RESUMEN
A possibility of testing oxolynic acid (OA) transport in blood of animals by its bactericidal effect was studied experimentally on macaques and non-pedigree dogs (intramuscular and peroral administration). Kinetics of accumulation and elimination of OA and its derivatives exhibiting bactericidal effect makes it possible to predict optimum scheme of using these drugs in prevention and treatment of radiation disease.

Changes of Macaca nemestrina and Rhesus blood DNA have been studied up to 5 days after the total uniform gamma-irradiation in doses 6.2 and 6.5 Gy. The content of nucleotide ATrich DNA has been evaluated in the fractions of leucocytes with the various surface adherence properties. The dynamics of the content nucleotide AT-DNA and blood leucocytes were similar at the both monkey species. The evaluation of structural state DNA in the blood nucleotide with the fluorescent dyes (ethidium bromide and 4; 6-diamidine-2-phenylindole) demonstrated that the important changes in the polynucleotide structure occurred from 6 to 24 h after irradiation and maintained up to 5 days. Adhesive capacity changes were reversible but they preceded the DNA structural changes. At 24 h postirradiation non-adhesive cells with relative higher AT-DNA content were found.

Ribamidil has a cytostatic effect on bone marrow cells and a radioprotective therapeutic action. Ribamidil favors CFUs proliferation and does not interfere with the process of CFUs migration.

Oxolinic acid was shown to produce a radioprotective effect on mice and a therapeutic radioprotective action on rats and hamsters. As to radioprotective efficiency, oxolinic acid is inferior to such known sulfur-containing agents as indolylalkylamines and alpha-adrenomimetics. But oxolinic acid has an important advantage over them, that is, the increase in radioresistance it induces persists for several hours. The radioprotective effectiveness of oxolinic acid prompts that it is expedient to search for new radioprotective preparations among specific inhibitors of DNA polymerase of replicative synthesis.

In experiments on (CBA X C57B1)F1 mice a study was made of the radioprotective efficiency of some hypotensive drugs. Hemiton administered in different ways, within a wide dose range and at different times before irradiation was shown to possess a pronounced protective action. The substitution of the acid residue in hemiton decreased its activity.

In experiments in irradiated (CBA X S57B1)F1 mice a study was made of toxicity and radioprotective efficiency of some pyridazine and pyridazine dione derivatives. Some of these substances were shown to have a moderate protective action when administered intraperitoneally. A correlation was revealed between the chemical structure and the radioprotective properties of the compounds.

A study was made of clinical manifestations of radiation sickness of pigs exposed to gamma-radiation within a wide range of doses, LD50/30 was about 2.82 Gy after a short-term whole-body exposure: the nonuniformity coefficient was 1.2.
