Patients wtih pacemakers with constant frequency must cope with their problems of the regulation of the circulation without having the possibility of changing the heart rate. These are not inconsiderable under everyday conditions, e.g. in the orthostatic experiment. A large number of medicaments with coronary and antihypertensive effects disturbs the periphery of the circulation as the possibility of regulation which persist in the patients with pacemakers. On the basis of orthostatic experiments on patients with pacemakers with constant frequency the acute effect of drugs, such as nitroglycerin, trapidil, dihydroergotoxin and aminophyllin as well as the long-term effect of antihypertensive drugs concerning the disturbances of the orthostatic regulation is dealt with. The acute effect especially of nitroglycerin is clinically relevant. Concerning the permanent therapy with antihypertensive drugs, there exists probably a possibility of adaptation. In oral application Rauwolfia alkaloids and clonidin do not show a disadvantageous influence on the orthostatic behaviour.

A retrospective study concerning anamnestic data as well as an internal and dactyloscopic examination were caried out on 75 woman who were delivered from a deformed child. Apart from the well-known causes of a deformity the chronic arterial hypertension is emphasized as teratogenetic factor. The dactyloscopic examination did not result in an accumulation of stigmata which refer to a genetic condition of the deformities. Differences concerning the distribution of patterns on the finger-tips need further investigations; at present they are not yet to be explained.

It is reported on a group of 31 patients with pacemakers who were exposed to an orthostasis load without additional therapy as well as after an administration of nitrangin, euphyllin, rocornal and ergocomb. The lacking regulation of frequency in these patients can only limitedly be compensated by a volume regulation. Thus the simple standing experiment is already a considerable stress for these patients. Single applications of nitrangin and ergocomb led to an additional orthostatic decrease of blood pressure. This is particularly characterized after application of nitragin and also accompanied by subjective appearances up to the collapse. In the not doubted necessity to treat patients with pacemakers also conserning the coronary blood supply it seems important to take into consideration an additional iatrogenic disturbance of the orthostatic regulation.

During 6 months lidoflazine was applied ambulatorily in a dosage of 240 mg/a day orally in 21 patients after finished infarction. After 2 to 3 weeks one patient each was excluded due to incompatibility or reinfarction, respectively. In the remaining 19 patients consumption of nitrangin, mechanocardiogram, ECG and blood pressure were controlled in regular intervals during and after ergometric load as well as clinico-chemical examinations performed. The consumption of nitrangin clearly decreased in the course of the time of observation. The tolerance ofthe medicament was good. At the end of the treatment the unchanging load was tolerated with lower pulse rate, slightly decreased blood pressure and shortened period of isometric contraciton and period of the increase of blood pressure. The present results were discussed compared with literature.

After having described the bases of dactyloscopy, the authors report on the clinical importance of this method in gynecology and obstetrics. Own results about Turner's syndrome and first experiences of the dactyloscopic examination of mothers of malformed infants are discussed. The patients with XO Turner's syndrome in our series have a ridge count of 181, comparable to the value of 178, 6 observed by Penrose. Mothers of infants with congenital malformations have no different dactyloscopic features in comparison with the controls.
