RESUMEN

Lack of uniform views concerning subcellular image and possible meaning of free radicals in the myocardial damage prompted us to study rat hearts submitted for chronic thyrotoxicosis. The studies were performed on 30 Wistar white rats. The material was obtained from anterior wall of the left ventricle of the heart. To confirm the role of free radicals one group of rats was given ascorbic acid, a well-known substance with anti-oxidation properties (free radical scavenger). In the control group we observed a typical structure of the myocardium. In the group with thyrotoxicosis a great degree of subcellular structural damage was noticed. These alterations correspond to nonspecific myocardial damage that can be meet in hypoxia, reperfusion or in toxic myocardial damage. However, in case of vitamin application generally known to have anti-oxidation properties, damages were significantly less intensive and occurred more rarely. It seems to indicate a significant role of free radicals in the generation of these alterations.

RESUMEN

An activity of some selected indicator enzymes in rats after adrenalectomy, stimulation and inhibition of adrenal glands has been investigated in the heart muscle. An increase in the activity of CPK, isoenzyme CK-MB, LDH and AspAT after the adrenal stimulation (Synacthen) have been observed. As well as significant decrease in the activity of these enzymes after adrenalectomy and inhibition (by use Orimeten-aminoglutethimide) functioning of adrenal glands have been observed.

RESUMEN

The detection of the influence of chronic poisoning with cadmium on some lipid metabolism in heart muscle and aorta of rabbits was the main object of the paper. A distinct cumulation of cadmium in the heart muscle was observed. However, its excessive accumulation in the wall of the aorta was not noted. A trend toward an increase of all lipid parameters, that is triglycerides, free fatty acids, phospholipids and cholesterol, was observed in the heart muscle. On the other hand, the level of phospholipids increased very distinctly in the aorta and the level of free fatty acids decreased insignificantly, which can be a favourable factor for the development of atherosclerosis processes.

RESUMEN

Wistar rats were implanted subcutaneously with samples of the home-made metacrylate material Akpol S and, for comparative purposes, with samples of the imported materials Trevalon and Superacryl. Throughout a period of 7 weeks, at 7-day intervals, sections of the tissues surrounding implants were collected from the animals and examined histopathologically. No differences in the character of the inflammatory reaction ensuing around the implants made from the three tested materials were observed. The dynamics of increase in the thickness of a pseudocapsule which developed at the edge of the inflammatory infiltration around the implants made from Akpol S and Trevalon was similar, whereas analogous values for the material Superacryl were higher. The conducted comparative in vivo studies permit us to evaluate positively the home-made metacrylate material Akpol S.

RESUMEN

Wistar rats were implanted subcutaneously with 2.5 x 6 mm cylindrical matrices, made from the home-made metacrylate material Akpol S, and, for comparative purposes, with the imported materials Trevalon and Superacryl. At different time intervals quantitative and qualitative analyses of the picture of leucocytes and of blood plasma proteins were carried out in groups of animals implanted with the above-mentioned materials and in a control one. No differences in the values of the above parameters were found in any of the examined groups of animals. The carried out tests were aimed at making a thorough study of general reaction of the living organism to the new, home-made metacrylate material Akpol S, used for making removable dentures.

RESUMEN

The aim of this study was to improve the oral dosage form of the title compound. The study include base, dihydrochloride and dimaleate. In vitro study was carried out on rat intestine, in vivo on rats and rabbits. The low absorption of the M-71 salts has been shown in both in vitro and in vivo studies. To increase bioavailability in men the tablets or enteric coated tablets should be made according to the results of clinical trials.

RESUMEN

The studies of chronic toxicity of the preparation M-71 (Craviten) were carried out on rats and mice. The body weight, absolute and relative weight or organs, haematocrit, the number of erythrocytes and leukocytes, the proportional content of leukocytes, OB value, activity of aminotransferases (AspAT and AlAT), the level of glucose in the blood serum and the histopathology of some organs were investigated. Moreover, in rats receiving M-71 intraperitoneally, the amount of electrolytes and the daily excretion of urine was studied. The results suggest that M-71 did not change the investigated parameters.
