RESUMEN
A study was made of the antioxidative activity (AOA), of the activity of glytathionreductase and catalase, and of SH-group concentration in suspensions of intact cells from eight fractions of the rat ascitic ovary tumor. A correlative bond was detected between AOA, the activity of antioxidative enzymes, and SH-group concentration. It was shown that antioxidative properties of the fractions containing resting (G0) and polyploid cells were higher than those of proliferating diploid cells.

An analysis of the experience with surgical treatment of more than 320 patients with infectious endocarditis has shown the necessity to isolate pyo-septic cardiosurgery into an independent line. The arguments are: the specificity of the contingent of patients, special features of diagnosing, operative technique and period of rehabilitation, sanitizing regimen of the artificial blood circulation and others. The organizational aspect includes the necessity of active surgical tactics in treatment of pyo-surgical foci of cardiac localization. Successful treatment of this category of patients can be performed due to the availability of special antiseptic centers which must closely cooperate with cardiosurgical departments functioning in the regimen of emergency diagnostics and cardiac surgery.

Studies have been made on the activity of erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase in 18 species of wild and laboratory rodents. Significant differences in the enzymic activity unrelated to taxonomic position of rodents were revealed. Negative correlation was found between the enzymic activity and body mass in rodents. The relationship between these parameters for wild rodents is approximated by an allometric equation Y = 1.1 . X-0.73, for laboratory species--Y = 1.5 . X-0.41. It is suggested that the revealed relationship indicates the existence of a connection between the activity of erythrocyte acetylcholinesterase and the intensity of metabolism in small rodents.

The clinical picture of endocarditis in addicts is characterized by mainly right-sided localization of the process in the heart, poor auscultatory picture of the heart, pleuro-pulmonary manifestations against the background of a feverish course of the disease. The leading role in diagnosis of infectious endocarditis in addicts should be given to echocardiography. A description of three cases of surgical treatment of infectious endocarditis in addicts is presented.

Injection of alpha-tocopherol acetate to albino mongrel rats potentiates antioxidant activity (AOA) that involves water-soluble factors of the antioxidant system in erythrocyte membranes. The activation of AOA by alpha-tocopherol takes place immediately after irradiation and drug injection and persists during the first 24 h following irradiation.

The effect of tocopherol on the level of free fatty acids was quantitatively estimated at early times after irradiation. Tocopherol was shown to retard the growth of the free fatty acid level in rat erythrocyte membranes during the first 24 h following irradiation.

Antioxidative activity (AOA) of lipids was revealed in plasma membranes of rat liver cells. The dynamics of its change after total-body X- irradiation with a dose 7.65 Gy was followed up. The authors discuss the relationship between the disorders in AOA and lipid content of surface membranes of liver cells in the exposed body and their role in radiation membrane effects.

The complex investigation of central hemodynamics by methods of sphygmography and tachooscillography was carried out in 98 patients with the syndrome of portal hypertension (59 with cirrhosis of the liver and 39 without cirrhosis) who were subjected to various operations. Central hemodynamics was shown to be normalized by shunting operations especially by proximal splenorenal venous anastomosis in combination with splenectomy. Organ anastomoses in combination with splenectomy are inferior in this respect to vascular anastomoses and ligation of the splenic artery.

In the purified plasma membranes of rat liver the antiradical protection systems were revealed involving superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, lipid-dependent and water-soluble catalase, and reduced glutathione. Early changes were observed in these systems after total-body X-irradiation (LD50/30). The authors discuss the role of a plasma membrane in the radiation response of cells.

The influence of common allergic response of delayed type to brucellosis antigen on the processes of glycolysis and dehydrogenase activity of Krebs' cycle in guinea pigs' blood and organs was studied. Along with inhibitory activity of four dehydrogenases investigated there was a depression of the glucolysis processes connected with reduction of the lactate, pyruvate content, and with depression of the LDH activity. An increase of the anaerobic fractions and lowering of aerobic fractions content and of the spectrum excess was seen in the isoenzyme LDH spectrum.
