RESUMEN

During the progression of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), the accumulation of auto-aggressive CD8+ T cells significantly contributes to liver injury and inflammation. Empagliflozin (EMPA), a highly selective inhibitor of sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2), exhibits potential therapeutic benefits for liver steatosis; however, the underlying mechanism remains incompletely elucidated. Here, we found that EMPA significantly reduced the hepatic accumulation of auto-aggressive CD8+ T cells and lowered granzyme B levels in mice with MASH. Mechanistically, EMPA increased ß-hydroxybutyric acid by promoting the ketogenesis of CD8+ T cells via elevating 3-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenase 1 (Bdh1) expression. The ß-hydroxybutyric acid subsequently inhibited interferon regulatory factor 4 (Irf4), which is crucial for CD8+ T cell activation. Furthermore, the ablation of Bdh1 in T cells aggravated the manifestation of MASH and hindered the therapeutic efficacy of EMPA. Moreover, a case-control study also showed that SGLT2 inhibitor treatment repressed CD8+ T cell infiltration and improved liver injury in patients with MASH. In summary, our study indicates that SGLT2 inhibitors can target CD8+ T cells and may be an effective strategy for treating MASH.

RESUMEN

Dcaf17, also known as DDB1- and CUL4-associated factor 17, is a member of the DCAF family and acts as the receptor for the CRL4 ubiquitin E3 ligase complex. Several previous studies have reported that mutations in Dcaf17 cause Woodhouse-Sakati Syndrome (WSS), which results in oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (OAT) and male infertility. As a model to explore the role of Dcaf17 in the male reproductive system, we created Dcaf17-deficient male golden hamsters using CRISPR-Cas9 technology, the results of which demonstrate that deletion of Dcaf17 led to abnormal spermatogenesis and infertility. To uncover the underlying molecular mechanisms involved, we conducted single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis to evaluate the effect of Dcaf17 deficiency on transcriptional levels in spermatogenic cells during various stages of spermatogenesis. These data emphasize the significant regulatory role played by Dcaf17 in early spermatogenic cells, with many biological processes being affected, including spermatogenesis, and protein degradation. Dysregulation of genes associated with these functions ultimately leads to abnormalities. In summary, our findings highlight the critical function of Dcaf17 in spermatogenesis and male fertility and clarify the specific stage at which Dcaf17 exerts its effects, while simultaneously providing a novel animal model for the study of Dcaf17.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: In clinical anesthesia, precise segmentation of muscle layers from abdominal ultrasound images is crucial for identifying nerve block locations accurately. Despite deep learning advancements, challenges persist in segmenting muscle layers with accurate topology due to pseudo and weak edges caused by acoustic artifacts in ultrasound imagery. PURPOSE: To assist anesthesiologists in locating nerve block areas, we have developed a novel deep learning algorithm that can accurately segment muscle layers in abdominal ultrasound images with interference. METHODS: We propose a comprehensive approach emphasizing the preservation of the segmentation's low-rank property to ensure correct topology. Our methodology integrates a Semantic Feature Extraction (SFE) module for redundant encoding, a Low-rank Reconstruction (LR) module to compress this encoding, and an Edge Reconstruction (ER) module to refine segmentation boundaries. Our evaluation involved rigorous testing on clinical datasets, comparing our algorithm against seven established deep learning-based segmentation methods using metrics such as Mean Intersection-over-Union (MIoU) and Hausdorff distance (HD). Statistical rigor was ensured through effect size quantification with Cliff's Delta, Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) for multivariate analysis, and application of the Holm-Bonferroni method for multiple comparisons correction. RESULTS: We demonstrate that our method outperforms other industry-recognized deep learning approaches on both MIoU and HD metrics, achieving the best outcomes with 88.21%/4.98 ( p m a x = 0.1893 $p_{max}=0.1893$ ) on the standard test set and 85.48%/6.98 ( p m a x = 0.0448 $p_{max}=0.0448$ ) on the challenging test set. The best&worst results for the other models on the standard test set were (87.20%/5.72)&(83.69%/8.12), and on the challenging test set were (81.25%/10.00)&(71.74%/16.82). Ablation studies further validate the distinct contributions of the proposed modules, which synergistically achieve a balance between maintaining topological integrity and edge precision. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings validate the effective segmentation of muscle layers with accurate topology in complex ultrasound images, leveraging low-rank constraints. The proposed method not only advances the field of medical imaging segmentation but also offers practical benefits for clinical anesthesia by improving the reliability of nerve block localization.

RESUMEN

Patients with diabetes have physical and psychological issues due to chronic illness. According to the guidelines of the Chinese Diabetes Society, after the diagnosis of patients with diabetes, they should receive routine health education, but this is the passive installation method of education. Nurses have made important contributions to the follow-up, education, and support of patients with diabetes and their families. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of nurse-led follow-up care in routine health education and follow-up for patients with diabetes. Medical records of 721 patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes were reviewed. Patients received nurse-led follow-up care including educational programs + Tai Chi exercises (patients received nurse-led follow-up care including educational programs for 6 months, n = 108), routine health education and follow-up + Tai Chi exercises (patients received routine health education and follow-up for 6 months, n = 205), or Tai Chi exercises only, but did not receive nurse-led follow-up care or routine health education and follow-up (patients received Tai Chi exercises only for 6 months, n = 408) for 6-months. The Zung Self-Rating Depression and Anxiety Scale and Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities were used to evaluate anxiety, depression, and self-care activities, respectively. Before the start of follow-up care (BFC), knowledge regarding diabetes and its threat was ≤1.75, anxiety and depression scores were ≥52 each, and self-care activities were ≤37. After 6 months of follow-up care, patients in the patients received nurse-led follow-up care including educational programs for 6 months improved their knowledge regarding diabetes and its threat, anxiety, depression, and self-care activities as compared to their before the start of follow-up care conditions and patients in the RF and patients received Tai Chi exercises only for 6 months at after 6 months of follow-up care conditions (P < .001 for all). Chinese type 1 or 2 diabetes patients had worse physical and psychological conditions and less knowledge regarding diabetes and its threat. Nurse-led aftercare, including educational programs with Tai Chi exercises for 6 months, decreased anxiety and depression and improved knowledge regarding diabetes and its threat and self-care activities in diabetic patients (Level of Evidence: IV; Technical Efficacy: Stage 5).

RESUMEN

The porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) infection is an emerging disease associated with clinical signs of porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS)-like clinical signs. Currently, there is a lack of effective vaccines and therapeutics against this disease. Therefore, rapid, effective, sensitive, and specific detection methods are crucial for the timely identification, prevention, and control of PCV3. In this study, we developed one- and two-pot visual detection methods for PCV3 using a clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/Cas12a detection system combined with recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA). These two methods demonstrated no cross-reactivity with eight other swine viruses and exhibited minimum detection limits of five and two copies of viral DNA, respectively, revealing their high specificity and sensitivity. During a clinical sample detection within 30 min, the coincidence rates between the one- and two-pot detection methods and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) were 100%. In conclusion, both one- and two-pot RPA-CRISPR/Cas12a detection methods have significant potential for the rapid, sensitive, and specific visual detection of PCV3.

RESUMEN

Surface ligand chemistry is vital to control the synthesis, diminish surface defects, and improve the electronic coupling of quantum dots (QDs) toward emerging applications in optoelectronic devices. Here, we successfully develop highly homogeneous and dispersed AgBiS2 QDs, focus on the control of interdot spacing, and substitute the long-chain ligands with ammonium iodide in solution. This results in improved electronic coupling of AgBiS2 QDs with excellent surface passivation, which greatly facilitates carrier transport within the QD films. Based on the stable AgBiS2 QD dispersion with the optimal ligand state, a homogeneous and densely packed QD film is prepared by a facile one-step coating process, delivering a champion power conversion efficiency of approximately 8% in the QD solar cells with outstanding shelf life stability. The proposed surface engineering strategy holds the potential to become a universal preprocessing step in the realm of high-performance QD optoelectronic devices.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To use circulating tumor cells (CTC) from the first drainage vein (FDV) of the primary lesion and other clinically relevant parameters to construct a nomogram for predicting liver metastasis in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, and to provide a theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. METHODS: Information from 343 CRC patients was collected and a database was established. Multivariate logistic analysis was used to identify independent factors for colorectal cancer liver metastasis(mCRC) and nomograms were constructed. Receiver operating characteristic curves(ROC), calibration plots, and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to assess discrimination, agreement with actual risk, and the clinical utility of the prediction model, respectively. RESULT: CTC levels in FDV were significantly higher in patients with liver metastasis than in those without liver metastasis. Logistic multivariate analysis showed that vascular invasion, T stage, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), CA19-9, and CTC could be used as predictors to construct nomograms. The nomograms showed good discriminatory ability in predicting mCRC, with area under the curve (AUC) values of 0.871 [95 % CI: 0.817-0.924) and 0.891 (95 % CI: 0.817-0.964) for the training and validation sets, respectively.] The calibration curves of both the training and validation sets showed that the model was effective in predicting the probability of mCRC. DCA was used to evaluate this predictive model and showed good net clinical benefit. CONCLUSION: We developed and validated a nomogram model based on the combination of CTC in the FDV with other clinical parameters to better predict the occurrence of mCRC.

RESUMEN

This work presents a detailed determination of site-specific N-glycan distributions of the recombinant influenza glycoproteins hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase. Variation in glycosylation among recombinant glycoproteins is not predictable and can depend on details of the biomanufacturing process as well as details of protein structure. In this study, recombinant influenza proteins were analyzed from eight strains of four different suppliers. These include five HA and three neuraminidase proteins, each produced from a HEK293 cell line. Digestion was conducted using a series of complex multienzymatic methods designed to isolate glycopeptides containing single N-glycosylated sites. Site-specific glycosylation profiles of intact glycopeptides were produced using a recently developed method and comparisons were made using spectral similarity scores. Variation in glycan abundances and distribution was most pronounced between different strains of virus (similarity score = 383 out of 999), whereas digestion replicates and injection replicates showed relatively little variation (similarity score = 957). Notably, glycan distributions for homologous regions of influenza glycoprotein variants showed low variability. Due to the multiple possible sources of variation and inherent analytical difficulties in site-specific glycan determinations, variations were individually examined for multiple factors, including differences in supplier, production batch, protease digestion, and replicate measurement. After comparing all glycosylation distributions, four distinguishable classes could be identified for the majority of sites. Finally, attempts to identify glycosylation distributions on adjacent potential N-glycosylated sites of one HA variant were made. Only the second site (NnST) was found to be occupied using two rarely used proteases in proteomics, subtilisin and esperase, both of which did selectively cleave these adjacent sites.

RESUMEN

The directed electron transport channel design in semiconductors, which could promote charge utilization, is attractive but rarely reported. Hierarchical branched titanium dioxide (HB-TiO2), possessing a charge cascade transfer channel, was constructed by assembling titanium-defected TiO2 nanobranches on oxygen-defected TiO2 nanobelts. The interfacial Ti/O vacancies have been detected by X-ray photoelectron and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopies, and the vacancies act as the "bridge" of photogenerated carrier transport. This structure maintained high photoactivity in H2 production in different mass fractions of NaCl solutions. The photocurrent density of the HB-TiO2 photoanode in natural seawater is 3.9, 2.1, and 2.6 times that of oxygen-defected TiO2 nanobelts, titanium-defected TiO2 nanobranches, and their mixture, respectively. Besides, the charge transport mechanism from the inner lattice to the TiO2 surface is proposed.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Degenerative cervical myelopathy (DCM) is a progressive chronic spinal cord injury estimated to affect 1 in 50 adults. Without standardised guidance, clinical research studies have selected outcomes at their discretion, often underrepresenting the disease and limiting comparability between studies. Utilising a standard minimum data set formed via multi-stakeholder consensus can address these issues. This combines processes to define a core outcome set (COS)-a list of key outcomes-and core data elements (CDEs), a list of key sampling characteristics required to interpret the outcomes. Further "how" these outcomes should be measured and/or reported is then defined in a core measurement set (CMS). This can include a recommendation of a standardised time point at which outcome data should be reported. This study defines a COS, CDE, and CMS for DCM research. METHODS AND FINDINGS: A minimum data set was developed using a series of modified Delphi processes. Phase 1 involved the setup of an international DCM stakeholder group. Phase 2 involved the development of a longlist of outcomes, data elements, and formation into domains. Phase 3 prioritised the outcomes and CDEs using a two-stage Delphi process. Phase 4 determined the final DCM minimal data set using a consensus meeting. Using the COS, Phase 5 finalised definitions of the measurement construct for each outcome. In Phase 6, a systematic review of the literature was performed, to scope and define the psychometric properties of measurement tools. Phase 7 used a modified Delphi process to inform the short-listing of candidate measurement tools. The final measurement set was then formed through a consensus meeting (Phase 8). To support implementation, the data set was then integrated into template clinical research forms (CRFs) for use in future clinical trials (Phase 9). In total, 28 outcomes and 6 domains (Pain, Neurological Function, Life Impact, Radiology, Economic Impact, and Adverse Events) were entered into the final COS. Thirty two outcomes and 4 domains (Individual, Disease, Investigation, and Intervention) were entered into the final CDE. Finally, 4 outcome instruments (mJOA, NDI, SF-36v2, and SAVES2) were identified for the CMS, with a recommendation for trials evaluating outcomes after surgery, to include baseline measurement and at 6 months from surgery. CONCLUSIONS: The AO Spine RECODE-DCM has produced a minimum data set for use in DCM clinical trials today. These are available at https://myelopathy.org/minimum-dataset/. While it is anticipated the CDE and COS have strong and durable relevance, it is acknowledged that new measurement tools, alongside an increasing transition to study patients not undergoing surgery, may necessitate updates and adaptation, particularly with respect to the CMS.

RESUMEN

Liver diseases pose significant challenges to global public health. In the realm of drug discovery and development, overcoming 'on-target off-tissue' effects remains a substantial barrier for various diseases. In this study, we have pioneered a Liver-Targeting Chimera (LIVTAC) approach using a proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) molecule coupled to the liver-specific asialoglycoprotein receptor (ASGPR) through an innovative linker attachment strategy for the precise induction of target protein degradation within the liver. As a proof-of-concept study, we designed XZ1606, a mammalian bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET)-targeting LIVTAC agent, which not only demonstrated enduring tumor suppression (over 2 months) in combination with sorafenib but also an improved safety profile, notably ameliorating the incidence of thrombocytopenia, a common and severe on-target dose-limiting toxic effect associated with conventional BET inhibitors. These encouraging results highlight the potential of LIVTAC as a versatile platform for addressing a broad spectrum of liver diseases.

RESUMEN

Direct electrochemical seawater splitting is a renewable, scalable, and potentially economic approach for green hydrogen production. However, issues related to low durability caused by complex ions in seawater pose great challenges for its industrialization. In this review, a mechanistic analysis of durability issues of electrolytic seawater splitting is discussed. We critically analyze the development of seawater electrolysis and identify the durability challenges at both the anode and cathode. Particular emphasis is given to elucidating rational strategies for designing electrocatalysts/electrodes/interfaces with long lifetimes in realistic seawater including inducing passivating anion layers, preferential OH- adsorption, employing anti-corrosion materials, fabricating protective layers, immobilizing Cl- on the surface of electrocatalysts, tailoring Cl- adsorption sites, inhibiting binding of OH- to Mg2+ and Ca2+, inhibiting adherence of Mg and Ca hydroxide precipitation, and co-electrosynthesis of nano-sized Mg hydroxides. Synthesis methods of electrocatalysts/electrodes and innovations in electrolyzer are also discussed. Furthermore, the prospects for developing seawater splitting technologies for clean hydrogen generation are summarized. We found that researchers have changed the attitude towards Cl- ions from "hate" to accept to utilize, as well as more attention to cathodic reaction and electrolyzers, which is conducive to accelerate the commercialization of seawater electrolysis.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Klebsiella pneumoniae is the most commonly encountered pathogen in clinical practice. Widespread use of broad-spectrum antibiotics has led to the current global dissemination of carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae, which poses a significant threat to antibacterial treatment efficacy and public health. Outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) have been identified as carriers capable of facilitating the transfer of virulence and resistance genes. However, the role of OMVs in carbapenem-resistant K. pneumoniae under external pressures such as antibiotic and phage treatments remains unclear. METHODS: To isolate and purify OMVs under the pressure of phages and tigecycline, we subjected K. pneumoniae 0692 harboring plasmid-mediated blaNDM-1 and blaKPC-2 genes to density gradient separation. The double-layer plate method was used to isolate MJ1, which efficiently lysed K. pneumoniae 0692 cells. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to characterize the isolated phages and extract OMV groups for relevant morphological identification. Determination of protein content of each OMV group was conducted through bicinchoninic acid assay (BCA) and proteomic analysis. RESULTS: K. pneumoniae 0692 released OMVs in response to different environmental stimuli, which were characterized through TEM as having the typical structure and particle size of OMVs. Phage or tigecycline treatment alone resulted in a slight increase in the mean protein concentration of OMVs secreted by K. pneumoniae 0692 compared to that in the untreated group. However, when phage treatment was combined with tigecycline, there was a significant reduction in the average protein concentration of OMVs compared to tigecycline treatment alone. Proteomics showed that OMVs encapsulated numerous functional proteins and that under different external stresses of phages and tigecycline, the proteins carried by K. pneumoniae 0692-derived OMVs were significantly upregulated or downregulated compared with those in the untreated group. CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed the ability of OMVs to carry abundant proteins and highlighted the important role of OMV-associated proteins in bacterial responses to phages and tigecycline, representing an important advancement in microbial resistance research.

RESUMEN

As the initial synthesized colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are generally capped with insulating ligands, ligand exchange strategies are essential in the fabrication of CQD films for solar cells, which can regulate the surface chemical states of CQDs to make them more suitable for thin-film optoelectronic devices. However, uncontrollable surface adsorption of water molecules during the ligand exchange process introduces new defect sites, thereby impairing the resultant device performance, which attracts more efforts devoted to it but remains a puzzle. Here, we develop a solvent-engineering-assisted ligand exchange strategy to revamp the surface adsorption, improve the exchange efficiency, and modulate the surface chemistry for the environmentally friendly lead-free silver bismuth disulfide (AgBiS2) CQDs. The optimized AgBiS2 CQD solar cells deliver an outstanding champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of up to 8.95% and improved long-term stability. Our strategy is less environment-dependent and can produce solar cells with negligible performance variance for several batches across several months. Our work demonstrates the critical role of solvents for ligand exchange in the surface chemistry of CQDs and the realization of high-performance photovoltaic devices in a highly reproducible manner.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the genetic and clinical characteristics of 46, XX testicular disorders of sex development (DSD). METHODS: We collected the clinical data on the patients with 46,XX testicular DSD diagnosed in the Center of Reproductive Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University from January 2017 to January 2023, and analyzed their genetic and clinical characteristics and the SRY gene chromosomal location for those with SRY-positive. RESULTS: A total of 26 patients were included in this study, all with 46,XX and deletion of the AZFa, b and c regions, with a mean height of (168.3±5.9) cm, body weight of (64.0±7.5) kg, BMI of (22.66±2.79) kg/m2, left testis volume of (2.53±1.16) ml and right testis volume of (2.74±1.34) ml. The semen volume of the patients averaged 1.35 (0.18-2.78) ml, FSH (36.85±18.01) IU/L, LH (19.71±9.71) IU/L, and T (6.08±2.71) nmol/L. The SRY-negative patients had a higher incidence rate of development disorders in the reproductive system than the SRY-positive ones (5/6 vs 3/20, P = 0.004), but no statistically significant differences were observed in the other parameters. The SRY gene was localized at the end of Xp in 13 of the 14 SRY-positive cases, and at chromosome 15 in the other 1. CONCLUSION: 46,XX testicular DSD has some similarity and heterogeneity in genetics and clinical characteristics.

RESUMEN

Background: Robert's uterus combined with transverse uterine septum is a rare uterine malformation. Only one case has been reported to date, and it is challenging to diagnose and treat. Case presentation: Here we report the case of a 19-year-old female had undergone multiple treatments at a previous hospital for primary amenorrhea and periodic lower abdominal pain, with the cause remaining unclear. Ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging conducted at our hospital displayed the presence of uterine dysplasia with an incomplete septum. Following a multidisciplinary discussion, a preliminary diagnosis of Robert's uterus combined with transverse uterine septum was made. Following this, laparoscopic exploration and ultrasound-guided hysteroscopic metroplasty were performed. The patient experienced periodic menstruation postoperatively and did not manifest periodic lower abdominal pain. Conclusion: Robert's uterus combined with transverse uterine septum is a very rare uterine malformation, with hysteroscopic metroplasty being the preferred surgical option. Nevertheless, preoperative diagnosis is extremely difficult, and there are also many difficulties in the surgical process. This case outlines the diagnostic and treatment process of a patient with Robert's uterus and transverse uterine septum. It is of great significance to fill the gap in clinical diagnosis and treatment of this special uterine malformation.

RESUMEN

Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) is primarily secreted by hepatocytes. PCSK9 is critical in liver low-density lipoprotein receptors (LDLRs) metabolism. In addition to its hepatocellular presence, PCSK9 has also been detected in cardiac, cerebral, islet, renal, adipose, and other tissues. Once perceived primarily as a "harmful factor," PCSK9 has been a focal point for the targeted inhibition of both systemic circulation and localized tissues to treat diseases. However, PCSK9 also contributes to the maintenance of normal physiological functions in numerous extrahepatic tissues, encompassing both LDLR-dependent and -independent pathways. Consequently, PCSK9 deficiency may harm extrahepatic tissues in close association with several pathophysiological processes, such as lipid accumulation, mitochondrial impairment, insulin resistance, and abnormal neural differentiation. This review encapsulates the beneficial effects of PCSK9 on the physiological processes and potential disorders arising from PCSK9 deficiency in extrahepatic tissues. This review also provides a comprehensive analysis of the disparities between experimental and clinical research findings regarding the potential harm associated with PCSK9 deficiency. The aim is to improve the current understanding of the diverse effects of PCSK9 inhibition.

RESUMEN

Mulberry leaf tea (MT) is a popular Chinese food with nutrition and medicinal functions. Solid-state fermentation with Eurotium cristatum of MT (FMT) can improve their quality. Differences in chromaticity, taste properties, and flavor characteristics were analyzed to evaluate the improvements of the sensory quality of FMT. After fermentation, the color of the tea infusion changed. The E-tongue evaluation results showed a significant decrease in unpleasant taste properties such as sourness, bitterness, astringency, and aftertaste-bitterness, while umami and saltiness taste properties were enhanced post-fermentation. Aroma-active compounds in MT and FMT were identified and characterized. A total of 25 key aroma-active compounds were screened in MT, and 2-pentylfuran showed the highest relative odor activity value (ROAV). A total of 26 key aroma-active compounds were identified in FMT, and the newly formed compound 1-octen-3-one showed the highest ROAV, which contributed to FMT's unique mushroom, herbal, and earthy flavor attributes. 1-octen-3-one, (E)-2-nonenal, trimethyl-pyrazine, 2-pentylfuran, and heptanal were screened as the potential markers that contributed to flavor differences between MT and FMT. E. cristatum fermentation significantly altered the sensory properties and flavor compounds of MT. This study provides valuable insights into the sensory qualities of MT and FMT, offering a theoretical basis for the development of FMT products.

RESUMEN

Wound healing is a major challenge worldwide, and people have been researching wound dressings that can promote wound healing for decades. Natural biobased materials, such as polysaccharides and proteins, have been widely used in the development of wound dressings. Among them, soy protein-based materials have attracted the interest of a wide range of researchers due to their safety, biocompatibility, controlled degradation, and ability to be mixed with other materials. However, there has been a lack of comments on these soy protein-based wound dressings. This work reviews various forms of soy protein-based wound dressings, such as hydrogels, films, and others, which could be prepared through physical/chemical cross-linking with synthetic or natural polymers. The important role played by soy protein-based materials in the wound healing phase and their properties will be examined, such as their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, angiogenesis-promoting, cellular biocompatibility, self-healing ability, adhesion, antimicrobial, and tunable mechanical properties. Additionally, insights into the market prospects and trends for soy protein dressings are provided, clarifying the enormous development potential of soy protein as a new type of wound repair material.
