RESUMEN

We studied antibacterial activity of a hybrid polymeric construction consisting of continuous and porous layers of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene reinforced by titanium. Experimental samples were impregnated with amoxycillin in subcritical Freon R22. The contact of bacterial culture with hybrid polymeric constructions saturated with amoxycillin suppressed the growth of microorganisms and the formation of their colonies. These results attest to the presence of a bactericidal effect of hybrid scaffold samples impregnated with an antibacterial component.

RESUMEN

We studied the possibility of using coal hemosorbents for elimination gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms from the blood. After hemosorption, the number of S. aureus and K. pneumoniae pneumoniae colony-forming units significantly decreased. The obtained results indicate that coal sorbents can bind and probably eliminate gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria from the blood.

RESUMEN

Self-obtained data about study of enterococci as etiologic agents of infectious complications after cardiovascular and transplantation surgery are presented in the article. 465 strains of enterococci were isolated from different biosubstrates. Isolation rate of different species of enterococci in blood, urine, fromwounds, trachea, cardiacvalves, as well as in the environment and on wear of healthcare workers were determined. Most frequently enterococci were isolated from urine (47.7% of cases) and from trachea (24.3% of cases). Enterococcal bacteremia was determined in 9.7% of cases and represented a significant part in Grampositive microflora--38.5% of all isolates. High resistance of enterococci to antibiotics and well lysis by phages were noted.

RESUMEN

The sensitivity of 239 isolates obtained from patients with postoperative infectious complications to phagolysis was determined. Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli were found to have the highest sensitivity to phages. Variations in the sensitivity of the same cultures to phages from different producers and even from the same producer were established. The sensitivity of cultures to phages may serve as an additional criterion of the biological properties of strains and their marker.

RESUMEN

The contents of the large intestine were investigated bacteriologically in 44 pregnant women at the pregnancy term of 27-28 weeks living in the areas contaminated with radionuclides at a concentration of 15-40 C/km2. It was found that in 9.6 per cent of the women the intestinal microbiocenosis was within the normal and in 19.1 per cent there was detected marked dysbacteriosis. In the other women compensated or subcompensated intestinal dysbacteriosis was recorded. The state of the large intestine microbiocenosis in the pregnant women did not depend on urogynecological or infectious diseases in the case histories. The prophylactic treatment with eubiotics (bifidumbacterin per rectum and lactobacterin intravaginally) aimed at the correction of the impaired microbiocenosis had a favourable effect which did not depend on urogynecological or infectious diseases in the case histories. After the completion of the prophylaxis course with the eubiotics some indices improved but the percentage of the pregnant women isolating colibacilli with the properties of virulence increased.

RESUMEN

Schemes developed by the authors for antibacterial therapy of gastroduodenal bacterosis caused by Campylobacter spp. in children are described. The data on the treatment of 56 patients with duodenal ulcer and gastroduodenitis are presented. The efficacy of the treatment with medicines under the control of the clinical, endoscopic and microbiological indices was compared. The study showed that De-Nol, furazolidone and combination of trichopol (metronidazole) with vicair were the most efficient drugs for therapy of children with such diseases.

RESUMEN

Isolation, identification and drug sensitivity assay of microorganisms from pathological materials of 177 patients with nonspecific diseases of the lungs, mainly pneumonia, were performed on blood and selective "chocolate" agars by using Baktofok-MK, a new dry nutrient basis developed by the authors. Blood and "chocolate" agars based on the Hottinger's hydrolysate were used as the control media. It was shown that with the quantitative procedure for inoculating the pathological material, the experimental media based on Baktofok-MK were much more sensitive to growth properties that the control media. That made it possible to detect larger numbers of etiologically important microbial species on the blood agar and to isolate clinical strains of Hemophilus spp. from a larger number of specimens on the "chocolate" agar.

RESUMEN

The authors analyze the findings of gastroduodenal biopsies in 25 children aged 6 to 15 years suffering from mucosal inflammations and functional abnormalities of the upper portions of the digestive tract. Chocolate agar with various bases, one of which has been suggested by the authors, has been used for the isolation of C. pyloridis. Five cultures have been isolated. Microscopic examinations and biochemical identification of the isolates have lead the authors to a conclusion that campylobacter infections of the upper digestive tract may be diagnosed with certainty only after a comprehensive bacteriologic examination.

RESUMEN

In this work the data obtained in the examination of 338 children with diarrhea, aged 5 days to 14 years, are presented. The methods used for the collection of samples and their storage till the moment of inoculation are described. The possibility of using the microscopic examination of Campylobacter-containing native feces is shown. The work resulted in the isolation of 85 C. jejuni and C. coli strains. As shown in this work, the isolation of Campylobacter depended on the age of children and the season. The etiological importance of Campylobacter for the development of acute enterocolitis and gastroenteritis in 10% of the children under examination is suggested.

RESUMEN

During diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopy, 104 children aged 6 months to 14 years were subjected to spot biopsy of the mucous membrane of the antral part of the stomach and duodenal bulb with a purpose of subsequent studies for Campylobacter pyloris (C. P.) including primary microscopy, the screening-urease test and culture isolation followed by its identification according to all the necessary biochemical tests. C. P. were detected in 50% of the children examined including 9 out of 12 patients suffering from ulcer disease of the duodenum. It was shown that the C. P. incidence noticeably rose with an increase of the period of the gastroenterologic anamnesis. The characteristic clinical and endoscopic signs of the illness were defined, associated with most or less probable C. P. isolation. It has been established that the findings of the screening-urease test cannot form the basis for the final diagnosis of pyloric campylobacteriosis in children.
