RESUMEN

A continuous-wave mid-infrared radiation from difference frequency generation by mixing a continuous-wave Ti: sapphire laser and a continuous-wave YAG laser in a 15 mm long BaGa4Se7 crystal is demonstrated for the first time. The tunable range from 3.15 to 7.92 µm was achieved by rotating the crystal to fulfill the type I phase-matching condition. A maximum DFG power of 1.41 µW was obtained at 5 µm. Meanwhile the experimental DFG power conversion efficiency was 20.2 µW/W2, with a length-normalized slope efficiency of 15.5 µW/cmW2. The conversion efficiency decreases rapidly from 50 µW/cmW2 at 3.15 µm to 1 µW/cmW2 at 7.92 µm. The wavelength acceptance bandwidth and the angular acceptance bandwidth were measured to be 16.4 cm-1 and 44' for DFG at 5.1 µm, respectively.

RESUMEN

We, for the first time, demonstrate a tunable mid-infrared BaGa4Se7-based optical parametric oscillator pumped by a acousto-optical Q-switched Ho:YAG laser at 2090.6 nm. Up to 1.55 W of average power was generated in the 3-5 µm range, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 14.4% and a slope efficiency of 19.9%. The mid-IR radiation spectra were also seriously researched at different phase-matched angles. The tunable range was 3.49-4.13 µm for the signal, and 5.19-4.34 µm for the idler.

RESUMEN

A high efficiency and high peak power picosecond (ps) mid-infrared optical parametric amplifier with a new nonlinear crystal BaGa(4)Se(7) pumped by a 30 ps 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser is demonstrated for the first time. The maximum photon conversion efficiency of 56% from 1064 nm to 3.9 µm idler has been achieved at the pump energy of ~1.8 mJ. A maximum idler output of 830 µJ at 3.9 µm with peak power of ~27 MW was obtained at pump energy of ~9.1 mJ. Moreover, a 3-5 µm idler tuning range was demonstrated, with output energies of ~300 µJ at 5 µm and up to 1 mJ at 3 µm at ~8.2 mJ pump energy.

RESUMEN

The title compound, KZnB(3)O(6) contains a remarkable [B(6)O(12)](6-) group ( symmetry) formed by two rings linked by edge-sharing BO(4) tetra-hedra, a feature that has only been observed previously under high pressure conditions. These borate groups are connected through distorted ZnO(4) tetra-hedra in edge-shared pairs ( symmetry), forming a three-dimensional network whose cavities are filled by K(+) cations.
