(AU)

Abstract Clear aligner treatment has gained interest among orthodontists since its introduction in the market two decades ago. The high patients' demand for more aesthetic approaches, with greater comfort, is the primary aspect driving this direction change in the treatment of the malocclusions. However, this drift impacted the management of clinical practices because orthodontists lost absolute control over the flow of assembly and manufacture of conventional appliances. Third-party companies hired for the industrial manufacture of aligners was the concept initially proposed by Align Technology, manufacturer of Invisalign, a pioneer in the commercial system and market leader. Nevertheless, due to the inherent costs of this service and the time limitations imposed by outsourcing, the orthodontists created a digital flow for in-house manufacturing of aligners. This series of three articles brings practical considerations for using in-office aligners. Additionally, the goal is to share experiences related to the manufacture and management of the technique (AU)

(AU)

Abstract Following the virtual planning of orthodontic movements using suitable platforms and the resulting exportation of multiple digital models of sub-setups, the laboratory phase begins to produce in house aligners. This phase involves the utilization of 3D printing technology to fabricate models using photosensitive resin, followed by additional steps of washing and post-curing. The models are then prepared for printing using a range of thermoplastic polymer laminate choices. After this, they are meticulously trimmed, refined, sterilized, and subsequently, disseminated to the intended recipients. The current part 3 of the tutorial will focus on the practical concepts involved in the in house production of aligners(AU)

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: To investigate whether there is any effect resulting from preconditioning with nutraceutical supplementation containing arginine and oil mixes with high ω9:ω6 ratio and low ω6:ω3 ratio containing EPA and DHA, ALA fatty acids on inflammatory mediators, antioxidant and lipid profile modulation in surgical trauma. METHODS: Twenty-six men scheduled for radical prostatectomy were randomized into three groups and treated as follows: Group 1 (skim milk, 0% fat), Group 2 (supplement with ω6:ω3 ratio of 8:1 and arginine) and Group 3 (supplement with high ω9:ω6 ratio of 3.2:1 and low ω6:ω3 ratio of 1.4:1 and arginine). Patients received skin milk or supplements twice a day (200 ml) during five days prior to surgery. Peripheral venous blood samples were collected at three different timepoints: five days before surgery (PRE), before anesthesia induction (IND) and on the 2nd postoperative day (POS). Parameters analyzed included inflammatory cytokines (IL-1ß, IL-6, IL-8 and TNF-α), antioxidants (catalase), lipid profile and heat shock protein (HSP-27). RESULTS: There were no significant differences between groups on inflammatory mediators and antioxidant parameters. However, lipid profile values (Cholesterol, LDL, Triglycerides, VLDL), were significantly different. CONCLUSION: Preconditioning with arginine and oil mixes containing high ω9:ω6 ratio and low ω6:ω3 ratio, has no effects on inflammatory mediators and oxidative stress in patients undergoing radical prostatectomy. Reduction of cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL and VLDL profiles may be related to the trauma effect.

RESUMEN

The present work was carried out to evaluate the in vitro development of bovine embryo co-cultured in granulosa, oviduct, BRL or VERO cells co-cultures, supplemented with 5% or 10% of Fetal Calf Serum (FCS). Cummulus oocyte complexes were aspirated, matured and fertilized in vitro. Embryonic structures were divided into eight treatments. They were placed in culture media TCM 199 containing granulosa, oviduct, BRL or VERO cells, each of them added with 5% or 10% FCS. The conditions for the co-culture were 38.5 ºC, 5% CO2 in air and high humidity for ten consecutive days. Cleavage, blastocyst and hatching rates did not differ (p > 0.05) in co-culture with primary cells (granulosa and oviduct) when FCS concentration increased from 5 to 10%. However, in continuous cells co-culture (BRL and VERO), when FCS concentration increased from 5% to 10%, the blastocyst development rate decreased significantly (p < 0.05) from 33.6 to 16.3% and from 40 to 16.5% in embryo co-culture with BRL and VERO cells, respectively.
