RESUMEN

This research work contributes to the literature by examining the role of energy consumption in mitigating poverty via decomposing energy consumption into its positive and negative components, covering the period spanning from 1985 to 2017. To accomplish this objective, this study employs the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) approach recently popularized by Shin et al., (2014). The NARDL approach is well-suited to our study becuase of its capability to delineate hidden asymmetries. The empirical findings reveal the prevalence of long-run associations among the studied variables. The outcomes show that an increase (decrease) in energy consumption combats (augments) poverty in Pakistan. The empirical findings underscore that the decreasing effect of energy consumption on poverty is found to be more promising than its increasing effect, both in the long and short run. Based on the empirical outcomes, we suggest that the policymakers, and other stakeholders should consider the asymmetric or nonlinear behavior of the studied variables for better poverty policy-making in Pakistan.

RESUMEN

This study quantifies the impact of financial inclusion and export diversification in attaining the target of green growth for SAARC economies during the period 2000 to 2019. For the analysis purpose, this study employed second-generation econometric techniques that deal with heterogeneity and cross-sectional dependence issues. To this end, CUP-FM and CUP-BC are used to investigate the long-run dynamic equilibrium relationship among the variables of interest. The outcomes show that financial inclusion and institutional quality are eco-friendly variables and play a vital role in attaining green growth. In contrast, export diversification and FDI are inversely related with green growth in SAARC economies. Furthermore, a unidirectional causality running from financial inclusion to green growth and financial inclusion to export diversification is observed. On the basis of investigated outcomes, this research suggests essential policy recommendations to attain green growth.

RESUMEN

The report presents a case of a 67-year-old female with a long-standing lump on the scalp. After its excision the histopathology revealed consistency with eccrine mucinous carcinoma. These neoplasms are quite rare with only around 100 cases reported since 1951. The report concludes the importance of encouraging follow-up of cutaneous lesions among patients as well as ongoing research to better identify and manage the tumor.

RESUMEN

Many classes of drugs are known to cause a photosensitive reaction, including anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and nonsteroidal drugs. Pirfenidone is an anti-inflammatory drug that is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). We report a case of a patient who developed a photosensitive rash secondary to pirfenidone use, which resolved after discontinuing administration of the drug.
