RESUMEN

The hepatoprotector activity of original compositions of plant origin, containing beet and carrot juices, decoction of dog rose fruits, and extracts of corn silk, peppermint leaves, and common horsetail herbs was studied on an acute hepatitis model induced by tetrachloromethane. An analysis of the data on the hepatocyte cytolysis, cholestasis, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant system of blood serum showed that the preparations possess membranoprotector and antioxidant properties. This was manifested by a decrease in the activity of alanine aminotransferase and in the levels of total bilirubin and the final (malonaldehyde) and intermediate (diene conjugates) lipid peroxidation products, and by the absence of decline in the level of endogenous alpha-tocopherol and in the activity of glutathione-dependent enzymes.

RESUMEN

The influence of the original vegetable complexes (which include: juices of beet-rout and carrot, decoction of degrose berries, extracts of corn silk, leaves of peppermint and some other components) on the indicators of the cytolysis, lipid peroxidation and antioxidant system of serum of the laboratory rats with acute toxic hepatitis, was investigated. The vegetable complexes exhibited antioxidant effects which were proved by the reduction of the final and intermediate products of lipoperoxidization, the absence of decline of the level of endogenous alpha-tocopherol content and glutathione dependent enzymes.

RESUMEN

59.4% of drugs allowed by current pharmaceutical nomenclature to be sold without prescriptions may cause side effects or have contraindications. Analgetics, spasmolytics, purgatives and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs account for the bulk of side effects. 87% of over-the-counter drugs contain no information about possible adverse effects. Promoting awareness of the population of side effects of the drugs admitted to prescription-less sale should be considered as an urgent problem of pharmacy.

RESUMEN

A total of 102 patients were examined, 32 of these with true eczema, 38 with exudative mycosis of the soles, and 32 with eczema etiologically related to a fungal infection. Analysis of the immune and biochemical reactions in the examinees has shown a marked reduction of adenyl nucleotides in the leukocytic suspension and neutrophils of patients with a mycotic infection as against those with true eczema. The lowest creatine phosphate levels were detected in the leukocytic suspension and neutrophils of the patients suffering from eczema etiologically related to mycosis and exudative mycosis of the soles. These results give grounds to search for effective corrective therapy.

RESUMEN

The experiments with models of myocardial infarction established that carnitine chloride reduced the size of an ischemic zone, prevented oxidative metabolism, lowered ATP and creatine phosphate levels, inhibited lactate and free fatty acid accumulation in the ischemic myocardium. Carnitine chloride in combination with nitrong and isoptin increased the anti-ischemic potency of the former.

RESUMEN

Anti-ischemic action of exogenous natural metabolites and their effect on biological combustion processes indexes in cardiac muscle has been investigated on white rats with the experimental myocardial infarction. It has been established that the marked cardioprotective effect of malate and alpha-ketoglutarate is associated with the glycolysis and enzymes activation of creatine kinase system of energy transport. At the same time malate activates pentose-phosphate cycle and tissue respiration enzymes. alpha-glycerophosphate displays definite anti-ischemic properties not associated with the intervention into biological combustion processes.

RESUMEN

A study is presented of the carbohydrate energy metabolism and processes of peroxidation in rats with experimental pitutrin-isadrin myocardial infarction. Essential changes of these values were noted. It is concluded that quinasopyrin and preparation E normalize to a greater extent and riboxin to a smaller extent metabolic disorders in the ischemia-involved myocardium tissues.

RESUMEN

The effect of riboxin (100 mg/kg body weight) on different kinds of metabolism in the cardiac muscles of Wistar rats in norm and during experimental pituitrin-neoepinephrine-induced myocardial infarction was studied. Riboxin was found to stimulate anaerobic glycolysis with the hyperproduction of lactate and the formation of glucose deficiency and also to increase the rate of protein synthesis on polyribosomes. Administration of riboxin during the formation of myocardial infarction considerably hinders the pronounced character of its electrocardiographic and biochemical manifestations. Thus, in the ischemic cardiac muscle the pool of macroergic phosphates is preserved, glycolysis and adaptive protein synthesis are impaired to a lesser degree that probably underlies the cardioprotective effect of riboxin.

RESUMEN

On the basis of studying the lipid metabolism and types of hyperlipidemia, the three types of the course of atherosclerosis of the arteries of the lower extremities--rapidly progressive, slowly progressive and stable--were distinguished. In rapidly progressive type, the performance of standard reconstructive operations is indicated. In slowly progressive and stable types, the atraumatic operations--endovascular dilatation, isolated or in combination with reconstructive operations, extra-anatomical shunting, profundoplasty--are the method of choice.

RESUMEN

The effect of malic acid salts of iron, potassium, copper, chromium, lithium and zinc on the motor activity and electroencephalographic indices in rats was studied under the course of oral treatment (250 mg/kg). Potassium malate was found to exert the most pronounced stimulating effect on the motor activity and excitatory processes in the sensory motor brain areas. The study of the influence of this compound on total physical working capacity and its restoration revealed a significant dose-dependent stimulating action. It was shown that the effects of potassium malate are related to its ability to stimulate the most productive bioenergetic processes, to increase carbohydrate reserves, to decrease oxygen consumption of tissues.

RESUMEN

The native sum of valepotriates isolated from Val. alliariifolia Adams which was named valiracyl is an agent of low toxicity and exerts a pronounced neurotropic effect. Valiracyl suppresses the orientation reflex of animals in an "open field", decreases a spontaneous and caffeine-stimulated motor activity, potentiates and prolongs the action of barbiturates, significantly reduces aggressiveness of animals, decreases sensitivity to the convulsant effects of corasol and thiosemicarbazide, produces the antihypoxic and mild myorelaxant actions. The neurotropic effects of valiracyl are related to increased level of the GABA inhibition mediator and decreased intensity of bioenergetic processes in the brain.

RESUMEN

A study was made of the effect of euphylline administration (25 mg/kg) for 20 days on some indicators of carbohydrate, energy, lipid and electrolyte metabolism in blood serum and tissues of the heart, aorta and liver during pituitrin hypertension in rabbits experiencing arterial pressure normalization. It was found that euphylline appreciably decreased hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipoproteinemia seen in hypertension. At the same tine the aortal wall showed a decrease in cholesterol content, in lactate dehydrogenase activity, and the normalization of transketolase activity and calcium concentration. In liver tissue, the activity of glycolytic enzymes was inhibited and cholesterol level declined. The heart muscle manifested a decrease in the activity of glycolytic and pentosephosphate pathway enzymes and in that of creatine kinase. The changes in electrolyte balance included sodium elevation in blood serum, heart and liver tissues.

RESUMEN

In tests conducted with cats salsolin brings down considerably the catecholamines concentration in the vascular wall. Papaverine and kallicrein raise the level of epinephrine and reduce the concentration of norepinephrine. With its one-time administration papaverine promotes accumulation of pyruvate and citrate in tissues of the most vessels. Kallicrein forces down the level of lactate and appreciably increases the concentration of pyruvate in the vascular tissue.

RESUMEN

A specific lactate-reducing effect of fatty vegetable oils (sea-buckthorn and rose), of the sperm oil and the "Spedian-2M" preparation, of a permanent nature, or sporadically, in tests on rats, and markedly, as well as persistently--in experiments with guinea pigs was revealed. The phenomenon was most distinctly pronounced in the liver. The oils also produce a glycogen-mobilizing effect, since there could be noted a relative stability in the content of glucose in the tissues, and this despite an increased carbohydrate decomposition. The study oils, even in elevated doses, are not toxic, do not intensify the oxidative metabolism of carbohydrates, thus creating all the necessary conditions for stimulation and proteinic synthesis.
