RESUMEN

Wound healing is a critical but complex biological process of skin tissue repair and regeneration resulting from various systems working together at the cellular and molecular levels. Quick wound healing and the problems associated with traditional wound repair techniques are being overcome with multifunctional materials. Over time, this research area has drawn significant attention. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), owning to their peculiar physicochemical characteristics, are now considered a promising class of well-suited porous materials for wound healing in addition to their other biological applications. This detailed literature review provides an overview of the latest developments in MOFs for wound healing applications. We have discussed the synthesis, essential biomedical properties, wound-healing mechanism, MOF-based dressing materials, and their wound-healing applications. The possible major challenges and limitations of MOFs have been discussed, along with conclusions and future perspectives. This overview of the literature review addresses MOFs-based wound healing from several angles and covers the most current developments in the subject. The readers may discover how the MOFs advanced this discipline by producing more inventive, useful, and successful dressings. It influences the development of future generations of biomaterials for the healing and regeneration of skin wounds.

BACKGROUND: An increasing prevalence of biofilm forming strains by vancomycinresistance Staphylococcus aureus (VRSA) is one of the most important causes of antimicrobial resistance. VRSA possesses various regulatory factors to form and sustain biofilm in biotic or abiotic conditions. Among them, ureolytic activity is an important factor in the stabilization of biofilms by neutralizing the acidic environment. Various urease accessory proteins are required to activate the urease enzyme inside the biofilm. OBJECTIVE: To optimize the cloning, expression and purification of urease accessory protein E from VRSA for determination of the secondary structure, and functional characterization by using Berthelot's method. METHODS: BAB58453.1 gene (which encodes possible urease accessory protein E), having 38% similarity to Bacillus pasteurii UreE protein, was cloned, expressed, and purified by single-step affinity chromatography for performing secondary structural studies using circular dichroism spectroscopy, and functional analysis using Berthelot's and crystal violet assay. RESULTS: Structure elucidation using NMR and circular dichroism spectroscopy techniques revealed that UreE protein has a partially foldedα-helical structure. Using Berthelot's method, it was identified that the purified UreE protein has enhanced urease enzyme activity, in comparison to the control. From the results of Berthelot's and crystal violet assays, it was deduced that the selected gene (UreE protein) plays a key role in enhancing urease enzyme activity and contributes to biofilm stability. CONCLUSION: Structural studies on VRSA urease accessory proteins could aid in the identification of new drug targets or the development of effective antibiofilm strategies (in combination with other drug targets) against infections caused by biofilm-producing strains.

Frequent use of antibiotics has been developed resistance and the use of broad spectrum cephalosporin must be limited in children. The study evaluated the association of prescribing patterns of third generation cephalosporin with diagnosis, age, availability of cultural sensitivity report and gender. It is an observational study that was carried out in the duration of six months in a low socio-economic tertiary care hospital. The data of six hundred and eighty-five (685) patients were collected from the medical records of the tertiary hospital. The cephalosporin are the most prescribed antibiotics in children 118/217 (54.3%) followed by adults 119/403 (29.5%) and teenagers 18/65 (27.6%). Whereas, 75/217 (34.5%), 126/403 (31.2%) and 22/65 (33.8%) were prescribed cephalosporin with combination in patients respectively. The culture sensitivity was performed only in 25% of patients i.e., 173/685, Of 173 culture reports 70 and 91 cases from children and adults respectively. Blood is mostly examined specimen in children and urine in adults. Escherichia coli was highly recovered pathogen in culture sensitivity report. The study concluded broad spectrum cephalosporin antibiotics were highly prescribed in children. The culture sensitivity was performed in limited number of patients. Antibiotics stewardship programme will be implemented to reduce the prescribing of broad spectrum cephalosporin in young patients.

Aromatic bis-aldehydes have been used as building blocks in the synthesis of polyazomethines (a class of conjugated Schiff bases) and their physicochemical properties have been studied. Six dialdehydes have been synthesized, 3a-3f, via etherification reaction between aromatic diols (2a-2f) and 4-fluorobenzaldehyde (1) (see Scheme 1), and then polymerized with 1,4-phenylenediamine (4a) and 4,4'-oxydianiline (4b) (see Scheme 2). The chemical structures of the bis-aldehydes were elucidated by FTIR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopic studies, elemental analysis and single crystal whereas the polymers were studied by FTIR and NMR spectroscopy. Their physicochemical properties were examined by their inherent viscosity, organosolubility, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, solvatochromism, and photoluminescence. We report the electrical conductivity of each polymer measured by the four probe method. The results indicate that the electrical conductivity of polymers lies in range 0.019-0.051 mScm-1 which is reasonably higher than any reported value.

Bones are nanocomposites consisting of a collagenous fibre network, embedded with calcium phosphates mainly hydroxyapatite (HA) nanocrystallites. As bones are subjected to continuous loading and unloading process every day, they often tend to become prone to fatigue and breakdown. Therefore, this review addresses the use of nanocomposites particularly polymers reinforced with nanoceramics that can be used as load bearing bone implants. Further, nanocomposite preparation and dispersion modification techniques have been highlighted along with thorough discussion on the influence that various nanofillers have on the physico-mechanical properties of nanocomposites in relation to that of natural bone properties. This review updates the nanocomposites that meet the physico-mechanical properties (strength and elasticity) as well as biocompatibility requirement of a load bearing bone implant and also attempts to highlight the gaps in the reported studies to address the fatigue and creep properties of the nanocomposites.

In the title compound, C(27)H(20)F(6)N(2)O(2), the dihedral angles between the planes of the aromatic rings connected by the ether O atoms are 84.13 (8) and 75.06 (9)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by N-H⋯O and N-H⋯F hydrogen bonds.

Study of the effects of the methanolic extract of Tagetes patula roots on blood pressure led to the isolation of well known citric (1) and malic acid (7) as hypotensive, and pyridine hydrochloride (4) as hypertensive constituents of the plant along with a new constituent, 2-hydroxy, 5-hydroxymethyl furan (9). Citric acid and malic acid caused 71% and 43% fall in Mean Arterial Blood Pressure (MABP) of rats at the doses of 15 mg/kg and 30 mg/kg respectively while pyridine hydrochloride produced 34% rise in the MABP of rats at the dose of 30 mg/kg. LD50 and LD100 of citric acid in mice have been determined as 545 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg, respectively.
