RESUMEN

The most frequent symptoms and syndromes indicative of nervous system impairments in the newborn are: oculomotor disturbances, signs of intracranial pressure rise, changes of the spontaneous motor activity, symptoms of cerebral edema, depression or excitation of the nervous system. The studies have shown that the diverse character of combination of these symptoms and syndromes and the degree of their intensity depend on the depth of hypoxia, give evidence of the gravity of cerebral circulation disorders, and point to possible metabolic or structural changes in the newborn's brain.
