and one man, between 33 and 49 years of age, with pre-obesity and type I obesity, assigned in a non-random way between the behavioral coaching and acceptance and commitment training groups. In physical training, priority was initially given to the conditional capacity of strength, being an incident in the mobilization of large muscle groups (multi-joint) in order to generate a greater caloric expenditure, directly influencing exercises that optimize postural hygiene by working in the core zone and complementing training with synergistic or accompanying biarticular exercises in the movement of daily physical activities, subsequently the execution of aerobic resistance in search of the increase in the maximum oxygen consumption capacity ( max), ending with the implementation of vital flexibility exercises for physical exercise releasing muscle tension, favoring conditional physical ability. Regarding the intervention of the nutritional component, the most important input to begin to identify eating habits and subsequently modify them was the 24-hour reminder, applying in the first week of the baseline and the reversal phase. The nutritional intervention consisted of: (a) education so that participants understood and generated greater adherence to the nutritional proposal and (b) hypocaloric diet, reducing daily intake between 500 and 600 kilocalories per day. A follow-up anthropometric assessment was also carried out towards the third week of the intervention phase to obtain feedback on the incidence of their behavior on the anthropometric variables. Regarding the record of the number of steps, both in the baseline and reversion phases the monitor screens were covered, contrary to the intervention phase, since its observation allows self-monitoring towards the weekly personal goal of steps that was established and accompanied by a professional, who in turn generated a graph with the results of the week and gave feedback to each participant. The findings show an improvement in: body composition, aerobic endurance (VO2 max) and grip strength, being the main factor of result in the realization of the physical exercise. Likewise, an increase in the number of steps from the baseline is identified in both groups (X = 9 228.07; S = 1 985.89) to the intervention phase (X = 9 734.22; S = 1 660.86) and a decrease in reversion (X = 9 099.88; S = 2 328.69). In the acceptance and commitment group, no increase in mental health symptoms was identified, increased or sustained cognitive restriction and decreased scores for uncontrolled eating and emotional eating, while there was greater variation in the results of the behavioral coaching participants. This is a pilot of a study with greater capacity for inference.
RESUMEN
Privately protected areas (PPAs) are a potentially innovative conservation tool. Legal recognition is necessary for their success, especially where there are institutional challenges to nature conservation, such as in South America. Although PPAs have increased in South America since the early 2000s, there is a critical information gap pertaining to their legal frameworks. We analyzed the level of landowner commitment to and governmental support for PPAs across countries in South America that officially recognize PPAs. We analyzed the legal framework governing PPAs and reviewed literature on them. This process was done in English and Spanish. The information we gathered was validated by 16 conservation experts from 10 South American countries. Because Peru is 1 of only 2 South American countries where local communities create and manage PPAs, we studied Peruvian PPAs in more detail by examining official creation documents and interviewing 13 local conservation professionals. We found inadequate minimum duration of PPAs and vague guidelines for conducting economic activities within them and a lack of governmental support (e.g., financial and technical support) for PPAs. Support was limited to the exemption from rural property taxes, which are relatively low compared with countries outside South America. In Peru, PPAs run by individuals and communities needed different legal frameworks because they were created with different objectives and had different sizes and duration of commitments. The prompt improvement of legal frameworks across South America is necessary for PPAs to achieve their aim of being places for enduring nature conservation in the region.

FAM129B is one of Niban-like proteins described in neoplastic cells and implicated in melanoma cell invasion, but no reports have been published on FAM129B and cell differentiation. We show that FAM129B is early and transiently expressed and crucial for 3T3-F442A adipogenesis. Fam129b is expressed downstream of the early genes Cebpb, Klf4, Klf5 and Srebf1a, but upstream of Pparg2 since knockdown of Fam129b blocked Pparg2 expression and adipose differentiation. Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta activity, a crucial kinase for adipogenesis, and the ERK1/2 are involved in FAM129B phosphorylation as part of the adipogenic program. Phosphorylated FAM129B is crucial for Pparg2 expression and the lipogenic gene expression downstream of Pparg2, and hence for adipogenesis. Fam129b knockdown reduced adipocyte cluster formation and size, regulating commitment and clonal amplification. In vivo, BAT, inguinal and epidydimal fat expressed Fam129b, suggesting a role in adipose tissue development. We conclude that FAM129B is a cooperative protein that regulates differentiation during the early stages of adipogenesis.
